So funny story. Wondering why everyone had suddenly gone quiet.

I was still in the July thread. Forgot it was August.

So um, my goal is to cycle and heal, and be back with a new goal in September. Wow light at the end of the tunnel!

I did wonder why you were still commenting in the July thread. Whoops!
Good to see you're still about, and healing.

Morning all, got my 10k in this morning but it was super sticky and hot so I decided to just take it really slowly but keep going, no breaks, walking, breathers etc. So I added a couple of minutes to my usual time but I’m glad I was able to hold it steady and keep going even with the big hills. I know it makes running so much harder but we so rarely get this kind of weather in London I refuse to complain about it! My Greek soul is loving it!

Hope everyone is doing well. @AlphaHowls is the poison ivy any better? @skippygirlsmom hope the college prep is going well. @PastorVincent I don’t think I’ll ever be at a place where more than 40 miles qualifies as a low mileage week! Hi and high fives to everyone else, especially those battling much madder heat than I!

    August total: 33.7m
    August goal: 75m

    2/8: 2m interval training
    3/8: 5m
    4/8: rest (6 mile walk)
    5/8: 6.3m
    6/8: Strength training
    7/8: 6.2m
    8/8: rest
    9/8: 8 miles
    10/8: Strength training
    11/8: 6.2 miles

    July: 81m
    June: 78m
    May: 80 m
    April: 115 m
    March: 76.4 m
    February: 17.8 m
    January: 0

We had thunderstorms all evening, so no run last night. I ended up doing a couple of ab and arm videos instead.

@kgirlhart, hope all goes well with your dad.

Today is a rest day for me. I thought I'd pop in and ask for prayers and good vibes for my dad. He fell last night and broke his hip. They are doing surgery today at 4:00. He is in relatively good shape, but will be 83 in two weeks and he does have a pacemaker. Plus his hearing is really bad so it is especially hard for him being alone in the hospital.

hope he has a quick recovery

    April Total: 191k
    May Total: 200k
    June Total: 156k
    July Total: 180k

    2020 Total through July: 1236k / 176.5k per month

Mostly sunny and low 70s F today. Started out at an easy pace, but couldn't maintain it and dropped back to slow.
I keep forgetting that dragging a set of clubs around chasing a little ball on a golf course is more like cross training than rest. My legs always feel it the next day.

When you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?

Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs
Run at least 4 5k races
    Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles
Stretch goal: If I can average 169k per month, I can run 2020k in 2020

Run the Year Team: Pavement Pounders

    2020 races:

9-19 Race for the Parks 5k, Hudson, OH
10-11 Haunted Hustle 5k, Aurora, OH

Glad to hear your dad is doing good @kgirlhart. Great run especially considering all those factors!

@Avidkeo - sorry about the cases. Do they know how they got into the country?

@Avidkeo - sorry about the cases. Do they know how they got into the country?

That’s why we are in lockdown - four people in one family with no known connection to anyone in managed isolation or who works on border control.
The three-day lockdown will be to try and work out how they caught it and that will dictate whether we stay in lockdown or not.

We knew this would happen. It was always just a case of when.

In more positive news: My children are delighted!

@ContraryMaryMary - I read that someone in the family had traveled out of the country and presumably brought it back with them and now they were doing the contact tracing... Hoping it is just the one family that is affected!
