These came up in my news feed along with pictures of several others like them.
Beautiful!! For decades, I've dreamed of having a stone and wood bathroom. Oh well ... one day maybe.

Our little very local area has had 2 deaths and Central Hove has had 1. I have no idea if that includes care homes, because we have loads of them around here, so it seems unlikely.
Brighton and Hove had no new confirmed cases from yesterday, but there were 4 new ones the day before.
I am having a temporary blip in mood today, feeling sad for the first time in ages. The weather is grey, I haven't written for 3 days, and I'm beginning to experience envy again and FOMO. Quite a lot of circling thoughts. The lockdown suited me perfectly and now it is being 'tweaked' I am losing my high. I am also deeply saddened by the economic damage. Basically I know the answer for my own health is to do some writing, so that is what I will do. I can't save the world.
At some point I've got to take my DDIL'S present over. Rain expected.

Hi Karen.
I think the more accurate versions are the per capita stats which allow for more equal footing and show a different picture of how each country is managing this pandemic. These statistics are also published by Johns Hopkins.

What do you think you're missing out on?
The one thing I wish is that I could quickly and successfully finish my course so that I could have a few days of relaxation. But that won't happen till June. So I'm hoping we're still in shut down till then.
The last couple months have been so incredibly busy!!

Happy Mother's Day!
It has been almost four years since my mom died. There were so many lessons she taught me. I am so thankful she instilled in me everything she thought she was not. She always told me how much she loved me and I was beautiful, strong, and smart. She raised me to be an independent woman. Many of the lessons I was taught took me quite some time to to fully comprehend and instill in to my understanding of the world.
Being raised as a very strong person, and by personality highly opinionated, she would tell me, "Suzi, you must remember there are shades of grey, not everything is black and white.". This is one of the constants that runs through my head when people act in questionable ways to me. The snarky person in line in front of you may have just lost a parent, the person who is always smiling and joking may be depressed, the person who sits quietly may actually have something important to say but is not comfortable speaking out loud, and between the black and the white many times that is where the truth stands.
I miss my mom. TG when I am quiet I can still hear her voice telling me she loves me.8 -
SuziQ - Sent that one to my daughter, with a kindergartener, a 4th grader and an infant at home. Not that I think she would, but Lord, that's funny.
Bless her sweet heart! I hope she has support at home!
Very early on with our new normal I kept saying over and over again....TG I am not a mother with youngish children at home.1 -
Machka - I love the look of the stone and wood bathrooms but get chilled thinking of how cold those bathrooms would be in the middle of winter!1

Did 600 words and feel much better.
I was writing about the Mothering Sunday and Easter celebrations when I was a young teenager. I was very religious then - a Sunday School teacher and I wanted to be a missionary. I was also madly in love with the young deacon of the church I attended. Can you believe the whole Sunday School went out picking primroses to be blessed in church for Mothering Sunday? Nowadays picking wild flowers is very much frowned on. We must have gleaned thousands!
I lost my faith sometime in the following year or so, but I can't remember exactly how.
Now for lunch - walnut bread and blue cheese, lettuce, cucumber.

I dislike when links disappear from MFP convos......here it is again. But of course we have to remember testing ratios too, but then we are getting in to a whole other layer..... https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality
Poor Kermit looking out the rainy day window. I laughed out loud when I came across it on FB.
Mom was and still is special. I am so thankful our last conversation was filled with love and I expressed my gratitude to her. She had stated to me she did not know how I turned out the way that I did and I told her it was because I had a great mother. I am very fortunate to have put everything in balance well before the end of her life and was able to speak our truths. I realize many do not have the insight to be able to come to terms with the "grey".

Last day of strict confinement here in Paris France: (1 h out per day for exercise, 1x per day, 1 km radius maximum from home, most shops and businesses other than pharmacies, groceries and take away foods obligatorily closed.) It's been a rough couple of months. Bookshops and florists and clothes shops will open up Monday, with social distancing of course.
Statistics: 86% of French in couples would prefer to be confined with same person.
Statistics: 57% of French gained weight: an average of 2.5 kilos.
Statistics: 29% lost weight
Statistics: 42% spend more time on food prep
Poll of 3000 people in late April from recognized polling institution.
A friend posted on Facebook. "I had 5 kilos to lose at the beginning of confinement. Only 7 kilos left."4 -
RV Rita > Lovely pics! I just love the cactus. I have a couple in my house but not as nice as those
Rebecca > I have a friend who is a sailor and he has been stuck at sea for 6months now, he was only supposed to be there for 4 months and the home to Romania with his family but because of the virus there has been no flights so he can't go home either. Must be so hard for them being stuck out there! He said he will have to go into quartine when he does get home for a couple weeks!
On a lighter note, great job on your Ib a day!! wow that is amazing Keep up the great work x
Beth > Thank you very much for that I was wondering why it was being done I wll check out that link later on just for some more information! Do you still have to cook for other people while you are fasting? That would be something that would be very hard for me. If I were to do that, cooking for my husband and daughter while I was fasting would probably drive me nuts..lol
Thank you so much for the compliments on my photos I am a photographer, although I have not been doing very much of it as of late! My camera and equipment are very heavy and with my other knee needing a replacment it is hard to carry me, never mind the camera
Katla > I bet there will be a ton of cars!! It will definitly be a graduation to remember. I think 2020 is a year we will all remember! I have seen birthday celebrations doing the same thing on facebook.. it seemed very nice
Annie > I have looked at that post also.. it is amazing!! Good luck on your goals and the meeting of your new gentleman friend
Karen > Sounds like you have had a productive day I have never had a frozen grape! will have to give it a try I also laughed out loud at you shaving you and your wife's neck and sideburns.. LOL @ the chin whiskers.. I know that feeling
Machka > Oh wow I love those pics!! How amazing would that be.. all that stone
Heather UK> Hope your mood increases and you are able to do some writing. It is super lousy today being so dark and gloomy. That weather always makes me feel like crap also.
SuziQ > Your post about your mother just brought me to tears! She sounds like she was such a wonderful woman and loved you very much. She raised you to be strong and I am sure she looks down on you today and is very proud. Her explaining to you about there being shades of grey just made me really stop and think. She is absolutely right and it is something I will now think about before I say something. So basically, I think it is pretty cool that your mom just gave me something to think about and I have never met her. (((hugs to you)))
Happy Mothers Day to all those that celebrate it today xo

Machka - I love the look of the stone and wood bathrooms but get chilled thinking of how cold those bathrooms would be in the middle of winter!
I guess I've used cold bathrooms for the last 11 years, so that part doesn't really concern me. Better than a hot bathroom! The idea is to sink into a sizzling hot bath surrounded by chilly air.
But if you wanted warmth you could install under floor heating or heat lamps or something. My current bathroom has a heater above the sink mirror to take the chill off on cold mornings. If it were our own place, I'd replace that with a light and see about installing heat lamps. But we rent, so it is what it is.

Happy Mother's Day to all who are mothers, and those who have or had one...
My mother's been gone 20 years now, 21 in July. It was a long, dark tunnel, trying to find something that resembled normal after her death. I realized years after that when the person who shielded you from your abuser dies and the abuser is still alive, your world becomes very scary again, even though you're 39 years old and long out of the situation. Her death brought stark, stabbing grief, but also brought with it all the old fears.
I stumbled through the world for a number of years, feeling like a four-cornered table with only three legs left. I looked fine, and was unless you pressed the right spot over that missing piece, and I would fall apart. I will still very occasionally think, "Oh, I need to call Mama," when I have a question about something. There was no week while she was still alive that I didn't come up with something to ask her or tell her or share with her. Missing her this morning. Can you tell? This is my favorite picture of her, taken in 1954, three years before she married my father, and six years before I was born:

Tonya - Your photos are wonderful. I love the rats! You have done so well with your weight loss.
I don't think I am going to walk over to my son's house. Too damp and miserable. I will tell my DDIL they have arrived and that I will bring them over in a day or so.
I'm expecting a couple of camisoles from Amazon today. Dark blue and light blue. I wear them instead of a bra. I am very broad backed and feel I am being crushed when I wear a bra. I do have a couple of soft ones for when it's absolutely necessary.
My old camisoles are in holes.
Duck legs tonight. I have some lovely organic cavalo nero to have with it.

Tonya - thank you so much for the second photo. With your permission, I would like to try to create a painting from each of them. It will probably be a trainwreck, but I genuinely love the gradations of color, the shapes, all of it. Still learning to paint.
SuziQ - your mother sounds wonderful.
Heather - glad that writing turned your day around!
Yesterday, I trimmed trees for hours, while Corey mowed until the engine on the new (to us) zero-turn mower's engine commited hara kari (literally). Something broke off inside and the piece that was broken off was thrown straight through the starter engine and the metal shell that encases it. Was totally expected - this thing is 14 years old, as near as we can figure, and hadn't been run in years when we got it. We had already decided that if he could find an engine for under $1,000 that is in good shape, we'd buy it. Will still only put us $1,200 into a mower that's worth $4,000 and up. We got three good mows out of it, and he'll get it fixed. The man can fix anything. Getting him to actually do so can sometimes be a whole 'nother question, but he CAN.
A story about the hazards of owning property in a lawless section of the country, and why we will be getting a new fence:Our crackhead neighbors who were renting the little house between us and the road moved out. Talked to the owners, offering to buy the place, and they can't sell as it's apparently the collateral for a family member's nursing home bill. There's something so horribly wrong about having to put up property as surety for someone else's nursing care bills. Nonetheless, they can't sell it.
So we decided we will go ahead and put up the privacy fence that we've been thinking about ever since we bought the place. The recently departed neighbors would spin out on the part of our lawn that was close to their house, their pit bull would come over and defecate on it, they dumped piles of building materials on it, like bricks (which they left behind) and there were many more transgressions that were terribly petty, but annoying. I'll be calling a local fencing company - Corey and I just don't have the time to do it, and some things are worth paying for.
The reason, by the way, that they keep getting crackheads as renters is because they don't charge a security deposit, and only charge $400 a month for a house that is essentially falling down, with mounds of trash everywhere on the property, most of it half-burned. They tell the renters that they will do no maintenance or repairs on it. Totally illegal? Sure. Am also sure the owners are not declaring the rent money as income, but I know they need the rent money to pay their own bills, so not willing to rat them out to the taxman. Anyway, the only people who would even want to rent it are the desperate, damaged and broken people that don't have enough cash even for a security deposit.
We knew the hazards to moving into a small town with no codes and no laws against well, pretty much anything, as we prefer to not have to ask permission to make changes to our own property. The crackhead neighbors are the price we pay. But with a fence up, at least we won't have to look at that desperately nasty little house and the next set of sketchy characters who choose to take up residence text.
Please note - I grew up extremely poor, but we were clean and the yard and house were always well kept because my mother made sure of it. There is a difference between poor people and trashy people. It is just vaguely possible we'll get some lovely neighbors who are not crackheads, just poor. The chances are slim.
Hope your Sunday is lovely and peaceful,
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

To All Of You Dear Ladies Who Are Moms:
Missing all of you! I have gotten far behind as I got a new laptop and was setting things up. It's just too hard to read my phone anymore as my eyesight deteriorates. I have been taking care of dear grandbaby and watching over my ailing doggy. I've missed reading your posts every day! I hope to catch up, but if I don't make it...Welcome to the Newbies, LOL to all the funnies, Awww to the wonderful pictures, and many prayers for all who are sick or having a tough time during quarantine. Things are opening up here, but I will continue to self quarantine as I believe things are going to get worse before they get better. Just my personal opinion...no worries if you feel differently! We lost our first family member...My daughter in law's (Baby's Mommy) Papaw to the virus. Very sad news.
Mother's Day is a tough one for me...this one is tougher since I won't see any of my children. Momma died when I was 26 and no matter how hard I try to get beyond it, it gets harder, not easier with time. I need her so often, but she is out of reach. What I wouldn't do to be able to place calls to heaven!! I love her so much!
The three wonderful humans who made me a Mother:
Hope everyone has a Wonderful and Blessed Mother's Day! Non-contagious hugs to all!! Luci in WNC8 -

Heather I'm sorry and feeling frustrated for you that you are dysphoric after such a good period of time. I don't exactly have FOMO, but something akin…it has to do with a belief system that is full of lies about whether and how I will be capable of dealing with the clutter and the stuff and the legal updates to be ready to be old...before I'm too old to do it well. I'm afraid of being old and still obsessed with going through belongings and papers, etc when I should be enjoying my dotage.

I have enjoyed the more leisurely pace of not having to be anywhere and it will be a big jolt when I have to schedule my mornings to get to dance and exercise classes by 9:00. Today a friend is coming over to walk with me at 9:30 and I'll be ready to walk with her only because this will be my one day of the week that I don't take a shower in the morning. Yesterday I didn't get ready to get outside to work in the yard until 10:30 and Jake was surprised that I was going out since we like to have lunch at 11:00. I get up at 5:00 every morning but have found more things to fill my morning.
Happy Mother's Day to all. I predict that neither of my step-children will be contact me and I don't mind, because I have a lovely day planned including my favorite chicken with peanut/ coconut sauce for lunch followed by watching another episode of "Bosch" on Amazon.
My mother was great. I remember many of the great things, sense of humor, thrift, meticulous record keeping, love of dance, cooking-- and have forgotten all the things that drove me crazy.

Anxious about going back to normal? It's called 'reverse culture shock'
https://www.abc.net.au/triplej/programs/hack/coronavirus-covid-19-restrictions-easing-reverse-culture-shock/12221534
I really don't want to "go back to normal" ... that would be incredibly disappointing. There are hints that there might be some improvements, but I guess there's a chance that we might "go back to normal".
However, happily, I think we've still got at least another month of this fabulous time of shut down ... to some extent or another. And then there's the "second wave" for all the people who go rushing out into society and start mingling and hugging etc. Personally, I plan to take a very conservative, reserved approach to easing back into society.
It helps, I think, that I've got surgery booked for mid-July. Just when things are opening up a little, I will be shutting down for a couple weeks.
On that note, I had two packages delivered today. I ordered pyjamas, just because, and a knee-length, long-sleeved button up flannel night shirt. I've been advised that I shouldn't plan to wear anything that goes over my head after my surgery, so now I've got a collection of button-up night shirts. I wasn't sure if I would like them with collars and buttons and all, but they're actually not bad. I decided to get this flannel one because July is right in the middle of winter and it doubles very nicely as a light dressing gown ... which is exactly how I'm wearing it right now.
I also ordered some cat toys which Rhody is playing with right now. He's so cute and clever!

My mother and me in 2011 ... we don't actually have a lot of photos of us together. When I saw her last in 2017, she hadn't changed much from this photo and when I see her on Skype, she looks much the same to me now as well.
One of the main things I would like to do in 2021 is travel to Canada to see my parents again.
