Heather You look great! Can I have your dress when you're done with it???2

NYKaren, those sand sculptures are really powerful. They may be fleeting, but they evoke feelings of compassion beautifully.
SuziQ, i am a post-Bariatric surgery patient. One thing my dear dietician emphasizes is to log EVERYTHING - for the rest of your life, if need be. I’m a bit ICD, so I even log my meds (Yes, most of them are in there under one name or another.), my fluid intake, my steps and my other exercise. It’s helped immeasurably in keeping my nutrients in track for my best health as well as weight loss.
Karen In VA, is there a GoFundMe page for that child and her parents? Ronald McDonald House is amazing, but there’s still the utilities to pay while off work.
Lanette, our trumpet vine here on the hill is regularly subject to below freezing temperatures and just laughs as them. Is there a reason you haven’t planted it in-ground?
Matcha, Lanette and anyone else following communication changes - both the “reach out” replacement for “contact” and the addition of “go ahead” and “today” were suggested in one of the trainings we received. The first was seen as more personal and gentler. The two additions were along the lines of “Hey! We’re ON this for you!”, meaning that we’re actively involved in your best interest.
I suspect they’ve caught on because people intuitively strive for connection.

Matchka9 bamboo sox: the thick ones do take a long time to dry. The liner sox are quick to dry.
Walked 4 miles down the railroad tracks near my house today. The tracks have been decommissioned for years, but are still there - a former commissioner fought like hell to preserve the tracks (and managed to keep them in county control), but they are too old to repair and no funds yet to turn the RR bed into a nice hiking path. A "rail riders" group runs on the best sections in the summer in little two-person pedal cars. But they don't run on my section.
I live in a very small, very rural town, so the walk from my house to the tracks is very pleasant and we see deer, rabbits, geese, ducks and evidence of coyote along the track. We (the little dog and I) cross a major irrigation ditch, a large creek, and a river four times in four miles - over short and very sturdy railroad bridges.
This is where I intend to snowshoe this winter, between the rails. The tracks go for miles (40 plus) and I rarely see another person on them.
When I was a kid railroad tracks ran right in front of the house and my sisters and I would go for miles on the railroad. We called it "the kid highway." We were forbidden to climb on rail cars if we found them parked on a spur, but of course we did anyway. These were active railroads so we had to keep our ears open for approaching trains but "put puts" (repair cars) would sometimes "sneak up on us" and the workers in the cars would laugh at us when we suddenly lept off the tracks in surprise.
One day I told my father about a long railroad bridge we had crossed and he was astounded and said we must be wrong, that bridge was miles away. So we got in the car and drove to the bridge as per my directions and sure enough, it was the bridge that was miles away. Obviously, we were then forbidden to cross that bridge again, as the only escape if a train came was to hang on the outside of the steel girders.
Yeah, back in the day.7 -
happy birthday, Heather—you Egyptian goddess2

Heather: I hope your day was filled with joyful surprises. I know you sparkled through them all.

💕 💖 💕 all the bios and updates, but tired after doing grocery shopping after lunch, and doing a spot of line dancing to cheer myself up after the funeral. Tommy is distraught. He and Kay found each other late in life and only married in June 2017. Tragic loss!
See y’all in the morning.

Terri - I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend, and for Tommy's loss. It's my greatest fear, losing Corey. I've only had 10 years with him, and it's not enough!
He kind of takes it all in stride, though. I was down on my self about my last marriage at the particular moment, and told him once (he's nine years younger, for those who don't know) that apparently my "forever" promises only last about 27 years. He said, "Well, by then, you'll be 77, and I figure you won't be able to outrun me."
One hopes that we'll split the difference and shuffle off this mortal coil about the same time. I just don't want to outlive him. That would in no way seem fair.

Hello one and all.
Heather - You look gorgeous! Happy birthday!
Sharon - It's great you have stuck to the habit of recording all intake. I have found time and again the only way for me to stay on track is to record everything (the good, the bad and the ugly). In the past I would get sloppy once in maintenance, but as long as I kept the journal the weight stayed off. Thank you for the motivation to stick with it.
GingerBeer - Love the train story and pictures. It sounds like you live in a very peaceful place.
GrandMallie - Oh, your dear friends. Sending positive thoughts and prayers.
October goals are moving along. I am doing a 30-day plank challenge. Yesterday was tough. Who would think 2, 30-second planks would make me feel like I was running the last 10 miles of a 90 mile run! LOL. Today, completed 3, 20-second plank sets. It was a little easier even if I kept my eye on the timer! 3 more days to go before a "plank rest" day.
September Goal Recap
Weight Loss Goal 5+ Pounds: September Loss 8.6 pounds
Cardio Goal Minimum of 60 Minutes/Week: Averaged 90 Minutes/Week
Strength Training Goal Minimum of 30 Minutes/Week: Averaged 30 Minutes/Week
Water Minimum Per Day 8, 8 oz Glasses: Missed a few days by 1-2 glasses.
September was the baby step month for me. I went from a total couch potato to walking during commercials and finally getting outside for walks. I am actually looking forward to doubling the exercise goals during October.
I signed up for an annual community yoga gathering scheduled for New Year's day. I am really looking forward to it and being around so many practicing yoga. It should be a peaceful way to start the first day of the new year.
Best to all.

HI all: Sunny day here. Horses are out in the back yard pasture, goats eating their way through the arena. I have gotten some yard work done and eating has gone well.
Heather - Happy, happy birthday. You look fabulous in your finery.
Debbie in VA - I have a friend who has voiced words and phrases very similar to what you have posted. Thank you for being brave enough to do that and thanks also to all the ladies responding. It has helped me to understand where she is coming from and how to be her friend at this time. Hugs.
Rita - So sorry about Chewy.
Allie - Hope things work out with the job.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA5 -
Terri - I see Hurricane Lorenzo is going to hit Ireland. Is your boat in any danger? We get some mighty winds and torrential rains every decade or so here in the Pacific Northwest. Don't know if they are the tail-ends of hurricanes or what blowing up from Hawaii (Pineapple Express) but winds lay down trees like matchsticks and the flooding is devastating. In fact, we are overdue.
Pip - I noticed in that photo you posted of Kirby with Yogi taken 5 years ago, Kirby appeared to be heavier as well. Maybe he was just wearing bulky clothing. You both are an inspiration for sure, keeping up with your workouts and cycling.
Time to pull the Strong Women Stay Young book off the shelf and review it.

My Mom was married to my Dad for 20 years and they divorced. She was married to my step-father for 20 years until his death. She remarried again and told her husband they had 20 years, make them count.

Did Denise austin’s Boot Camp DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Functional Intensity Training DVD.
Terri – I remember a long time ago my FIL saying “now that I’m retired, I don’t know where I found the time to work”. At the time I thought “yea, right”. Now that I’m retired, I know what he meant!
Pete’s birthday was Mon so we gave him a call. He was talking about how a neighbor gave him this some type of blender and he wants to make all organic baby food just like his grandmother did. Denise isn’t the type to make baby food. She doesn’t even use the IP that I gave her! And she’s going to make baby food??? I know they sell organic baby food in jars, she’ll probably wind up buying that.
M – what a transformation!!! Thanks for sharing
I have a calendar and I mark on it what exercise I’m planning to do each day during the week. Sometimes I have to change because something came up and that’s OK.
Lisa – good for you setting a time for exercise. I usually do the same thing. 6:00 to about 7 is “my” time. You’re so right that exercising is addictive. For some reason, my upper thighs and hips are extra tight. Maybe I didn’t stretch them enough yesterday. Anyway, it would have been SO so easy to just baby this but I went and exercised. Yes, I couldn’t do the aerobic parts as high or as quick, but I did SOMETHING. When I sit at the computer and then go to get up, boy do I feel like an old lady. But as I’m moving around, it’s still sore but not nearly as much
M – it’s always been said (and it’s true) that if you want to look 5lbs thinner instantly (I think 5lbs is a bit of an exaggeration, but you do look thinner) you should stand up straight.
I can’t seem to figure out how to copy just one item in a meal, just the whole meal. Is there a way?
They need help at the Green Room so I’ll go there for a bit even tho I’ll be there tomorrow. Got dinner all ready to microwave because as soon as I get back from the Green Room, I want to go in the pool. It’s supposed to be in the 90’s today. Crazy. Ceramics tonight Update on ceramics: they don't have enough of one color that I need so I'm going to buy it. Saturday it's supposed to be in the 70's
Pip – lookin good. Thanks for the before and after pics
Dandl – I’m excited for you
Allie – good for you getting the shingles shot. Interesting….I didn’t have any kind of reaction. Not sleepy, achey, or anything. So sorry for your friend
Look at Heather!!!!

Hi Gals,
Lisa – thanks!
SuziQ – the trick for me was lots of counseling, and tears.
Beth – if parents and the schools knew they would be pissed, but I’m going to hope to lessen the blow.
Rita – hugs!!!!!!!!!!!! The poem is right, you did the hardest and bravest thing.
Debby – hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have value here. You could give everyone a wake up call by leaving a note and coming to visit one of us for a long weekend. I’m in California and have a guest room all ready.
Heather – Happy Happy Birthday!!! You look great!

All who have shared information about themselves Thank you so much!! I will also check out the ones in the May group comments! It always amazes me how many of us share similar stories, including abuse. It is always a blessing to share with other women!
Welcome Newbies!3 -
...and I forgot to wish Heather a very happy birthday! I wish I could look so good on my 70th!!
...and Debby I meant to mention I have gotten counseling off and on over the years. The best has been most recently at the company running our local women's shelter. They specialize in rape and domestic violence and have offered tremendous help to me (my original abuse was during early childhood).4 -
📙October Goals Progress Update
— Wednesday, 2nd Oct.
✖️1. Lose weight.
✔️2. Track every bite in MFP and complete the entry daily.
✔️3. Participate daily in a 30-Day Digital Detox Program.
• Overall Feeling. Proud to have 2 good days for October.
• Lose weight. No. gained about 2 lbs - retained fluid - missed my BP med.
• MFP - completed entry. Yes. Cal.1006, Carbs 15g. Fiber 6g. Water 60oz.
• Digital Detox Day 2 did really good. My task today was to not use a device while in the company of any other person.
• Bright Spot today. Sibling group text. My oldest sister couldn’t figure out how she registered so many steps on her Fitbit today. Then she realized she had spent a good part of the day in her rocking chair. She said she ROCKED THOSE STEPS! One of my brothers told her “you rock!”. 😁
• Today I’m grateful for:
1. Mama remembering to use the Theraworx spray on her leg cramp today.
2. Noticing the emergency flashers were turned on the tractor tonight. The little goats probably jumped up there and managed to switch them on. Got them turned off so the battery wouldn't die overnight. Handyman has been working to repair/replace fencing.
3. Screen time tracker on my iPad.
4. A husband who cooks.
5. Naproxen.

Heather - I hope you have a fantastic Birthday2
-
Thanks for the good wishes, everyone. I'm typing on my phone, so posts are a bit short, but I am following all your updates.
I feel absolutely knackered today. Probably all the excitement of yesterday!!!
There was a bottle of champagne in the cabin with chocolates, all from the Captain. Then my lovely sister in law sent chocolates to the ship as a surprise gift I did not know you could do that.
I was worried the dress wouldn't fit as I have put on weight since I bought it, but I squeezed into it - just!
DH had ordered champagne for the table, so after the special reception for long time cruisers (I felt it was just for me!) we went to the restaurant, but they hadn't got the order. Grrrr! A lot of confusion and delay, but in the end we got the champagne for free!!!!!!!
Then the waiters brought their instruments and sang me Filipino Happy Birthday. With a small cake.
All great fun.
Earlier we had gone in a coach over THE BRIDGE to Sweden. Malmo has a pretty centre and I spoke Swedish.!!!!! We bought a locally made jug - beautiful.
By the way, the dress was dirt cheap from Amazon, as was the tiara. It was just for fun. The only time I will wear it again is perhaps for Pride, when I can compete with the drag queens.
Today we are in Aalborg with a mediaeval centre. I am taking it easy.
Much love to you all, Heather UK XXXXXX9 -
