I got a gym workout in today at work.
My work gym sucks honestly but it has a treadmill, a squat rack and a bench press with a couple plates so it's still possible to get some strength work in. It felt good to use my muscles again after a few weeks of not being able to. Though it felt weird to be at work on Sunday.
Went for half an hour then hosed everything down and left. Can't get sanitizer for anything but I'm allowed to write off as much isopropyl alcohol as I need out of stock. It's nice that we have that option.10 -

Welcome to new members.
@legion150 congratulations , love those goals
@Tarzan I guess there is a pizzademic I had pizza last night. I didn’t lose but didn’t gain.
@jaedamvinson I am sorry that you lost your father and marriage recently. You are right to concentrate on being kind to yourself and taking care of yourself.
@AlexandraFindsHerself Yay! 25 lbs is great!
@mmccloy12 you are doing well to exercised regularly.
@torihudson I was in a funk on Saturday too. Or maybe Saturday is going to be my day to not have big to do’s. It is such a different mind set. I always made sure that I didn’t have more food than what I needed. But now I have to have a months worth of food around.
@cesse47 I am sorry about your loss at such a difficult time. I am glad you joined MFP and found us. Sounds like you have a great plan. It is really a plus that you had a good physical and now you are addressing the one thing you need to.
@speyerj That is exciting!
@svm569 Your decision to get chickens makes much more sense than ours to get a pair of kittens right before the stay at home order. At least you got an egg from your decision.
@ineedachange185 Now you have nice memories . There is someone I read about who was training for a marathon before this pandemic hit so now he is training in his small back yard.
@mmdeveau I think making a list and doing 1 thing is a good idea during this time. Your health is more imortant than you house.

Hello I'm new to this group and new to this app. I would love to make some friends to help me through this.
I'm 23
SW 206
CW 206 just started.
GW 160.
This month of April I would love to be under 200. And start some good habits. With being in college and working full time it can be hard to get a workout in. So I really want to work on setting time aside to improve myself. Thanks!10 -
Coming on here is on my to do list everyday but yesterday I ignored that. I ignored getting exercise. I watched a movie on netflix which isn't usual for me. We got Papa Murphy's pizza. I eventually got the idea that I needed a break from what my father used to call doing something constructive. I logged my food and I think I was okay with water.
I have had some very small snacking problems lately either when lunch didn't satisfy me or after dinner. I am trying several options. I am not losing but then again I am not gaining. Yesterday actually went better in that regard.
Last week I have been working at getting more organized and making a list of things and doing most of them especially exercise. I set u a bullet journal for one. Today I did 2 good things. I made a weekly schedule to try and set up some routine. Also I got a text about how to help my Mom get supplies from my brother to me and my sister. He was suggesting we each take a week and rotate but my sister and I said no we are avoiding shopping so we will have to get what she needs when we order on line or when we go shopping. So I set up a shopping list on One Note (where I do my bullet journal-ing) for her like the one I have for myself (so I can meal plan for 4 weeks) and shared it with them. We all can edit it and when she requests something we add it on the lists and when we get it we take it off. I was happy that my brother realized that none of her requests were needs just wants and decided he needed to stay home this time. They are now on the list to get to her safely. She gets her meals delivered but turns down lunch since she prefers what we buy her. She will not starve or do without. Luckily no cases at this retirement community. She is getting more calls now from us because we know she is lonely. So far so good today on food.
Take care all.9 -
LOVE the comment about being a snack vs. eating all the snacks.
I am a little childlike in that I do like to do something amazing and then pull the cover back and, voila! and by chance I happen to have the ability to do that with weight loss and my mom. I haven't seen her in person since late February, and I have lost rather a bit more weight since then. I'd love to be able to be down thirty pounds or so by the time I can see her again.
I always give her a lemon meringue pie for her birthday, and so I will this year.... I'll make the pie, wrap it carefully for transport, drive it up to her, leave it on the porch, and text her and wait til she comes out and gets it. (I don't want her to let the dog out before she knows it's there!)
I've logged in a hundred days today, and it's really amazing how my body has responded to being sensible about my food intake. To celebrate, today Boyfriend and I are going to see how I fit in my corsets. If I can wear them comfortably, I may wear them more often; I have a lot of loose skin on my torso, and if that gentle all-over pressure can help that shrink down while I lose, I'm all for it.7 -
Age - 51
Height - 5'6
Heaviest weight - 105.5kg (Aug 2018)
Goal weight - 80kg
Current weight 96.5kg
April goals
Get under 94kg
Average total cals under 2000 - week 1 - 1961, yes!
Average snacks under 20% - week 1 - 31%, big fat no!
Yoga at home at least 3 times a week - week 1 - yes!
Oops I gained! Clearly too much snacking. I'm doing a lot less exercise, no swimming, and no jogging, just walking, and a lot less of that too, we are only allowed out to exercise once a day here, and seeing as I don't have a car, I used to walk everywhere, now there isn't an everywhere to go to!! So I need to be eating less.
One of the things I wanted to do this year was to reset my relationship with food, I'm never going to have a better chance to do this, no socialising, no work, doesn't matter if I have low energy, we are not supposed to be going to the supermarket more than necessary, I need to get some focus!!

I'd like to join this group, if that's okay. I am newly back to MFP and trying to gently ease back in to taking care of myself. Here is my general information:
41 years old
5'6"
SW: 340.3
CW: 278 (I've been up and down and all around over the last 9 years. My lowest was 172 from SW but they way I did it wasn't sustainable for me and I never really got to the root of the mental issues. I developed a binge eating disorder that took years to get past. I still struggle with emotional eating but am really focused on the mental aspect this time around and also to help alleviate some of the pain I have developed since being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 2 years ago. My why is so drastically different now.
April goal weight: <270
UGW: 160ish
GOALS:
💮Stick to my eating plan. Practice mindful eating and patience with myself.
💮Focus on moving every day - even if that means no formal exercise sometimes. Goal is to close my move ring each day.10 -
@aquariansmb .Welcome! I'm newly back as well so understand the easing back-in part.
Stay strong!! Have a great day.

@aquariansmb: Welcome to the group! You are not the only fibro sufferer here; I've lived with it for about 20 years and found things that help me. Before I got to MFP, I quit sodas, cut back heavily on nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant) and drank tons of water and had started yoga and some very slow, careful weight work. I never did do sugar or high-carb meals well, so that was never a problem to leave behind. But everyone with fibro is different, and if any of what I say helps, great, and if not, well, you didn't lose any money on it. (grin)
@skierxjes: I had to train myself to put my glasses on when I get out of bed. I get out of bed, take care of nature's call, strip off the bike shorts and tank I sleep in right there while seated, and then stand up and step on the scale, which is right there. I weigh every day because weighing so much makes any individual weigh-in less fraught, but that's my own weird psychology.
@orangequilt: Prelogging helped me a lot. I prelog my main meals and my defined, known snacks the night before. (I've learned to have about 125 calories before bed so I don't run out of calories before I fall asleep.) Then if I do a lot that day, I can log the exercise later and, if I need some of the exercise calories, I can have them. If I've had a day where I did a lot of walking and lifting (we're paused in the middle of staging the house to sell it and move) then I know I won't make it to dinner without an afternoon snack, and I eat one, because I know what I can have that's about 125-150 calories so that I can still eat my dinner but I'm not ready to chew my arm off either.
It also helped that I recast changing my meal plans as a nurturing act to myself. I don't LIKE eating too much. It has always made me feel heavy and logy and generally not very good. Doing this makes me hurt less, makes me feel better about myself, and makes me feel more...like the person I want to be.
And, of course, I have a terribly petty motivation to stay on track. Petty it may be, but it works nicely.

Thank you for all the feedback everyone. I upped my water intake today and was already able to tell a difference in my hunger levels.
@cesse47. welcome! Thank you for sharing, that sounds unimaginably difficult, I'm so sorry. We're all here for you.
@speyerj, you're doing amazing! You inspire me.
@svm569, that sounds like a busy weekend! I also have terrible water retention around my TOM, too.
@changeforeverlj, thank you! She definitely gets the heart rate up. I'll be honest, I'm a little tired of the repetitive exercises already. I'm considering beachbody on demand, but I haven't decided. And great loss!
@ineedachange185, welcome!
@mmdeveau, yes, I am a little bored of it already. I'm trying to find something that keeps my attention and that I actually enjoy doing. It's a little discouraging, honestly. Great work with your goals! Even in these times of stress, you're doing amazing.
@Terytha, nice work!
@KeriA, same. I think it's just having SO much food around, I want it all. You sound so organized, I'm sure that helps with the stress levels.
@BrieMagee, welcome! Please feel free to add me if you'd like.
@orangequilt, I think I have gained, too, but these are definitely unique times. Our lives sort of changed overnight in a sense and we're having to find a new normal. I am working on eating less and only eating when I'm hungry, not bored. We can do this!!
@aquariansmb, welcome! I am also trying to practice mindful eating.

@AlexandraFindsHerself nice birthday plans for your Mom,
@orangequilt I am finding it takes a bit of work to adjust with things now too.
@aquariansmb it sounds like you have a better focus now.
Today I was trying out the weekly schedule I made. I didn’t stick to it strictly but it was helpful when I got that deer stuck in the headlights feeling of not knowing what to do next. I made pulled pork in the crock pot, I tried walking and running in my backyard. It is larger than I thought but it was also more uneven than is ideal. After that I walked a bit on our street and just couldn’t help running just a bit at the end. It felt good.
• I got a little exercise and got outside in the sun for most of it,
• I logged and stayed under my calorie goal (so far),
• Made sure I got enough sleep, and
• am working on the water.

Good morning everyone and thank you for the kind welcome. Yesterday I spent as much time as possible outside soaking in the sun before the rain moves in today. I went on two short walks around the neighborhood and while not exerting physically, they did wonders for me in every other way. Today the weather will be a wash out. I do have a bike and treadmill in the basement so really no excuse not to move in some capacity. Just need the motivation!
@KeriA That's great on the running! I started using a planner at the beginning of the year. Some weeks I do great, and some weeks not so much. I do like creating a daily check list for myself. It is rewarding to mark things off complete. My issue is I put too many things on at time
@torihudson6 Do you have any techniques that have worked for you? One thing I have started is I made a list in my bullet journal of "Foods to Think Hard About Before Eating". On that list are foods that don't make me feel great after eating them, whether it cause bloating, gas, indigestion, etc. I am also working on not eating meals at my desk. Even with the work at home situation I am in now, I have falling into that a couple times.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 I loved what you said about changing your thinking eating too much. I think having a strong why like that does help so much. I am using the same sort of talking to myself as well. In the past, it has been so different. Dieting and exercising to "fix" myself. While those methods worked, they never worked for long so trying to actually do things out of caring for myself instead of dislike and punishment.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!3 -
@jaedamvinson Hi, you have been through quite an upheaval, so well done on choosing to look after yourself! It's vital for your well being , even if you have a road bump just keep coming back!

Worrying about friends and family during this pandemic... husband is working from home so I have to cook three meals a day for him. He raids the frig and I stay away... in order to stay within my calorie goals. We tend to eat healthy overall but he his trying to do Keto diet (and he is losing weight) but I don't eat what he eats but I have to cook it for him. I hate the kitchen smelling like a smoke house from the bacon and eggs. I worry about his cholesterol, too... The good is we are walking our neighborhood daily 2.5-4 miles each day, and starting to try to do yoga together.

@mmdeveau -- Great loss to date; keep up the good work!! Love the new mantra.
@KeriA -- Thank you. I log every smidgen of snacks ... when I start looking again, I check my food
log to see if I can fit it in and if not, look for better choices, baby carrots, celery, etc.
I sure wish they'd come up with a calorie free chocolate bar!!
@BrieMagee -- Welcome! I have compromised lungs so can't do full workouts. When I talked to the doc
she said to "Chunk it" ... said if you can't do 50 minutes; do 5. Then later do 5 again, and again.
Maybe that would work for you as well.
@torihudson6 -- Thank you. Your kind words are appreciated.

April Goals
Log all food and beverages honestly
Drink at least 8 cups of water every day
Do two 5 minute walks; try for 3rd
Wear a mask anytime I have to go away from the house (groceries, dr)
Find one thing funny every day and share it
Stay in touch with family and friends on a frequent basis
Get outside every day weather permits
Yesterday was sweet. Temp was around 50 and it was sunny. So, took my rake and yard waste bin and did a small section of my yard. Then sat in lawnchair and enjoyed the fresh air and sun. Lots of neighbors on walks so said hi and waved to a few. No one really stops to chat but all are friendly. It was just nice to be out, see some people, get some smiles. Full isolation really sucks!!4 -

When my marriage of 25 years broke up, it was partly due to the fact that he would not let me focus on myself at all or take care of myself in ways other than, you know, showering. My teeth are in terrible shape because there was no money for me to get cleanings but somehow always money for his hobbies. And he insisted I eat when he did, or he threw tantrums.
When I left him, I wanted to start taking care of myself. Part of that very naturally came to figuring out a new way to eat, because I was really starting over in so many ways.
