A falling pelican to the nose would be much more of an event. Glad it was just a pecan.
@martaindale sorry the sad circumstances brought you, but great to see you pop in!
Great job everyone - sounds like some serious heat out there still. We had another cooler day here and it's starting to give some real fall vibes. I love that, but I'm not ready to move so fast toward the inevitable "after-fall" time that shall not be named. The office person at my doctor's office told me to enjoy my summer today and I was pleased by that optimism that we still had a bunch of summer left.

I finished out the month with one last 5k - not nearly as fast as Saturday's attempt but it was more enjoyable. I waited until after work and ran from there. Or close to there - I drove down to a park nearby so I wouldn't have to run back up hill at the end. I did a simple out and back along a divided street with decent bike lane shoulders, parts of which I was pleasantly surprised to find had recently been repaved. With the pretty nice weather and an entertaining podcast it was not a bad run, despite how much I didn't want to do it when I started.
So that's August! My lowest August miles in the 5 years I've been tracking - because no September or October races on the calendar. As PastorVincent said to me, it's like a whole taper year!
See you all in September!6 -

Soooooo humid. 81 dewpoint.
While I was running a falling pecan hit me right in the nose! Ouch! Husband says, “Well it’s not a surprise, if you rolled a die like in d&d or something your nose would have the largest percentage chance devoted to it...” hardy har har. Fortunately I know he likes my big nose.
Right after we finished I looked like I had just jumped in a swimming pool! This is a quick dry tech shirt!
Back at the car, covered in salt and bugs. So many bugs. So many. I needed windshield wipers for my sunglasses.
I read falling pelican the first time😯
Oh, I was totally on team pelican, also... only it took more than one reread to figure out what was actually said!!
1.9 today = 3.7/ why am I starting over again??3 -

I read about Pastor Vincent last Thursday and just have not been able to form words. He got me through my first marathon with "left, right, left, right, repeat till you get to the finish line."
This month was about surviving heat, humidity, poison ivy and a bout with gout. It has been emotional and stressful with COVID 19. I do not welcome the cooler weather; I do not like being cold. Both Pastor Vincent and MobyCarp helped me get out in the cold to keep running outdoors in winter. Even though I do find some of the humidity oppressive, I prefer it.9 -

I am the same way. As much as I complain about the heat and humidity, I really prefer warm weather over cold.2 -
I just want it to be Fall or Spring all the time...😁
@AlphaHowls - I remember the "left, right, left, right, repeat till you get to the finish line." too. We'll just all be here to keep reminding each other of that and how to get through one step at a time. I am amazed that you were able to complete 540 miles given all that you were dealing with in August!, especially so many days of HM+ - WOW!4 -

Someone from the group said on Facebook that we should get that put on T-shirts.4
