Ugh, it was to be expected, but still... I'm sure a couple of days of regulated eating will sort this out. But I am annoyed even though it is expected after a boozy party weekend. Also TOM arrived, so maybe that'll balance things a little as well.
No social plans for the next 8 days, so it's gonna be about focus, planning meals and exercise

WTH. I mean I know where it comes from, but still. I didn't think it was gonna be this bad.
No giving up allowed. Back to regular logging today after the long weekend. Started the day with a run, Freeletics and short yoga, so that's good... Until I went out for dinner, had wine and sweets after I got home 😒
On the plus side, my colleague just started keto, so that means we're both gonna stop bringing sweets to work..

Better number, but still not happy. Need to drink more water.
Long day in the office, I did plan for it, but then stress-ate and lost control.
Only 4000 steps, LNS, lost count of the snacks. Ah well, new day tomorrow. I feel like I might just have to ge comfortable with this weight, then I can stop feeling guilty about my lack of discipline and commitment. Meh, what a day...

Alright, motivation is back, this round turned out better than expected half way through.
I had a realisation today: Wanted to go boxing today but then decided I don't actually enjoy it that much there and I'm not going to force myself to go there again until I really feel like it. It felt good to make that decision.
Went a little over cals with my dinner, because I couldn't walk past some snacks at work. But what's 200cals?
Onto the next one and into the 71.x's!!

08/18 Away for the weekend. No scale nearby. Helped my son move out of his college apartment at MSU and into his new “real” apartment in Pittsburgh, then long drive home to Philly. Lotta miles, not much exercise. Did not make the best choices, but did reasonably well. Had some carbs over the weekend so I expect the scale will show an uptick. Que sera sera. Back on the wagon tomorrow!!

Sorry to break the mojo - Is there a thread like this but with measurements or dress sizes instead of weight? The number on the scale is kind of triggering for me and I prefer to go by how my clothes fit6

Day/Weight/Comment
8/11: 225.4 (+0.8)/19.1 (+0.1). I'm not sure exactly what happened, but not overly concerned, either. I thought I did a good job at least with portioning yesterday (came in at almost exactly my calorie goal), but food "quality" was not where it usually is. Weekends are always harder than the week, and today is no exception. My wife wants to go to a food festival, and then we're touring a really cool distillery (with tastings) right after. I'm going to keep focusing on portions as much as I can, and trying to stick to my macros.
8/12: 229.4 (+4.0)/19.5 (+0.4). Yesterday felt like a disaster, from beginning to end food-wise. I lost it for a day, didn't track at all, and didn't feel like posting.
8/13: 228.6 (-0.8)/19.4 (-0.1). Spent yesterday recovering from Sunday. I ate so bad on Sunday I felt sick most of the day Monday. I didn't track my food, but I think I generally did okay. My updated goal for this round is just to get back to my starting weight for the round.
8/14: 228.8 (+0.2)/19.5 (+0.1). If how I ate the previous day had any direct effect on my weigh-in the next morning, today would have been a loss. I was on-point with everything yesterday; I'll try to do the same today. I'm resigned to the fact that I might not reach my goal this week, and I'm okay with it (which is one of the reasons why I track average weight for each challenge... to track trends and get a more objective perspective). I've been most successful when I have trusted this process, and I'm going to stick with what I know. I really hope I get to play basketball again soon. The group I play with is having issues with the people who give gym permits. Every week I'm hearing, "Hopefully it will be done by next week."
8/15: 225.8 (-3.0)/19.1 (-0.4). Never look a gift WHOOSH!!! in the mouth. Sure, my drop this morning was less than my gain on Monday morning, but it still feels pretty good. I'm okay having weeks where I don't lose a whole bunch, but I'm really trying to avoid having weeks where I gain. Food yesterday was mediocre, honestly, but I ate within calories. REALLY hoping my basketball friends get their $h!t together and I get to play on Saturday. I also need to get into the gym, but life is making it difficult; I'm going to shoot for Friday night.
8/16: 225.6 (-0.2)/19.1 (0.0). I ate alright yesterday, with one glass of wine with dinner. I got some good news; we finally worked out our permit for my Saturday basketball game, which should be paid for and approved by today. The bad news; there's a volleyball tournament on Saturday at the high school we play at, so no basketball this Saturday (we get bumped for school events). I'm headed to the gym with my wife tonight. In addition to my normal weightlifting, I'm committing to 1/2 an hour on the elliptical in which I'll watch a television show I like (to keep me distracted). I'm really hoping it works. I H8 cardio.
8/17: 225.0 (-0.6)/19.0 (-0.1). Totally flaked on the gym, and my accountability partner ~@~'d on me for it (appropriately). I was a little bit over on calories (I think), but I also tend to overestimate them a bit. I'm actually feeling hopeful that I have a chance to get to my starting weight for the challenge, if not a little below that. Painting three rooms this weekend (including ceilings) and going to Six Flags Magic Mountain with my 78-year-old father on Monday (the old man is an adrenaline junkie). I'm going to try to get up early and get to the gym tomorrow (sorry Ashley!), but that just may not work. I did a great job saying "no" last night to dessert, even though it was pushed on my for a couple of hours by my wife's family.
8/18: 224.8 (-0.2)/19.0 (0.0). Painted all day, had a relatively unhealthy lunch.
8/19: 224.8 (0.0)/19.0 (0.0). More painting. More relatively unhealthy lunch that was VERY DIFFICULT TO TRACK. Calories offset by exercise, I think. Just like the day before.
8/20: 226.2 (+1.4)/19.2 (+0.2). Recovery day. Still ate unhealthy. I'm pretty sure my calorie estimates for the past couple of days were off pretty bad.
R86 EW/BF% = 226.2 (+1.6)/19.2 (+0.2)
R86 AW/ABF% = 226.4 (-1.7)/19.19 (-0.18)
I'm up for the challenge, but I'm going to hold on to the positives. My average body weight and average body fat percentage both dropped significantly, and basketball is going to start up again this Saturday (I think). I wanted to get back to ground zero for the challenge, but overall I'm feeling better and making progress, I think. On to the next!

Day/Weight/Comment
08/11 130.6 Well I expected that after a record 3 pound loss at the end of last round that my weight would go back up - expect that a large part of that drop was water weight from being out in the sun/heat the last 3 days. Ended up with less exercise yesterday, but quads and right ankle definitely needed a rest. Was doing fine on food and even managed to fit in a tablespoon size scoop of homemade garlic ice cream, but DH opened a bag of fake fritos late last night after watching a movie, so yesterday ended up being sort of a cheat day - I definitely need one now and then and probably was under calories if I ate back exercise calories. Anyway expect the weight will stabilize over the next 10 days if I can keep up activity and log food while out of town. NSVs: MFP prediction for today was 133.5, so clearly under that and still tracking a 1.2 lb loss over 7 days and 5 for 30 days! Also while packing for trip to mountains, found a small black sleeveless silk dress in my closet that fits perfectly! Goal is to stay active on trip to the mountains and wear it out for dinner!
08/12 OoT
08/13 OoT
08/14 OoT
08/15 OoT
08/16 OoT Back home. Was able to have some leisurely activity during trip, but not sure if it was enough to offset all the wonderful meals. Will weigh in tomorrow am! At this point would be happy to break even for the round!
08/17 131.5 Well so far not breaking even for the round. But only a 0.9 increase while on vacation which is within the range of daily variability with changes in water weight/food retention etc, so not going to worry about the gain, but will focus on the few days left of this round. I have to remember that it it took me 12 years to get to my peak weight, and if I am consistent I can take it off within 12 months! Hit cardio hard this morning with a spin class and then some ab work later so getting back on track for exercise and will see what the scale says tomorrow!
08/18 132.4 Well that is not going in the right direction! Woke up feeling dehydrated and more bloated than normal. Spent time outside weeding like a mad dog in the heat, and just dripped sweat. Had ice water with me while outside (several refills) and tried hard to stay hydrated, but have a slight migraine now (too much sun, not enough water?) so going to take a rest and maybe do some exercise exercise later at home if I feel up to it. Unless a major whoosh materializes at the last minute, looking more and more like this will be the first round where I do not have a loss. In any case, this is a marathon and not a sprint to the finish!
08/19 131.7 Heading back in the right direction! good day for cardio and under calories for the day.
08/20 129.2 Well a 2.5 drop overnight has got to be water related (some food). Saw my nutritionist briefly yesterday and mentioned the 3.6 lb gain over the last 9 days. Her thought was that it was likely a large part water retention with increased sodium due to eating out most of the time, which seems to be supported by the drop yesterday. Now just hoping that this whoosh doesn't bounce right back up tomorrow for the new round! In any case, even though I am still higher than last round thrilled to be back in the 120's. NSV: able to wear new small leggings (OK they are a stretch jean material) and an XS top (vanity sizing so really a small :-) but feels great to be moving down a size!

08/11 - 131.8 (+0.5lbs) - DOMS from leg day 😓... loads of water retention. I’m sure it will come down in a few days.
🥘 Food was pretty good for most of the day but I did end up eating some sugar last night at a birthday party. I passed on all the alcohol and cake. So even though it’s not as clean as I’m used to, I did really well. That being said.. macros were a bit more off than normal, over on carbs. 😣
🏋🏻♀️ 1hr 5min strength.
🏃🏻♀️ 30min cardio.
🧘🏻♀️ Day off yoga.
👣 11,488 steps.
💧 159oz water.
08/12 - 131.2lbs (-0.6lbs) - DOMS. I’ve been going pretty hard on the weight lifting. Nearly every muscle group is sore now 😆 🤦🏻♀️
🏋🏻♀️ 55min strength.
🏃🏻♀️ 50min cardio.
🧘🏻♀️ Day off yoga.
👣 13,866 steps.
💧 131oz water.
08/13 - 131.8 (+0.6lbs) - DOMS still just a diff muscle group 😆 Rest day is tomorrow though so should even out a bit. Need to get some yoga in for muscle repair!
🥘 Food was ok, more added sugar than I’d like. I bought protein shakes w/sugar by mistake and will never do that again 🤦🏻♀️ that being the case carbs were higher than I would have liked. Still in a deficit though.
🏋🏻♀️ 1hr 20min strength.
🏃🏻♀️ 40min cardio.
🧘🏻♀️ Day off yoga.
👣 11,517 steps.
💧 131oz water.
08/14 - 131 (-0.8lbs) -
🥘 Food was pretty good. Still getting rid of those protein shakes with cane sugar 😒 it’s really messing up my macros but I can manage. I was pretty close on macros, still hard to pack in all the protein but I’ll figure it out eventually.
🏋🏻♀️ Day off strength.
🏃🏻♀️ 1hr cardio.
🧘🏻♀️ 30min yoga.
👣 12,995 steps.
💧 131oz water.
08/15 - 130.4 (-0.6lbs) -
🥘 Food was good until dinner and then it was horrible. Burger King vegan whopper with the bun 🤦🏻♀️ but today is a new day! I was under cals for the day but I don’t want to even think about the macros. 😖
🏋🏻♀️ Day off strength.
🏃🏻♀️ 1hr 45min cardio.
🧘🏻♀️ Day off yoga.
👣 20,603 steps.
💧 142oz water.
08/16 - 130.2 (-0.2lbs) - Surprised I’m not sore from how heavy I lifted chest and tris yesterday. Maybe I’ll feel it tomorrow. Anyway nice small loss!
🥘 Under cals but macros were off by quite a bit. I changed my macros a little to make it more feasible to meet. Will see how it goes.
🏋🏻♀️ 1hr 10min strength.
🏃🏻♀️ 30 min cardio.
🧘🏻♀️ 20 min yoga.

08/17 - 129.1 (-1.1lbs) - Realized why I’m not as sore as I should be today or yesterday... I’ve been doing sauna sessions after my workouts. TOM is coming so who knows if I can keep this by end of round but it’s nice to see!!! 120s finally! 🙌🏻
🥘 Under cals and macros were super close, just a little over on fat but over all very good day for nutrition.
🏋🏻♀️ 1hr 15min strength.
🏃🏻♀️ 30 min cardio.
🧘🏻♀️ Day off yoga.

08/18 - 128.1 (-1lb) - TOM approaching very soon. I think I typically drop like this right before it hits. Whatever the case I’ll take it!

08/19 - 128.6 (+0.5lbs) - Morning routine was off, also TOM is coming.
🥘 Under cals and macros were super close, for a bit short on protein. I’ll take it since I ate horrible in the afternoon. Was in a hurry and on the go.

Day/Weight/Comment
08/11 - 236.3 - was not as strict as I wanted to be yesterday; I didn’t log so I’m not 100% sure the “damage” but this is all about balance and being consistent when you can’t be perfect.
08/12 - DNW - skipped the scale intentionally this morning, didn’t want to make my Monday even Monday-y-er because of the fluctuations. Today I was spot on with eating though for the first time in a while. Who knew making good choices throughout the day would make it easier to stay under my target calories Lolol!
08/13 - 238.7 - 🙄; still plan on making today a good one.
08/14 - 238.7 - 🤷🏾♀️ have a work function tonight (and tomorrow actually). I will enjoy a glass of wine and try to keep the food choices light.
08/15 - DNW - choosing not to weigh for the next several days. Several work functions this week - I tried to make good choices (and made better than I would have otherwise) but not the best in water and wine 😂 I feel the water retention/bloat all the way down to my feet. Gym in the AM. Still checking in even though I am skipping the scale for my own sanity.
08/16 - DNW - water retention feels much less today thank God! Stayed in track today eating wise but did not make it to the gym as planned. Tomorrow!
08/17 - DNW
08/18 - 235.2 - feeling happy with that! Today I have a cleaning marathon ahead of me after my coffee/breakfast the weekends are mainly about keeping myself busy and having good options as far as food around.

Goal this round 183.x

08/12
08/13 185.8 Well I'm just gonna jump right in here. It has been a long summer and i'm glad the kids are getting back to school now. I had to have surgery (2x!) for breast cancer and getting started with radiation next week. But overall I managed to maintain my weight and now I'm ready for the scale to start moving downward again. I would like to get close to 170 by the end of the year which might be a bit ambitious but I need my clothes to fit me again and all of my "big" stuff is feeling tight.
08/14 186.8 I'm not sure where this bump came from except that I actually put too much salt in my zoodles last night. Drinking water for sure. Did 45 minutes of hiit at the gym so that was good! Trying to think about how I can eat successfully tonight at the kid's back to school swim pizza party.. I'm bringing watermelon as my side contribution.
08/15 186.4 still hanging here. Radiology appt today was mainly just for informational purposes and appointment setting so I still don't know what my schedule will be with it. Feeling pretty good overall though. My youngest daughter is on the heavy side (she's 11) and we talked a bit about how sugar can cause inflammation in your body, which ended in a challenge for us both to avoid refined sugar until her birthday in 1 month. I am excited to see the changes in both body and awareness this will bring for us both!
08/16 185.0 much better! maybe my goal for this round is still attainable. Off to the gym this morning to get my steps in, with some light weights. I'm not trying to make any gains for the next couple of months but I AM trying to stay in the habit of physically getting to the gym.
08/17 184.8 did some (hot!) gardening this morning, bathed both the dogs, and I'm calling that a work out. Overall a good day, getting ready to send my daughter off to college and I think I'm having a nice gin and tonic tonight. I plan on measuring the drinks so I can accurately log them. No fudging the numbers if I want to stay accountable!
08/18 185.4 well it doesn't look like I'll make my goal this round but that's ok. I ate well and have been staying within my calories so eventually it will go! drinking a lot of water today. Also need to grocery and get some vegetables. not a good thing when you are trying to lower calories and stay full!
08/19 184.8
08/20 184.0
not bad for first round back. Hoping for a good weigh in tomorrow!10 -

jenn990205 wrote: »08/20 - 148.2 haven't checking in the last couple of days. Father-in-law passed away very suddenly on Saturday night and sent us into turmoil. Bad eating on the go, stress, alcohol, no sleep, and dealing with husband and family has taken a toll. Back at work today, but honestly I am exhausted and my heart hurts for my husband. We are probably going to have to go to Texas where his dad lived, but right now we are just trying to figure out what is going on. Terrible ending to this round obviously, but it's life and sometimes you can't avoid life. My 10 day average is way up and I am almost 10 pounds up from the ending to the last round. This is what happens when you go from eating little to no carbs for months to eating sandwiches in the car, easy fast food items, no water, lots of alcohol, and no sleep. It is what it is and I will see if I can get it back down. I am sure it's water retention and stress.
@jenn990205 I am so very sorry to hear about your FIL. My thoughts & prayers are with you & your hubby and the family. I hope you both can get some rest & some lovely reflection before you have to make a long or stressful trip. He is in Good Hands now.

08/16 - 224 - Surprised with this weigh in as when I came back from vacation, I was back up to 228ish (not as much as I thought due to the 16k+ steps everyday in Orlando, I'm sure). Although I've been sick, I've been trying to log and stay within my macros so that probably helped. Hopefully as I feel better I'll have the motivation to exercise.
08/17 - 224 - hopefully I can maintain through the rest of the weekend.
08/18 - 225.4 - Definitely all the pizza on Saturday 😜
08/19 - 224.6 - Did not exercise yesterday, but I worked up a sweat deep cleaning the main floor of my house (washed walls, scrubbed the hard to reach floor corners etc.). Planning to do Zumba and/or a NTC workout this evening. If I write it here, I have to do it.
08/20 - 224.0 - I did 30 mins of cardio yesterday. I'm glad I've been able to more or less maintain the 224. I probably would have hit my goal if I exercised my body and control over my eating. Time to tighten it back up.9 -

@jenn990205 My condolences on your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.4

@jenn990205 I’m truly sorry for your loss and will be praying for peace for you all. If you are traveling by car, low carb fast food options are possible. Order the sandwich with no bun or just take the bun off and toss it. Subway makes a good salad. When we drove cross country 2 summers ago with 3 teenagers the only “bad” place we ate was KFC and if you throw away the skin, even that isn’t horrid. I remember almost 27 years ago, spending all day every day for a week in the ICU waiting room before we took my FIL home to pass. Some member of the family brought in carb loaded stuff several toes a day and that was hard but I wasn’t LCHF then. Now that stuff doesn’t taste good. Having said that, again I’m sorry for your loss and hope these thoughts help you. 😘2

Anyone can join us at anytime during the round.
Join us! If we stay mindful we can do this, you can do this.
Welcome back past members, welcome new members, let's keep each other accountable for another 10 days!
Here is what you do: Post your daily weight and add little comments along the way of how your day went. Post everyday to let us know how you're doing! Copy and paste the days in your response--tell us how much you lost and other non scale victories (NSV) you'd like to share.
FOR NEWBIES - I find it easiest to copy the dates to a document or note in my device and edit it each morning. Then copy and paste to the message board. MFP will return you to the spot on the board where you left off on your previous visit which is nice to know if you like to scan all of the posts.

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers. My husband is actually doing a lot better today. We took a long drive out to a local lake last night after we got off work and just drove around for hours. Just getting out of town and taking nature in for a little bit really helps sooth the soul. My husband had some unresolved issues with his father and him dying so unexpectedly kind of left my husband a little lost. He is starting to come to terms with it and hopefully he will get some closure when we go to Texas next week. He did not have a great childhood and I think it brought back a lot of memories that he had suppressed for so many years. Thanks again everyone!5

** ROUND 86 **
Round # 18 for me
Day/Weight/Comment
08/11 392.8
08/12 395.0
08/13 394.4 – Well I am back. Had a busy weekend. I am still trying to get back on track. I had a great WW meeting. I attended the meeting. The goal is to attend the meeting again Saturday and to lose weight. I had a 1.2 pound gain this week. For a total of 3.6 gain. ☹ But I am going to turn this around. Not worried, just going to keep at it is all. I got my 7000 steps in yesterday. My eating could have been better. I had a salad last night instead of fast food.
08/14 395.8 Salty foods but an overall ok day.
08/15 394.4 back down or a maintain. I will take it…. Struggling. Trying to eat better today. I got my 7000 steps yesterday and will get them today. Keep rocking it you all--I see a lot of losses! :flowerforyou: If you have not lost today that is ok too because you are here and checking in and that is what counts and will help you on your journey. It will help us all get there. Keep up the good work Everyone!! :flowerforyou:
08/16 392.6 Another blue day and another blue dot day yesterday too! Not enough blue dot days this week to have a loss this week at WW's weigh in tomorrow. But I am going for weigh in and staying for meeting also. I will make 5 days in a row 7000 step goal this week if I get it today which I will. Eating has been pretty good today too. My goal this weekend is to get in the 380's by Monday. I have a BBQ tomorrow and I must make Mac and Cheese for it. Not sure what I was thinking when I volunteered to bring M&C. But I have a plan. As long as I don't have 2 bad days on weekend, I usually do ok. But 2 bad days is never good. Have a great weekend everyone!! :flowerforyou:
08/17 388.4
08/18 389.4 I stayed in the 380’s today! Hopefully I can stick it tomorrow. I had a lot of salt today and not enough water. The good thing is I have tomorrow to drink my normal water quota. It is normal for me not to get in enough water on the weekends. After 2 weeks of gains at WW I finally lost yesterday, and it was my 2nd week staying for the meeting! It was a very good meeting -- just what I needed. I got my 7000-step goal 7 days in a row this week! And today over 10,000 steps with a DVD and some cleaning! I am afraid to increase step goal. I am going to leave it at 7000 for a while. This is a 1st. Yesterday and today I did a Leslie Sasone dvd. I am getting back on track…yeah!! I got some more de-cluttering done this weekend. Next weekend I am going on a short weekend trip with friends. So I need to plan well. Have a good week MFP friends! :flowerforyou:
08/19 387.6 Almost at goal for this challenge! Got step goal in today and another blue dot day.
08/20 387.6 I missed my goal a little bit, but I feel good about my progress this past 10 days for sure. I lost 5 lbs. in 10 days! That is not too shabby at all. No happy dance for me this time. I want to be more consistent 1st.
<<<Round 86 goal weight: 387 >>>
My journey … ("I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!")In 2003 Weighed over 600 lbsMy highest weight was 611 in 2003. Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but I’m Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goals…… and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.:flowerforyou: SW 373.4 - 1/3/19 GW 348 - 12/31/19 :flowerforyou:Round 64 - SW 373.4 EW 369 (-4.4)
