Kelly, one of the things that attracted me to line dancing is that it is not partner dancing. For years I've told people that I don't make my husband dance with me and he doesn't make me play golf.
Jennifer, welcome. When I found MFP and this thread at age 62, I had been unsuccessful at losing weight for decades and had never been part of an online group. This thread changed my life. I lost weight, kept the weight off, and acquired lots of great women to chat with at any time of the day or night.

Only two of those places aren't coastal. We have a sign in our house that says, "If you are lucky enough to live near the water, you are lucky enough." My father was in the Coast Guard when I was born and I was named after a Coast Guard ship so the ocean is in my soul.
Yesterday was Day 2 of the bathroom remodel. It is going well with no expensive surprises. The noise and presence of extra people has been traumatic for the pets. Jake has taken the dogs on extra walks and Bernie, the cat, has spent the day under the bed. After years of living in a house with two bathrooms, it is strange to have only one bathroom and increases my gratitude for the second bathroom.
Our house is 1800 sq feet and feels just right for us with the pets running around. We lived one summer in a 36 foot fifth wheel and got along great enough to consider becoming full time RVers. I see the house we're in now as our forever home even though Jake talks about wanting to live in Canada (or Wales, or Yorkshire, or whatever place with beautiful scenery he sees on TV).

Hi ladies!
I moved in with my parents three years ago thinking I would only be here six months. It was too stressful to think I might leave at any time so I finally settled in. It saves money, and helps to be near family. By the way, my uncle is home and doing very well. Thanks for all the well wishes!

Heather ~ When are you leaving for your cruise? Getting ready would be really stressful for me...I admire you.
Carol in GA2 -
Annie - so pleased your uncle is home and doing well.
I am plumbing the depths of determining the advisability of using the de minimis indirect cost process for the federal grant I'm working on... which is almost as interesting as it sounds, according to your tedium tolerance levels.

I compare it to hitting yourself on the head with a hammer because it feels so good when you stop. On the plus side, I get the next four days off, as I'm using my vacation days up before the fiscal year turns on Sept. 30. There's always a sunny side somewhere.5 -
about girlfriends, have always had them and now that I am on my won, i have more.. I enjoy it so..I have those friends that would do anything for me and I them.. I am truly blessed..

Meanwhile, I'm frantically trying to get EOY stuff submitted by Sept 30 ... we operate a quarter behind to allow for error correction.
THEN I'm hoping to take a day off to make a 3-day weekend.3 -
Carol - yes, it is a full time job and I find it very stressful - leaving keys with people, setting anti burglar lights, remembering all the stuff you need these days for electric charging, emptying fridge, trash, sorting out indoor plants, etc. That's before you start packing! But I just KNOW it is worth it.
I am nervous about it being a new-to-us ship, as we had the exact same cabin for three years running on the old ship. I am a very nervous person. However, all three cruises with Saga (they are exclusively for over 50s, and most are over 70 ) have been beyond amazing and worth all the money and effort.

Gal Pals Besides you lovely ladies, I have 5 pretty awesome Gal Pals in Nebraska from grade school & high school - one (Lynette) has Alzheimer's Disease now, which is heartbreaking to the rest of us. Locally, I have one close friend who was a former neighbor, a dear friend who was a classmate in post-graduate school, & of course my partner! So I am rich with wonderful Gal Pals!!! I am an introvert & perfectly content with my own company, so I really consider myself fortunate that my Gal Pals still claim me, as I am not always proactive, much as I love them. I would like to find a "younger friend" and an "older friend". My beloved "older friend" (Bonnalynn) passed away at the age of 97 a few years ago, and I miss her. She was sooooo much fun! She had cocktail napkins imprinted with: "The Hearse Doesn't Stop At the Bank!"

Lisa: You have lived so many places! I’m glad you’ve found the one that feels like home. :flowerforyou:
Kim: My closest personal friends are within easy driving distance, but my children have moved so far away that it sometimes hurts my heart. I will get to see my daughter’s farm for the first time next month when I travel to see her. DH will not accompany me on this trip. :ohwell:
Heather: Happy Birthday! Welcome to 70! Glad you had a wonderful celebration. Enjoy your upcoming cruise. I detest watching politics on TV, especially when DT is speaking. We have loads of stations, so it is relatively easy to avoid political BS unless I choose to watch the news. I have all of my favorite shows recorded. I saw a little of the royal family in the British news as part of a news cast yesterday.
Jennifer: Welcome! :flowerforyou:
Today I plan to power-wash the outside of our sailboat. It has been neglected in that regard. We’ve been sure that the engine and batteries are up to par but we’ve neglected the outside. DH can’t get down there at all, so It is up to me. Sailing was our joy and pleasure for many years. DH's diagnosis of MS came about because of travel issues aboard the boat on our last trip to the San Juan Islands of WA & Gulf Islands of British Columbia. When we got home from that last trip to WA & BC we went to a doctor who diagnosed his MS. Not too long after that we found a good MS doctor. DH is holding fairly steady but he can't do all the things he could do before. The RV fills the job of providing travel & a bit of adventure fairly well but I still miss sailing and anchoring out in the boat.

Took the deep water class today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Kelly
Coffee Meyers Body Sculpt Workout DVD.
Found out that the teacher for our Wed. water class is retiring and that was her last class. I think next week I’ll go on Friday. I know the instructor, she is the one that does the Electric Slide all the time but I can live with that.
After exercise went to the Salvation Army and found a nice sweater. Then stopped at Big Lots who don’t carry the oat bran so I called the company and they are going to send me some coupons since they’re no longer on the website, also got cookies for Vince on sale, they didn't have his bread. Then went to WalMart then home. Trust me, all this is right on the way. Ceramics tonight. Will probably go in the pool in a bit. Got dinner ready to be microwaved.
Welcome everyone new
Bananas – one of our cats would bite when she wanted attention. She’s gotten so much better but she still nibbles when she wants attention. One thing that we were told to do is whenever she starts to bite, give her a chew toy to chew on
Off to the pool….

Reinventing Rhonda - Day 24
Did my daily walk yesterday and have already done so this morning. I'm aiming to walk each morning - doing so thus far has been just sort of meh. My mind thinks I'm too busy to fit it in. Then later a little voice pops up to tell me to walk, and I do, but I want to make the habit of doing it at a somewhat regular time each morning like I used to.
Yesterday was good for working on the garage clean up. I uncovered my recumbent bike, set up the old 32" TV and DVD player, packed my car for dropping items off at Goodwill (which I'll do today) and moved a bunch of stuff around . . . I now have a private workout room. One of my October aims will be to use it
I have been wondering for a few days whether MFP's suggested total CI for me was off, so last night checked on a couple of online calorie calculators and sure enough the numbers were different. I did a reset. Rather than 1,440 CI, MFP now suggests a 1,200 daily calorie limit, and I was able to come under all of my limits yesterday, except one. Fiber. I exceeded my fiber limit. Things are moving along again (figuratively and literally :-) This morning's scale showed a 1lb loss. Yea!
Thank you all who offered info on snacks and fiber! Lots of good suggestions. Some I've already began to implement. The Quest protein bars (suggested by Lisa) looked yummy online - lots of flavors to choose from. I'll pick up a few when I grocery shop later today.

Welcome Jessica Congrats on your weight loss thus far
SuziQ I'm so sorry for having to lose two of your loves.
Allie I like the hanging pots on the wall. I wanted to do that, but my pots aren't as pretty.
Katla I've done a bit of sailing, myself, including the San Juans and BC waterways. I've done other travel as well. But those waterways, islands and inlets are the most beautiful, most majestic of all of the places I've been. Great memories for you and your DH to hang on to
Michele in NC When working in my garage yesterday, I located my DVDs. We'll be in touch

Today is World Dream Day!
"Held September 25th, World Dream Day is the ONLY global participatory day held with the express purpose of encouraging and activating ideas, goals, and dreams.
Every year, through live and online events, World Dream Day inspires, empowers, and ignites individuals, families, businesses, and communities all over the world to rise up, declare new possibilities and take a stand for what they truly desire and deserve – for themselves, and our world."
SueBDew - Wishing your puppy a quick recovery!
Cheri - We'll be in your neck of the woods in November. Maybe we can meet up!
Rho - I also love the outdoors and skinny dipping (although the chance hasn't presented itself in way too long!) but my desire for tent camping has diminished over the years. Now we have a small RV and I'm happy to have a real bed up off the ground. Love the color in your kitchen!
Jennifer - Welcome and congratulations on your commitment to your health! I'm looking forward to getting to know you.
Barbie - I love your "live near the water" sign! I've never lived on the coast but until we moved to Albuquerque I'd always lived near enough to visit. Those twelve landlocked years were difficult for me, and now I try to get to the beach as often I can. It is my happy place. We don't enjoy it as much in the summer but we're planning a weekend trip this fall.
It is 90 degrees here today, with a heat index of 97. They say this is one of the hottest, driest Septembers on record. I am SO over this and ready for fall.
Wishing you all the chance to follow your dreams!

Happy Wednesday. I am on day 3 of my six days of 12 hours. I can do this. Just need to stay on track with my eating. DH is going to dentist this morning for a bad tooth. I did not realize he was having problems until he said he had made an appointment.
Got to love being the supervisor. My night person called in sick for tonight. I am one person short and new hire doesn't start until Oct 8. Other night person is on vacation. So I am working 6 am to midnight and be back in the morning to work 6a-6p. Still have 6a-6p Friday and Saturday. Be so glad when we are back to full staff.

OLIVIA!!!!! Oh my goodness. Adorable, Karen.4

Karen ~ Olivia is beautiful! Love that sweet smile.
Vicki ~ What a grueling schedule! My sister left nursing last Spring after more than 25 yrs mostly due to the fact that many of the young nurses just couldn't be depended on and she was left with too many tasks that should have been taken on by others.

Girlfriends- 1 my kids God Mom who lives far away that’s it y here. I find like Debby they used me to say I was with yet they were not.Got tired of it plus their husband asks going to make them mad because telling him the truth.Nope wasn’t with her! Only 1 faithful friend left after I weeded the losers out! Family only y her she was raised with me built a trust bond because of it.
Weight staying at 156.7 range Doctor scale confirms bathroom scale is accurate.
Gynocologist-$135 cash 💵 to find out everything okay except where I had my surgery. They were talking about adhesions y bladder surgery more tests then other doctors to perform surgeries. They were discussing 2 surgeries being laid up for 5months ...I got JR he needs me up not in bed. Adhesion is either in my Fallopian tube or stomach from his birth. So yeah not big on that thought of exspensive surgery route no one to take care of JR...my Dad votes wait till he’s in school or old enough to take care of himself more for mother-in-law y me.
I peed on the Doctor bed getting up started crying was so embarrassing was able to stop myself mid leak. Stupid peri menopause thought my period was over days ago I started bleeding heavily the minute she started the Pap smear .So embarrassing. Luckily she was a Woman she has seen it all doesn’t announce like a man would or pop off a joke. Hated their questions they dig deep into my miscarriage y still birth more than the live ones! Depressed from having to explain it talk about it . Was long time ago.Had to explain why hospital records faxed over about pregnancy with Daughter called me a liar y false pregnancy.Showed her my Daughter she’s alive y kicking so no not false pregnancy more like dumb Doctor who decided I wasn’t pregnant with her stopped me from getting medical care until I was 7months along! So just told them Country hospital versus City one. Hick Doctors versus city professionals.Got them off my back l. They want $250 for next visit sonogram talk surgeries really don’t want surgeries so not sure how to cancel the appointment but want to badly! I’m not ready for more surgeries I need to take care of JR.
Amber Tx
