Allie - Most of your family is probably saying, "Cool, now we'll have family to visit on an island!" Seriously, I saw more people I loved during the four years I lived in Las Vegas than any other time in my adult life combined.4

RV Rita--I for one enjoyed the pictures of you and the natives.
Pip--Sounds like things are lining up for your next adventure. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
Allie--You have lots of choices and am excited for you.
Weigh in this morning was not good, but weather is so HOT and I am not dealing well with it. Been working so many hours am beat when I get home. Today I did set the alarm on my phone for every 2 hours and going for as walk around the circle of offices. About a 2-3 minute walk, but a start.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE4 -
Rita- I fell over laughing at it.Seen folks roll regular Tobacco the same way. Plus explains why they visit earth 🌍 lol 😝.
New EPA updates list of cleaners that work on COVID-19 to SARS 😷 https://www.epa.gov/pesticide-registration/list-n-disinfectants-use-against-sars-cov-2-covid-19
Can type epa code on bottle to search faster.
Lysol ,bleach,y scrub y bubbles made it but not sure if all of their products did or didn’t check to be sure. Can add bleach or Lysol cleaner to some other types if necessary if it doesn’t have a don’t add bleach warning ⚠️ can call manufacturers to be double triple sure. Some Vegan ones made it too!

Welcome Melissa Where are you based?
Your plan sounds doable, but the disease sounds awful. So sorry. I took up running very late in life, so I know how you must miss it. Is swimming possible where you are?
Went for my 5k along the sea front. Breezy, but nice and cool. It went well, despite the broken night. We stopped at the deli on the way home and bought lots of vegetables for vegetarian dishes. We always enjoy a chat with the Palestinian owner.
Can't see the grandkids until next week. They are seeing friends and family. My fault for not booking up. I hope for next Thursday maybe. Or later. It has to be nice weather as I'm still not happy going indoors. The other grandparents don't mind. Can't even Zoom they are so busy. I know my ex wants a look in too as he is in London at the moment. Oh well.
Cooked my new favourite thing - wholemeal spelt spaghetti. Love it. I concocted a delicious topping of artichokes, fava beans, peas, scallions, chilli and garlic with sautéed prawns and stirred in pesto and creme fraiche. Wow!
DH in the other room watching his soccer team. They are very near to the drop zone. Tense.
Lots of love to you all

Waiting on a call to say the people will be here to deliver the freezer within the half hour after the call. Which makes it hard to get stuck into anything else, so I'll use the excuse to read.
Ah, who am I kidding - any appointment, any time, does this to me--sort of a perpetual "person from Porlock" reaction on my part. I'm truly a hermit these days, with a few joyous exceptions.
Been feeling like ca-ca for days, only exercised once since Saturday, and this morning early, I started breaking a sweat just walking from one room to another, literally soaking my hair I was sweating so hard. To the point where I contemplated calling the VA office for an appointment or blood tests. Felt truly horrible... and then about 10 a.m., I started feeling like myself again. Energy was back, no sweating, no problems. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Still don't know what was up with that, but glad to be on this side of it!
Off to my book. Got stuck into the "Sister Jane" cycle from Rita Mae Brown, which if you love horses, dogs and foxes, they get their own voices through some seriously captivating mysteries. I'm up to book 7, and I'm not sure the electronic library has any past this one. I might swap over to her cat mysteries, the Sneaky Pie Brown series, if I must.
Oh - and while I've been feeling like ca-ca, the appetite is also diminished, for which I am duly grateful.
Oh! and Heather, I found PG Tips Pyramids for a vaguely reasonable price on Amazon and ordered them. Looking forward to that!
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

Thank you, thank you - am new to this page. I will say...love the pictures of all the kiddos and the inspiration being shared. So long short of it, I'm back at it AGAIN. So unhappy with myself at the moment and all of the weight I have gained over the past several years due to a severe ankle break. I just go to get out of the mind set of the past and look forward to the future for healthier eating and more exercising. NO excuses!
Thanks all!!10 -
Just got back from an hour long walk pushing the 40lb daycare girl. Yesterday it was the 25lb boy- Going an hour earlier and less weight to push sure makes a difference. Wanted to come back home half way through but kept going. We were going to play at the park but when we got to the park, all the equipment is taped off. Did not go close enough yesterday at the other part to see if it is closed to- will check tomorrow. I try going different areas every day. Yesterday I just let Augustine pick the direction- a few new streets(and a few new fruit trees to keep our eyes on a little later in the season- Asian pears, figs, apples, fuyu persimmons, apricots, nectarines... Guavas a little farther out.
Dinner tonight will be chicken breast in teriyaki sauce with fried rice for husband, home made pesto(picked basil this morning) chicken breast for son and I- so will have fried rice for sure- he loves mine. Cucumber salad(picked it yesterday evening) and ?
Had a burger earlier before our walk- first one in at least 6 months(husband picked up Jack in the Box yesterday- I had just finished lunch so kept it til this morning). Will hit the cardio machine and/or bike later. Need to also work in the garden some more. Have to plant more okra- the other didn't do much. Need it for gumbo.2 -
Good Afternoon All,
I have to say I'm proud of myself because I'm still doing my walk during my lunch hour even though it's so hot I saw a funeral procession pull through a dairy queen.
Thank you for all the kind thoughts about putting Bruschi down. I just have to hope my son (who's 19) will come around with his anger and forgive me.8 -

Did Catahe Friedrich’s Fitness Cross Fire DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do Tracy Long’s Defined Lines DVD.
Katla – I didn’t say anything to these people, but it just kind of annoyed me. I am so sick of going in only one door and out only one door. I want to enter the store at the door closest to where I am going! I’m sick of waiting to find out they don’t have what I want. Another thing that kind-of annoys me is when I see someone wearing a mask around their neck or something like that. Yesterday I saw a guy with his mask off one ear. I don’t say anything, tho. I have seen more workers were face shields lately. Wonder if they’re just as effective as a mask but you probably don’t have the condensation problem on your glasses (if you were glasses)
Marie FL – welcome
Barbara – oh, a “Jersey tomato” is one of the absolute best tomatoes. They sold some “Jersey tomatoes” in PA and I bought one. It tasted so “bland”. Kind of like ripe tomatoes that are right out of the garden still warm from the sun.
Terri – I hear ya about being apprehensive about people flying. Jess is supposed to fly out to Idaho in the middle of July and I think they’re flying somewhere else. I’m worried for her, but I know there’s nothing I can do.
Viv – Vince admits now that he waited too long to have our one cat put down. The cat had cancer but he was bound and determined to give the cat chemo. I remember him and Jess force feeding the cat. I refused to do it. I would only take the cat to the oncologist if there wasn’t any other way for him to get there. That’s the only thing I’d do. I didn’t agree with prolonging his pain.
From what Steve was telling me about how he makes the pork schnitzel, to me it sounds like breaded, fried pork chops. We shall see!
Melissa - welcome
Rita – Offended? I find it amusing, don’t stop posting those pics of you and the natives, especially with the “cigarette”
Dlkf – do you plant the red or the green okra? You probably do the green since you said you use it in gumbo. I would think that the green would do better. To me, tho, the red is better tasting

Michele,
Safeway has a door in and a door out. The Walmart here has an all weather foyer. There are doors at each end. One side is for people going in & the other going out. Inside, there are one way aisles.1 -

Schnitzel is a breaded and fried boneless pork chop. Served with fries and lemon squeezed over the pork, it's delish. I have modified mine to be gluten free and the Mister (who is German) actually likes my breading better.
Addition: In Germany, one can often get it made with veal (Wiener Schnitzel). In the US, it can be pork or chicken. Rarely do I find it made with veal here.
Tina in CA1 -
The schnitzels I have had in Vienna, the home of schnitzel, are either veal, or pork, cut very thin, or beaten thin, then breaded and fried in lots of fat. The coating should lift and separate from the meat, like big bubbles, which protects it from drying out.
A real schnitzel is a thing of wonder.

I have never heard of red okra- I love it any way- especially fried in the air fryer or mom's pickled okra(that is SOOOOO GOOD)but also in a good bowl of gumbo.
I will look for the red okra when I am ordering seed for next year(will also tell my parents)2 -

Margaret, your new dog sounds like the perfect fit. I am enjoying your posts about what she’s found new to do.
Melissa, I’m so glad to meet you! This is a very helpful group, but also most of us feel we’re actually invested to a remarkable degree in each other’s success and growth.
Amber, I use the fat free mayo all the time. I particularly like it in egg salad, BLTs, sandwiches in general. It doesn’t do as well with warm foods though. Incidentally, congratulations on the weight loss. You and I now weigh about the same. Are you at your goal weight yet?
Vicki GI NE! I’m using your plan for inspiration. Agetting up and walking around my house for a few minutes is better than only walking to the bathroom or kitchen and back!
Pip, what are your plans now? Have you chosen an area or place to live in? Will you stay in the Seattle area, or take off on a world cycling tour? Only to COVID-19 safer areas, of course.
Capegurl, Welcome! Would you give us a name and a general area, so we can separate all w similar names in our minds? I know how debilitating it can feel to realize that even with our best intentions we’ve fallen into old patterns once again. For me it worked best by changing my proportions of fats, carbs and proteins around to 40% fats, 35% carbs and protein. And I only get 35-40g of sugar in my diet. Also, I compulsively log EVERYTHING, including meds. I finally need RNY bypass surgery, but have gone from a starting weight of 263.2# to a maintenance weight of 135-140 a year and a half after my surgery. I’ve gotten rid of 2 heart meds and a major inhaler. Losing weight is a slow thing no matter how you do it. Accept that it’ll take as long to take it off as it did to put it on.
I am taking a day of my days off to be truly “off”, but I’m probably going in to try to finish a couple of huge outstanding returns on Wed and Thurs. I’ll feel better once I get them off my mind. I’m also going to go wander around my house aimlessly for 5 minutes or 200 steps, whichever comes first.

Yes, it must be flattened. Frankfurt has a version of schnitzel that is wonderful too.1 -

Michele: It seems like we’re all having to change our habits while the Covid 19 Pandemic is impacting our country. I love my routines and habits, but I haven’t been able to go to yoga since this all started. I miss yoga. I’m not sure when the end will be in sight, but I’m looking forward to yoga and meeting friends in public places to have a good time. Luckily I have the opportunity to go to the stable once in a while.
I flubbed up when I bought CBD oil for the dog today. I expected a bottle with a dropper, as always. I got a bottle with a spray nozzle instead. It sure isn’t easy to put a few drops on the dog’s cookie. I don’t get along with unexpected changes in some things.
On a more positive note, we got deer netting up on blueberry bush number 2. It is now safe from deer. We’ll due bush #3 in a few days. All of its berries are green and hard, so it won’t be a target yet. The best news is bush #1. It has some ripe berries already. YUM!!! They taste wonderful.

Had new potatoes from our container garden last night. They were delish. We steamed them and had them with air fried chicken tenders. A couple of nights ago we had snow peas from those planted on the trellis in front of the gazebo. They were very good too. Blueberries are just beginning to ripen and we have some green cherry tomatoes that should ripen soon too. I love fresh fruit and veg at this time of year.
Beth - Happy belated birthday.
Pip - What fun handing that in.
Lisa - Loved the Sister Jane series.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA5 -
My different experience today was getting a COVID test. I DID NOT get it because of symptoms! We are getting ready to have some mass testing sites in our county and I was talking to Health Commissioner to arrange for a few of my staff to help with registration, etc. (local health departments are getting overwhelmed with all of this in addition to their regular responsibilities). Told him I wasn't sure if I would get tested or not, even though I live in one of the zip codes recommended for testing). I told him if we had a problem getting the staff quickly I could come and help. He shot me down on that (because of my age and thyroid cancer). Then he said, if you want to get tested, I need some volunteers for the staff the day before the mass event for practice on administering. I said "Why not." So it was my way of helping the cause more than worry about being positive. Test not bad--a little uncomfortable but over in no time. Totally expecting to find out I do not have COVID but I do know what the process is now.
Taking most of Thursday and Friday off this week (have to run into office briefly Thursday morning to get computer issue resolved). Thursday will be the 5 year anniversary of my husband's death. This year I have been replaying the 10 days in ICU over in my mind. Think perhaps all of the other stuff in the world is bringing some of that to the forefront. Plus I think that is just how the grieving process goes so I don't fight it. Getting minimal stuff done for work but will be back to giving my usual amount soon.
Off to watch some tv and get some sleep--tomorrow is a busy work day.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio6 -
Ginny- thinking of you.. anniversaries like that are hard....just watching tv and will go to sleep soon0
