@shanaber Hobbes looks like he is really enjoying himself. Glad you're able to run more and getting used to the PM.
@kgirlhart Hope your dad is doing well today.0 -
@Camaramandy648 Good luck with all of your running. Sorry to hear about your friend. I hope she and her family will be okay.
@AlphaHowls Glad your poison ivy rash is getting better. I apparently got some the last day we worked on the trees in the drive way - this past Friday, despite wearing long sleeves and taking a shower as soon as we were done. I didn't notice anything until yesterday, which I think is a little odd. Guess I just took longer to react to it this time. Thankfully, mine isn't really itching to much, just red and funky looking.
@kgirlhart Glad everything went well with your dad. Praying for a speedy recovery.
@Avidkeo and @ContraryMaryMary Hope it is only the one family and things will get back to normal with you all soon.1 -
Today was the longest I ran without slowing to a walk! Pushed thru the mental barrier and kept going π9 -

@Avidkeo - sorry about the cases. Do they know how they got into the country?
Thatβs why we are in lockdown - four people in one family with no known connection to anyone in managed isolation or who works on border control.
The three-day lockdown will be to try and work out how they caught it and that will dictate whether we stay in lockdown or not.
We knew this would happen. It was always just a case of when.
In more positive news: My children are delighted!
@ContraryMaryMary - I read that someone in the family had traveled out of the country and presumably brought it back with them and now they were doing the contact tracing... Hoping it is just the one family that is affected!
No, thatβs why the cityβs in lockdown. That family hasnβt been traveling or exposed knowingly to anyone with Covid. Itβs community transmission, and thatβs the issue.
Thanks for your concern everyone, 4 community transmission cases in a city of 1.6 million ainβt too bad. Especially the way our govt responds to this. I only hope itβs all over before my next event on Sept 20 (because itβs all about me!).8 -

well life got in the way and both monday and tuesday i was unable to run
but i have a few rest days and this is just easy runs. so i'm hoping to take those rest days and go slow with make up runs. another reason i need to get my hypersomnia under control. 4am runs would make sure i could get my runs in like i'm supposed to.
on the other hand, i did some "crosstraining" doing poop patrol in the yard and some weeding of my garden beds.3 -

So funny story... my employer has a program where they award people that do healthy things like get a flu shot, get regular health screenings and such.
Well one of them is a "step challenge" and I was like, oh, I will just connect my Garmin and see what happens.
Heh.
Well, not only have I blow past the 2 million step challenge (with many months to spare) but I am also number 10 in the WORLD for the number of steps this month.
I feel bad almost since yesterday I was not on the charts, and today I knocked someone out of the top ten. Ops
This comes with a CASH REWARD, so I will be able to buy new shoes (or maybe a new lens) soon! I just need figure out how to claim it.

@PastorVincent The past 2 years my work had the same million then 2 million step challenge. We had to do it at least 3 months and I was always over.
This year they took that away and we had to pick two activities. Oh track 20 nights sleep and 20 days tracking food? I was done in the first month. π€£
Goal pace workout today. I cut the cool down short because time. But I hit the paces and got 4 miles in.
Workout was 5 min at 9:49-10:09. Splits under spoiler.
16.6/80 for the month4 -

Oh, they have track sleep too... but they want you to track SEVEN HOURS A NIGHT - Yeah, not gonna pull that one off.2 -
@Scott6255 Wow. You did great to get in 6 miles at those temps that early in the morning. I've forgotten. Where do you live?
@PastorVincent Congratulations! A cash reward for walking/running would be nice.
@RunsOnEspresso Great run!
@PastorVincent It's funny that your work wants you to sleep 7 hours, as that has been my goal lately. How many times have I achieved that? Very few. Still a work in progress.

Got up early to get my run in before it gets too hot. I really was NOT in the mood to run today, but it was scheduled to be a short, easy one, so that helped me get out the door. The first half mile or so my left knee was hurting. I thought I was going to have to stop and just walk, but it surprisingly felt better when I sped up a bit. I must step funny when going really slow. Then, when I did the turn around on the driveway it hurt again. Finally the bell went off in my head. All of the times I have run driveway laps, I have made that short turn counterclockwise, so have put a lot of pressure on that knee by doing so. The rest of the run, I made that short turn going clockwise and actually walked those few steps instead of running. That made all of the difference. I need to remember to change up the direction I do my turns so as not to over stress one side.
Overall, the run wasn't bad. Temp was 70Β°F with 88% humidity. Plan called for easy 25 minutes. I ran 2 miles and walked 1.
Also 7/20 walking.

@Avidkeo and @ContraryMaryMary I WISH our government would respond the way yours is. I am still working. Kids are expected to return to school, in person, in twelve days. We get new cases every day, though we might be seeing a downward trend. It's not a good situation.
I have made one solid decision about this school year: If they close schools again, the kids will be expected to do 4 hours of school work each day, virtually. And the grades WILL count. So. I'll be working from home. And honestly, I can't wait. Working through this whole thing with kids at home has really sucked.
On running:
I GOT A PR FOR 10K DISTANCE! It's not an amazing pace, but I finished 6.47 miles in 1:08:47, giving me a 10:37 pace! I don't think this has ever happened!
I didn't even want to go out - I had a million gazillion reasons not to. Work. Rain. Kids. Dog. Tired. Just didn't want to.
But then I just kept moving forward in the routine - get dressed. Choose socks. Put on shoes. Get water. Insist on forward movement.
When the music started, my mood shifted immediately and I just.... WENT. It was like flying and it was so much fun! The temperature was mid 70's (I think) after thunderstorms all day - so the humidity was bad, but the breeze was great. I was DRENCHED by the time I finished and I couldn't believe how little time it took. I'm still reeling over it. I think it's probably an anomaly and may never happen again but mannn.... that feels good!
@quilteryoyo thank you! My friend actually requested dinner for tomorrow night, which I suppose is fine. I may uber eats it over to her since i have a longer run tomorrow.
Anyway... back to work I suppose.
@PastorVincent I wish my job would do something for me for being so freaking healthy.... like maybe bring me a doughnut.......12 -
@Camaramandy648 Congratulations on your PR and the fact that is felt so good and easy! You are doing great!0
