12/29 - 174.8
12/30 - 177.6 Lots of cooking and eating with the family for a late Christmas. Entree was ham so retaining lots of water. Looking for a 1-2 lb loss tomorrow if I can stay out of the leftovers and candy still in the house.
12/31 - 176.8 Water weight is leaving but I was unsuccessful in staying out of the leftovers. I will keep trying.
1/1 - 177.2
1/2 - 178.8 I will not give up! Yesterday at home all day with leftovers from Christmas and New Year's celebration was too much.
1/3 - 177.2
1/4 - 175.0 Eating waaaay under calorie limit and bathroom trip yesterday add up to this impressive loss. I don't usually do well on the weekend but I'm feeling very motivated today. I've made a to-do list and eating junk is not on it.
1/5 - 174.2 Good day yesterday. The Christmas Tree is down and decorations put away. A lot of other household chores done. Sunny and 50 here today so hiking may be this afternoon's activity.

@xcc670 @GrandmaJackie will post the start of the new round in a couple of days - it will start on 1/8. We love having people join us but I fear we loose a few because they miss the link.4

12/29 - 239.2 Wow this thread has exploded in the last day or two! I need to catch up! Weight fluxed up for no apparent reason, but a random pound back and forth is not unusual for me.
12/30 - 238.4 Okay at least it is headed back in the right direction. Portion control yesterday, but the weather was too nasty to consider a walk. Today looks like more of the same (thunderstorms, tornado watches), so no lunchtime walk in a suit, but at least I can take a leisurely few laps inside my office building (it has a perimeter hallway.) The rest of the Christmas cookies and fudge and candy went into the freezer last night, and some pastries and mincemeat pies are headed to the office to get them out of my hands.
12/31 - 238.8 Going sideways weight wise. Today's lunch is mostly fruits and veg, so that might help. But there is a NYE party tonight..... ugh. I just know it'll be fried things and sweet things and adult beverage things. My inner fat boy is still firmly in control -- I have to lock him up!
01/01 - 239.0 This is my last day of excuses. NYE party last night. Ate small amounts (for me) of nothing but crappy food, but did have two large cocktails. Today is a new start. Happy New Year, all!
01/02 - 238.2 Aaaand we continue our game of pinball! Back down again. Less food consumed yesterday, I just wasn't hungry. But also less activity than normal, so who knows. I will get a walk in today, somehow.
01/03 - DNW - stomach bug
01/04 - DNW - stomach bug
01/05 - 239.2 Okay, someone needs to explain to me how I can eat nothing but toast and coca cola for two days (plus some applesauce last night) and end up putting on weight???? Starting to feel human again (got to church this morning so clearly I am not an invalid) but no appetite for anything -- although I am knocking the heck out of a pot of coffee.

I am using an eating plan designed by Dr. Ludwig. His book is called "Always Hungry". I just noticed on this board that it is similar to Primal Blueprint Plant.
I eat a high fiber carb with each meal. That translates to either beans or fruit. I try to limit fruit to 1 serving a day. I eat any/all non-starch vegetables. The biggest change for me was getting away from the Low Fat way of eating (WOE).
For some reason that I don't understand, I am 63 years old and haven't figured out how to eat to lose weight, even though I have always been what I consider a careful/healthy eater. This WOE seems like a WOE that I can adjust to since the biggest change for me is adding fat.

Round 100
Please join us! Starting on 12/29 JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS, we will begin Round 100
Anyone can join us at anytime during the round.
Join us! If we stay mindful we can do this, you can do this.
Welcome back past members, welcome new members, let's keep each other accountable for another 10 days!
Here is what you do: Post your daily weight and add little comments along the way of how your day went. Post everyday to let us know how you're doing! Copy and paste the days in your response--tell us how much you lost and other non scale victories (NSV) you'd like to share.
FOR NEWBIES - I find it easiest to copy the dates to a document or note in my device and edit it each morning. Then copy and paste to the message board. MFP will return you to the spot on the board where you left off on your previous visit which is nice to know if you like to scan all of the posts.

@eyesopennow Mike, right? Toast and cola (regular not diet?) That’s a lot of carbs and I know in my case, carbs make me retain water. Just a suggestion.3

My 2020 goal is to continue to learn how to eat and lose wieght. My top weight was 203 pounds and I am now at 183. It has been a challenge and I don't feel I have a handle on the losing weight process.
I am committed to tracking as honestly as I can on MFP. I follow a way of eating (WOE) promoted by Dr. Ludwig. His method involves low/no sugar or other "white" foods. This WOE encouraged me to add more protein and fat to my diet. I eat either fruit or beans at each meal as a carbohydrate balance. Of course, all natural foods, no processed. I am only 5'2" ft tall and am 63 years old and that gives me a challenge.
I have a gym membership and I am working on a fitness program that includes cardio, weights, and swimming. I also walk three miles a day. I am retired so this is not a problem.

01/05 186 after breakfast with clothes. Yesterday I didn't exercise because I had a medical infusion and needed to rest. I'm feeling ready to tackle this.
01/06 185 home scale. This was higher than i expected. I did eat 1600 calories yesterday. The biggest thing is that I had eggs with chorizo along with my usual coffee/collagen/half&half/fruit breakfast. I changed my MFP goal to lose 1/2 pound per week and it gave me a total of 1435 cal/d with 1200 cal/wk of exercise. This may be more realistic because I do not do well with hunger. I'm also going to order a new home scale that measures to the tenths. I love the 10 day challenge.

@xcc670 Thank you for the explanation. I eat neither beans nor fruit with the exception of a few occasional berries. I’m insulin resistant and those things give me a voracious appetite! I get the whole not figuring out how to lose weight and I’ll be 70 next month. I went on a severely restricted doctor’s diet, probably 25 years ago, which was pretty much keto. Lost weight, got rid of a systemic yeast infection and then stopped following it. I’m so glad I learned of keto/LCHF 2.5 years ago. It works for me and I find it easy to stick to when traveling, etc.8

Day/Weight/Comment
12/29: 173.9 lbs, highest weight ever today. I've gained 30+ pounds in a little over 3 months. I've not been able to work out due to a running injury, which has sent me spirally out of control weigh wise. Time to be accountable again and log and weigh daily to get this under control. I know what to do and how to be successful in losing weight, just have to start. I don't expect a loss for tomorrow but commit to achieving a loss going forward in the days to come. Starting over is hard, but I have done this before, so I know I can do it again. Looking forward to the next 10 days.
12/30: 173.3 Goals for this round are...pre-log daily meals/calories, IF 16/8, little to no alcohol consumption, and get my exercise back on track with yoga and tentatively see if my foot is ready to ease back into running.
12/31: 172.6 Yesterday was partially successfully with logging and eating IF 16/8 but not the best choices with food and went over on calories by having a couple of glasses of wine. Hoping today to get on my treadmill (hate running indoors but it is a snowy icy mess outside) and see how my foot feels. I have a NYE get-together to go to tonight but am thinking I will skip it, as I don't need the temptations of party food/drinks derailing the little progress I have made this week.
01/01: 171.3 Had a very nice NYE, low key with my family and even enjoyed a little cheese & crackers+ Champagne and still had a loss on the scale this morning. Just sticking to 1 meal today as we went out for brunch and I feel so full even though I made smart choices. I've decided to wait 2 more weeks to see how returning to running feels and I got in a good body strength workout instead.
01/02: 172 Slight blip up from yesterday, no real reason for it...could be because yesterday I slept in and weighed later than normal. I'm doing well with IF 16/8, drinking water, limiting alcohol, not eating outside of meals or overeating, & logging but need to be better with my food choices and staying within my allotted calories. Today I have a double workout planned with a total body barre video + the 1st day of the 30 day YWA, HOME practice, looking forward to getting back into daily yoga.
01/03: 170.4 Happy to see this loss on the scale today! Yesterday was all around good, meeting all my daily goals + I meal planned for the next week and shopped for everything. I think an important thing for me, is to be excited for the dinners I am making and not feeling "deprived" there. I have found I am much more in control of the choices I make during the day (when I tend to go off the rails), when I know that I have a great dinner to look forward to. I got in another good workout yesterday too but feeling super sore and then didn't sleep well last night and woke up with a major crick in my neck, hopping today's yoga helps sort these aches out.
01/04: 169.5 Yay! Out of the 170s, and determined to never be there again!!! Food wise everything was on track yesterday + plenty of water and no alcohol. I decided to make it a rest day and skip yoga as I had a lot of muscle aches from returning to working out. Was a good decision, feeling a lot looser today and ready to tackle another tough workout. It's dreary and raining with some icy sleet coming so plan to stay indoors most of the weekend and get all the Christmas decorations taken down and put away. Have a great weekend everyone!
01/05: 168.9 Slept in this morning and weighed late, so this might not be an accurate number, so there might be a slight blip up on the scale tomorrow & I'm ok with that. Spent the morning getting a Beef Bourguignon prepped and into the slow cooker for dinner tonight and plan to spend the rest of the day organizing kitchen cabinets/food pantry, removing more Christmas clutter and getting in a solid workout. I'm about a week into returning to eating IF 16/8 and feel a positive noticeable change in my hunger levels as everything is evening out.

12/29 122.5 No explanation for this bump unless it was the small bit of baked white potato at lunch yesterday or the little bit of dark chocolate (no sugar) from the night before. May not have had enough water. Low calorie, great macro day so not worried. Woke up at 3:30-the cat was crowding me off the bed.
12/30 122.5 Car woke me at 5, I was super tired so put him in his crate and went back to sleep. (He loves his crate and frequently goes in there to nap) Woke when the alarm went off at 7, got dressed and went to have labs drawn. You all know I’m really NOT a morning person. Going to a friend’s house to sew today so haven’t read all posts but I’m at the top of page 4.
12/31 122.0 I just ate a hearty breakfast - mostly. I’m not a breakfast person but hadn’t eaten since lunch yesterday and was getting the shakes. I had a fried egg with 2 extra yolks and a piece of leftover steak AND a Thomas’ English muffin. DH bought those to have the 2 days we were on the pre-cruise stay-cation. There was one left so I threw it in my bag and kept it refrigerated on the cruise and brought it back home. I grew up eating those and it had been calling to me since we got home 9 days ago. Now it’s gone. My carbs are going to be through the roof but it’s okay. This too shall pass. Looking forward to thee beginning of the new decade A YEAR FROM NOW.
01/01 122.0 Today is round 2 of (only one pan) sticky buns, this one for our cruising pals. I may have to do a round 3 after our neighbor returns from Alaska.
01/02 121.5 I ate no sticky buns yesterday and as a consequence of that, fasted until after 5pm.
01/03 120.5 I again got kicked out and couldn’t get back to the message boards.ARRRGH! My “progress” showed up but my day count was 0. I get the following screen when I try to go to “community.” Tried again and it tells me my session has timed out! Of course I never actually got in but. . .
01/04. 121.0 Today is the 49th birthday of our first born and she and her SO are taking their Westie to cross the rainbow bridge. I’m crying and sure they are too. Please say a prayer for mbabydoll and Andy.

That being said, my sickness feels like a bit of a reset, one that got me back into some good habits. I'm going to try to take advantage of the "opportunity" I've been "given" (nice way to phrase my horrible illness).
12/30: 218.8 (+1.6)/18.4 (+0.2). As always, I spoke too soon. I need to remember that the moment I'm feeling too good about my progress/work habits is the moment that I let myself slide a little. I could have said no last night, but after my reasonable dinner I had some leftover Caesar salad (wife went out to dinner) and a Cinnabon. There's plenty of blame to go around, but I am the only person that is responsible for me. I regretted both choices as they were happening, but not enough to make me stop/slow down. I'm going to think of this as a "blip," and I'm going to try to move on from it.
12/31: 218.6 (-0.2)/18.3 (-0.1). I was not hungry all day, and I barely ate anything. I had my wife's leftovers for dinner, but for some reason she felt it necessary to make a WHOLE OTHER MEAL that she expected me to partake in (she asked me to eat her leftovers). It was relatively healthy, at least, but I'm going to have to have a little talk with her about MY body and MY right to put (or not put) whatever I want into it... no matter what the circumstances are. I still have not been to the gym since I got really sick, and I probably won't get there until Friday.
1/1: 217.4 (-0.8)/18.2 (-0.1).
1/2: 216.6 (-0.8)/18.1 (-0.1). For those of you who don't know, I'm a psychologist, which doesn't make me any better at any of this than any of you! One thing that's important for me, especially when it comes to health/weight loss, is the idea of "setting my intention(s)." It's a bit like doing the whole New Year's resolution thing, but I like to try to carefully think through the things I need to do in order to reach my goal(s). This includes thinking about what's worked for me in the past (like coming to MFP and JGMTD), but it also includes really thinking about the different things that can potentially derail me. I'm not going to bore you with details, but I know that I have a tendency to relax a bit too much when I start to feel successful here; the minute I talk about how well things are going or how "easy" this is, chances are high that I'm going to slip up a bit. I try to remember to temper the extreme feelings I have (good and bad) because that works for me, and it can be a disaster when I don't do it. I'm going to recommit to the gym 3x/wk (starting tomorrow), knowing that it may take some time to get back where I was a month ago. I'm also going to work on communicating more effectively with my wife; I love her very much, but sometimes that message seems to get lost when we have discussions/arguments. Sorry for being a bit "all over the place." Happy New Year to you all!
1/3: 218.0 (+1.4)/18.3 (+0.2). Totally binged last night after dinner. I'm actually almost fasting today, just because I know how much I over-ate. The funny thing is that, as much as I know I binged, I also know that I ate WAY less in total (dinner plus the binge) than I would have 95% of the time before I was here. It turns out I'll be going to the gym tomorrow morning instead of tonight. I can't wait to get back to the gym!
1/4: 217.6 (-0.4)/18.2 (-0.1).
1/5: 217.0 (-0.6)/18.2 (0.0). I totally had a splurge for dinner, but I controlled myself portion-wise. I'm finally headed to the gym this morning. I still have a bit of a cough/PND, but I'm feeling much better. I'll let you know how it goes.

1/1: 132.8 - happy new year!
1/2: 132.6 - still on task and feeling motivated. Went to the gym this morning and added some more exercises. Back and biceps today. Thinking about adding a couple more days of weight lifting, I'm really liking it.
1/3: 132.2 - woot! Nice to see the hard work paying off on the scale. 45 minutes strength training yesterday, no pickle, still resting my arm. Planning to pickle tomorrow. I think my results are finally showing physically, I'm liking how my clothes are fitting.
1/4: 132.2 - pretty happy to still be seeing this number. We all get the ups and downs and I've been going just down, am expecting the back up to happen any day now. Wouldn't mind if this was my new "high number". Played 3 hours of pickleball in the sun today and loved it. Went for a 20 minute run yesterday, forced myself to do it. I made a commitment to do at least 20 minutes of exercise every day in January.
1/5: 132.4 - ate out last night and although I took half home, pretty sure it was full of salt. Tis ok, just a little blip. Resting today, I'm really sore from either the unexpected run or the 3 hours of pickle yesterday. Probably a little of both. Will clean around the house to get my 20 minutes of activity in.

@mthomas0228 I’ve been watching your posts and clapping bravas. I know you work out and do IF. What else, if anything, are you doing? I lost very quickly like you a year ago on a very restricted elimination diet (from a weight I was already happy with), but don’t really want to go quite that extreme again. (I think the restriction ultimately prompted my months-long splurge and horrifying gain.) Anyway, your loss is inspiring! Thnx.4

1/01 1day: goal to lose 3 lb in 10 days, walk 10,000 steps. Eat low carb.
182 lb. 7,064 steps. Under 1200 calories and under 20 net carbs.

1/03 Doing Keto Diet but I’m not in Ketosis. Hope to get there soon. 182 lb. 5588 steps. 942 calories and 14 Carbs.
1/04 182 lb ate 824 calories 14 Carbs and walked 3286 steps. Still not in Ketosis but my cravings are low so I know that part of Keto is working. Hopefully tomorrow I will start loosing some weight.
1/05 178lb. Ate 783 calories 15 Carbs. 2768 steps Need to walk more. Must have lost a lot of water weight. Still not in Ketosis but I know I’m on the right track. I’m measuring and weighing all my food to make sure I’m using the correct counts. I’m not eating much cheese I think that slows my progress down 🤔10 -

01/02 – 174.0 – Back from a lovely few days with my kids and grandkids. I didn’t expect a drop over the holidays, but I’ve been fighting a nasty cold that’s suppressed my appetite, so I guess I shouldn’t really be surprised. Took a rest day and worked on staying hydrated.
01/03 – 172.0 – Slept in and woke up feeling a little dehydrated, so I’m sure this is a false low. Still congested, but otherwise feeling much better, so I got some chores done. Ate most of my calories today, but had too much salt. I’m sure it will take a few days of normal health and good habits to get my electrolytes back in balance.
01/04 – 173.0 – Easy day, although I managed to get a few things done before heading out for burgers and a movie with my husband. Skipped the fries, but candy at the movie put me over my calorie limit. Still managed a small deficit, but I guess my appetite’s back 😉
01/05 – 173.0 – Still a good bit down from where I started the round and a more realistic number than Friday’s low. I met my calorie goal today and even got out for a bit of a walk despite the wind. Now that my cold is largely behind me, I’m looking to get a lot done in the coming week.

12/29 - 195 womp womp, I got down to 189 by Thanksgiving, but then December just went straight to hell. I started going up without any diet changes to 192, and I felt bad about it and powerless so I decided to just give myself a diet vacation until the end of Christmas and now I'm up to 195. Not tooo mad about that because all the junk I ate for the past two weeks only brought me up 3 pounds, but still I'm feeling like it's time to get back on the wagon and stay there
12/30 - 194.2 hooray, going back down. Recommitted to keto and so far so good. I got a lot of exercise in this morning and did pretty well for my diet, but had more carbs than I should have at lunch. I'll try to do better tomorrow
12/31 - 194.2 no change! I'll take that as a win since I felt super bloated this morning and was expecting an increase. Stuck well to my diet and got lots of work done today. Didn't do any exercise but I plan on dancing a lot tonight, so will count that as my exercise. Will try my best not to indulge in any cheat foods and to limit myself to 2 drinks at NYE celebrations tonight. I'd like to start the new year and new decade out on a high note.
01/01 - 192.6! YAY! Down past my goal for the challenge so proud of myself for stinking to my diet goals even while partying last night. I had 2 glasses of wine and a bunless burger with salad. Still had a great time dancing the night away. Stuck to my diet pretty well today but did not resist my fiances' donuts and had about a quarter of one at least I stopped at a quarter.
01/02 - 191.6! I hope I can maintain this loss did much better at sticking to my diet today. First day back at work, struggled to focus due to some personal issues on my mind. will try to work harder at being focused tomorrow
01/03 - 191! Coming down which is great Starting to get a pretty sore throat, hoping this doesn't knock me out with a bad cold. Taking a ton of Vitamin C and trying to stick to my goals. Did a lot of exercise today
01/04 - 190.6! Throat is super sore now, definitely sick but psyched to see these losses! Hoping to maintain this through the end of the challenge
01/05 - 190.6! Still sick, hard to get anything done today, but I did stick to my diet goals and continued taking lots of Vitamin C. I have a ton of work to do this week, so hoping that keeping the weekend very light means I won't miss out on too much productivity this week
