Good job on the HM distance @eleanorhawkins ! Sorry about the dogs though. I don't know what it is about those little dogs. And where was the chihuahua's owner? I have decided that a lot of owners of little dogs think it is cute that they "think they are big dogs" and let them get by with things they would never let a big dog do. The only dog that has bitten me was a little dog. So annoying. I'm glad it didn't hurt you.

@quilteryoyo once the woman managed to catch it she did at least apologise profusely. As always (insert eye roll here) she 'didn't know what had got into him' and it was 'the first time he'd ever done anything like that'

Yep @eleanorhawkins , it's always the "first time." Glad she did at least apologize.

I am way behind but will catch up later. I did want to post a Christmas Challenge I found and signed up for today, if anyone is interested. You run or walk 12/01-12/25 and can pick your distance 25/50/100 miles to complete the challenge. They have some limited International shipping too for the shirt and medal. Here is the link

    ETA
You can also form teams if that is of interest.
Race FAQs say not International shipping but when you go through the registration process it says:
International shipping available to Canada, Australia, and European countries. It is $30 more though to ship internationally. ☹️

@Tramboman Congratulations on the 1200 mile badge! Love the trivia.

@katharmonic Great running. Congrats on all of your Nov achievements! Thanks for setting up the Dec thread!

Nice run @martaindale! You did great. Hope your shoes dry quickly.

@Avidkeo - Happy Birthday! Love that they made you a cake!
@mbaker566 - Dobies, like Vizslas need the right home. We have such a problem right now with people thinking they want a Vizsla and not realizing how much work they are. If they aren't exercised and trained they can be so destructive. They are really smart and need mental stimulation as much as physical. Definitely worth the effort but like Dobies, not for everyone.
@martaindale - we do typically watch the National Dog show and my husband usually records it. I didn't check and he forgot so I have watched parts from the web. We have friends that have a wire haired V they brought over as a pup from Hungary. It seems most people prefer the smooth coated though. The wire haired also seem to be much bigger and that may play into it too. I also like to see what dog is in the show and it it is one I know or related to one. Hobbes' brother is a grand champion (was the #1 V in the US for several years) and went to Westminster twice but isn't doing much conformation any longer. He has lots of offspring now though and many of them are working their way up. We also follow most of the agility competitions. Several of the dogs we compete with have done to the National Agility competition including our trainer and 2 of her dogs. It is a pretty small community actually with people traveling all over the country (pre-pandemic) to compete.
@katharmonic - love Stella! Also thanks for setting up December! I have run some of the Rails to Trails in different parts of the country and found many are like the trail you ran on. Great access but ugly scenery. Most seem to eventually get to areas that are beautiful if you can run far enough or start further out. Also that turkey costume is awesome!
@Teresa502 - that was probably a Beddlington Terrier. I always wanted one as a kid. They are really cute and very stubborn 😁. I really like the Pumi these days. It is another Hungarian breed and looks like a muppet to me!
@eleanorhawkins - so glad the dog couldn't get to your ankle through your socks! Hobbes is terrified of most small dogs and after being bit I am not a fan either, so we always take a wide berth around them.
@marisap2010 - a restaurant in Seattle where my daughter lives did an outdoor scavenger hunt and apparently it was a lot of fun based on the comments and reviews I read. Hope you have fun with yours too!

@katharmonic way to go on your running streak! I'm hear you about feeling the lack of energy today. And thank you for setting up December.

@Tramboman great job on RTE 1200 milestone!

@martaindale way to tough it out through the rain!

It was another beautiful day of weather this morning, 53F 10mph wind, but supposed to rain today so needed to get out. It seemed harder today, but probably because I forgot to take my asthma medicine. Still ended up with 8 miles at a good pace, but wished it felt easier.

@shanaber – Yes, it was a Beddlington Terrier! They are so darn cute. The Pumi breed is also adorable!

@martindale – If you have any newspaper, wad it up and stick it inside your wet shoes. It’s amazing how much moisture it absorbs.

@Scott6255 – I had a tough run this morning too. Just no energy. I think I may have overdone it yesterday….

Thanks for setting up December @katharmonic!

@shanaber yes it has lots of settings from solid colors to rotating

I don't mind winter too much. You can always put on more clothes. Ice is the only issue since the indoor track is closed.

I feel like if I ran with Bob I'd get stopped a lot. He's a handsome Doberman

Hey MFP'ers - I would love to join you next month...

Does anyone know of great resources (ie websites or videos) that have tips for dressing and shoes/accessories for running outdoors in the icy Canadian winter months?

@WandaVaughn You will be in my prayers. I have had 3 colonoscopies. The procedure itself is easy peasy. The prep, not so much. Pray they don't find anything to worry about. I'm glad you are getting one. I know a lot of people who put them off until it is too late. I kept bugging my dad until he got one. We were lucky because they found several pre-cancerous polyps, one of which had some "fingers" starting to get into the colon. Had he waited much longer the outlook would have been much different.

Re: colonoscopies. The American Cancer Society has recently updated their guidelines for colon cancer screenings to start screening at 45 for normal risk people due to an increase in colon cancer rates in younger people. I'll leave a link with a bit more info here.
    https://www.cancer.org/cancer/colon-rectal-cancer/detection-diagnosis-staging/acs-recommendations.html

Like @quilteryoyo said, early detection is key. Caught early colon cancer is incredibly treatable. And, you may be able to screen using less invasive methods than a colonoscopy if you fall into a lower risk category.

@Steph_135 - I am going to tag @juliet3455 hoping he will see this. He lives in Alberta and I am sure could help with your questions on cold weather running gear. Being in Southern California I am no help at all. There are many others here though who run in cold weather that can probably help too.
