Lanette, your “drop a seed” then back off and let it sprout or not reaped a bountiful harvest this morning. After nearly a week of letting it germinate in peace and silence, Joe announced today that “We could go” to the Doctor on Thursday morning. While he was getting big thank you hugs and kisses, he said something about wanting “you to be happy.” Glad I kept Tracey's cast iron skillet in reserve
Barbie “Part of the problem is that I like walking, dancing, and riding my exercise bike a whole lot more than I like strength training. “ Truer words never spoken. ;}
Rho, I loved and hated the J.Jill shelf bra tanks. Most comfortable “bra” I've ever put on my body, but had to return 'em, just not enough support for the wayward girls. Trying this next: https://www.jcpenney.com/p/leading-lady-breathable-cotton-racerback-sports-bra/pp5005900709?pTmplType=regular wish me luck!
Pip it's 9:23 and my mouth is watering for that Chocolate-tini!
Rita ((hugs)). Hate that feel-crappy-for-no-reason feeling.
SuziQ good luck with the natural sugar alternatives and congrats for dumping the artificals. Have a bottle of monkfruit drops I could send you. Tried 'em once, not to my taste Mayo clinic debunks the “People with cancer shouldn't eat sugar, since it can cause cancer to grow faster” myth here:

Of course we shouldn't eat "large amounts of sugar", Mama was right "Moderation in everything."
Only thru pg 72 but time to get up and at 'em. Let's see, do I vacuum before or after I comb Tumble? Hahahahahahahaha!

So I give up, can’t catch up so starting over. Hope I didn’t miss too much. I will go back and keep skimming later.
Not much new here. My puppy had surgery last week so I have been staying close to home. He will be able to go for walks next week but so far it is still too hot for him.
Allie- the pictures of Chester reminds me of my pup. Is he a *kitten* Tzu?
Hope you are all doing well and staying well.

Hello Ladies of 50!! My Sweetheart and I turned 50 in July and we ran the Spartan Obstacle Races in Hawaii. Our goal was 50 miles for our 50th. It was grueling but worth every step-mile-bruise and pain 😂 I have been racing for the past 2 years. My bucket list was to see all 50 States in 50 years and Alaska is my last and heading there next summer 🛳
* I’ve got some amazing Gal-Pals! They encourage and motivate me every day. Some I dine with. Some I exercise with. Some I vacation with. Some I craft with. But there is always room for more!!

"Cheri - Wow, that sounds like a lot of places although I know some people have even longer lists. I moved from my childhood home in Bellaire (Houston) to Bryan/College Station, then Austin, Albuquerque, Claremore, and back to Austin. Now we're in Taylor which is still in the Austin metro area. I think we'll need to make at least one more move and I'm hoping it'll be back to Bryan, but I hate moving. I tend to put down deep roots, which is undoubtedly part of why I'm so lonely out now. I haven't managed to put down any roots here yet.

We moved in childhood for my dad's work. I moved in adulthood when the hubs wanted a change. Our move from Akron, Ohio was b/c he lost his job and wanted to return to a warm weather state. I specifically said anywhere on the east coast would suit me fine. Well he got offered a position @ Texas A&M and here we are in College Station! We will be here until he decides to retire then.....

Honestly thought I'd live in Mountain Home, ID, someday, and very nearly landed in Mountain Home, AR, but there wasn't a ton of work opportunities for my husband there... the ex- was stationed at Nellis AFB, so did the Las Vegas thing for four years, which was plenty. Loved going up to Red Rock Canyon and Mt. Charleston, though. Unfortunately, at the time, I weighed in the mid-250s, and was not moving around a whole lot.
As far as the "real pros at moving around," I've given up my professional status! This is meant to be our forever home, and we're learning how to be like other people, you know, the ones who don't plan on moving a few years from now, as we've both been that for more than a decade (and for me, for more than three decades!). It's an interesting transition in my life.
Later, y'all,

My husband and I have been where we are for 5 years and I expect we'll have to be here for a couple more. But then ... it depends. In a way, I'd like to move back to the mainland Australia and in a way I'd like to move to Canada. But it may depend on work. It might be easier for me to get work in Australia ... and the annual leave is definitely better. But you never know.
If we do move to mainland Australia, then there will be a move to Canada at some point after that.
And if we move to a decently sized place ... then there will be the downsizing move ... and probably another downsizing move after that.
There is no way I want to live in a house that I have to maintain as I get older, and especially if/when my husband passes on.
My grandmother lived in a nice, 2-bed condo for about 12 years or so until she was about 95 (I think) ... I could see me doing that. Then she moved into her last place, a studio apartment in a semi-assisted living place. I could see me doing that too. But I could see me doing that earlier than 95.
I'm envisioning distributing my stuff, downsizing, streamlining etc. at some point in my 80s so that I could live in a small apartment with all the amenities (nursing staff, library, gym, laundry, gift shop, etc.) and dinner served at 6 pm.
But having said all that, there's talk that the UK might start allowing Australians (and maybe Canadians) to come and live without all the hoops to jump through ... if that happens, there might be a move to the UK for a year or two just so that we could be close to France.
Who knows!
Definitely not ready to settle yet!

Machka - When you move, you take your kitty with you! My brother spent two years in Norway and had his two Brittany spaniels shipped over. It was a major pain in the behind, too, but they are family members so when the family moved so did the dogs. You're wise to hesitate if you're not sure relocating with a pet would be feasible for you.
Just gave Philip a shopping list for the week. He says he doesn't mind picking the meals but figuring out what we have and what to buy is too hard. {eyeroll} I took his menu and made the shopping list today but I'm still going to think about doing the shopping online and putting in a curbside pickup order for him for next week. Overall the whole thing has just annoyed me and has not saved me any time, so I need to find some other chore he can help with instead.
-Yvonne in TX
It might not be too bad shipping a cat to Canada, but going the other way, to Australia, would have been a real pain. When I moved here in 2009, I had one of my 3 cats left but she was in her early teens and cranky. So I opted to leave her with my mother who loves cats. I missed her, but I knew she was well taken care of. But it is something to think about now.
We use online grocery shopping and a delivery service to our door. It's so much more convenient than going out and doing the shopping!!

Rori - Your tummy is definitely more svelte in the second photo. Way to go
M in Oz The photos of you and your DH were amazing! And they're inspiring. Thank you for sharing
Heather UK It's hard losing someone you're close to You and your friend wearing red tops, adorable!
Terri Congrats on your weight loss :tada: You are really, really, close to your goal now!!!
Barbara - There are Bones & Balance classes offered at the my local senior center. Maybe its worth it for me to check them out. Falling down in advancing age, no thank you! P.S. I'm sending back my J Jill tops also. I ordered L this time and they are way too tight
Allie I'm glad you're feeling better.
Camping and Homes I love the outdoors, skinny dipping and outdoor showers. I don't mind a good tent as long as it has my cot that is 16" from the ground and my 12" air mattress on top. A few days in nature, exploring, reading a book and sleeping, topped off by a night or two in a good hotel with room service and a Jacuzzi - I'm in haven I've sailed the west coast from Mexico to Seattle, and Maui to Lincoln City, Oregon but don't do cruises despite my youngest son working for National Geographic as a 1st mate and being able to do so for free. Being on a cruise scares me
My homes number 28 in 20 places. I've been in my current home (an apt) 10 years and began itching to move after 5, just before meeting my BF. He convinced me that where I was was awful good, and it is. Two years ago, he moved in - not getting my "move fix" prompted me to re-doing the apt. . . .
My kitchen before and after: management was kind to provide new stove, fridge, sink faucet, flooring and DW

Kim - we love our regular programmes that punctuate our day. We watch the same things at the same time every day. HATE IT when they switch them about for any reason. Grrrrrrrrrr!
Last night's dancing was fun. When I arrived there was a 70 helium balloon and a card! DH and I also had to start a snowball dance, which was a stretch. But they are a great crowd. There is a very attractive young man called Janek, and he said he always dances best with me.! DH is beginning to get the idea of leading, but it's a hard task.
We have our French Circle tonight. It would be easier not to go, but I think it's important to make yourself and you never regret it. We are going to eat at home first because they have moved the venue and I don't want to use up too many calories on pizza, which is the nearest place. It's further away from our house, but a bus goes there.
Plus, I carry on packing, last minute laundering etc. It's so damp out that clothes are not drying. Just about to start on jewellery. Then medicines. Documents, money.

Hello everyone.
Little to no sleep last night (maybe 2 hours). Glad I am able to work remote and VP understands my sleep patterns. I am a really good sleeper until I am not. Mostly due to underlying stress (personal - self-inflicted) where I wake up slightly and then cannot go back to sleep and am up. Got 30 minute walk in. Will try to get another 30 minutes of activity in before the end of the day.
Barbara – Funny, last week I looked at monk fruit as an alternative and noticed dextrose in the ingredients and decided it needed to stay on the shelf. I am still searching……but for now sticking with the most natural forms – honey, agave, molasses, maple syrup, and the dreaded organic sugar (better than the stuff I was using). I have been experimenting with using bananas and applesauce for baked goods. Found both are fine with some recipes, but not all.
Thank you for the link regarding sugar and cancer. Within the past year two cancer patients/survivors I know were told to stay away from it by their oncologists (one was being treated at the University of Miami). It seems not only do we get incorrect news. Doctors do too. Found this interesting article on the subject.

pipcd34 – Beautiful sun between the mountains pic.
Close FriendsI have had many close girlfriends over the years. And, although distance has kept some of us apart we still can pick up the phone and start a conversation like it was yesterday. Some others have drifted and others have died (breaks my heart). I have been trying to expand my local gal circle but it is challenging. Recently, I have been taking flower arranging classes, meetups, painting classes with neighbors, etc. and although I have extended myself... I will continue to put myself out there – close friends are like finding diamonds so a little work is required and one never knows where, how, when or why one will suddenly click with someone.
Camping - Love being outdoors and do not mind sleeping under the stars although I do prefer a tent and electricity on site. This is a picture of one camp site with my dear boyfriend Greg who passed away in January of 2018. For those of you who have read previous posts......yes, I am starting to consider myself a black widow......better to have loved and lost than to never love at all.
Weight has been holding at 182.3 for the past three days. It’s great that I am maintaining but would like to see another pound off before the end of the month. Still very happy with results thus far – I am down 13 pounds since August 24th (not shabby for a 55-year old menopausal gal – LOL!). And, am still losing at the same rate as I was at 45 (my last go-around with getting back to healthy). So all in all the past month has been good.
Still working upon October goals. I am adding another - get personal stress items under control! Review and document a complete review of finances to include current and retirement goals (this is the theme in my head - getting it updated and documented will stop the brain.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day.5 -
Hello everyone! I am brand new here (to this thread), have been here @ FitnessPal for about a month.
My name is Jennifer, but here I can answer to that or whitewave39 😉 ...whichever you like! I am 69yo, a widow (for just over 5 years now), a Catholic, a Mom of eight (all grown now) and a Grandma of eight (so far.) I am also a freelance artist ~ sometimes I sell my work, sometimes it's just for fun LOL.
I never had much problem maintaining my normal weight of 135# but after we got married I had all 8 of the kids within 9.5 years, with 2 miscarriages in between. And THAT, dear Ladies, can do a real number on your body, believe me!! So, for nearly 20 years I was stuck @ 251# ~ every time I lost 20-30# it seemed that I was pg again! So I guess I just gave up trying to lose any more...Then after my 2nd son was born (we have 2 boys, bookends, with 6 girls in between, including twins) I went thru an early menopause...so that was that!
Back in 2008-2009 I lost 130# ~ counting calories, going nuts on the treadmill...lots of walking. I was using the "CalorieCount" section of the website About.com. But after my husband passed away (he was sick for over 20 years with all the effects of Agent Orange) I lost a lot of my motivation to keep it off...and consequently gained back about 50#.
I am so sick of not being able to wear most of my clothes!! And I feel sluggish and lazy half of the time; lack of sleep and being depressed has done a number on me as well. Plus, I have arthritis in nearly every joint, so moving can sometimes actually be quite painful, which doesn't help.
Anyway, about a month ago, I was staying @ my daughter's house (she lives in Wisconsin, I am in Michigan) and we were talking about FitnessPal ~ she & her husband have been members for a while now ~ I decided to re-join and get SERIOUS about taking better care of myself. I joined a weight loss challenge, which started on 2 Sept ~ and even tho' it was embarrassing to admit I logged my weight @ 187#. Every week I started to weigh myself...and so far, as of this past Monday, I am down to 181.8#.
I AM THRILLED!!! 😁💪
I decided to join this thread so I can (hopefully) get more support here online. I never really joined in @ CalorieCount and it sometimes felt like I was doing it all alone...maybe this time it will be different, eh?
At least ... that's what I'm hoping.
Anyway, that's enough about me ~ hope I didn't bore you all...it's nice to be here and I hope we can all be "friends" ~ or, what ever they call "knowing" someone online?? hehehe 😊7 -

Good morning all! Happy Wednesday! I got up at 4:30 this morning and was able to get my exercise done earlier than normal! Yea, me! The week is going well with the little ones. Everyone seems to be on the upswing, health wise. The littlest two (ages 14 mos and 12 mos) are teething to beat the band; and extra grumpy because of it. But other than that, they are moving around well and babbling non-stop; so all good.
Rori- Your progress/success is evident in your pics! You look wonderful (but I bet that is nothing on how it makes you feel!)
Betsy in WA- Well, hello! So nice to see you back!
Suebdew- Glad to hear your pup is on the mend! I can't believe how hot it has been this year, in your area!
Girlfriends- I haven't had girlfriend(s) to do things with in many years. Since high school. I have many friends/acquaintances, but no close friends. The closest to that is my friend Carla (who visited me earlier this summer). She has always been my dearest friend and my "hide-the-body" friend. As of now, we communicate via email as she is in New Mexico, close to where Rita is living. We have had a few years where we lost touch, so now we spend most of our discussions catching up. I miss having girls to meet up with; and I especially miss dancing with friends. Hubby doesn't dance. Never has. Sometimes I wonder how a girl who lived for the weekends so she could go out dancing, ended up with a non dancer?! My year in Mexico, when I was twenty, was spent on the beach, then working nights at the Hard Rock, then going out after work and dancing until 5 or 6 am...then sleeping on the beach, working, dancing...repeat. lol Add some beer and tequila to the picture and a year of that is about all a twenty year old girl could handle.
Places I have lived:
Grand Rapids, MI (20 years)
Cancun, Mexico (1 year)
Grand Rapids, MI (5 years)
Grand Haven, MI (27 years/three different homes)
SO...I have lived within the same 40 mile radius, in West Michigan, my entire life with the exception of one year. lol kinda boring; but there are worse places to be.
Well, kiddos arriving. I am packing a snack and we will take our long walk (five miles) today. Bringing our "treasure" bag so that we can collect treasures that we find. The temp is a comfortable 70F right now and there is a wonderful gusty breeze blowing. The sky is purple as the sun is rising. Just beautiful. I see a great day ahead! Hope you ladies have one, as well! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Good morning. Is it Wednesday already? Yikes!
Barbara AHMOD - great news about going with your DH to the doc. I see you must have received the CD I sent you entitled titled "Greatest Hits - Oldies but Goodies" with the subliminal message "If Mommy ain't happy, nobody's happy!"
Kim - thank you for the suggestion about checking the belt on the vacuum. I will do that today, I believe they sell replacements at Walmart. After rain tomorrow we're in for a spate of cool nights (30's) and sunny days. DH announced that "we'd" (he'd) steam clean the living room carpet this weekend. "If Mommy ain't happy, la lala.... "
Some places I've lived - I've dipped my toes in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
South Bend, IN
Muncie, IN (Ball State)
Arlington, VA
Issaquah, WA
now south of Olympia, WA
Friends - my very best friend is 20 years younger than myself. She's still working so we never have a chance to have lunch or do things together. Email or call each other daily. I try to stop in at her workplace (my former workplace) for a quick yak and hug once a week.
Welcome all of you new ladies! Love reading about your adventures. Please remember to give us a name or something to call you by on each post and idea of where you hail from so we can keep you straight.
Gotta get going. Make it a splendid day, ladies!

@Machka9 I had a 1000 sq foot home to my self and a 18000 sq feet garden for 5 years. now I have a 2 room 500 sq feet. and I have a hard time taking care of it. I could use another room or so and an itsy bitsy courtyard size garden, but I don't want to take care of more. small is also ecological of cours (less expensive to heat, etc.)4
-
KJ - I know you are super busy and probably don't have the time, but for most dance classes (salsa, swing, jazz etc) you don't need a partner as you swap round. That is not an excuse! Being exhausted from childcare is.

went to the café this morning; the café cat was very expressive since I go there less often. meowed as he came over, settled next to me for some time rather assertive to say the least, in requesting patting, when I stopped after a while to continue my work, he started biting. we weren't in agreement with that tactic. it was funny.
I have to work on a translation this week. short time line. I like it but I'm not that concentrated. I want to get through 1st run-through today.
it's not that hard but not that easy either. it's not big concepts but there are poetic things which require subjective choices.
work has been full of ups and downs. with students classes are fine. stuff to work out in each of the 3 schools. that is tiring.1 -
Welcome to those who are new! We're glad you're here!
Spent my "me" time this morning before and after the gym designing an appliance bar to go where, at the moment, we have a horrible little rolly cart made from MDF, which I hate, where the microwave lives. I want it to both cover the entire side of the refrigerator and hold the countertop icemaker, coffeemaker and microwave. My husband is amazing at taking what I think up and creating it for me, so I design it on Excel to give him an idea of what I want, and he and I put our heads together to get somewhere close to making it a reality. He builds them, and I finish them. The wrought iron bracket is just to give him an idea for what I want on the sides in the large area, and that I will probably have to find at one of the junk shops or online. My husband's a dab hand with wood, but he's not an ironworker (yet).
Got about 15 minutes before I need to be in the shower, and have almost cooled down enough to get through it without still sweating on the other side!
Later, y'all,
