My test came back last night as negative! My head felt a lot better yesterday, but it is killing me this morning. Going into work though. There was so much going on while I was home yesterday, and I was trying to help via phone as best I could, and then I received several calls from the prison during the night.
If I feel better tonight, I will try to attend my body pump class and then get in a few miles on the treadmill.
My medal for the Mental Health 10K came in the mail yesterday, so I need to figure out when I am going to run it.11 -
Awesome news about your test @marisap2010, shame about the headache. Feel better soon - I hope you have the energy for body pump.0

On the topic of shoes, anytime someone asks me "What are the best shoes to wear while running?" I tell them that it's very individual. What works for me may not work for you, and you just have to go try some on and see what feels good. Running stores can help fit you... unless like me, the running store in your city closed permanently during the lockdown
Recent travel has meant that I have done a lot more shorter runs, but I've also been cycling and swimming more, and running mileage has been down. But I am signed up for some half marathons starting in September, and figured I should try to bump up at least the long run, in case they actually happen. So I ran HM distance today, at a pace slower than marathon pace, but faster than my typical long training run pace, and felt strong.
Here is my current, very flexible training plan starting this week, and my weekly summary from last week that I never posted.
I start with a Hal Higdon plan (I think HM Advanced) and then modify it to fit my life and training. I do the days in whatever order I want, and the dots are color coded and mean I've completed that workout (or other things like strength work or cross training) for the week.
Above is last week. This week I did a treadmill speed workout Monday, and long run today. Feeling good. Might rest or cycle tomorrow.

This.
Brooks Ghost is a neutral shoe, with high cushioning and a whooping 12mm drop. If I put them on (not sure they come in mens) it would feel like I was wearing high heels compared to my current 4mm drop. Also, I tend towards less cushioning, so without even trying these on, I know I would not like them.

finally tied on my shoes. tried a new park. the trail is also a mountain bike trail which is nice. not super easy but not super hard. pretty flat, connects with the county trail system. near a river so speed demon gets her water time.
it was humid. hot. ran into some people. people really liked speed demon.
met a few dogs. most were good. one was off leash (visla) and was doing zoomies around us trying to convince speed demon to play.
speed demon also wanted to go along the banks and shallows for a bit. got a bit muddy. ate a bunch of gnats. got caught in a rain shower(yay).
3.66miles. our running parts were around 10min/miles. then we walked. did a few such intervals.deer flies were bothering her13 -
@mbaker566 I love picture of the rainbow. Looks like it's on fire.2

The weather was great for a run this morning. The humidity had dropped a bit and the temp was in the low 60sF. I did a 30-minute weight conditioning class while waiting for it to start getting daylight out because I couldn’t find my headlamp or my handheld and I’m also a bit of a chicken. I headed out the door around 6:15 and although the sky was a pretty orange to the east, the sun had not quite made it above the horizon.
@marisap2010 – glad for the negative test. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
@polksagirl01 – I have shoe envy for your reserve stock! And your ability to travel. I think that’s what I’ve missed the most this year.
I always look forward to your pictures @mbaker566 – thanks for sharing.
Happy Running Everyone!

@marisap2010 - so happy the test was negative! Hope the headache feels better too!
@polskagirl01 - I think all those other activities have made you even stronger!
@mbaker566 - Love the pictures of Speed Demon! and the rainbow is gorgeous. Hobbes will do that zooming around other dogs when he is off leash too. It is like he is taunting them to chase and try and catch him. He will literally take off zooming down the beach when another dog takes the bait. Unfortunately they typically can't keep up and drop off and he will just run back to us.
I got up early yesterday and ran another 5.7 miles for my eRace Racism challenge. My partner and I are up to a bit over 20 miles so far. She runs at night though and I run in the morning and she is really fast, 8min mile fast! Really makes me feel like a 🐢 or a 🐌
No run for me today. I did do an online HIIT class and a Stretch and Roll class. Really enjoying them! Also it is supposed to be 103F here today and CA set a record yesterday for highest temp in the US ever recorded (130F in Death Valley). Hopefully it will cool down just a bit this weekend.5 -
@polksagirl01 – I have shoe envy for your reserve stock! And your ability to travel. I think that’s what I’ve missed the most this year.It *almost* feels normal right now in Poland. Masks are required inside buildings and public transport, and I only know of small races that are tentatively being planned. We are taking precautions, avoiding crowds, etc.
These were mainly work trips we were supposed to have taken in April. But we also took a weekend away at a cabin near a lake, that was wonderful! And socially distant!5 -

So, the street that my house is on is obviously the road I run down the most. I mean I have to use it to leave the house AND return after all. So I have been running on this street at least a couple times a week for a couple years before the pandemic, and 4-5 times a week since the pandemic. So really all the people on the street should be used to me running by now, right?
A couple days ago I was walking back up the hill after my run and sucking down my water from my Wunjo, and this guy calls out really loud. "It's a water bag!" several times.
I choose to ignore him and keep walking. Still unsure what the response should be.5 -
@mbaker566 Looks like a great trail. Love the pictures.
@PastorVincent I'm not sure either. Maybe just an "Yes it is. I've had it for x years and it's a real life saver."

Shorter run since it was leg day for weight lifting. Tomorrow I'm aiming for a 3 mile run as it's a rest day from weights.3 -
Yesterday was a rest day after my long run on Sunday. I am working everyday this week at the daycare - hours for me are 9 - 2. I'm glad I'm not working all day, but that being in the middle of the day makes it hard for me to get anything done. It is too early for me to be able to get my run in before work (being the night owl that I am). When I get home, it's too hot to run outside. So, I will probably be doing my runs on the treadmill this week. I had to force myself today, but I changed into my running clothes as soon as I got home and went down and got it done. Had I waited, I would have talked myself out of it.
Today was a Fast Finish Run. I ran for 3.5 miles and walked 1.
Also 10/20 walking miles
