Some lovely celebrations on here today! @Tramboman and @hamsterwheel6 happy anniversary! And happy mfp anniversary @katharmonic! A very inspiring story which is similar to my own, except I’m nowhere near the athlete you are!! Great determination @quilteryoyo I knew you could do it! And well done on the race @marisap2010. Sending healing thoughts to those of you sick or injured.
I had a terrible night’s sleep last night and wasn’t feeling great for long run day. Pushed through for 10K (6.2m) and gratefully called it quits!

SUNDAY UPDATE - Pastor Vincent vs Boston!
For those new/or with short memories I recently hired a coach to help me run faster - with the goal of a BQ in 2021. It is probably an unrealistic goal, but I am not getting any younger, so going for it. Several people asked to be updated on what the coach has in for me so I post each week what the coach's plan was, and what I actually did.
So here we go:
DAY :::: PLAN :::: ACTUAL
Monday :::: 5k race pace, 3mile cool down :::: Rest Day
Tuesday :::: Rest Day ::::: 10 miles
Wednesday :::: 8 miles :::: 10 miles
Thursday :::: 8 miles :::: Rest Day
Friday :::: Rest Day ::::: 10 miles
Saturday ::::: 14 miles :::: Glutened!
Sunday ::::: 6 miles ::::: 11.5 miles
Total Miles: 41.5 out of 36 planned
So this would have been the plan had I been back to full running schedule but have a minor injury that I am rehabbing. I think next week I will return to following the plan and see how things hold up. Coach has given me some strength exercises in addition to the running to help correct the cause of the injury so we will see how next week foes.
This would have been a cut back week (except Monday which was supposed to be a time trial) so it probably would have been the better week for the return to running, ah well.
I am annoyed I missed the 14 mile run cause I needed to know if I was recovered enough to push that far. Ah well, guess I will find out next week instead.8 -
This is from my coach, some good information on heat training for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere (for the rest of you, put this in the to read folder come spring folder lol)

Sorry I have not been around, busy times for many of us to make ends meet. Happy with my 12 months so far. Catch up when I can.

June Goal: 100 Miles
6/2: 6.55 miles
6/3: 7.06 miles
6/4: 6.72 miles
6/7: 10.07 miles
30.41/100 miles completed for June
593.62/1000 miles for Run the Year Team Pavement Pounders
I ran 10 miles this morning. It was a good run, but it was hot. 74°F feels like 75°F at the start and 81°F feels like 85°F at the end. And that was the coolest time of the day. I usually take Monday as a rest day, but I may switch and run tomorrow and take Tuesday as a rest day. It is supposed to be 71° at 6:00 am and on Tuesday it is supposed to 81° at 6:00 am. I still don't have my Garmin but the tracking says the replacement should be here on Tuesday. I didn't have my Garmin for the run, but I did get some Aftershokz Trekz headphones and I have to say so far I really like them.
Happy Anniversary @Tramboman!
Great transformation @TheMrWobbly!
2020 races:
11/7/20: Run for 57th AHC Half Marathon3 -
Now the tracking says my Garmin will be here tomorrow. So I can't decide if I want to run without my Garmin when it is less hot, or wait and run with it when it is hot. Definitely a first world problem. 😄4
-
My husband was playing around learning an ePub program so he made a little book about our winter trail race series, which ended in March.9

It’s stupid hot here too! Heat index 95 thirty minutes after sundown and it’s not supposed to drop below 76 all night. This is August weather, what the heck is going on here? At least even though we are still under curfew they have pushed it back to 11 pm now.
@TheMrWobbly Excellent! You look much less wobbly now!
@Tramboman Congrats on your anniversary!
@marisap2010 Congrats on the race and your MFP anniversary!3 -
Edit: double post0

Well done!2 -
@rheddmobile - I love the book! So cute! I also love that in almost every picture you have the cutest smile!
It is August weather here too which makes me wonder (actually said it to my husband earlier) what is July, August and September going to be like if it is this hot already!
@themrwobbly - Wow! great transformation in just a year! Congratulations.2 -

Well done! Amazing! You need a new name lol2 -
So first of all, a covid brag in the spoilerNZ is covid free!!
Well it's not completely official yet but we have gone 17 days without a new case, over 35 days since a community transmitted case, and our last active case - so person with active covid - has now been cleared, no longer has covid.
So unless there are people out there that aren't transmitting it and are asymptomatic, we have got rid of covid!
So as of midnight tonight we no longer need to worry about social distancing, no limits in shops, no limits to gatherings etc. Basically life is back to normal except we can't leave, or get back into the country
Personally, still not running, even though i really REALLY want to. Calf is feeling much much better, no pain or niggles when walking, all my stretching feels good. I'm being good, waiting till Thursday when I have my next PT appointment.
So I'm eating my sorrows and giving myself something else to do when I get running again 😜🙄8 -
Great transformation, @TheMrWobbly!
I love the book, @rheddmobile! When my friend and I did our first half years ago, she had a little book made kind of like that for us to remember how much we love/hate running.
That is exciting news, @Avidkeo! I don’t think things will ever get back to normal in the US. 😔2 -
5 miles yesterday to earn my RnR Virtual 8K badge.
I am a little behind on miles for my 23/week average for my Run Across Georgia. I got to 20.17 miles. Oh well, maybe I can catch up this week.4 -

So y'all remember how last month I sent my Plantronics Backbeat Fit headphones through the wash on the full wash cycle and they died? Then after searching around I finally found a pair of the old versions as refurbs on Groupon for $30ish USD (after learning that most people hated the new version)?
You WILL NEVER EVER GUESS WHAT I JUST DID... yes, I sent the new pair through the wash AND dry cycle.
BUT they still work. Flippen set went through the full 2 hour cycle with much of that underwater (it is that long due to the extended soak cycle I use to beat the old gym stink - cheaper than fancy sports detergents) and the gas dryer.
Listening to music on them as a test right now and so far so good.

looking good @TheMrWobbly
sorry, not going to be able to catch up today
no run this weekend but bf and i went for a hike. this weekend was stupid busy and had about 2 hours to myself. so at least the hike was nice (which was good because it was the week of my 4 year wedding anniversary)
i do wish we were similar runners.
he runs fast and for fitness. short distances and hates it
i run comfy and long distance. i usually like it. only hate it a few runs here and there.
scooby went to adopters friday. i hope it works out. i was planning on going for a run that day but what normally takes 20 min, took 3 hours trying to acclimate scooby and their dog. i think if they follow my advice and work with a trainer, it will be fine.
also got another foster dog. no info yet, her paperwork wasn't ready. daisy wanted down time. she liked me but wanted space from the dogs. she was slowly warming up last night8 -
@Tramboman Happy Anniversary. Great run, even if it was crazy. I feel sorry for the animals when they are pushed away by their mom's and left on their own.
@katharmonic Nice run. Hope you enjoyed your kayaking adventure.
@ABabilonia Yeah for a run that felt so good that you went further than planned. Sorry for the blister though.
@Faebert Yeah for pushing though and getting it done.
@PastorVincent I didn't realize you were injured. It looks like you did great. Hope you are fully recovered soon.
@TheMrWobbly Wow. Great transformation. You are doing great!
Glad you had a good run @kgirlhart . Hope you get your Garmin back tomorrow. I still need to order Aftershokz Trekz.
@rheddmobile Love the little book!

Spoke too soon... the buttons are sticking and clicking randomly. Ah well.3 -
Started C25K today and did my first 1.74 miles of June! 🏃♀️ 🎉9

Great news @Avidkeo on the CoVid win. Hope you're able to run again soon.
@PastorVincent That is amazing! Hope they continue to work. I think you need to put a note on your washing machine that says, "Do you know where your headphones are?"
Love the hiking pictures @mbaker566 and Happy Anniversary! Cute pup pictures. Hope all works out for Scooby.
Welcome to all of the newcomers.
