Hey MFP'ers - I would love to join you next month...

Does anyone know of great resources (ie websites or videos) that have tips for dressing and shoes/accessories for running outdoors in the icy Canadian winter months?

@WandaVaughn You will be in my prayers. I have had 3 colonoscopies. The procedure itself is easy peasy. The prep, not so much. Pray they don't find anything to worry about. I'm glad you are getting one. I know a lot of people who put them off until it is too late. I kept bugging my dad until he got one. We were lucky because they found several pre-cancerous polyps, one of which had some "fingers" starting to get into the colon. Had he waited much longer the outlook would have been much different.

    January Total: 161k
    February Total: 167k
    March Total: 181k
    April Total: 191k
    May Total: 200k
    June Total: 156k

Current miles: 1206 (In the year 1206, Phillip II of France occupied Normandy and Anjou)

Sunny, frosty, low 30s F and a light breeze from the south today. Saw and heard lots of robins and there was some skim ice on one of the local ponds.
@polskagirl01 Nothing like a good run with a little snow.
@WandaVaughn Don't stress. Like @quilteryoyo said, the procedure is easy; the prep is no fun, but a lot more fun than it used to be.

When you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?

Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs
Run at least 4 5k races
    Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles - Completed 10-11
Stretch goal: If I can average 169k per month, I can run 2020k in 2020
Run the Year Team: Pavement Pounders -- Completed 9-29

    2020 races:

9-8 to 9-13 "Virtual Boston with Vincent" Time goal 5:15:00; actual time 4:47:01

Re: colonoscopies. The American Cancer Society has recently updated their guidelines for colon cancer screenings to start screening at 45 for normal risk people due to an increase in colon cancer rates in younger people. I'll leave a link with a bit more info here.
    https://www.cancer.org/cancer/colon-rectal-cancer/detection-diagnosis-staging/acs-recommendations.html

Like @quilteryoyo said, early detection is key. Caught early colon cancer is incredibly treatable. And, you may be able to screen using less invasive methods than a colonoscopy if you fall into a lower risk category.

@Steph_135 - I am going to tag @juliet3455 hoping he will see this. He lives in Alberta and I am sure could help with your questions on cold weather running gear. Being in Southern California I am no help at all. There are many others here though who run in cold weather that can probably help too.

Congratulations on making your goal @Mari33a and @Kimbeers !

@Avidkeo That is odd, but good, that you didn't get call outs. I would have wondered if my phone was working or not. Yeah for your first HM training run! You've got this.

@rheddmobile Sounds like you had a nice day, even if the running part was harder than expected. Turkeys make a lot of noise when they fly, don't they? I love to watch experienced riders on horses. That was never something I did. Went on a ride for the first time a couple of years ago and, while it was fun, I wasn't confident and the horse knew it.

@ContraryMaryMary Congratulations on running the year! Awesome.

@mbaker566 Speed Demon is so happy. That looks like a great place to run. Glad you were successful in keeping your heart rate down.
