THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

UGW: 125.0 lbs.
Day/Weight/Comment
09/12/129.7/Met my calorie goal yesterday. Zumba plus walked 1.5 miles.
09/13/129.6/Met my calorie goal. Walked 3 miles.
09/14/129.2/Amazed I didn’t gain from salt and calories. It will probably catch up with me tomorrow. Over by an estimated 800 calories (dinner at a Mexican restaurant). 😕On a positive note, I took a yoga class. Will do some more serious calorie burning today.
09/15/127.9/If every day could be like yesterday, I’d be so healthy and fit! I had lots of free time, so I ran one mile, took a Zumba class, walked the dog and spent a few hours working in the yard. Also met my calorie goal.
09/16/127.3/Not as active as Saturday, but did some yard work and walked the dog one mile. Ate French fries for the first time all year, and they did not sit well. 😕 It seems my system can’t handle fried foods anymore since I avoid them so much. Met my calorie goal.
09/17/128.5/I’ve been expecting a bounce, since my weight’s been dropping too quickly over the last several days. Met my calorie goal and did a brutal 70-minute power yoga class. Still on track to meet my goal for this round.
09/18/128.3/Didn’t log everything yesterday, but I know I was over my calorie goal by at least a few hundred. On the plus side, I took a four-mike walk at sunset. Beautiful late summer evening here in WI!
09/19/128.0/I did it! A low-cal day coupled with an hour each of Zumba and yoga helped. Thanks for organizing this challenge. It helped keep me on track.8 -

@ajhouse We’re on the same page! My goal weight is also 125. I’m planning a maintenance range of 124-128. Like you, I’m always happy to see 120-something on the scale. 🙂 Keep up the good work!
@kellycz My goal weight is 125. I would like to set maintenance between 122-125, but I am happy as long as I stay in the 120s for now. I really need to find some time and some jogging or other exercise back in, to help with the last few pounds, to tone, and I just feel better having that time.3 -

09/10 – 128.8 – and back up again, but its almost TOM so I am sure some of it is bc of that. At least I am staying in the same range, practice for maintenance I guess
09/11 – 128.6
09/12 – 128.6 - Had my annual biometric screening at work yesterday and for the first time I was in the normal weight category (right in the middle of it) and had a normal body fat percentage. Now just waiting on the results from the blood screening.
09/13 – 127.8 – glad to see a loss again
09/14 – 127.8
09/15 – 127.4
09/16 – 127.4
09/17 – 127.8 – again. I would love to see more loss, but I am happy that I am at least in my goal weight range.
09/18 – 128.8 – I think some of this is probably delayed from the baby shower I went to Sunday, and Mexican last night (even though I was pretty good)
09/19 – 129.0 – ugh. Ending this round +.2

Round 88 wasn’t any better than the last few rounds. I’m going to keep joining though and keep trying. I need to get my diet under control and start doing some form of exercise again.

I re-started this journey in May (for the millionth time) - I didn't even know then how unhappy I was. It isn't the weight that is coming off, but the realization that I am in control - I make the decisions. "You are the author of your own life story; you can start a new chapter anytime you choose". This round might be tough. I am on my own for the next couple of weeks. In the past I have gone out and bought a big bag of “junk” and perched on the couch reading books and watching TV. This time...I already have several meals pre-cooked and fruit in the house. I also am planning to start back working out...nothing to strenuous but I have been fairly sedentary for the last two years after some health issues. It is time to no longer use that excuse to sit on my butt so much!

It is a shame for a woman to grow old without ever seeing the strength and beauty of which her body is capable. - Author Unknown
I don't want to live whatever time I have left on this earth not having experienced what I am capable of doing. I don't want to make the excuses..."I am too old"..."I am not healthy enough"..."I am too fat"..."I am not smart enough"...etc...etc. There might be valid reasons why I can't do something but there should never be excuses...only choices.

LTG: 110.0 lbs
STG: 120 (next milestone and 10 pounds to goal weight)
Goals for 10 day Challenge:
- loose 2.4 pounds
Day/Weight/Comment
09/10 121.9 Fast start to the round! A 1.3 drop is likely a water whoosh (particularly after the drops in last round at the end), so expecting weight tomorrow will be back up! (will enjoy the drop for now LOL) Ate lunch out and tried to guesstimate, and may end up being over for the day on calories. Dinner tonight was from SunBasket (which provides total macros, but not for the ingredients) - I did not use all of the dressing/oil so that may balance everything out in the end! Good day on exercise.
09/11 122.6 up as predicted, but really on track and part of my typical weight loss pattern. Girl Power this morning and spin for cardio later in the day. Having pasta tonight so need to preplan carbs and fat for the day to try to stay on track.
09/12 122.8 Some DOMS after deadlifts (starting at 95 lbs)
09/13 122.4 Latin Dance and express cycle class for cardio
09/14 122.4 Xtrain + workout Stage 2A from Strong. Over did wine and had a great dinner out (was low carb at least other than the wine) so treated last night as a cheat night. Nice to see weight did not
09/15 122.2 Xtrain - focused on increasing average power during the cycle half of class (increased over previous week and up to a PWR of 3.6 - best yet!)
09/16 122.4 Busy with work so catching up on posting for the last few days! Weight has been hovering in the 122.X's for the last several days after initial whoosh. But gain from yesterday is muscle according to scale, so will take that as a plus! Girl power this am (working on bench press primarily (starting at 55 lbs), but also did a lot of quad work with walking lunges. Spin class for cardio this evening. weight training often leads to a slight bump (DOMS, water retention with muscle repair) and dinner tonight accidentally had too much salt (needed to replenish some after spin class though :-) but calories should be good for the day so will just wait and see what tomorrow brings!
09/17 122.4 My bio-impedance scale is still at 122.4 (but shows skeletal muscle increased a little so that's a win!), however my old scale read 122.0 (normally with calibration they are within 0.1 to 0.2 pounds of each other.) Still dealing with food retention, so increased fiber this morning. With weights and spin workouts weight often goes up (and scale is not the best measure of progress!) Today is cardio day - spin this morning before work and might try to get in another workout after work as daughter wants to have cheese and spinach ravioli for dinner with a butter/cream sauce. Sometimes it is those cheat meals that are just the trick to break through the plateaus! Still 2 days left to the round and I am not singing yet! NSV: found an old dress from the 90's navy with chartreuse polka dots back when I was in much better shape - fits great, but man those shoulder pads have got to go!
09/18 122.2 Slight drop finally! Girl Power (lifting class) this am and then spin class in the evening for cardio, so good workouts. Hoping the squats don't lead to DOMS and water retention tomorrow for final weigh in of the round. So far 1 lb loss for the round. Getting closer to goal (12.2 pounds to go) so expect that the rate would start to slow down.
09/19 121.9 Back to weight on first day of round and a nice 1.3 lb loss for the round (rate the last 10 days is 0.9/week)! Less than 12 lbs to goal so I really should adjust my expectations to lose at a slower rate than my 1.7 lbs/week trend line now that I am in the healthy weight BMI range. I have increased fiber (raw over-night oats) this week so I think as my body adjusts to the increased fiber (and more water retention with it) that the losses should be more steady, which would be preferable to the big whooshes down, jumps back up, plateaus (i.e start of this round) to repeat, so will see how this continues next round! Also have to remember that I am back to using heavier weights with the lifting, so some of the fat loss is going to be replaced by gain in muscle and a slower loss rate overall, and which shows up in the NSVs rather than on the scale. Feels like first day of Fall here (high of 75 today) so can't wait to go closet-shopping for old fall clothes!

Round 86: 129.2 (0.4 gain)
Round 87: 124.8 (4.4 loss) (going to adjust to to 126.4 so 2.8 loss as outlier whoosh is skewing stats :- )

Round 89: 121.9 (1.3 lb loss)

Ugh. I can’t seem to control myself. Worse, it seems I’m indulging in willful self-sabotage. What’s up with that? And I’ve missed my walks as I paint the house. It burns calories but it’s not the same. Sigh.
09/11 - 163.6
I did better yesterday with snacking (as in, I didn’t), but a friend gave me a gorgeous eggplant, so eggplant parmigiana for dinner. Yummy, but cheesy and therefore salty and caloric. Salads today! I also want to say that, though I haven’t been responding much as I scurry off to paint my house happy colors, I do read through everyone’s posts. Thank you for the inspiration and sense of community. You 10-day challenge people are the best.
09/12 - 163
Okie dokie.
09/13 - 163
I haven't yet conquered my late-night snacking impulse. Aaack. I didn't do this for years, but have gotten back in the bad habit. I will try to get past this one night at a time. I'd knit in front of the tv but am sure my kitten would want to help! Maybe I can just sit on my hands. I'm thinking of giving intermittent fasting a try -- stop eating at 6 or so until breakfast. Who here is or has done this, and what do/did you think of the results?
09/14 - 163
09/15 - 163
Still painting the house, room by room.... Yesterday I painted the walk-in closet in my office/studio a gorgeous tangerine. I’m half tempted to move a desk in there and make it my writing closet! This afternoon I plan to start on the actual room — a gorgeous violet. Whee! I love color! Enjoy your day, everyone!
09/16 - 165.2
AAAAACCCCKKKKKKK! What? Has to be salt, though I’ve no idea from where the past few days. Harrumph!
09/17 - 164
Hmmm. Okay, I guess. I am eating smarter, so I think my fat cells are just desperate to hang on. I do want to finish DH this round lower than I started, so planning a good day. Hope you all have a lovely day as well.
09/18 - 164.2
So much to do today — good for stifling the snack monster!
09/19 - 164
Ok, really, this has to stop. I don’t know why I’ve become so lax about my food. Serious control malfunction. I swear I’ll straighten up next round. Jeesh.

Day/Weight/Comment
09/10 - 227 - I have no words this morning. I know things take a couple of days, so I hope that my exercise and clean eating will be reflected as much as the poor choices have been these past few days.
09/11 - 226.2 - Meh...I'm not mad at the number going down.
09/12 - 222.8 - Whoosh! I think it was my TOM and the cravings and weight reflected that. Also, I got an amazing full body dumbbell workout in (NTC App) and started walking at lunch again (just 20 mins)
09/13 - 222.4 - Had a great evening yesterday. I went to the gym for Zumba Strong. I couldn't do all of the push up and plank exercises due to my rotator cuff, but I got a great workout in. Between Wednesday and yesterday I have a bit of soreness and I honestly missed this feeling. My goal for the next couple of days is to control myself over the weekend.
09/14 - DNW
09/15 - 222.6 - I'm good with this considering I usually gain during the weekend. Did 1 hour Zumba today.
09/16 - 222.2 - at point I'm ready to see the underside of 222.
09/17 - 223 - lol. I'm attributing this to sodium intake yesterday. Plus I've started using weights again. That combo will make me retain water. Upping my h2o intake today to see what happens. On a positive note I've exercised twice this week!
09/18 - DNW - Hit the ground running this morning and didn't weigh in. Need to get some cardio in today.
09/19 - 221.6 - Lunch walk and HIIT yesterday. The workout from NTC was aptly named Meltdown.9 -

I totally agree. When I saw the donuts I thought about how overly sweet the donut would be and that considering how many calories each donut was it wasn't even worth it.
Since about a month after I started Keto/LCHF, the things I HAVE tried again just no longer taste good.

Day/Weight/Comment
09/10: 136.8, have dinner with a friend tonight and a tennis lesson so hopefully the additional exercise of a lesson will combat some of the eating out aspect of the day.
09/11: 136.6, woke up with a dry throat so have a feeling I picked something up from my niece when I babysat her. Today have a family members birthday dinner out at a restaurant I really love, but might just go with soup to better my odds of getting well. Officially have a 25.9 BMI so only .9 to healthy. I started in the 32s I believe so what a difference 10 months is.
09/12:136.1, officially have a cold so didn’t go to the gym yesterday and won’t go today either. Going to sleep today to try to kick this as fast as I can
09/13: 135.9, so sick of being in bed but feel better than yesterday so I think it’s working. I have a concert on Sunday that I really hope I’m going to be ok for!
09/14: 135.7, I’m still not 100%, but hope to go back to working out a bit tomorrow or Monday
09/15: 135.7, feel much better today, but woke up very thirsty so will prioritIze water today. It’s been very warm here so might try to get some of the liquid in with popsicles for my throat at well.
09/16: 135.4, went to a concert yesterday and ate and drank more than usual, which is usually seen in 2-3 days on the scale. Hoping to be really tight on my food consumption the next 4 days to combat it.
09/17: 135.7, good day yesterday, but still haven’t gone back to exercising after being sick. I hope to be back at the gym by Wednesday. I also need to drink more water. Hoping to stay below 136 for the rest of the round.
09/18: 135.7, Going to try to take a group class today, but will make sure I make substitutions since still a bit congested. Happy to be holding steady under 136.
09/19: 135.3, only did 35 minutes on elliptical yesterday (usually do an 1 hour of exercise a day), but was nice to take it slow. Goal today is to do 45 minutes and gradually get back to where I was before I got a cold. Happy with the round progress and hope to continue losing in round 70.

09/17 …..190.6 ….. I am so glad to see another small drop. Calories were extra low yesterday but carbs on the higher side of my plan due to cabbage roll (rice & tomato sauce) and a wrap I usually don’t use. However, numbers were otherwise very good which I worked very hard to achieve. Yesterday’s stats: 976 Calories In / 3011 Calories Out. 49 Net Carbs. 19,047 Total Steps & 8.06 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 43 minutes. I rigorously cleaned cabins for 95 minutes, cleaned my house & yard with light effort for 46 minutes and I walked for 59 minutes at a pretty fast pace. Total extra calorie burn was 1048. I am working hard before my upcoming travels to minimize damage if that is even possible!
09/18 …..191.8 ….. Business Travel & restaurant meal planned with son traveling with me. Blew it a bit last night with too much of my prepped meals because some of them I’ve learned to love as much as “cheat food” so I’ve got to watch out! . Today I am so tired and dread this trip ahead of me this afternoon! Yesterday’s stats: 1630 Calories In / 2776 Calories Out. 61 Net Carbs thanks to the double helping! 17,162 Total Steps & 7.26 Total Miles. 12/13 Fitbit Step hours. [Lost one hour while at the hairdressers getting haircut). I slept 4 hours & 38 minutes and my body is SCREAMING for more today. I did some light house & yard cleaning for 48 minutes and I took a 55 minute walk at approx 4.0 mph. My total extra calorie burn was 580.
09/19 …..195.0 ….. Sadly ending round on an after travel weigh-in but glad I got my son out & about. I promise, I ate very little quantity and practiced such great restraint at the restaurant. However, the sodium was likely way above levels I use in my prep cooking at home. And I know the carbs were still high. However, I also know I didn’t eat 14,000 calories so I’ll just have to be patient for the water release. Sad to end the round this way. Great job to everyone for all the accomplishments this round. I’ve read every single post & am re-inspired by you all every round!

9/11 - 184.2
9/12 - 187 - Bloat. Elimination issues and electrolyte imbalance. Smh. I will get it together.

9/15 - 188.8 - ugh. Fluid. Must concentrate on getting my electrolytes. I'm notoriously terrible with them.
9/16 - 186.6
9/17 - 188 - I'm going to have to force myself to eat on schedule. 2pm and 10pm meals not working. Today, stick to the schedule, drink a gallon of water and ADD ELECTROLYTES!
9/18 - 186.8 - 20g carbs. IF/17.5hrs. Meal times~3:30 & 7:30. Went back to taking my adrenal supplements. I should continue taking them for another 3 or 4 months. My back (hip joint pain, groin pain from muscle tightness and knee pain too) has been aching badly for a couple of weeks and pain killers bring no real relief. The chain was pulled on my light bulb finally, it's not just muscle aches, it's my adrenals. Glad to be getting to the bottom of the cause so I can correct it.
9/19 - 186.2 - Meal times~ 12:30, 2:30, 8pm. 17g carbs.
Only one actual meal, and broke fast with some peanut butter and end3d the day with bone broth. Felt lousy all day yesterday, but did get out and run a couple of errands. Throughout the rest of the day, I worked on repotting some houseplants and potting up some cuttings I've rooted.

Goals this round: drop 2 lbs
09/10: 204.2! Coming down again from my frustrating jump up at the end of last round. Hopefully releasing water weight. Trying to stick well to my food and exercise goals and trying to drink lots of water to reduce water retention. IDK if that's actually true or not, but I remember hearing somewhere that drinking more keeps you from holding on to water weight as much. Had a good day of work today, hoping to be more productive in that sphere as well. Was letting depression get the better of me the past couple weeks and my productivity definitely took a toll.
09/11: 205... Well, I just don't know why. Had almost no appetite so did not overeat yesterday at all and yet here we are with a bump. Nothing to do but push forward... Keep sticking to it and hope for some progress. I knew losing weight with PCOS is tough so I just need to be tougher.
09/12: 203.2! Idk why yesterday I was so high and today I'm so low, but a win is a win, so I'll take it! Going to ride the wave of progress today and get some good work done, exercise hard and stick to my food goals. I made a keto pizza last night with almond flour fathead dough and it was pretty decent. I hope its leftovers make a nice lunch
09/13: 203.2! Wahoo! Staying level! Got some intense exercise in and did a good job of sticking to my food goals. Didn't get a lot of work done, had to take a half day to get to spend some time w my partner before he leaves for 10 days this evening. We played pool so that's been fun to learn
09/14: 202.8! Omygosh! So happy 😊 went for a really long kayak and saw loads of otters and seals. My first time seeing otters, so amazing. Was hard to focus my camera on them with the strong winds blowing me away. Had a great time and ate very healthy before and after.
09/15: 202.2!! Wow! Did lots of chores. Trimmed my hedges and now my forearms are ready to explode. Eating healthy and trying to be productive with chores today
09/16: 202! Really happy I havent had a pop up yet. Fingers crossed I stay down. Had an intense workout and got lots of work done. One of those days where I was so busy working in the lab, I forgot to decontaminate and go eat/drink/take any break whatsoever. Will try to drink a lot on my commute home and eat a hearty dinner when I get home to make up for the lack of food today
09/17: 201.8! Yay! Can't believe it but very happy. Did a great job of sticking to my diet today, didnt exercise. Super sore from my workout yesterday. I did walk around a lot for work and did some stretching for muscle stiffness. Hoping to hang on to this loss as my TOM begins.. would be nice to finish this challenge out nice and strong
09/18: 201! Oh man, nice dip. I expect it's an anomaly and will go up again tomorrow. Did a ton of lab work today, no time to exercise, barely any time to eat. I managed to eat my lunch on the train ride home from work so at least I didnt miss any meals today. Still really sore from Monday's intense workout, gotta stretch more.
09/19: 201! Wow! Maintained the loss overnight! Starting birth control today so we shall see how my weight fluctuates with that in the next challenge. In the meantime, working hard, sticking to my food goals and hopefully will find time to exercise today.

10: 222.6
11: 221.8 Still going strong with my eating choices. Haven't gotten back to exercising yet. I thought I'd start a couple days ago, but I think I need to start the day my kids go to their dad's. Maybe I can get a few days in to restart the habit while I don't have so much other stuff to juggle.
12: 223.8 YIKES!! I expected a gain, but maybe not that much. It's all good though. It'll be down again within a few days. I enjoyed some thin crust veggie pizza at my daughter's soccer game. I didn't overeat, but it was definitely a calorie bomb.
13: DNW Didn't sleep much last night. Not feeling so hot today, even with a 3+ hour nap. Forgot to weigh before I ate.
14: 221.7 Feeling better today. Wasn't about to eat much yesterday. Plus side...the pizza weight is gone. 😉

19: 221.8 This was a slow round for me, but I'm down 1.5lbs (instead of my 2lb goal). I'm happy with that.

After reaching a 75lb loss, personal and family stressors became way too exhausting back in June and I practically LEAPED off the wagon. Sad to say, but comfort food was my only solace w/ all my time and energy dedicated to everyone other than myself. After a summer of very little exercise and LOTS and lots of carb and sugar consumption for sanity's sake, I've regained 19 pounds ... all in my midsection, hips and thighs of course .... uggghhh.
09/13 - 217.8 That's exciting!
09/14 - DNW
09/15 - 216.4 Can't believe how fast its dropping ... 🤔 ~ but even if its just water weight, 🤗
09/16 - 215.8
09/17 - 214.6 Excited about results so far, but reality is its only the beginning. Keeping eyes focused on onederland and #2020 MAINTENANCE
09/18 - 213.8 finding this hard to believe myself, but have the pics to prove it! Obviously not complaining, lol ..... just trying to stay mindful so I don't F it up.
09/19 - 213.6 not feeling well ….. didn’t eat enough and moved my mass as little as possible yesterday because of it. Hoping to do better today.

NEVER GIVE UP! You can surprise yourself! I have.
What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

9/10 120.5 Yesterday was a good day. Burnt ends and a salad. Went to gym early and had my step goal by the end of my 40 minutes on the dreadmill.
9/11 120.5 Getting ready to go on our guild quilt retreat tomorrow. Sheesh, I have so much stuff, it’s crazy!
9/12 120.5 Last weigh-in until Monday. Looking forward to a fun weekend with 70 of my quilt guild friends.

9/16 122.0 I’m okay with this. The retreat was FANTASTIC! Good to have a weekend away with my gal pals although DH says I can never go away without him again. (That’s nice to hear after almost 50 years.) I got over 100% of my step goal each of the last 4 days. The a/c went out in my car which wasn’t a good thing since it was over 100 degrees everywhere.
9/17 121.5 I’m so upset. It’s going to be really expensive to replace the a/c unit in my car. Bad enough that we will probably just trade it in on a newer but not NEW model. It’s crazy to be that attached to a car but it is the first car I had ever chosen entirely on my own - I was 52 at the time. I’m in mourning.
9/18 121.5 Art Quilts, etc meeting today and community Bingo tonight.
9/19 122.0 Little movement yesterday, probably not enough water although I certainly had more than Plant Nanny requires. It’ll go back down.8
