I'll go back to weighing in on Fridays this month. I ate half a pizza last night but unlike @Terytha it did not have the effect of a 1.2lb loss this morning! It did however lead to a very good night's sleep!10 -
Eager to join this thread...
Hello everyone,
I am eager to begin this overall journey and wanted to introduce myself. I am:
33 years old; turning 34 next month
5'1.5"
SW: 264.88
CW: 264.88
April goal weight: <259.88
UGW: 200
GOALS:
1.) Lose weight. Use this time to try to work on my emotional wellbeing. My husband recently ended our marriage in the same week that my father passed away, so I'm trying to paddle through that and learn to love myself.
2.) Exercise most days. My goal is to exercise for 30 minutes for 4 days of the week.
3.) Learn to love myself. My self-esteem is almost non-existent and I can't stand to see myself in the mirror so I will work on loving myself, being kinder to myself, and practicing self-care.
Everyone, please be safe out here.

Hi everyone! A little late to the party! I usually weigh in on Fridays, and will do for the rest of April. It's really hard for me to post on my phone and this computer I have is ancient. I literally type a sentence and it doesn't appear until about 30 - 60 seconds later ugh!
With that, I won't be replying much to everyone but I have read all your posts and the tone is amazing! You guys are going into April with a perfect attitude!
I am ready for April to be amazing! I am looking forward to the extra time I have and hope to get a lot of "projects" done to keep me busy and out of the pantry and fridge!
I am excited that have exercised every day but 1 day this week and it feels good . Building a routine that will stay in place once I go back to work!
Here are my goals for April

Happy to join this thread. Everyone posting here is lovely, supportive, and really working hard. I have used MFP before and lost a significant amount of weight here back in 2017 prior to getting pregnant. Now baby is a toddler, but I have kept the pregnancy weight! I never used the community feature before, but I think like many, I am really struggling to get through the day right now and would do better with some support. I don’t want COVID to derail my progress!
OW - around 210 in Jan 2020
CW - around 185
Goal Weight - around 155
April Goals:
1. Meet my daily step goal (11,500) every day
2. Lose some weight
3. Strength training 2-3 times per week
4. Hopefully fit into a dress that has been hanging in my closet for the last 2 years that I feel like I am close to being able to wear again9 -
@CupcakeCrusoe, that sounds like a rough day. I hope it got better! Also, great loss! You're kicking butt in April already.
@BrownSugar174, I LOVE the shoes!! And great loss!
@Terytha, my anxiety is being frustrating, too. Sending you hugs.
@shorepine, sounds like you had a productive day. I also have a feeling I've gained a bit since I've last weighed. I've been mindlessly eating, even when I'm not hungry and it's frustrating to me because I do it anyway. Like you said, April is a fresh start!
@bluffgirl67, happy to see you on here
@skierxjes, I do not have much advice to give, but encouragement! I've also been struggling with snacking and eating mindlessly, we can do it!
@KeriA, go you! Sounds like an extremely productive day. And great job getting out and walking, I am trying to do that, too, but I'm in a bit of a funk.
@kayonaise2, I have also been feeling unexplainably hungry even though I know I should be full. We can do this.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971, great work! I always love reading about your meals, they sound so yummy.
@mmdeveau, those sound like great goals. And thank you for being on the front-line of everything going on right now AND still doing all this? You're a rockstar, seriously.
@Curvybaja55, great words, you have a good weekend, too!
@changeforeverlj, have a great weekend!
@Lasmartchika, glad to hear you're feeling better, anxiety and depression can be beasts. I love Zumba, I haven't done it in awhile.
@legion150, great work! What an amazing accomplishment.
@Tarzan37, hahah I've never had that luck with pizza either!
@jaedamvinson, welcome! We are happy to have you. Feel free to add me if you are looking for friends. I love your goals, espeically #3, that is a journey that I am still on as well.
@mmccloy12, I love your goals, too! My main goal for April is just too move more.
@mellissa0726 and @Rosie3579 welcome to both of you!! Please feel free to add me if you're looking for friends.

Hopefully I got everyone, if not, just know that I read your post! April has been rough for me (even though we are four days in haha). I am having a HUGE issue with snacking when I do not need to and just eating when I am not hungry. Logically I know that I am not hungry, but I eat the food because it's in the house. I'm trying to break myself of the habit, but it is difficult. Anyone have any tips or tricks they did to overcome it?
I also started 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels! A little bit harder than I had anticipated, but it was a fun first workout. I like having a coach to follow which is why I got a DVD. I'm hoping it jumpstarts me again. I also need to up my water consumption and just refocus. April is a new month. I can do this!8 -
Hi Everyone. had intended to just do a brief intro but turned into a "story" ... guess I just needed to get it out there. Read if you so choose; feel free to just skip it. I think is was just a cathartic way for me to vent.. March was a major downer month for me. Just days after getting our first "stay home" recommendations from the governor, my mother passed away in another state. She was 98 and like everyone lived a life with good times and bad times. She was in a senior care facility which was a half mile from my sister's home and had recently been moved into the memory care unit. My last visit was in November but I talked with her every couple of weeks. . So early March was spent making arrangements for moving her from Indiana to the funeral home here in Michigan ... took several days for it to happen. During that time I met with the funeral home several times, the florist, the cemetery, and frequent calls with brother and sister. Also dealing with the restrictions imposed by the Stay Home / distancing/ etc order. Had to call Mom's old contacts, family members, etc and tell them she had passed but that no one would be allowed to her visitation or funeral because of the Covid guidelines.
. Brother, sister, and their spouses flew in from out of state. We couldn't gather together. At the funeral home we couldn't hug, etc and most wore masks because they'd been on planes and who knew what exposure they might have had. It was a miserable time.
Now, add to that trying to do grocery shopping with everyone hoarding everything. Friends and family were dropping off all kinds of foods. And, I found myself grazing my way thru every day since I was shut up in this house alone most of the time.
. I had a full physical in January and all of my numbers came back in the excellent range ... except for being obese! I felt really good about that. With Lockdown, and the amount of grazing I was doing, I realized that number was only going to increase. So, went to Batteries Plus, got batteries for my scale, and put them in. Stepped on the scale and WHAM!!! 300 + lbs. DangIt!! I'd gained almost 20 lbs since my doctor's visit.
. And then ... the Lightbulb turned on! I realized I cannot control anything to do with the virus except my own behaviors. I can't control what the President, the Governor, my City, etc are going to do next. BUT, I CAN control my behaviors with regard to my weight... ... so, I rejoined MFP,
Cesse age 72
308.6 lbs - starting weight
305.4 lbs - today's weighin
165 lbs - goal weight
April Goals
Log all food and beverages honestly
Drink at least 8 cups of water every day
Begin to exercise; and increase duration each week
Wear a mask anytime I have to go away from the house (groceries, dr)
Find one thing funny every day and share it
Stay in touch with family and friends on a frequent basis
Get outside every day weather permits
15 -
@cesse47, that is such a sad story. I am so sorry for your loss. I congratulate you for figuring out what you can control and what is really important to you. I'm sure you are going to have great progress. Your goals are perfect for right now. Get those down and the rest will come.
@torihudson6, I find when I get a "snack attack" that a little bit of deli turkey meat and a large glass of water does the trick. Jerky works too. Sometimes your body is craving protein. Somehow protein is much more satisfying than anything else.
So it's check-in day for me:

Lose 100 pounds from Starting weight - get below 186.5- Just 3.7 pounds to go!
Run 4x/week - only did 3 this week
Get comfortable with a 5 mile run - I'm getting better.
Increase highest mileage to 8 miles - Did 7 miles today. Next week I'll drop to 5 and the week after will try to tackle 8.
Accurately log my food - Still doing this - it's the single most important thing I can do to promote weight loss
Stay well - So far so good. A friend made me cloth masks for my whole family
9 -
Oh, and I also wanted to say that I literally gasped when I stood on the scale today. I am just a little over 10 pounds from my stated goal weight. I'll re-evaluate whether to keep losing after I reach it, but I cannot believe I am so close!! So excited!16

It’s been a busy weekend for me. We decided to get back into owning chickens. We haven’t had chickens since moving interstate about 4 years ago. Now is the perfect time to have some and it’s been crazy trying to acquire some live poultry. This virus has made everyone nuts and chickens seem to be sold out everywhere. We’ve been stalking gumtree and local fb pages for any and we got really lucky. We managed to purchase 16 hens in two days! 11 of them from one seller, a regretful sale as they were going to downsize into a much smaller property and couldn’t take them with them. We’ve spent much of this weekend building the coop and stalking for hens lol. All our hard work paid off and we were rewarded with our first egg today.
Onto stats, my regular weigh in day is Sunday.
SW: 101.3kg (223.3lbs) 26JAN20
Last Sunday: 92.5kg (203.9lbs)
April SW: 92kg (202.8lbs)
CW: 91.3kg (201.2lbs)
Total loss of 1.2kg (2.6lbs) for the week. I’m so close to ONEderland and close to reaching my goal for the month of 90kg (198.4lbs). TOM is approaching so I’m not expecting much of a loss if any...damn bloat and water retention lol.

@cesse47 I read your story and I'm so sorry for your loss!! And just the sadness around the funeral and not being able to hug your family and receive hugs! I'm glad you are back here and good luck with your goals!
@svm569 You had a great loss week! Well done, and yip you are so close! Good luck with those chickens, years ago I ran a small chicken farm! I bet all that work was worth it for the egg!
@speyerj Wow, you are so close!
@torihudson6 I'm impressed you are doing Jillian Michaels, she is fierce! I agree with the protein as a snack! And water!
@Rosie3579 Hi! Good luck! I also decided that the only thing I could control was exercise and food! The rest is out of my control! So far so good!
@Brownsugar174 I love those quotes! Especially the second one! It applies to my walk perfectly! Thanks!

@changeforeverlj Thank you. And, appreciate your good wishes. Have a great day!!3

I hope that by joining this group I will regain the motivation that I had before. I just got back from a trip to California in March and walked everywhere but where I live you have to drive. I am going to try to walk more even if i have to walk around my house. I can do this because I did this before and I have extra support.
11 -
@ineedachange185 Welcome! I can't walk outside right now because of limited lung capacity and allergies. I can go out for a few minutes (which I'm hoping to do today). So, I've found a couple of beginner walking videos on YouTube to help build up my strength and stamina. I checked out a few but found Leslie Sansone's most appealing. Perhaps something like that would work for you. Good Luck!7

Sunday check in!
I've been reading all the posts and I just want to send hugs out to everyone!
For those of you who are feeling sad or have experienced recent losses: first I am so very sorry for your loss. Second, I want to share something from the Phit-n-Phat podcast that will hopefully help. Corinne will often replay Q&A sessions she hosts, and more than once she's addressed questions about eating to cope with loss. Her answer: Wait out the clock. Emotionally eating to soothe your feelings will not lessen them in the long run. Let yourself feel the sadness, because it is sad. You are allowed to sit and feel sad, and not need to distract yourself with eating.
This stuck with me because she extended her answer to address all emotional eating - with loss of a loved one being a clear and dramatic example. I would not have considered myself an emotional eater, and I still say it's not my primary overeating eating mode. But I might be a bit of an emotional eater because I definitely proved myself wrong last week.
@torihudson6 - wow, 30-day Shred! I'm sure it's still pretty popular, I'm just remembering how that program and P90-X were all the rage when I first joined MFP! I am happy you found an outlet while kickboxing is on hiatus. I'll echo what others have said for urges: I drink water first - probably about 20-24 ounces, and I try to wait about 20 minutes. If I still need something, depending on how strong the remaining urge is, I'll have something on the heavier side like Greek yogurt, or maybe a tablespoon of almond or peanut butter if it's not that strong.
@Curvybaja55 - I hear you. I am a nurse but I no longer work at the bedside. My team trains clinical new hires for our entire health system - nurses are our biggest population, but we also train every other clinical role providing direct patient care. At first we were still going into the office to train in person - my last in-person classes were on March 18th. Within the organization, our unit's VP is one who prides himself on our group being present, working side-by-side with people in our health system no matter the circumstances. I think he was overruled by the Board of Trustees and given a mandate that only the absolute most critical of our services was to be provided in person. We've been working from home now for about two weeks, with a steep learning curve to provide webinar lessons for our new hires. And we will need to start ramping up for our "busy season" - June and July when all the new residents and fellows start. So, long story short, I'm busy which is good...and also feeling guilty that I'm not in the trenches with other clinicians.
Height: 5' 6"
SW (09/08/2019): 239.2 lbs
April SW (4/1/20): 172.6 lbs
4/5/2020: 172.4 lbs
April GW: 168 lbs
GW: 150 lbs (then reconsider)
A modest loss but it's been a real up-and-down week. Being at home has me weighing at weird times. In the morning, and before I eat or drink for sure. But one day 6:30 AM and another day 9:30 AM. I think starting tomorrow I'm going to have to have a strict "you must have weighed yourself by "X" time" rule.
So, other goals:- Keep running, keep increasing distance. - Ran 2 Couch-to-10K workouts. Considering I can now run a longer time than the last week of workouts, I'm no longer repeating workouts like I was with couch-to-5K. I just do the next workout that comes up. Currently somewhere in week 12 workouts. But my long run yesterday...I hit a wall. I ended up running about 8.75 miles. I'd say the last mile and a half was a real slog. The last quarter mile as I headed home - I still don't know how I kept putting one foot in front of the other, but I did it. Somehow had a decent pace. I've been meatless on Fridays, and I'd only had breakfast and ran mid-afternoon, so I think I really was out of fuel, and my body was out of glycogen storage. (So that's how hitting a wall feels!) Plus, I might not be as hydrated as I've been lately. But it's sunny outside and I am raring to go for a nice walk today!
- Reinstate a regular core workout - was able to get two workouts in this week.
- Start doing other strength workouts - lower and upper body - twice a week. I really only go one of these done this week. I've got to get a bit more organized about getting these exercises done. I'm going to try to alternate days with the core workouts.
- Start organizing my home. Right now it's kind of a disaster. Nothing new, except with the pandemic hoarding I've got stuff crammed everywhere. - I've made a list...and did one thing. I moved a lamp. Yes, I'm that lazy about my house. But I did do a good amount of batch cooking for meal prep.
- Stay sane, somehow. - only partly successful at this, me thinks. I definitely feel on the verge of tears more frequently than usual.
- And as always, keep taking care of my skin. Oh, it's so, so horrible. - Still not great about this.
I'll leave you with a bit of motivational humor I saw on another message thread:
"When I come out of quarantine, I want to look like a snack, not like I ate all the snacks in the house!"
My new mantra!
Stay strong everyone!11 -
I got a gym workout in today at work.
My work gym sucks honestly but it has a treadmill, a squat rack and a bench press with a couple plates so it's still possible to get some strength work in. It felt good to use my muscles again after a few weeks of not being able to. Though it felt weird to be at work on Sunday.
Went for half an hour then hosed everything down and left. Can't get sanitizer for anything but I'm allowed to write off as much isopropyl alcohol as I need out of stock. It's nice that we have that option.10 -

Welcome to new members.
@legion150 congratulations , love those goals
@Tarzan I guess there is a pizzademic I had pizza last night. I didn’t lose but didn’t gain.
@jaedamvinson I am sorry that you lost your father and marriage recently. You are right to concentrate on being kind to yourself and taking care of yourself.
@AlexandraFindsHerself Yay! 25 lbs is great!
@mmccloy12 you are doing well to exercised regularly.
@torihudson I was in a funk on Saturday too. Or maybe Saturday is going to be my day to not have big to do’s. It is such a different mind set. I always made sure that I didn’t have more food than what I needed. But now I have to have a months worth of food around.
@cesse47 I am sorry about your loss at such a difficult time. I am glad you joined MFP and found us. Sounds like you have a great plan. It is really a plus that you had a good physical and now you are addressing the one thing you need to.
@speyerj That is exciting!
@svm569 Your decision to get chickens makes much more sense than ours to get a pair of kittens right before the stay at home order. At least you got an egg from your decision.
@ineedachange185 Now you have nice memories . There is someone I read about who was training for a marathon before this pandemic hit so now he is training in his small back yard.
@mmdeveau I think making a list and doing 1 thing is a good idea during this time. Your health is more imortant than you house.

Hello I'm new to this group and new to this app. I would love to make some friends to help me through this.
I'm 23
SW 206
CW 206 just started.
GW 160.
This month of April I would love to be under 200. And start some good habits. With being in college and working full time it can be hard to get a workout in. So I really want to work on setting time aside to improve myself. Thanks!10 -
Coming on here is on my to do list everyday but yesterday I ignored that. I ignored getting exercise. I watched a movie on netflix which isn't usual for me. We got Papa Murphy's pizza. I eventually got the idea that I needed a break from what my father used to call doing something constructive. I logged my food and I think I was okay with water.
I have had some very small snacking problems lately either when lunch didn't satisfy me or after dinner. I am trying several options. I am not losing but then again I am not gaining. Yesterday actually went better in that regard.
Last week I have been working at getting more organized and making a list of things and doing most of them especially exercise. I set u a bullet journal for one. Today I did 2 good things. I made a weekly schedule to try and set up some routine. Also I got a text about how to help my Mom get supplies from my brother to me and my sister. He was suggesting we each take a week and rotate but my sister and I said no we are avoiding shopping so we will have to get what she needs when we order on line or when we go shopping. So I set up a shopping list on One Note (where I do my bullet journal-ing) for her like the one I have for myself (so I can meal plan for 4 weeks) and shared it with them. We all can edit it and when she requests something we add it on the lists and when we get it we take it off. I was happy that my brother realized that none of her requests were needs just wants and decided he needed to stay home this time. They are now on the list to get to her safely. She gets her meals delivered but turns down lunch since she prefers what we buy her. She will not starve or do without. Luckily no cases at this retirement community. She is getting more calls now from us because we know she is lonely. So far so good today on food.
Take care all.9 -
LOVE the comment about being a snack vs. eating all the snacks.
I am a little childlike in that I do like to do something amazing and then pull the cover back and, voila! and by chance I happen to have the ability to do that with weight loss and my mom. I haven't seen her in person since late February, and I have lost rather a bit more weight since then. I'd love to be able to be down thirty pounds or so by the time I can see her again.
I always give her a lemon meringue pie for her birthday, and so I will this year.... I'll make the pie, wrap it carefully for transport, drive it up to her, leave it on the porch, and text her and wait til she comes out and gets it. (I don't want her to let the dog out before she knows it's there!)
I've logged in a hundred days today, and it's really amazing how my body has responded to being sensible about my food intake. To celebrate, today Boyfriend and I are going to see how I fit in my corsets. If I can wear them comfortably, I may wear them more often; I have a lot of loose skin on my torso, and if that gentle all-over pressure can help that shrink down while I lose, I'm all for it.7 -
Age - 51
Height - 5'6
Heaviest weight - 105.5kg (Aug 2018)
Goal weight - 80kg
Current weight 96.5kg
April goals
Get under 94kg
Average total cals under 2000 - week 1 - 1961, yes!
Average snacks under 20% - week 1 - 31%, big fat no!
Yoga at home at least 3 times a week - week 1 - yes!
Oops I gained! Clearly too much snacking. I'm doing a lot less exercise, no swimming, and no jogging, just walking, and a lot less of that too, we are only allowed out to exercise once a day here, and seeing as I don't have a car, I used to walk everywhere, now there isn't an everywhere to go to!! So I need to be eating less.
One of the things I wanted to do this year was to reset my relationship with food, I'm never going to have a better chance to do this, no socialising, no work, doesn't matter if I have low energy, we are not supposed to be going to the supermarket more than necessary, I need to get some focus!!

I'd like to join this group, if that's okay. I am newly back to MFP and trying to gently ease back in to taking care of myself. Here is my general information:
41 years old
5'6"
SW: 340.3
CW: 278 (I've been up and down and all around over the last 9 years. My lowest was 172 from SW but they way I did it wasn't sustainable for me and I never really got to the root of the mental issues. I developed a binge eating disorder that took years to get past. I still struggle with emotional eating but am really focused on the mental aspect this time around and also to help alleviate some of the pain I have developed since being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 2 years ago. My why is so drastically different now.
April goal weight: <270
UGW: 160ish
GOALS:
💮Stick to my eating plan. Practice mindful eating and patience with myself.
💮Focus on moving every day - even if that means no formal exercise sometimes. Goal is to close my move ring each day.10 -
@aquariansmb .Welcome! I'm newly back as well so understand the easing back-in part.
Stay strong!! Have a great day.
