Happy Hump Day! 🐪 I have decided today will be a worry-free day! I am going to spend my afternoon down in my happy space, sewing/quilting and watching sappy Hallmark movies. DH is stopping on the way home to pick up primer and paint for the basement, so I hope to start that later today and maybe get that done by the weekend. Then we are going to order some nice plush carpeting to put down there. If all goes well, I'll have a nice, bright, happy space that will be warm and comfortable for winter. I'm pretty excited. I've been asking for the downstairs to be remodeled or fixed up a bit since we moved here. It will make it much nicer to spend time in... 🤩🥰

So looks like I was right about the commotion, wrong about the day lol!

School run today, ash rings me, police have shown up. Looking for him again.
Neighbours started hassling us again. Shouting all sorts on the front and blatantly saying they know its us who have been reporting him to the police about his whereabouts. Even though the police said the report came from a shop and another neighbour a few days before.
But they don't believe it still. But hey, you can't fix stupid 🤷‍♀️

Were not bothered anymore, were gonna laugh it off because the whole thing is like a running joke! :)

These are the healthy habits I would like to do in 2020:
      1. Lose 15 pounds to get to my ultimate goal of 165, and then learn how to maintain it.
      2. To be better with planning my meals each week
      3. to get up in the morning, and have a rough idea of what I plan to eat the rest of the day.
      4. To stop mindless eating. To learn how to eat to live, not live to eat.
      5. To make drinking water a regular habit.. and drink 8+ glasses of water a day

      2020
      Jan 3: 185.4
      Feb 1: 178
      March: 183.6

      July: 177
      August: 185
      Sept: 187
      September 1, 2020
Weight today was 187.6! OK ... self... get back on track! I need to lose those 10 pounds fast!! I was doing so good during this pandemic until the last month, and its maddening how quickly the weight can crept up!
      9/3: 184.4
      9/5: 184.0
      9/5: 183 -- getting there!
9/8: 187.5 00 too many potato chips over the weekend
      9/9: 186.2

Personal challenge for myself. LOG at least ONE meal each day.
      Completed: 2/30

      JFT, Wed
      1. log ALL food :)
      2. concentrate on water :)
      3. mindful eating :)
      4. 4+ mile walk :)
      5. help hubby :)
      6. organize one file cabinet :/ -- but working on business bookkeeping instead
      7. work on this quilt!! I am almost finished! :/

Today hubby agreed that we will try letting our daughter in the patio room!! He is not comfortable with that decision.. but he says he wants to make me and our daughter happy, and said "I hope we are not making a mistake". So I will do everything I can to keep everything clean, and keep our distance, while at least keeping somewhat away from the bugs, and hope that no one gets sick.
But our daughter worked today, and so tonite she did not come out. But she called .. and said she had a good day, so that makes me happy. She said her boss gave her a bonus, and told her what a good job she was doing, so I think that positive feedback did more for my daughter than anything.
So tonite I am going to keep busy .. have to stop the nitetime snacking habit!

      JFT, Thurs
      1. log all food
      2. concentrate on water
      3. work on pc boards
      4. work on business bookkeeping .. I am so far behind!
      5. go for 5+ mile walk
      6. clean house
      7. work on quilt!

Yesterday was much better. It started badly, I ended up getting a bit upset in the morning, a few things getting on top of me. But, at lunchtime I stopped work and headed off into London to meet up with my colleagues - we had a "team meet up" arranged for team bonding/ morale purposes. (Given none of us have seen each other in person in six months).

I was a bit nervous about it beforehand, having not taken the train into London in six months, but the journey was ok - not too busy - and it was really nice to see my colleagues. It was weird though, we were joking that it was odd to see everyone in 3D but actually it really did feel weird to see them as real people not just flag tiles on a screen! We hung out for three hours, not really talking about serious stuff but just enjoying interacting with humans and having a bit of a laugh. It felt like a little slice of normality and it was lovely.

Then afterwards I took the opportunity to meet up with one of my best friends who I also haven't seen in 3D in six months. That was lovely, particularly as I found out that she's pregnant! :) It was funny really because she's managed to get to eight weeks without people realising. In the past, we've noticed pretty much immediately when anyone has got pregnant because they stop drinking and everyone notices. But with us not actually meeting up in person, nobody has noticed so she's got a bit further along... Obviously she's still in her first trimester so I'm going to keep my mouth shut and not tell anyone else for now. I'm super happy for her though because she really wants kids and had been trying for a while and was getting a little frustrated. I hope it all goes well from here.

So, it was a super nice day in the end and I feel in a much better mood this morning. I am not sure how long it will last, and I really hope it is not another six months before I see any of these people again... But for now I am going to savour the current feeling I have of a nice day out and try to be optimistic about things.

      So, yesterday's goals:
      :

      - Log everything I eat :)
      - Be in the green :| Went c. 170 over, thought I had calories left for a second cider in the pub but apparently not
      - Walk 4+ miles for Miles for Refugees :)

      And today's goals:

      - Log everything I eat
      - Be in the green
      - Walk 4 miles for Miles for Refugees
      - Read emails at intervals only
      - Speak french with boyfriend
      - Laundry/ make bed
      - Next week's food plan
      - Do some holiday planning
      - Have a nice relaxing and restful evening!

Casey had her first day back at nursery yesterday! And then they rang and said they recorded a temperature and has to stay home for two weeks. THEN I had to ring the school and tell them what the nursery said so everyone's back at home again. But anyway, theyre all coughing and spluttering so one look at them.and the school would of sent them home instantly.

I need to go to a testing site, apparently there's no home testing kits available but I doubt I'll have the petrol to get there! Sooo.. yeah? Ill have to figure that one out today.

@mytime6630 - so nice that your daughter can visit in the porch!

      Scale goals
      End of 2017: 174.6
      End of 2018: 189.2
      End of 2019: 196.4
      End of January: 194.6
      End of February: 196.2
      End of March: 193.8
      End of April: 192.6
      End of May: 191.8
      End of June: 192.2
      End of July: 188.6
      End of August:
      Today: 190.0

      Ongoing plans/ideas behind the cut
      1. Purchases: Look for an "ugly Christmas sweater" and a long-haired doll at thrift stores. Practice French braiding. Go to used bookstore and look for On Writing (Stephen King), Dying for a Paycheck (Robin Hardman), The Prince (tr. Tim Parks, Russell Price, or Robert Adams), The Secret Adversary (Christie).
      2. E2: What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Create vocabulary lists for each unit that come from the texts used: Animal Farm, Julius Caesar, Wes Moore, I Am Malala. Find a way to incorporate changing words from one part of speech to another. Students need to know how to review multiple sources and synthesize information in order to draw a conclusion. Need practice with the difference between transitions and overlapping (at end of paragraph - "another issue is Y" vs "there are other issues besides X"). Quit using "in conclusion" and "I believe" and other writing-about-my-writing phrases. Confusion between direct/indirect objects and prepositional phrases. Use the UDHR and the Declaration of Independence to study paraphrasing; use that to front-load Machiavelli and how to deal with challenging texts. Confusion between everyday / every day and similar constructions.
      3. E1: Need practice with quoting & paraphrasing sources, identifying claims that would need support, use of last names for reference, and capitalization practice (common/proper nouns, titles). Difficulty using possessive nouns in their own writing. Honors: practice subject/object pronouns (my friend and I / my friend and me). Poetry: Revise "Songs are Poetry" handouts.
      4. Curriculum Development: Writing mini-unit. Review scholarly research on 5PE. (I think I can have this as an intro to the research unit so that they also get exposure to how quotes are integrated and cited.) Parallel structure; use of emotional language, specific detail. Use "Write About a Pebble" lesson from Atwell. How long should each unit take? Do research on characteristics: curiosity, persistence, resilience, creativity, responsibility, optimism, courage, integrity, authenticity, leadership, self-awareness, humility, compassion - others? Include grammarly check on essays! Review assessments. What is the purpose for each unit? What should the controlling ideas be in a study of world literature? Review world lit options. Yesterday’s meeting with the music director went really well. I thought he was the new director, but found out he’s only filling in until the church hires someone permanently. He is so talented on the piano and we worked really well together. I’m looking forward to the wedding this afternoon. 🎶💕

      JFT THURSDAY:
      - log all food
      - Chores
      - Library appointment
      - Quick grocery run
      - Meal prep
      - Sing for wedding

@mytime6630 - so nice that your daughter can visit in the porch!

@Bex953172 - I’m so worried about that same scenario when my kids get back to school. I really don’t want a Covid test every time they have a runny nose! Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Our school is just going off if they have a temperature, or a new cough.
They're looking for further information is theres any other ways to tell between a cold or corona but I doubt there will be a way to distinguish between the two without being sure.

My concern now is that they've asked for a test from Casey. But she's 2. I dont want her to have one, shoving cotton buds down her throat and up her nose, she's not gonna like that one bit. But seeing as ive come down with sore throat, cough etc immediately after her, im hoping I can take the test maybe?
Because surely if one of us have it then we all have it? And we ALL have some.sort of cold related illness right now

@mytime6630 - I think that your porch is a nice compromise for you and your daughter, now you both just need to stay healthy. Is it a place you can use year round?

@bookmeister86 - That sounds like a wonderful day for you. It must be so nice seeing everyone. I haven't been isolated like a lot of others because I've still worked all the way through. When we opened up to cohorts my daughter and Grands started to come visit so that was nice.

@Bex953172 - Oh Bex! I hope its just a regular flu for all of you and you all get well soon.

@littleblackskirt - I use the free version and haven't had any issues with logging food. Are you using the app on your phone or on a computer? If you're using the app maybe try uninstalling and installing again.

@teigansdad - Your weakness with candy is my weakness with chips and Coke. It's such a shame that I started eating it again, I had quit for almost 2 years.

@clicketykeys - Are you teaching online or in class this year?

@pridesabtch - I'm sorry your Mom is showing some symptoms of dementia. After going through this with my Mom I have to say you need to make sure she has a POA in place very early. My Brother was my Mom's as he lived closer. He had her add him to the bank account so that he could monitor things online. After a few months that wasn't enough, he took her debit card away from her because she was just wasting money and not paying bills. Finally he ended up having to withdraw her "extra" money and he would dole it out to her. Within about a year and a half he was managing everything. She went downhill very fast from the first signs to going into the nursing home. I'm sorry you'll have this to deal with, are you an only child?

Well I ordered birthday presents for my Grandson last night, I ordered a boxed set of books and a Lego set. I struggled finding something for him this year as he is so into video games that's all he wants and I don't like buying video games. We are celebrating Saturday. Our birthdays are Sunday, I hope I can see him for a minute at least on Sunday as well.

      Have a great day everyone

Thank you. Yes, I am an only child. I already have POA. I am on one of her bank accounts (savings which I think she emptied when she bought her car), but I guess I need to get put on her everyday account. Finances are very upsetting to her. Luckily, I have been able to give her what she needs for the past few months, and I've set up a monthly payment from her security funds that should bridge the gap. Her financial advisor has been very helpful. They have called me when she went in last month crying, and I got things straightened out. Then I went yesterday and we developed a plan going forward.

Hopefully, it was just a matter of things slipping through the cracks during Covid. There was a delay in disbursement of a few payments that got her behind. She is very diligent about keeping her records and knowing what she has, but she doesn't seem to be able to plan anymore. She forgets that her SS Check doesn't come until the 3rd Wednesday of the month and that screws her up. In her mind it is supposed to come at the beginning of the month so she thinks she has more money than she really does. She lives alone, and doesn't really talk to me much. She has always gotten angry with me easily and given me the silent treatment. It sucks, and is hard to judge her state, but I'm all she has and I do my best. She does talk to my aunt who keeps me in the loop. It's very sad to watch her decline.

@Snowflake1968 - BOTH! AT THE SAME TIME! It's incredibly frustrating and stressful. I have students who are logged in to Google Meet while I have others physically in the room with me. There are questions from every direction. I just had a remote student say "my program ain't working." *facepalm* Like I'm supposed to just read your mind and know what the problem is when you provide zero details. UGHHH.

@pridesabtch - It's so hard to watch them decline like that. My Mother's issues came to light when she called me 4 days after she had received her cheques asking if she could borrow money from me. She had spent about 500 that couldn't be accounted for at all. She called me because she knew my brother would be upset with her. I, of course, had to call my brother. At least your Aunt is keeping you in the loop, it would be awful if that wasn't happening.

@clicketykeys - I cannot imagine! My Grandson (Grade 4) is doing online this quarter. My daughter is trying to keep my Granddaughter (4 Years) occupied so is doing some preschool things with her. On Tuesday, the first day, my daughter posted and said give teachers all the money, I can't imagine doing this as a job. She said that even the noise of Jonah's online classes was enough to get her to drink. Here though they have different teachers for online vs in class.

Surprised at vet's office, only one person allowed in with pet, so hubby sat in vehicle while I went in. Found out office had just gone 30 days with NO person allowed in with pet. Process keeps changing in this environment, I know this, flexibility is key. No matter where, hubby and I always have our masks, and sanitize hands as often as
we can. But I long not to.

Yesterday we had a record low "high" temp of 51F (used to be 55, from 1917). Today not as cold but house is so chilly & mid-afternoon I got sick of my freezing hands and feet so turned on the furnace to knock chill out of air. Much better now. Cat and dog happy too.

        2020 Goals:
        1) Get weight below 160# (last time was 4/20/19)
        2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
        3) Post weekly weigh-in on JFT for accountability
        4) Take measurements & log on MFP monthly (I stopped as weight plateaued & went up) = 2.1.20 / 2.29.20 / 4.1.20 (forgot 3.31.20) / 5.1.20 (forgot 4.30.20) / 6.3.20 (forgot at ME again)
        5) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x) ~ mostly walking but include weights/circuit & other x-training
        6) Participate in race events ~ have planned 7 5Ks and 2 10Ks at minimum = Frenzy on the Fox 5K 49:36 ave. pace 15:29 / Seroogy's Valentine 5K 46:26.7 ave. pace 14:47 / Badger State Brewing 10K virtual race w/ dog on 4/2/20 1:44:16 ave. pace 16:33 / Prevention virtual 5K Fun & Fit Team on 5/2/20 I walked 3.48 mi w/ dog in 1:01:10 ave. pace 17:33 / RonaRunOff 5/16/20 virtual walk 5.08 miles with dog in 1:23:15 ave. pace 16:23 / 100 Miles Challenge fundraiser (per fitness tracker) & completed 5/18/20 / Bellin Run 10K virtual race w/ dog on 6/6/20 1:41:03 ave. pace 16:14 dog definitely slows my "race pace" / Hope Isn't Canceled virtual 10K w/ dog 8/29/20 1:43:10 ave. pace 16:36

        JFT, Thurs
        1. log all food :)
        2. concentrate on water :)
        3. work on pc boards :/ - cleaned house instead
        4. work on business bookkeeping .. I am so far behind!
        5. go for 5+ mile walk :/ - just couldn't get it done today. But walked 2 miles.
        6. clean house :)
        7. work on quilt! -- well, unless I work on it tonite, but I probably won't. May work on business bookeeping instead.

Tonite is a sad nite. We have friends who are our neighbors going on 42 years. The husband just turned 80 .. he was the one I sewed a pillow for. He has parkinsons, and 3 weeks ago, started to decline very fast. He was needing a walker, but he was able to stay home, and his wife was able to care for him. She had someone coming in to bath him, and recently, occupational and physical therapist.

He ended up in the hospital 3 weeks ago, and today, they had to put him in a rehab place. They hope they can get his strength up so he can come back home, but I just cannot see that happening. His wife texted me tonite... she cannot even go to see her husband of 55 years! She said she can only have prearranged visit, but her husband is on one side of the fence, and she on another. All because of Covid. She is aching ... and it just made me cry. I just cannot imagine being in that position.

And that got me really thinking about my husband. Even with our daughter in the patio room, he is scared. So ... now I am scared also. His immune system is low because of the cancer treatments. I just cannot imagine if he got covid and I could not be with him. Our daughter has her own apartment... so I called her tonite, and told her we would be back to the outside patio. I did have them spray the entire yard today, so I hope that will help, and also hope if temps get cooler that will help. But now I am agreeing with my husband .. until they come out with a quick test, it is just not worth risking it.

I know my daughter has been having nightmares again ... and I feel helpless. I told her she really needs to tell her doctor about the nightmares. But even her being out here until late at nite, like she was last nite.. at some point she still has to go back to her empty apartment. I am praying that maybe she can develop some hobby, or figure out a way to help herself more. I have spent so much on crafty stuff, but she has to want it bad enough to do it. So I have to be this way. We would not be any good to her if one or both of us got this virus.

So I am sad in many ways.I hate this virus ... I hate what it has done to the entire world. And I pray it ends very soon. I miss our son and grandkids. But, I have my husband, and the important thing is for the 2 of us to stay safe, and make it through these awful times.

So sorry for the depressing post. Sometimes it is hard to look ahead and not get scared. so tonite... I will work on business taxes, and watch some Netflix tv shows... oh ..and drink water!

@Bex --- I hope and pray that you are all safe as well. It has got to be so hard sending little ones to daycare and schools... worrying about them as well.

Oh Joan, I wanted to reply to you about this but unfortunately I never got the time! I was going to say right now you're stuck in the middle of both of them. They both have opposite needs and you're like me, you want to help both of them!

But I was going to say, with all these treatments your husband has, he is scared. Definitely. In his mind he's probably thinking if he catches Covid now then he's probably a goner! And he's probably worrying about the stress it would cause you. I would be terrified.
Ashs mum is the same, we didnt see her for weeks, she didn't want the kids around and to us it was a bit hurtful because we were struggling with our mental health and the kids and just couldn't get that break from anyone.
But we realised with her she was just scared of getting ill and her treatments getting put off. Her tests had already been put off through it all and so we've only just found out whats wrong. Waiting on last biopsy results atm.

I hate that now that we are potential coviders I have to keep saying to ash "no we can't go your mums remember" and he just wants to see his mum.

Realistically, I think with what you said the other day about excessively cleaning the indoor patio, I honestly think that would be sufficient. But is it worth the anxiety for your husband on top of everything?

I know you've been made to feel like its a choice between your husband and daughter. It doesn't have to be a choice, look after them both as best as you can, but I think healthwise you're husband is at more risk due to his low immune system, so he should take that slight priority.

I hope your daughter understands, it must be hard for her too, its all a big change, nothing is the same.

For me its hard because of the kids.
I know its affecting them and then we as parents got ourselves in a situation (next door) that has affected our kids and we feel terrible for that. I know me and Ash are struggling but we know how to fix that ourselves but its harder for us to know how the kids really feel. But we can see it in them. Its been honestly awful for my kids. I didnt want them back in school so desperately for my benefit, but for theirs. And now they're home poorly again with all the rubbish going on next door, cajt even play outside.

(Were hoping thats stopping. He got arrested in the next town, and released again, and they told them that is was NOT us.) So hopefully that's done with.

But Joan, from all your previous posts I can see that you are putting everyone first, youre doing the absolute best you can, and its not going to be the way you want it but you're making it work, I know it doesn't seem like it.
Keep your head straight, I know its hard, but you got this. And just sit tight.

I'm thinking second wave is gonna happen here with the cold weather change.
I also expect a potential Christmas lockdown because its September and Christmas stuffs out. Normally its Halloween and bonfire but I've not seen any of that yet.

        Thinking of you!

@pridesabtch I think I'm in love with your dog, he looks so happy in the pool! I hope you can find something that works with your Mum, it's very sad when parents deteriorate. My Mum leaves me to do all the finances now, she keeps asking me if she needs to give me money bless her.

@Snowflake1968 I mostly use a laptop, and occasionally my phone, but I don't have the app as the phone is too old. I thought about clearing everything off in my settings but was worried I'd lose all the meals I've saved. I don't really know how it works!

@mytime6630 I really feel for you, you are in an impossible situation trying to keep both your husband and daughter well. I feel for your husband too, home is meant to be your safe place and he doesn't feel safe right now. This virus is making life so difficult for people.
Your neighbours story mirrors my parents, except it's not parkinsons but cancer. Dad has been in hospital for weeks and it's awful not being able to visit. We can phone, which is better than nothing, but not the same. I understand why it's like that but it doesn't make it any easier. We have a meeting next week to discuss what happens to him next, and I know it's going to be awful, not looking forward to it at all. Keep telling yourself "This too will pass".
