Barbie in SW Oregon, told my DH and both thought that would be lovely! As long as tree branches and wires are high enough to go under, we might just take you up on that!

Rebecca: I love Tillamook ice cream but I don’t buy it to bring home. I eat too much of it if it is here. We have/had a shop in town that sells ice cream by the cup or cone along with sandwiches, candy, and funny cards. It is currently closed to the public by order of the governor. I loved being able to buy one scoop and eat it with a spoon in the shop. If I by a carton of Tillamook ice cream at the store, I eat WAY too much so I had to quit buying ice-cream. I have a box of low fat fudgesicles and allow myself to have one once in a while. :ohwell:

Terri: I love it that you are a VE baby! My dad served in the US Navy in the Solomon Islands during WWII. He had nightmares about it for the balance of his life. :ohwell: I came along a few years after the war ended. :star:

Heather: I expect to be participating in a city meeting via Zoom next week. It will likely run on and on. I’ll be at home on my computer. We had one practice run, but I am not confident that I’ll be able to remember just what to do. :embarassed:

Karen: Your parents were a handsome couple and your mom was gorgeous. :flowerforyou:

Dr. Katie: I envy your access to a beauty salon. Ours are locked out by order of the governor. :ohwell:

Kim: Your wedding masks are delightful!!! :star:

Lanette: I planted purple pod beans yesterday. My chives and parsley take care of themselves in pots, and the blueberry bushes are budding. The other herbs I have in pots are alive but not flourishing so far. :ohwell:

Our school district figured out a nice graduation for the seniors this year. Families will drive to the County Courthouse and the graduate will sit in the car until it is their turn, then walk up the courthouse steps to receive their graduation certificate. A photo will be taken, and they’ll go back to their family’s car. They drive away and the next car has its turn. I hope they have a bright, sunshiney day.

    REOPENING BROOKINGS
    Brookings Osprey City Logo

On May 6, 2020, The City Council voted to partially open up Transient Lodging Facilities in Brookings at 50% capacity, effective Friday, May 8th. Lodging facilities must follow the CDC, OHA, and Best Management guidelines. These guidelines and other sector guidelines for Phase One can be found on the City’s website at: https://www.brookings.or.us/344/Reopening-Brookings.

May 7, 2020, Governor Kate Brown held a press conference on Oregon’s reopening plan where the newest version of “Reopening Oregon: Details on Restarting Public Life and Business” was discussed. You can find that document at: https://oracp.memberclicks.net/assets/2020/COVID-19Messages/2020-05-07-Reopening-Oregon-Details-on-Restarting-Public-Life-and-Business.pdf

City Parks’ restrooms and parking lots were reopened this week. Although parking lots are now open, specific areas of the park are still closed per Governor’s orders – playgrounds, pools, skate parks, and sports courts, and are signed appropriately. Restrooms are open at all city parks, except Easy Manor, as it remains closed since it is primarily a playground.

The news that the parks' bathrooms and parking lots are open again is welcome. The news that sports courts are not makes me wonder what the "appropriately" signed signs say...

Well videoing with my youngest son has done me a mental reset.💖. He wasn't able to hear us, and he able to see us, so after us looking at him for a spell and smiling doing hand signals, he had to turn the video part off. My middle son and I were still able to video chat, and then still listen to youngest in Japan. My youngest son, along with every sailor onboard his ship, have been in quarantine for 3 months now. They still go out to sea, and pull into ports but no one can disembark. It saves the ships crew from going into 2 week self isolation each and every port visit. When I am whining about not being able to go to our book store, I think of him stuck on his ship.💖
This week has been good weight wise. Losing a lb a day, with no real eggort, or denial. Maybe some grumbling in the middle of the night.💖

Tonya ... I'm sorry to take so long to answer your question regarding IF or intermittent fasting. I've been reading on my phone, but not responding. Today I'm on the laptop.

Anyways, several ladies on this site follow some form of intermittent fasting for several reasons ... weight loss, reduction of inflammatory diseases, managing insulin, autophagy, etc. Rebecca shared information from one proponent of fasting. I became interested after reading Dr. Bert Herring's book on the subject. His focus is appetite correction and simply eating within a 5 hour consecutive period each day, fasting the remaining hours. https://www.bertherring.com. This link has really good information. I initially chose to fast 19 hours and then eat within a 5 hour window, but have extended my fasts for both physical and spiritual reasons. I was stalled in weight loss and had actually put on weight after following strictly with MFP. I have since lost weight ... 26 pounds since starting over a year ago (1/2 pound a week is pretty good!! when there are no restrictions). Currently, I am just maintaining through this quarantine time ... more like damage control. Other benefits for me have included improved blood pressure, improved cholesterol and A1C levels, and reduced joint inflammation. I no longer have acid reflux. I sleep better than ever. We talk a lot in fasting circles about "autophagy .... the natural, regulated mechanism of the cell that removes unnecessary or dysfunctional components. It allows the orderly degradation and recycling of cellular components." The benefits are only beginning to be understood, but many respected medical organizations are noting that patients who practice fasting are doing well. In essence, our bodies need a break from dealing with glucose to do cellular repair work. My doctor encourages me to continue with my fasting because she loves my blood lab results!! I will continue with this lifestyle as it suits me. As Dr. Bert Herring says, it's a "study of one" ... and in my study of me it is working.

On another note ... your photos are outstanding! Thank you for sharing!

BeUncommon: I think the “drive through” graduation ceremony the school district has arranged is a great idea. It is likely to be a unique graduation that will be long remembered by the students, and their families. I envision a very LONG line of cars but I don’t actually know how many graduating seniors there are this year and the online information isn’t a bit helpful. What I do know is that the community seems happy about the celebration they have planned. I hope they have good weather. :star:

Barbara in Southern Oregon: Thanks for the link to the governor’s document. I looked it over but plan to do so more thoroughly. :flowerforyou:

Rebecca: I’m happy to hear that you’ve gotten information about your younger son in the navy.

I did my shopping at Safeway this morning and we’re back at home. DH waited in the car. I couldn't persuade him to come with me.

I went back and looked at before/after photos in the success stories. So motivating! Otherwise I forget what my extra pounds really look like. It reset my dedication to losing. Here's to keeping the goal in sight!

I have been texting a guy, and we will likely meet up in a few months when the virus is over. I want to be slim and strong by then!

SuziQ - Sent that one to my daughter, with a kindergartener, a 4th grader and an infant at home. :) Not that I think she would, but Lord, that's funny.

Did the YRG DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do Jeanette Jenkins Core Stretch

Amber – even if I buy the meat frozen, when I defrost it in the refrigerator I still leave it in the plastic bag.

M – that is the way I used to eat kiwi. But then I read that there’s more fiber in the skin. So I thought I’d give it a try. Not bad, no real taste. Like a plum…sometimes the skin can be bitter. But I didn’t find that with the kiwi.

Kim – what lovely masks! A friend of mine made a mask for me and she put a pipe cleaner at the nose so that you can get a better seal but can take it out when you wash it. Wonderful job!

Made more chocolate bran muffins now have banana bread in the oven. The recipe makes 2 loaves so I’ll freeze one. Depending on how much we go thru, I will probably give the second one to Steve. Or else I’ll make something else. Yup, that’s what I’ll do. But it will be banana something since I have all those bananas.

Vince went thru all the CD’s that Bryan had so it looks like I’ll be making another trip to the Salvation Army. At least this time my car won’t be totally packed.

Made a somewhat goof yesterday. I was mentioning to Lynette that I really didn’t feel that fast food places were essential. Then she reminded me that she really doesn’t cook. I tried to save myself by saying that most grocery stores sell things like rotisserie chickens, sandwiches, etc.

Those in GA – how’s the “opening” going?

Annie – I always liked a handmade card rather than a store-bought one

Krm – so glad you decided to come out from the woodwork. Come back often. I’m sorry about your losses

I did 40 reps instead of 30 for my dumbbell exercises tonight. Might be hard on my back but I did it! Yay!

Michele- I separate my meat because we normally buy in bulk .Then I separate it so I can grab a few pieces from time to time. If not we’d have to eat 10lbs fast lol 😆.

Looks like one of the effects of COVID-19 is a move to a regional lifestyle. If/when working from home becomes a more permanent thing, it will be very tempting for us to move further out from the city.

I'm thankful that California is taking it slow; I will be at a slow speed also; although I am out "alot" it is because I go to the camp farm (drive alone work alone) or to a gardening job also mostly alone... So I am alone just not at home. I feel lucky that personally I only know OF one member of extended family that has died; they are so far out on the extended that I did not know or even know of him until he passed. He was 98.
