JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS ~ ROUND 104

I mentioned in my post that I took a cooking class - Chocolate Truffles! It was on a whim because I have an unmet need these days for my sweet tooth. I will give them to my hubs for valentines day - maybe try one or two but that is it! It fed my need for creativity. They were pretty easy just requires patience in temperinng your chocolate.
WOW those look amazing!5 -

Hello friends!
OSW 201
Round 102 EW 189.8
Round 103 EW 188.8
Goal this round <187.0
1 - Track my calories everyday and stay below maintenance
2 - Hit my steps every day
02/06 188.2 I'm happy starting off with this number, finally getting close to my start weight way back from 2 rounds ago. Maybe my body is getting used to the meds now. I just need to keep up my plan over the weekend and not blow it.
02/07 187.4 Very excited to see this drop. Maybe I will make my goal this round! Just skimmed by under my calorie goal yesterday so that was good. Veggies and lean turkey for lunch and Mexican dinner with lady friends tonight. I'm thinking grilled chicken taco salad?
02/08 189.6 Ok I did fine on the food, but the Texas margarita pushed me over the edge of my calories. Rats. And here to pay the salt fine is an extra 2.5 lbs from yesterday. Hope it subsides quickly.
02/09 189.x I forgot to record it
02/10 189.2 wow this is ridiculous. TOM finally came 26 days late.. I can only assume this is water weight hanging around. Also came down with a bad migraine today which causes me to crave carbs and sugar.. Didn't eat healthy but I still came in under my calories so there's that. Gym tomorrow!
02/11 191.4 really don't know what I'm doing wrong. Today I'm going to drink some dandelion tea to try and get rid of some of this water retention. I don't normally record my water intake but I think I will start just to pay more attention to it.
02/12 190.8
02/13 190.4 I got 2x as many steps as usual yesterday so that's a NSV. Sticking to my pre-planned meals today.

Day/Weight/Comment:
02/07: 128.0 Good start. Met my protein goal yesterday. Probably won't weigh in again for a few days, just wanted an accurate starting weight. Today was a rest day but I ended up playing an hour of pickleball. Will do my leg gym workout tomorrow.
02/08: Went over on calories today, went to a party and made good choices but pretty impossible to track.
02/09: Played some pickleball outside, spent the rest of the day working and stayed well under my calorie goal but did not meet my protein macro.
02/10: Tentatively stepped on the scale - still at 128.0, phew. Hoping to stay on track today, I'm getting a cold, have a boat load of work to get through and didn't sleep well. Sort of a recipe for a disaster. Plus, I'm skipping my workout today and have a class tonight, feeling scattered and off kilter. Thinking a nap might help.
02/11: 127.4 lbs. Had a fantastic work out this morning followed by an hour of pickleball with my left hand, sort of getting the hang of it. Off to work and maybe look at some dresses if I get a minute.
02/12: 127.4 lbs. Great workout this morning followed by 1 hour of pickleball. Hit my protein macro yesterday and am on track to do it again today.
02/13: DNW, was too cold to undress for the scale . I'm ready for sun and summer! Hit my protein macro yesterday and stayed under calories. Today is a rest day, always hard to not have those extra workout calories. Yesterday was a leg workout day and I decided to see if I could handle squats with a barbell instead of using the Smith Machine and I did it! I'm planning to transition to just doing barbell squats from now on, much better for me to have to stabilize my body than to rely on the smith machine to keep the weights steady. Was concerned that my elbow wouldn't be able to handle the weight but I was careful and it was ok. Woot!

Round 103 - Jan.28 to Feb.6
Female, 5’, 66 years. SW – 165, GW – 163 something, UGW – 140. (This really should be 125 or 130 but that seems like such a long ways to go and 140 would be a huge improvement.) The 12 hr. IF along with everything else (portion control, watching calories in foods, exercise) seems to be working well for me.
Day/Weight/Comment
02/07 – 166 – Out for dinner Thurs., for sure way over cals.
02/08 – 165.8
02/09 - 166
02/10 – 165.8 – Rather late to the game and thought about skipping the Round but then thought, “And would I end up making those cheat days? Oh, very possibly – just by accident, of course, you know.” So back at it. Off to the gym today and sunshine in absolutely blue sky after days of gray fog and snow.
02/11 – 165.6 – Sorting through papers and came across the Dr.’s handout on invisible GERD. Untreated it can affect your vocal chords! As someone who loves singing and has worked pretty hard at improving the last few years, this is major motivation. Of course, the primary suggested treatment is lose weight. The second is no food in the evening.
02/12 – 164.8 – So happy to see this. Made tuna quiche yesterday because my husband, who won’t eat it, was away and I love it. Thought I was way over calories but stuck to my determination to log and found out that I was ok – that kept me from giving up and eating random stuff. It helped that breakfast was a bit lighter and there was no cheese in the quiche. Also, with the invisible GERD on my mind, I was careful to stick with the IF. Off to the gym today and then careful grocery shopping – no bad treats, if they come in my house I Will eat them.
02/13 – 164.6 - 😊 Good gym time although I took it easy on the arms as they are sore from painting. Didn’t manage the shopping, so off to do that today. Stuck with IF and logging.

Day/Weight/Comment
02/07 - 371.6 - No change from yesterday. Slow and steady. I've lost almost 17 lbs. in the 4 weeks since starting this *Give me 10 days* challenge.
02/08 - 372.1 - A slight uptick, prolly from a little cheat day. Mom wanted a donut, so I bought one for myself. Put me very close to my caloric goal.
02/09 - 375.0 - Huge gain. I had an urge for pizza and cheesey bread. And ate most of it. If I start going down again over the next few days, I'm fine with the occasional splurge. If not, I may have to rethink the idea of a cheat day... at least to this degree.
02/10 - 373.8 - Coming back down after a really bad eating weekend. It's ok as long as it only happens very seldom.
02/11 - 372.8 - I'm staying with my initial thoughts that the occasional cheat day is ok, especially if it slows down a weight loss that is too rapid.
02/12 - 370.8 - Back to the downward trend. I might still make my goal to get under 370 before this round.
02/13 - 371.6 - I thought yesterday's drop was a bit much. So a 2-day drop of 1.2 seems more realistic. I'm good!

55 lbs lost since returning to MFP, Oct. 2017
69 (76.8) lbs lost since Sept. 201712 -
02/07 242.6. Feels good to be taking steps to address the weight issue instead of continuing to surrender to it. Logging food is a must this time. Decided I wasn't hungry at breakfast so with the exception of a splash of skim in my coffee I have bee 15 hours between meals. Time for lunch now! Will keep it "between the lines."
02/08 240.8, morning blood sugar 117. I'll take it. Logging food did indeed make me consider choices and alternatives as the day waxed late and I had fewer calories left in the budget. Weekends are ALWAYS a problem for me, though, so I need to keep my head in the game.
02/09 238.8 morning blood sugar 112. This surprises me, as I gave in and ate 4 slices of french bread with dinner. (Blue cheese and honey drizzle, my resistance was futile.) Needless to say, I hadn't prepared for this splurge so I was 300 calories over target. I have to remember that, for me, the end result of the day starts with what decisions I make at breakfast. I also have to remember that for whatever reason it takes my body two days to show the consequences of a bad eating day, so I can't get too happy with today until I see tomorrow.
02/10 239.8. more later.
02/11 239.9 blood sugar 99. Well the sugar says I ate okay yesterday, even if the scale is still protesting about the weekend. Stayed under 1300 calories yesterday. But I woke up hungry this morning so I am going to have to plan carefully to avoid temptations. I see lots of water in my future!
02/12 no weigh in. Very rough day / night, spent a lot of it at emergency room with Wyfe. She has some very weird stuff going on with her blood chemistry. PCP saw her yesterday and called an ambulance, potassium levels so high they were afraid her heart might stop beating on the way to hospital. Many hours and many tests later they concluded she is not in imminent danger and she was sent home with instructions to see a hematologist as soon as she can schedule it. Aging is not for sissies. Anyway, as it applies to me, I ate junk yesterday and when I got home I completely spazzed out with emotional eating. The scale and I were not on speaking terms this morning.
02/13 240.4. This is out of hand. No breakfast today. Lunch today was 280 calories. Tossed salad with dried cranberries added, lite dressing, 2 campari tomatoes, SF jello, banana.

@bearly63 - Those truffles are gorgeous! How did you do the gold? And what flavors are they? My husband usually doesn't eat sweets, except for very dark chocolate (80+%). He'll eat an occasional whiskey-spiked truffle or a chocolate-covered strawberry, but never more than one or two. It can be very frustrating!
@shunggie - I love walking in the snow! Sadly, we've had hardly any this year Those deer sure are pretty - as long as they stay out of my garden and away from my flowering trees! Thanks for sharing your photo. It brightened up a rainy day7 -

02/11 - 65.8kg (+0.1kg) - Fasting: Y - Activity: Y - Calories: Y - cycling commute 25km, pre-logged my food and stuck to the plan despite struggling to re-adjust to lower calories. Looking forward to starting to see the scale coming down soon...
02/12 - 65.6kg (-0.2kg) - Fasting: Y - Activity: N - Calories: N - Oops. Tough day, emotional eating, therapeutic glass of red wine, skipped two options for being active. But! I didn't go too crazy and my average weekly calories are still under my target for weight loss so it's still good. Sticking to the plan!

Over on my calories again - so eating at maintenance this round so far. No real excuses but... My partners parents are staying for 5 weeks (we are up to week 3) and they're here on holiday so any day of the week someone cracks a beer or a bottle of wine and then the nibbles come out and ... well... you get the picture. I'm struggling with fasting in the mornings as well, which is usually when I am most motivated to exercise, and I just don't think I will get the same from a workout without fuel, and the thought of not eating for hours after a 90min mountain bike session does NOT appeal to me. I'm also irrationally annoyed at the scale and it's stupid numbers but as they say "Don't be upset by the results you didn't get, with the work you didn't do"!
Note to self: Patience - Consistency - Results!

- February: I need to focus on getting back to where I was pre-Christmas
- 2020: Goal is to stabilise weight around 145
- Strengthen strategies to reframe the tendency to use unhealthy snack food as a reward/treat.
- Make sure I have prepared healthy snacks available
- Cut down on eating between meals
Back Story:2018:2020
My goal was to get down below 160, to allow me to enjoy the indulgences of holidays and celebrations.
2019
I exceeded that and have been below 150 for most of the last 2 months.
In 2018, I put on 10 lbs over the last 2 months of the year.
In 2019, I consistently lost weight since the end of July. I put on about 4lbs over the Christmas break, but was still below my original 2019 goal.
That's a WIN in my book!
I need this more than ever now that I am in maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Day/Weight/Comment:
02/07: 201.5 (+0.5); Thursday info: 4548 steps, 4 of 12, 5hr44m (74); Thursday was another long day of work and then dinner out with friends. I was tied to my desk and did not exercise after I got home from dinner. I saved a decent # of calories for dinner but we had sushi and I ate all the edamame. That was A LOT of sodium. I never know how to log sushi so I just gave up. Made sure NOT to eat anything extra before bed.
02/08: 202.5 (+1.0); Friday info: 4359 steps, 6 of 12; 5hr23m (73); Friday was a short day at work. I skipped family dinner and sort of went off the rails at home. “Shark Week” is due to begin soon and I’ve been craving salt, salt, and more salt. Not getting my water in at home either. ******I know this is just a small hiccup and I will get past it. Even as my weigh-in’s remind me of a heartbeat (up, down, up, down), I am still on a downward trend. Instead of focusing on the # on the scale, I will keep trying to move and log. The scale will work itself out as I go.
02/09: 202.5 (0) Saturday info: 9520 steps, 6 of 12, 7hr18m (81); Saturday was barn day! While we had snow flying, I did make the 125 drive to the barn to ride with friends. I was able to ride 2 this weekend for about 60m of activity. Then I made the 125 trek back home, with more snow flying. I got Wendy’s (apple bites/grilled chicken) for lunch and grabbed Subway (oven roasted chicken breast with tons of veggies & Cheetos) for dinner but I got a footlong instead of a 6inch. Then I seemed to just snack mindlessly the rest of the night after getting some bad news about my DA. So it was an 80/20 day for me with lots of steps and calorie burn. (4hr28m fat burn, 7m cardio, 2m peak for a total of 4hr47m & 1149 calories burned)
02/10: 202.3 (-0.2); Sunday info: 1836 steps, 3 of 12, 11hr11m (78); Sunday was a bad day. My DA passed away around 6am after being taken off life support the day before. Apparently, she had been hiding how bad she was from everyone, including her only child. ((My best friend’s Grandmother had passed away early Saturday morning after her 2nd stroke in about 10 days.)) I was just emotionally exhausted. I had no desire to really do much of anything. Mom and I just waited for info to come in and tried to update family in KY. ((I was worried about who was going to be #3, as we all know death comes in 3’s.))
02/11: DNW; Monday info: 2195 steps, 3 of 12, 6hr13m (80); Monday was even worse. I woke up with a migraine and just could NOT adult so I stayed home from work. I laid in bed until I couldn’t stand it anymore. My mom and I were just zombies all day. Mindless eating. Then we got a call that my grandmother’s friend passed away (she had also had a stroke) so, that was 3 in 3 days. So very heart breaking. I was feeding my sadness all day long. **Again, this is just life and it happens so I will keep on keeping on and work harder to get myself back on track.
02/12: 202.3 (0); Tuesday info: 5659 steps, 9 of 12, 5hr6m (80); Tuesday I got back to work and back to my regular routine. I did a lot of crying but talking about things helped me process the loss of my Aunt. I got my eating back on track but didn’t do any extra exercise. For some reason, I cannot seem to get more than 5hrs of sleep on “school nights”. Need to make a better effort on this part. My cousin stopped by with his GF and they filled us in on all the things no one knew about my Aunt’s final months. She had been preparing to not be around much longer but never told anyone. We all agree that she was probably waiting until my cousin’s nasty divorce was final and his children were safe in his custody.
02/13: 201.1 (-1.2): Wednesday info: 4525 steps, 4 of 12, 5hr5m (78); Wednesday was even more back to normal. Work was work. Eating was 100% accounted for. Still didn’t do any exercise or get more than 5hrs of sleep. One more day at the office and then 4 days of time away from everything with my Mom and Aunt/Uncle in KY. Taking my laptop so hopefully I can check in here to keep me accountable, even if I’m not weighing in. Love you guys!!!

02/06 …..192.1….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
02/07 …..192.1 ….. I am starting my new plan today. I will closely monitor my glucose readings to see how it affects me. I watching also to see what happens with my tummy. So far this morning, it feels like taking my brain out and turning it completely backwards. Logging will be extra important so I can figure all this out. This experiment will likely be temporary. In the end, I don’t think it is what is normally best for me overall. Just what I need right now in regards to several medical issues. Good luck everyone this round!
02/08 …..192.0 ….. My gluclose numbers have been running too high (which is what my medication normally treats as high glucose has been my main problem over the years). Probably because of the carb increase. But it doesn’t cause the sickness and panic eating that the lows do. I will continue with my experiment and see what happens. I am just not used to considering the calories as much so it’s a brain swicheroo thing but I’ll get it. I know lower carb is better for my glucose so I am going to experiment on eating fewer calories but higher carb. The best way to explain is maybe less actual Keto and more low or thoughtful carb intake (low glycemic vs high glycemic etc). I don’t yet know what the numbers will be. Under 50 carbs? Under 100 Carbs? I’m going to try to tweak this thing for sure. If I see any persistent dangerous levels, I will make immediate necessary changes. Let’s see how this continues to go.
02/09 …..193.0 ….. Pizza. But too much. This experiment is finding me able to eat whatever I want pretty much, or so it seems at first. Then, I find it’s the quantities I must watch closer than I usually have to. So it's not quite as easy as I thought. I don’t know if I’m equipped for this mindset. It just makes me feel like I’ve thrown diet right out the window, until it doesn't make me feel that way at all! Still a restriction, but of a different kind. I suppose that whole and healthy is always the way to go, regardless of which plan you choose. Then, I forgot to test my blood sugar this morning so I lost the opportunity to see how badly pizza affects it. One thing for certain, no sugar drops in sight. I’ve got to worry now about it going too far north instead of south. I travel tomorrow out of town with brother for his test results. Likely a restaurant. I will not turn it into a binge day!
02/10 …..193.1 ….. I call this a normal fluctuation this morning. Traveled today and became a human vacuum cleaner. I really don’t even know at this point what my calories should be with this experiment I am on. The same as before? A bit more? I just don’t know. I am consistently hitting in the 1500’s which normally puts me over. I think this is for the birds. I’m rethinking but still nervous about my glucose. I guess I’ll just have to sleep on it. All in all, I honestly don't know is its such a bad idea, I just don't think I'm ready for such a major transition. I dunno. Gotta lot to think about still yet.
02/11 …..194.8 ….. Still a weight gain after travel & restaurants but overeating is overeating on any plan. School is finally reopened today. It has been closed since after session on the 3rd. closed to massive student and staff illness with the flu. So It has been over a week since I could do my normal walking. It is so hard to gauge my experiment when most of my exercise has come to a halt. Northern Michigan has been gripped with this flu. I was sick most of last week myself and though everything including our government offices were shut down over it, I still am not sure if it was flu or body organ pain. I swear it felt more like pancreatitis or gall bladder. I’m still trying to use my fats more as a lever and give my gall bladder a break! I have a new idea for today. We’ll see how it pans out. In the meantime, my morning fast glucose numbers are THROUGH THE ROOF. First too low, then too high. There has got to be a happy medium in there somewhere! I’m going to follow through for another few days with the new ideas & information I’m acquiring. If it doesn’t get any better, I’m back to my low-carb basics! The next few days should be little (to no) traveling and more walking again. This will give me a better picture with my normal exercise and movement routine back in place. Quilting Jaine Your tip to drink plenty of water when traveling as it will flush but also require you to stop more often and MOVE, is so insightful. The VERY BEST thing about this particular challenge is the insights people have and share. Sometimes someone can just see things from an angle I hadn’t seen or thought of. I always travel with my hot black coffee, that helps a bit, but the water is even better (and healthier). From now on, I bring both! I am ALWAYS, ALWAYS low on my water intake when I travel. NO MORE! Thanks so much for another great tip!
02/12 …..194.6 ….. A little better but still over calories. Tweaking but without much faith. Walked at the school yesterday during DGS #1 tutoring. Walked 83 minutes burning 516 extra calories. I burned 2746 Calories total for the day which is more than I ate I walked 7.3 Miles total for the day which was 17,243 Total Steps. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 4 hours & 25 minutes but woke up refreshed. I am still not getting in my water. Staying busy and not thinking of it like I should. I’m a mess really but I’m going to see this through.
02/13 …..194.2 ….. Another smaller number on the scale. I’ve been monitoring my glucose numbers and they are still too high but gradually going down as I tweak my carbs. My last 5 morning fasting numbers including today’s are: 279, 259, 235, 217, 207. As I reduce my carbs my numbers get better, however, going too low causes the dangerous sugar drops I was experiencing after I got out of whack (after Christmas). Last night, I changed up my final meal after closing out so my carbs & cals were a bit higher than expected (I finished a leftover). Numbers as follows: 1526 Calories In / 2647 Calories Out. 87 Net Carbs. 13,868 Total Steps & 5.87 Total Miles. 11/13 Fitbit Step Hours. I slept 6 hours & 8 minutes and felt pretty good. I walked for 73 minutes at a very brisk pace for me and burned 597 extra calories. We shall see how further reductions in carbs & calories work for me at this stage. I am counting on the scale and the glucose readings to help me make the right changes. Obviously, my carbs need to go down more.

Round 104 (26 for me)
The 2020 leg of this journey got off to a slow start. Finally saw a loss in the last round after two rounds of gains. Patience and perspective: If I lose an average of two pounds per month, I can reach my goal weight by the end of the year. Just got to keep on keepin’ on.

Day/Weight/Comment
02/07 – 171.4 – Busy day, with a great gym session. Had company over for drinks and dinner. Eyeballed my portions and didn’t log, but I didn’t overdo it and only had one cocktail.
02/08 – 171.0 – Back down a bit to start the day, but dinner out put me over my calorie budget for the day. A bit sore from yesterday’s gym session, but today was a rest day. Hope to get out to walk tomorrow.
02/09 – 172.0 – Up today, but not surprised. Didn’t make it out to walk, but I got a lot of work done online this morning. Made Korean short ribs with lots of salty sides, I’ll probably see another sodium spike tomorrow, but the meal made my husband very happy, so it was totally worth it. Didn’t bother to log, but I’ll be back on track tomorrow.
02/11 – 172.0 – All goals met. (Forgot to post.)
02/12 – 170.6 – Nice to be back down. Rainy day, so I walked the indoor track for an hour between classes. Met my calorie and hydration goals. Chores tomorrow.
02/13 – 170.6 – Finally made it to the morning Pilates class. I definitely need to work on my flexibility!
02/14 – 170.0 – Excited to see this number. Got some cardio in today and met my calorie and hydration goals.

Ready for round 104 {41st for me}
OSW 88KG
RSW 59.90 kg (-28.1 kg) or {- 62 lbs}
Goal....stay under 60kg...a month of maintenance.
02/07 58.85kg much more where I want to be. Need to keep low calories to save some for tasting a variety of international dishes on Sat
02/08 58.35kg a new low which is ironic as I decided this was to be a month of maintenance! I have an international food event tonight which I will keep keto but not worry about calories.
02/09 59.5kg I caved and ate carbs... The bloat is real
02/10 60kg and hoping that's the end of the carb bloat.
02/11 60.05kg all green yesterday so this should start going down soon. Gym done
02/12 58.95kg wasn't hungry last night so I didn't have dinner. Gym done and ready for the rest of the day!
02/13 59.25kg which is fine... Still under 60kg which is all I need this month.
02/14 59.2kg all good

Hi. My name is Trina.
Hoping to end my frustrating stretch and start making progress back down to where I was before the holidays. Good news is that I've been doing this long enough that I'm not ready to throw in the towel and I figure it has to work at some point. Bad news is I've been doing everything right for 3 weeks and not made any progress on getting below what I thought was a temporary bump up. I'll hang in if you all hang in!

RSW 140.5
02/07 - 140.5 At least it isn't up. Low cals yesterday to make up for the day before....plus wasn't too hungry. A bit irritated not to see more friendlies on the scale!
02/08 - 140.0 Still on track. Still irritated. Lots of movement yesterday, big deficit.
02/09 - 138.5 Happy to see this number and trying not to get to excited. I deserve it...but that doesn't mean it will stick around.
02/10 - 139.5 Yup. Scale is up (to it's old antics.)
02/11 -141.5 Stress eating yesterday. I failed to breathe adequately yesterday during radiation, or the computer failed, but one way or another they sent me home without radiation. This potentially throws a wrench in the spring break plans as I won't finish til Monday during spring break. My lovely 17 year old son was so sweet. He definitely thought my health should come first and that skipping the last treatment would be pretty dang stupid.
02/12 - 142 -- Ate better yesterday and got my walk in, but it was a really stressful afternoon. I ended up on the radiation table for 90 minutes with my arms up over my head while they recalibrated and fussed around to get the machine to work. All I had to do was breathe, and occasionally take in a deep breath and hold it. Apparently that was more than I could handle. By 60 minutes in I was seriously melting down, light headed and my arms were dead and in serious pain. I tried yoga breathing, meditating, prayer and could not get past it. They gave me one break (in which I did melt down) and then I managed to get through the final 30 minutes and they did finally do the first treatment. The appointment ran an hour over and I was supposed to pick up my son and bring him to the dentist. Of course I didn't have my phone and had no idea of the time anyway. Luckily he called my husband and was only 15 minutes late. Wish me luck today.
02/13 - 142 -- Radiation was a bit tough yesterday, but pretty easy today. I'm thinking I'm over the hump.
