I’ve been gone for like two weeks, almost! So good to get away, but also good to get back home and to start reforming a schedule. I was shocked with a loss of about 1.5 pounds during our long camping trip, and this week I’m just hoping to maintain that... I have just been doing intermittent fasting and smaller portions instead of calorie counting. Seems to be working out okay. Planning to get back on track with lifting weights tomorrow, that makes my brain feel better if nothing else!2 -

Great news that you lost weight while camping, you must have gotten in extra calorie burning activity.
Smaller portions really works. IF works for some but not others. There is a good article here on MFP somewhere that I read that says that it works well for men but not women.
Finding what works for us individually and is sustainable long term is the key.
Tracking calories on MFP is a very easy habit to get into. I once stopped tracking (thinking that I knew approximately) and I gained 40 pounds, so a word of caution from someone who has been there done that.
It also gives a good sense of what is happening, where you can cut or add, where your nutrition numbers are. I learned that 2 tbsp of sour cream has much less calories than 2 tbsp of ranch dressing for instance.

Day 38 – 07 /16 …..210.1….. Going thru some life-altering things right now. Most of it surprising and unexpected on so many levels. I am not able to follow thru on everything I wanted to accomplish. The rest of this year will prove to be challenging in my time and efforts but I will hang in here, be inspired, and do what I can whenever I can. I know it won’t be 100%, there is honestly nothing I can do about that right now. But I will give it every percent I can, when I can. Thanks for your patience folks. Day 39 – 07 /17 …..210.0…..Dizzy with stress all day. I don’t mean the normal stresses we all must endure on the daily. This is the bad stuff but I am coping. Diet was off today pretty bad but I actually got in more deliberate movement. Changing what I can when I can, that is the best any of us can hope for. Tonight I am going to go for some “me” time.

Day 50 – 07 /28 …..209.8….. I am pretty sure they are going to put my loving cat to sleep today. I am a wreck. Weight drop on the scale because I can’t eat right now. Vet appointment at 3:00 .
Day 51 – 07/29 …..208.1….. She was put down at 3:30. Obviously couldn’t eat yesterday. They say time heals all wounds and I know it will get better. I’ve been down this road before. Right now, however, it feels like it will never get any easier.
Day 52 – 07/30…..209.2….. Thanks ladies for you comforting words. I am going to try to focus more on my quality of eating in the coming days. My quantities are okay, it’s the choices I am making. Goal: To get back on track asap although there is still so much going on in my life that I cannot control right now. The coming months will continue to be dreadful but I will do what I can, when I can. Every choices counts.

Day 39 – 07 /17 …..210.0…..Dizzy with stress all day. I don’t mean the normal stresses we all must endure on the daily. This is the bad stuff but I am coping. Diet was off today pretty bad but I actually got in more deliberate movement. Changing what I can when I can, that is the best any of us can hope for. Tonight I am going to go for some “me” time.

Goal: To get back on track asap although there is still so much going on in my life that I cannot control right now. Day 51 – 07/29 …..208.1….. She was put down at 3:30. Obviously couldn’t eat yesterday. They say time heals all wounds and I know it will get better. I’ve been down this road before. Right now, however, it feels like it will never get any easier.
Day 52 – 07/30…..209.2….. Thanks ladies for you comforting words. I am going to try to focus more on my quality of eating in the coming days. My quantities are okay, it’s the choices I am making. Goal: To get back on track asap although there is still so much going on in my life that I cannot control right now. The coming months will continue to be dreadful but I will do what I can, when I can. Every choices counts.

Day 5: Sat, 6/13: 153.2 - Well, it comes off much slower than it goes on as we know! In the green always even if small, but to lose I need at least 500 calories per day in the green. 104 Calories left over

Day 18: Fri, 6/26: 150.1 - Good. Still a slight chance at hitting the weekly goal weight, but that is 1/2 a pound which normally takes me 2 weeks to lose. We'll see tomorrow. 1531 calories left over

Excess calories burned in June: 25,437, but this includes the entire month and we started this round on the 6th. 7.267 pounds mathematically that I should have lost for the entire month. (3500 calories equals a pound)
The number not counting the 1st to the 5th is 21,658. 6.188 pounds mathematically I should have lost in 24 days.
Weight Loss in June - 3.1 pounds - so much better than my usual 1 pound loss per month.

I have been reading about eating for body type - ectomorph, endomorph, mesomorph. Interesting.
We all have to approach it as individuals, that is why tracking is so imperative - we see what is working for us and what is not.
We also have to take into account any health issues - for diabetics keeping blood sugar stable requires eating small amounts frequently and keeping carbs and fats low.
For myself, I basically eat everything, but I have cut portions in half. I still believe in calories in calories out.
Great @syreina for getting that much protein into you! Whenever I try that my fats skyrocket. Very glad that you are continuing to track and check-in, essential to not gaining it back.

Great news that you lost weight while camping, you must have gotten in extra calorie burning activity.
Smaller portions really works. IF works for some but not others. There is a good article here on MFP somewhere that I read that says that it works well for men but not women.
Finding what works for us individually and is sustainable long term is the key.
Tracking calories on MFP is a very easy habit to get into. I once stopped tracking (thinking that I knew approximately) and I gained 40 pounds, so a word of caution from someone who has been there done that.
It also gives a good sense of what is happening, where you can cut or add, where your nutrition numbers are. I learned that 2 tbsp of sour cream has much less calories than 2 tbsp of ranch dressing for instance.

Oh, yes, I absolutely agree! I was tracking this spring and through June, but once camping season started I found it easier to do IF and watch portions. We are done camping now (except maybe one more weekend in September), so now I can get back into the habit. I feel like IF is working out okay for me, however I know that tracking provides quicker results!
It’s taken me until today to get back to calorie counting... I do not aim for perfection, and even when in the habit, I tend to take one “off” day a week to prevent burnout. I have over 100 pounds to lose and am aiming for only 20lbs a year, so I need to find ways to make it sustainable. I’m in this for the (really) long haul lol. Not tracking while camping and taking ‘diet breaks’ seem to be helping a lot.
I lost a lot of weight using MFP before...but I was so strict and ended up burning out, then gained most of it back. I had to take a step back and quit diet culture and heal my disordered eating, among other things. Now IF just means I skip breakfast most days. It mostly just helps me keep from gaining weight when I’m taking a break from tracking. Losing while camping this year was a pleasant surprise... the higher activity definitely contributed!1 -

It's been a LOOOONG TIME since I've been in the 150s, so that's what I'm currently striving for!
