My top high wt is 160, so I’m actually gonna diet now.
It’s embarrassing, but I know to rise above that (it only makes it worse if I don’t)…
Scale began climbing when I developed tinnitus— luckily it has *mostly* receded into the background except Today & 2 days a week ago. I’m learning NOT to eat when it’s bugging me. Also going through tons of sentimental items -family
Members…emotions are much better than in the past, but I can tell I’m
Processing a lot in my dreams.
I might have to give myself a reward to turn this gaining trend around. Can’t think of anything I want or need.

Again, I’m SO sorry you went through this pain, suffering, and disruption. Your plan sounds solid!
I know we can both do this❣️❣️
As always, so grateful for our support of one another. We are not alone with these hiccups & we ARE committed to health even when things get in our way!
I hope your October is splendid!

Hey Maddie!
I feel ya!! I hit 166 this morning! 🤬 But I know it’s because I absolutely binged on sugar over the weekend because I was stressed out. I’m back to eating clean and really hoping to squeeze in some movement. I lean towards sedentary so when I get out of my groove, I have a hard time lighting a fire under my butt to get started again. I’ll get there and so will you. You’ve got this!!
XOXO,

Hi Maddie 😁
I saw that you were aiming for less than 1900 calories a day and 10,000 steps. That’s awesome! Do you eat whatever you want as long as it’s under 1900 or is that following a certain plan? I’m asking because I’ve been restricting calories to under 1500 and have seen very little results. I know it has to do with the lack of movement after my injury but still. I’m not eating very much and I’m barely keeping it steady at 165. Any advice?0 -

@colettebeers8501
I keep protein, sat fat, veg/fruit, and sodium at certain levels. Protein & sodium low due to kidney transplant. Focusing on lowering sat fat (cholesterol was 203-205 & LDL was 115… I decided I want them in “desirable” ranges.) I’ve upped my fruit/veg to 18 oz a day for general health & to feel more full.
My biggest advice (for you -and me) is to keep going. The weight will come off again.
I’m drinking tons of decaf hot tea all day & night. Makes it easier for me to reduce calories.
One tip I learned is if you are regaining, first focus on turning that around & maintain at the higher weight. THEN begin lowering calories. I gained 0.1lb this week & 0.0 this month. So at least that’s not a gain.
For my weight 161.4 or so & height 5’8” looks like I need ~ 1,600 cals at rest. Activity seems to give me another 600 cals.
I haven’t lost much, but I’m back to tracking super carefully “every gram” & lowering my saturated fat. I’m getting my head “back in the game.”
I will say it seems to be much tougher for me, too. My guess is I’m mildly down due to my susceptibility to COVID so no shopping, travel, can’t hug family, can’t for to classes in-person that I used to.
I’m more fatigued than usual. My knees which are never sore are aching. Cold weather?
I’m having to work a bit to remember to be grateful for all I do have: health, husband, son, friends, art interests…but we WILL get there.
BTW 1,900 was working but weekly avg ended up being 1,920. But still a big improvement.
We need to be patient & track super, super carefully.
Also, as you know, if sodium is high, it can temporarily mask a weight loss.
I hope this helps

I’m baaaack! And fatter than ever. 🤣 I’ve been in Florida in a dietary free fall for two whole weeks and honestly, I think a 5lb. gain is actually not that bad. I mean, it puts me at 20lbs over the weight I’m shooting for but I’ve lost it before. I can lose it again. I’m going to have to move my body more because I don’t want to just be hungry all the time. More veggies, more movement and for love of all that is holy, no more sugar!! That’s me!
@MadisonMolly2017 it looks like you’re doing great! Go you!!0 -

I miraculously managed to stay under 170 in what could only have been described as a dietary free fall. No exercise for a month, lots of wine, and literally shoveling food into me. Today, I’m headed to a yoga class to ease my poor body back to health. All day yesterday I ate good foods that I prepared and last night I skipped the wine. I believe we’re back on track.

Ugh lost my post @colettebeers8501
Short version …
Congratulations on getting back on track as close post Florida
I struggled Dec 1-4 & realized there really ARE foods I cannot eat if I don’t want to have the fear & struggle to get back on track.
Funny enough, the food that seems to trigger my mindless eating/fake mouth hunger is salt.
What was shocking was how 2 sugar-salt-fat foods Dec 1 triggered salty-fatty-crunchy Dec 2 & finishing them off Dec 3
Dec 4 I was begging hubby for ice cream & he wisely didn’t “bite”. Ate plain French bread instead & some processed frozen foods (and felt queasy.)
Dec 5 back in line.
Here’s the really amazing thing food calories & exercise were great the whole time, but the scale bounced up (as I usually eat a low salt diet.)
So, know I’m struggling too, but I am determined, as you are, to not be a”runaway train” as I hate dieting & know a couple of pounds will be far easier than a ton.
And I’m still in normal BMI range for my height.
And if I’m truly honest with myself, I don’t feel as good physically when I eat those trigger foods or overeat.
Maddie 🌸
PS very grateful to be in this journey with you
PPS Family here in a week for most of Dec. I’m very concerned as I do NOT want to gain. They will get some takeout. I usually do fine while they are here but gain after they leave (sad), strategizing so hopefully I can Not do that this time.
I’m focusing on all the ways I feel better slim & fit❤️2 -

Seems unlikely that I’m going to lose 18.6 lbs in the next 3 weeks but if I can make it thru the holidays under 170, I’ll be happy. I’ll be happy no matter what but it would be super cool to maintain for now. After the dust settles, I can get back to moving my body, de-stressing, and eating better.
A big part of my weight struggle comes from stress. I’ve noticed that when I start to feel overwhelmed, I immediately drink more alcohol and reach for comfort foods. I get “too busy” to hike or go to yoga. I think I need to focus on keeping the stress down going forward. For now, just get me through Xmas! 🤪1 -

Well, here we are at NYE. I’m 21.4 lbs OVER my goal. I’ve had setbacks. My schedule filled up. As a result, my stress levels rose and my exercise regimen waned. I reached for quick and easy foods that were fatty, salty, and sugary. Satisfying in the moment but not the healthiest choices. By midsummer, I had gained back around 10ish lbs., not the worst thing but then life got really interesting. At the end of August, I lost my beloved dog. I eased the pain with pizza, wine, and Netflix. When I ventured out again a few days later to clear my head with a hike, I stepped on a rock and turned my ankle. It broke. That took my exercise down to nothing for several weeks. I started doing yoga as soon as I could but the classes were mostly therapeutic-type yoga, more breathing and stretching than strengthening. They were exactly what I needed for my injuries, both emotional and physical, but did very little for my fitness goals. The holidays have come and gone with all the feasting that goes along with them. I thought I might do a juice cleanse or something for the week between Xmas and New Year’s but now I have COVID. I am once again down for the count. So here I am at 171 lbs, feeling kind of ravaged by life at present. I have never been so ready for a new year, new chapter, to begin. So now I start over from scratch. I must rebuild my strength, both physical and mental. Yoga with Adriene is doing her annual 30 day yoga challenge. I will be participating and as soon as I can get outside without killing anyone, I will be hiking and hitting the gym again. I’m also doing dry January (and beyond possibly) and am in the process of throwing away all the sugary snacks in the house. I have had a difficult few months but that doesn’t mean that I’m giving up on myself. This fitness journey is really about learning to love myself and my body more than I love my old habits. I lost 20lbs in 2020. It can be done. I’m planning to do it again in 2022 but I’m going to be gentler on myself. I was hungry a lot in 2020 and I was focused mostly on how I looked to others. This time my focus is on my health, my wellness, my happiness, and my satisfaction in life. If I do all the things that my body asks for and I still weigh the same, so be it. I don’t think that will be the case because my body really never wants M&Ms and it usually wants to move. It’s my old stories that keep me in the cycle of binging on junk food and TV. I’m writing a new chapter to a new story. That being said, I will still check in here once a week because logging what I eat and how my body reacts is an important part of this journey of discovery. Hope you’ll join me again @MadisonMolly2017. Happy New Year!0 -

@colettebeers8501 I hear you on the stress. I’ve really been working on that - even to the point of watching tv or movies (which usually I don’t.)

Well, I wasn’t under 160 on Jan 1, but I am TODAY❣️❣️❣️ Jan 3, 2022 159.7lbs
It will likely bounce a bit, but I can tell I’m eating less & more healthily - by choice.
My Maintenance Range is 155-160, but I like to be in the middle of that.
I’m going to shoot for 158.3 over the next 2-3 months.

Not sure what’s going on. I’ve had no alcohol and no sugar for two weeks and I’m eating 1500 calories or less a day. I’ve done a short yoga practice every day but I probably need to walk more. Will figure out how to work that into my schedule. It hard this time of year because it’s 20 degrees in the morning. Maybe a lunchtime hike?
Feels frustrating because I know what works I’m the short term (no carbs, calorie deficits) but I want something that is sustainable in my real life. Whatever. It’s only two weeks in. I’m sure it’ll turn around.
@MadisonMolly2017 Hope you’re doing great!

@colettebeers8501
I had replied earlier this week, but muffed the post & lost it.
I’m in the same boat as you except no Covid & not getting my calories as low as you.
I am concentrating on tracking every gram I eat & walking/hiking 90 mins /10K steps.
Just got tracking really under control Jan 16. 3 days now.
My steps average is10.5K the past week.
I feel the extra few pounds have all accumulated round my waist & I don’t like it, which is motivating me to do this.
I’ll post my weights tomorrow
I’m in here for the long haul with you.
My guess is you’ll have a delayed large drop this current week0 -

I’m still holding at a little over 170, still not walking enough, still doing yoga every day, still eating between 1100 and 1500 calories a day. Last week, I thought that maybe I wasn’t eating enough so I made sure to hit 1500 calories but my weight jumped up a couple of lbs. I’m mostly working on not getting frustrated because I feel strong and healthy. My goal is to do this in a way that I can sustain for the long term so doing keto or getting up at 5 every day to work out is out. I’m not that girl! Lol.
@MadisonMolly2017 don’t you hate when you lose a post?! Makes me crazy! Anyway, thanks for the support it means a lot. Sounds like you are doing the work. You should see some good results soon! We both will! Take good care XOXOX0
