@polskagirl you are also amazing!
To everyone getting out and running their races anyway, you I inspire me!
Our cases have jumped to 52 today, 2 of those are community spread, rather than people coming back from overseas with it, so it's only a matter of time before we are in complete lock down. They have released a 4 level alert system, we are level 2. I predict 100 cases by Monday, and level 3, which will involve schools closing etc. Will see. Hopefully I'm wrong, but once it's out in the community... I really like that they have released this. It gives more of a structured method to things, and we all know what's going to happen.
I am on call this weekend, I had two calls last night so am shattered. Still didy 8k training run though, figured tomorrow will be worse.
One thing I did realise is that in the lock downs, domestic travel will be restricted. So unless something major goes well, I'm confident that not only will my Marathon in July be cancelled, even if it were on I won't be allowed to travel anyway. So I'm planning on emulating you guys. We have an amazing foreshore walkway. I'm not sure how long it is but I think if I do 2 put and backs thats 42k. So planning on still doing the marathon, just at home. Because you lot have inspired me!
ETA I looked it up, its 12.7k, so yep I was right! Wonder if I can convince someone to man an aid station at the halfway point, so every 6k I can get some drink...
If we were nearer, i would totally do it0 -

Oh, the joys of spring. Thursday's run was done in summer gear with temps in the mid 40s F. Not too bad. Friday's rest day saw morning rain pushed by a warm front clear out with afternoon highs in the upper 60s F. This morning's run was in the low 30s F with some little snowflakes driven by a northwest wind. I did NOT wear summer gear today.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs
Run at least 4 5k races
Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles
Stretch goal: If I can average 169k per month, I can run 2020K in 2020
Run the Year Team: Pavement Pounders
2020 races:
4-25 Shine the Light 5k, Twinsburg, OH
5-23 Race for the Parks 5k, Hudson OH

The daycare where I work (sub almost every day) is still open. I have asked to only work if they can't find anyone else. So, for now, I am off all week next week. My HM plan called for a 9.5 mile run this weekend. However, the weather today is yuck and I have a hard time going that far on Sunday's. I have tweaked my plan so I can do the long run (will be my longest ever if I can do it) on the one day next week that it is supposed to be pretty - Thursday. I sure hope the meteorologist knows what they are talking about. If not, I can tweak it again.8

Just for fun, since this has been going around...
Did you see the movie Tangled? You know how her mom keeps her basically quarantined? Well... go look up the name of the kingdom in Tangled. 😊5 -
Thanks @Tramboman, @Scott6255, @LoveyChar and @quilteryoyo for commenting on my 50K relay.
@quilteryoyo – On Thursday I did some driveway repeats too. My drive is .10 and on a hill. I only did 5 of them for a little over a mile but it was tough. This daily rain we are getting totally sucks! I’m in need of sunshine!
Way to go on your half @eleanorhawkins! And on the treadmill! You are my hero! And congratulations also to @polskagirl01! Beautiful running path and I love your little pacer!
Yesterday I convinced some friends to an early morning run since it was my birthday. I ran 5.5 miles because, well, you guessed it, I’m now 55 years old! One of my friends brought cupcakes and they sang happy birthday to me. We kept our social distancing in place but still celebrated. I’m still working in the office with a skeleton crew. I rotate home at the end of next week and my counterpart is supposed to come in. At least that’s the plan for now. For my birthday, we ordered Panera delivery and again we had cupcakes. I feel like a cupcake today but I was energized for today’s 10-miler so maybe cupcakes will be my pre-running day fuel of choice!

WOW @PastorVincent ! Pretty weird how these things happen sometimes.
Happy Birthday @Teresa502 ! Glad you got to run and got to celebrate with friends too!
@Teresa502 The loop I do on my driveway is about 0.3 miles total. If I did the entire driveway, it would be 0.5 miles, but that's just too much hill to repeat. What I do is enough.2 -
@Teresa502 Happy birthday! I hope it's a day filled with fun whether it's running, games, movies or cake...lots and lots of cake!
@quilteryoyo You know you can do it, you know you can! Self defeating talk is enemy number one. I'm still mad at my dog. Upon further "examining" the bunnies, it looks like she was using them as toys. So sad.3 -
Happy birthday @Teresa502! So glad you were able to run and celebrate with some friends. I'd love a cupcake about now
Did you guys hear about the guy in France who ran a full marathon on HIS BALCONY! Because he was quarantined, an entire marathon on a 7 meter (23 feet) balcony and it took 6 hours and 48 minutes.

Just so happened to be at the same park as some friends this morning, running in small spaced out groups. It was a big boost for me to see friends. Even though it was much colder today, the sun was out and it was beautiful. I felt pretty stiff and sore so really wanted to cut it short, but just kept moving along with the group and got to 9 miles. That's my longest run in a month so I was really happy about that.
I got home and immediately changed and took the dog out for her exercise. We walked for an hour and I was able to catch up with some family on the phone during that time. Pretty good morning overall.11 -
@Teresa502 happy birthday! Cupcakes sound like an awesome way to carb load :-) I can confirm that Easter eggs work well too ;-)
@quilteryoyo you've got this!

I’ve decided that since I’m modifying my training to allow for better healing of my IT Band, today’s miles will be just for fun with Buzz. I am going back to my first love, the trails. Hoping for some decent mileage6
-
Thanks @eleanorhawkins and @LoveyChar. I can do it and negative thoughts are self defeating. That's why I struck that part out. My original thought was "If I can," but I realized there was no "if." I can do this! It may be slow and not pretty, but I can!
@katharmonic Just WOW about the guy doing a balcony marathon. I can't even imagine. Glad you got to meet up with some friends for your run today.2 -
Happy birthday, @Teresa502 !! Hope you had a wonderful day!!!
The balcony marathoner must share genetic material with our own @AlphaHowls !!! As I recall, she once ran a marathon in her basement. Don't know if she had her dewclaws up or not...4 -
Keeping to my C19 free postings...
Many happy returns @Teresa502 🎂
Congratulations on your wins @eleanorhawkins and @polskagirl01 and I think you should get medals made 🏅
Good to see you get back to happy running @Camaramandy648 and I am getting there myself. Let me know what date you get reschedule for to see if we can have a similar training plan again.
Ran another HM today, I have an on-line challenge that requires 5 consecutive weekends of HMs which would have been in the training plan anyway. 3 down and 2 to go (hopefully). Tough today as I turned onto the seafront after 8 miles and had 2 miles into a 45 mph headwind. Whilst that took it out of me I still feeling like I am getting back to better form.
Keep putting one foot in front of the other my friends!
Almost C19 free...

Happy Birthday @Teresa502 🎂. Have all the cupcakes!
So I did my 15K Hot Chocolate run today.
It was supposed to rain all day so I didn't know if I was going to be able to, but there was a break in the rain so I went ahead and got ready to go.
Had a banana and coffee, and headed to the green way trail. I wanted to run this like a race and to all those who said wear the bib, I did. And I did feel more inclined to do well. I got some looks and a couple of smiles from other walkers and runners so I'm glad I did.
I started strong and then took a walk break after mile 4 to fuel, and then a couple of short walk breaks at 10K, and 8 miles for water. It was getting quite warm and humid.
The last 2-3 miles were a bit slower, but......I got a PR! Average pace of 10:00 min / mile. So very happy with that!
9:35 miles in 1:33:31
Got home and put my medal on!
Now to clean up and eat and social distance with Netflix (I could clean the house cause man it needs it, but probably won't lol).13 -
@TheMrWobbly way to go on the HM! That's impressive to do back to back to back to back!1
-
@quilteryoyo You can! Do or do not, there is no try. As per Yoda!1
