Heather: I have lost family members and one dear friend from my teaching days. I suspect that your feelings about Ross are those of people who choose to be one another’s family. It would be great to meet in person with your group of friends, but WhatsApp seems like it will be the best plan. I wonder whether snogging is similar to making out—kissing, touching, petting . . .
Amber: Congrats on your new weight!!!
Rebecca: Your foods and containers are so appealing! Thanks for the photos.
Pip: Thank you for the encouraging comment. So happy I didn’t offend you.
Today is overcast and there are no fishermen in sight. Fishing opens some days and not others, so I guess this is a no fishing day. I hope loads of fish go upstream to spawn so that the fishing run will be good in years to come. This is the spring fishing season. Later there will be a fall fishing season if enough fish migrate upriver.

Kinda doubt u could ever offend me lolol2 -
Carol: I am not fond of scammers, to make a huge understatement. I’m sorry that someone is attempting a fraud scheme against you. :grumble:
Lisa: I love today’s painting. It is beautiful!
Today I went walking on the dock and discovered a nasty weed in a boat slip we own but are not actively using. I spent better than an hour getting that weed pried away from plumbing beside the dock. I was very pleased with myself for taking care of the problem without causing any damage to the plumbing.

Lisa love the painting.
Got my inside plants out to acclimate today. Cleaned up my fairy garden too. Did take pictures and a few of the apple trees. Really enjoying them.1 -
Did Amy Dixon’s Breathless Body to the Edge DVD. I already had this one on a download but the title with a LITTLE bit different. So this one went in the garbage. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Barry’s Bootcamp DVD.
Need to take my car for an oil change. It’s right next to Aldi so I might go there while I’m waiting for the car. Update: took the car and went to Aldi. They said it would be 3 hours! For an oil change??? What it is is they are trying to have as few people in the waiting room as possible. Actually, it wound up that it would have only been a few more minutes after I went to Aldi (didn’t get much, but I was there anyway) so I just sat in the waiting room. I was the only person there. Most times I am the only person.
Tonya – thanks for sharing. You are so talented!
Pretty cold here today. I have a sweater on. The other day I was in shorts. And it’s supposed to be in the upper 70’s low 80’s later this week. Weird weather.
Barbie – you sound like you’re happy with yourself for going out of your box. I’m proud of you.
Barbara – at the condo they have line dancing in the clubhouse. Or I should say that they HAD. Anyway, my understanding is that they are holding it now in the parking lot.
Shellseeker – welcome!
The part for the landscape border came in the mail today. If it’s decent weather tomorrow, we’ll probably start on that. If not, then the next day.
Did more work on the Christmas tree skirt for us. The friend I sent the blanket to got it.

Awww, Amber you were a little cutie!!!
Heather I think snogging might be the same as necking or petting.
Lisa - Golden Girls - love.
Margaret it would be fun to see the pictures you took.
Kelly I really really really hope you are OK. I wish I could remember where you live exactly. My spouse lived in Saginaw & Frankenmuth as a child, so she is quite worried about her old friends and classmates.
Pip don't tempt me into trying to offend you
My renewed effort to get the weight, exercise, and food balance I need to optimize my health and well-being is going well. Had a good last 3 days with logging, lots of walking, and a good show on the scale. Always encouraging to have that initial whoosh on the weight loss even if it's not sustainable. I feel better already, and I'm really enjoying the HealthyWeight challenges. Very motivating. I realize it's not for everybody, but I am feeling more encouraged than I have felt for a very long time. I've been much sadder than I actually realized. I think my new job has helped perk me up. I enjoy it, I'm getting good feedback after each shift and I feel energized afterwards.
I'm super tired from all the exercise, so am going to close my eyes. Maybe I'll sleep better.

@Machka9 That must be hard that he's missing some months of memory.
@Heather glad you liked the youtube chanel. He speaks really fast. I mainly only watch that as daily key covid news, so it saves me a lot of time and worry. He doesn't have a dramatic mood either, which is nice. And he doesn't seem very strongly political at present, to the point of blocking key facts. He seems to aim for apparent neutrality.
You are so great in languages!
I definitely wore more sneakers during the confinement period and just wore sweats to go for my daily exercise walk, and picked up some green plants. Previously I would have worn jeans for a walk. There is definitely has been an increase in joggers here since all gyms and many classes have been closed, so sweats seem to pass better for little local morning walks and popping in a shop.
I have sometimes put on very very light eyeliner for zoom or live meetings. No lipstick needed when using masks.
@Barbara wow what fun for line dancing w social distance.2 -
Long weekend here for most. Ascension Thursday. (40 days after Easter, the body of Jesus Christ is to have risen at this date) Friday is often an optional day off. People are really not very religious here on average, but they are committed to maintaining acquired holidays, remaining from when France had a much stronger, more active and pervasive Catholic sway.
I worked decently on application yesterday.
Home is finally clean after an intense cleaning session yesterday.
I was unable to get it totally clean and tidy during the strict confinement period.
There is still some paper sorting to be done.
We can't go more than 100 km from home. An acquaintance kept asking me to come share her place rented by the sea. She lives less than 100km from the sea but not me. 135 euro fine and possibly being sent back if checked and apparently they are checking a lot.
Anyway I have some work to do and it would be iffy to go away at present.2 -

Thanks Annie, back is feeling a little better, have my Aleve and icy hot on it, and I feel so much better today.
In fact I am (after 2 months) going to get my hair cut and roots died, I've got so much gray . Hey I'm 64, got to do this LOL
Have a great day

I am here! I am fine; and barring any monstrous water level rising on the west side of the state (which is where I am), I will be fine. If you see Michigan, it is two peninsulas surrounded by the Great Lakes. The lower peninsula is famously shaped like a mitten. I live on the west side of the mitten, just south of a resort town called Grand Haven. My neighborhood sits atop the dunes. Due to the rain, the downtown area of Grand Haven is experiencing some flooding due to high water levels. BUT nothing like what they have gotten in Midland County. That is on the east side of the state (near the thumb), and yes, Karen VA, near Saginaw/Frankenmuth. Two dams failed and the city of Midland is underwater. It is a shame. I am afraid much of Michigan's infrastructure (especially on the east side) is failing and in need of repair. Flint (location of the lead in the drinking water; a problem that still has not been fixed) is located not far from Midland County. Yes, there are many fundraising efforts going on across the state for the people in the affected areas. Due to the enmity between our governor and the president; not sure when/if federal aid will arrive.
Hugs to you all. Slow start from me this morning. Kids arriving! ttfn xoxoxo KJ8 -
Kelly Thank God. Thanks for posting that you are safe. We are edgy here because so many of my spouse's friends and family are in the "danger zone" near the Dow Dioxin site. Bad stuff. Ugh. So glad you and your kiddos are safe.

Morning Ladies
I got up early and am here for the duration of the weekend.. good heavens packing like i am going on vacation but just to have the comforts of home ,when away from home is always good..3 -
Kelly - glad you're ok! I was pretty sure i remembered you walking the kids down to the beach on one of the Great Lakes, and was sort of sure it was Lake Michigan, but just couldn't remember... Eastern Michigan has struggled for so many decades, this is just one more blow, and Southeast Michigan even more - I remember the incredible pollution levels in Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga River when I was quite young.
Below is the other piece I was working on - haven't signed it yet, as I'm not really sure I'm done yet. Still thinking about it.Both are nonrepresentational paintings of Tonya's beautiful photos. (The word "nonrepresentational" is weasel word for, "Yeah, I knew it wasn't going to look as much like it as I really wanted."
) My husband really liked this one, said it looked like an iced-over lake. So at least it looks like SOMEthing. Ha!
I really appreciate it when y'all say nice things, but please don't feel you must... I'm learning, I'm fine with that, and I've got lots of years to keep learning.
Later, y'all,
Love, Lisa8 -
Phew, KJ, glad you are ok, but thoughts going out for anyone suffering or in danger.
Bit of a morning kerfuffle! No writing got done.
I started off with a very happy run along the seafront. Went early to beat the crowds and the heat. Wonderful! Listened to The Star Spangled Banner on my Soul music podcast.
Came back to do a quick 25 mins row and then set about getting my savings money into my brand new savings account. I struggled along and found I couldn't do it all at once, even though I rang up the bank. I was all set to go in person to the bank, then decided to try a workaround. I have never used the cardreader I was given many years ago and wasn't even sure the battery still worked. Retrieved it from a dark drawer. It worked, though said Low Battery. I transferred some of the cash and can do the last batch after 18.30 tonight.
What a palaver. I ordered new batteries, but found we do have a couple if I need them tonight. I am such a technophobe that I have never used that easy bit of kit!
Then ordered a heartrate monitor my son has just requested for his birthday. I had already bought foodie items for him, but I am very happy to keep them myself!
Then read an email that DH'S former colleague sent today. He was a much younger teacher that DH befriended and mentored. They became fast friends and we mixed a lot when we both got married. He and his wife and children moved to Bogota in Colombia where her family is from. Now he has just got a new job setting up a new international language school in Amsterdam and they will all be moving back when times permit over the summer. We are delighted and it will give us a great excuse to visit one off our favourite cities! We have both been before we met, but never together.
They are those people that you don't see for a few years, but then pick up immediately as if you saw them yesterday.
So, no writing got done!
Going to cook fish chowder tonight, using smoked haddock. Starter is corn on the cob.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx6
