Nice running @rheddmobile and I have to agree, I am sure there were actually more people than normal on the Cuckoo Trail where I run so I switched on the way back and ran by the dual carriage way which was ugly but quiet.
One of my bedrooms is now a full on storage space and we have bags of rubbish for when the waste and recycling centre re-opens.
I didn't envy your decision @Avidkeo and know you are not isolated from all of us here who love you for what you do and support you. We are already one day nearer to the end of this madness!5 -
@TheMrWobbly - impressive clearout work! I’m planning to do some reorganising in my loft eaves and the space under the stairs this week but I can’t stand the idea of having the bags of junk hanging around until we can take them to the Easter centre. But need to do something while at home!!
@Avidkeo - you are doing an amazing job. Be kind to yourself and rant wherever and whenever you want.
I’ve clocked another 4 miles this morning so have (nearly) ended the month with double my goal. I’m hoping I can keep up this running streak into April but feel almost superstitious about setting targets. Let’s see how I feel when I land on our April group page on Wednesday!
Hope everyone is staying healthy- mentally and physically - and has someone they love nearby. X

Some of you might be interested in this "No Race, No Problem" virtual challenge to run a marathon a week in the month of April (not all in one run, broken up however you want) for a total of 104.8 miles for the month (comes to 3.5 miles/day average).
I'm going to do the challenge but I'm not registering or getting the bling (although it's pretty nice, I copied it below) as I'm trying to limit spending right now. If anyone wants to join me in doing the challenge (or modifying it to your own goal), it might be fun for us to keep us going during April. There is a pdf in that link where you can track your miles if you want.
The sponsor Willow Running is local to me, but there is a way to have the swag mailed to you at your expense if you wanted to sign up for it. So you don't have to click through it is $42.50 and here is the bling: "All finishers that complete the challenge will receive a custom finisher medal, custom shirt, Zulu Audio Wearable Speakers (retail value $39.99)*, $10 gift certificate from Confluence Running, A new plant based and gluten free BOOM! Energy Bar, a $10 Willow Running gift certificate ($10 off any 2020 Willow Running event) and a Fidelis Care swag bag."

Great job @brittanystebbins95 ! You killed it!
@rheddmobile Sounds like you had a great run! Glad you are figuring out how to run safely in your neighborhood. Congrats on making your monthly goal already! Baby raccoons are the cutest! We had a family in a hollow tree behind our house one year. It was so much fun to watch them when they start getting out and learning to climb.1 -
No frills slog of 5km on the think-I'd-rather-be-deadmill this morning as Hal demanded. Hal called it a 'base run' (which I take to mean easy) but demanded a pace of 8:19min/km. Yeah, that would be an easy pace for me outside, but on the dreadmill it's pretty damn tough! I managed to increase the speed by a little bit every kilometre, and ended up with an average of 8:26 which his Halship considered good enough, phew!
So, that was my last run in March and brings my total for the month to 129.1km. I can't remember if I set myself a distance goal or not, but I don't really care, tbh. I ran a goddam HM on a treadmill and continue to run shorter distances on it 4 times a week despite hating it, that's good enough for me!
For Wednesday, he's calling for a 40 minute tempo run with the middle of the pyramid paces looking to be challenging but doable. The saying is 'what doesn't kill me makes me stronger', right?
@Avidkeo my heart is aching so much for you this week. I wish I could say or do something to help, all I can come up with is if you ever want to rant I'm very happy to offer you a supportive ear (well, eyes, you know what I mean!)
Virtual hugs to absolutely everyone at this difficult time!

Right now I'm grateful that my family is still all healthy (especially the health care workers in my family -- they all work in hospitals or long-term care facilities, so I've been thinking about them a lot).
I'm also grateful that I've embraced running in the rain (I usually just go on the treadmill when it's raining, but that isn't an option now). We've got rain/slush forecast for several days this week.

@Avidkeo Hugs to you. Sometimes a good cry really helps! Got to get that emotion and stress out!
@rheddmobile Lol....Raccoons in the attic? We had a similar yet slightly different problem. Heard scurrying in our attic. Called the pest guy and he put a trap (non killing kind) with a marshmallow up in the attic. Caught a ring tail cat (relative of a raccoon) tearing up our insulation, nesting. Did not find babies thank goodness. He took it far away and let it go.
Did the same thing - plugged up the roof eaves and under deck areas that could let them in, trimmed the trees away from the roof since that is most likely how they get to our roof. Haven't heard them yet - fingers crossed!4 -
Just read in the news that an employee of one of the grocery stores I was in last week has tested Covid-19 positive! Great. Of course, didn't say WHERE in the store she worked, but now I'm being even more vigilant of myself.... (And, of course, hoping she and the other employees and customers are well and safe.)7

Such a nice day out today, so I went for a run on my rural road in my new skort. I really like it and will probably order another soon. Anyway, the run today was odd and wound up being in 3 segments because I stopped to talk to my mom and dad (they live 0.5 miles from my house), then an elderly neighbor with dementia and her niece came out on her porch when they saw me and I stopped to talk to them. On the cool down walk home, another neighbor was mowing his lawn and I stopped to talk to him too. So, there was about 20 minutes of standing around in the middle of my running/walking today. BTW, I did practice social distancing while being social....except I am a hugger and totally wasn't thinking and hugged my aged neighbor. I hadn't seen her in a while and it was an instinctive reaction. But, it was brief and a side hug, so I think we're safe.
The run itself was not as easy as I had hoped, but it wasn't horrible either. The wind was blowing, so that didn't help anything. I ran/walked 3.5 miles at an average 11:30 pace. The warm up and cool down walks totaled 1.04 miles. I did this on purpose to try to make the monthly mileage an even number. I also thought I was meeting my goal today. As you can tell, I totally missed that calculation. There's always tomorrow to get it right.

@Avidkeo Big Hugs to you. We are here for you
@TheMrWobbly Very impressive on the clean out. I really need some tips!
So 'race report'
Set everything out the night before as I would any race to try and get the feel of it.
Woke up, got dressed, had coffee, banana, got my gear, and drove to the park where I was going to start.
It called for a loop (about 2 miles )around the lake and then on to the green way for roughly 4.5, and then back to the lake and another loop to get to 13.1.
Remember I said I would try to race it and if I wasn't feeling it, just enjoy it? Well the latter happened.
I tried, I really did, but either it was warmer than I expected (like @PastorVincent even though it was only 71F, I guess I'm not used to it yet - especially when it's going to get crazy hot here later) or my head space wasn't right, or I didn't rest enough before, I dunno.
The first 4-5 miles I kept within pace (which in itself was hard to do), but after that, I almost just gave up. I was also already half done with my water...I kept telling myself get to the half way point then decide..so I kept going each mile getting slower and slower, so I just decided to do run/walk intervals. I wanted to finish this and complete it, so for the last 6 miles that's what I did. The run intervals also started getting shorter. I was almost out of water so really it was for the best. I also fueled more than normal thinking that might be it, but I just think it was not my day. By the time I got back to the lake I really wanted to just stop and get in my car and end this. But again I said, it s just one more loop, 2 miles which I have done a gazillion times. So continued through and man was I ever glad it was over! So from trying to get a PB, I ended up quite happy that I finished in about 2:32:30.
The other thing: SO MANY PEOPLE. I mean more than I have ever seen and I have been running this route for years.
We have eagles that are nesting in the park, and there were crowds of people crowding to see them. Not to mention the bikers, kids, families. There really was no social distancing going on. I was weaving a lot, and maybe this all added to my frustration. Last week I had a great 'race' with great time, yesterday not so much. But I know that there can always be bad days, and I have to accept that. Even felt more tired than I usually do after a run that long.
I'm just glad I finished.
Got home, put on my medal, chugged some chocolate milk, took a shower, ate, and plopped on the couch for most of the rest of the day.
Needless to say, resting today, but may just go for a walk around the 'hood to shake out the legs.
Did meet March goals so that was also a plus!
Thanks for reading!13 -

Morning all.
Work was really really quiet last night, it was odd. That calm before the storm feeling. Had an OK sleep, but am still tired.
Rest day today so I'm going to read a book then go for a long walk. Probably have a nap again before going to work at 3.
Amazed by everyone still getting out and doing their runs. Just incredible! And even more impressed by people doing dreadmill runs!6 -
@hamsterwheel6 Nice effort! You did it. Cute pic and what a cute neighborhood!0

I had grand intentions of forest service trails today. But then learned that the spots that aren’t closed as “developed recreation areas” are pretty well still under snow. So, decided I was going to go out and just do a nice long walk and get some sunshine time in, and enjoy it. So, then I promptly pulled my door shut without my keys.... ugh... and all of my “spare key” options are limited by people not being at work/no walk in access/office doors locked.... so, I got my hour of sunshine time, but it wasn’t as relaxing or fitness focused as I was hoping.
I even have a key copy that’s I made to try and solve such problems.... but I just haven’t figured out where to put it, that wouldn’t 1. Also be likely locked or 2. Be too obvious for my neighbors.5 -
@Elise4270 Is that chart world wide or the USA? Love the trend for today, whichever it is.0

It is world wide. The US numbers were still rising at a glance. So... Hopefully we'll get with it soon and trend down from here on.1
