I'll weight in on Wednesdays. I am going to set ambitious goalsafterreading@frankwbrown's inspirational quotes. Since it's a 30 lbs challenge, I will make that my goal.
Good luck to everyone else on reaching your goals.

Jan 13th 212.1 lbs - it seems I am going in the wrong direction? I think in the long term, the loss will show
Jan 20th 210.3 lbs - I think my goal for Jan was a bit ambitious, was expecting a restart 5lb whoosh!

Just wanted to thank - RubyRed427 - for staring this group! Something about it felt positive & supportive and just 'right' if that makes sense?
And to everyone here posting their progress and kind words, thanks for being real & inspiring!!12 -
So proud of my country today, undoing the MESS we have been left with. It will be nice to go weeks without worrying if one tweet will lead to a national calamity. This will help with my stress eating, no doubt.

My weight this morning was 276.3, for the fourth day running! It seems I must be well under my calorie goal in order to lose weight, despite MFP knowing I want to lose 2 lbs/week. Perhaps my BMR is much lower than MFP estimates. I've been struggling to meet my protein goal, as I am trying to retain (even gain) muscles while losing fat. Guess I'll have to live on salads, protein shakes and beef jerky for a while.
(actually, I do have other high protein foods, like salmon, tuna, lean ham, etc. It's fat that I need to avoid.)8 -
Today my daughter left for second semester college, so I will need to start some better routines. I have to get back to the gym. I have been getting consistent high step count each day because of this app I am part of. So that's motivation. I also have been imagining myself thin and saying positive things like I feel good; I feel thin. I look great. (even when I dont).
The school mirror in my classroom is like a fun house mirror! Every time I walk by it and look at my profile, I am not pleased. But then I laugh it off and know that I am on the right track.
I'm happy we are all part of this thread!! I love reading your posts!

Having a big set back.....😟
In the past 24hrs I have eaten a large bag of Twizzlers black licorice, bag of wine gums, and just ate 1/2 of a Dominos large pizza with ham olives and mushrooms at 10:30pm!!!!!
My question is, if I have an underage in calorie intake over the next few days and increase exercise calories burned....is it still possible to not gain weight?
I'm really disappointed in myself and DO NOT WANT to give up or revert to these binges.
Feeling like crap!

I've been at the same weight for 4 days running. I'm hoping tomorrow I'll see a drop.
I've also had days when I've gained weight (quite a bit in December). The thing is, whether you gain or lose, what matters is not giving up. We all fall sometimes. Just get back to doing what you know you need to do.

I don’t know about your question but my trainer once said it takes the body three days ti you see weight gain - or three Days for good or bad eating to show up.
I ate chips and dip last night and still have some left , so I threw it away. I don’t want to eat it tonight.6 -

@mc52012 today is a brand new day! Those kind of days happen. Don’t give up on yourself and don’t beat yourself up. Acknowledge that yesterday was a hard day. Try to learn from it (perhaps you were just really hungry? Did you eat enough earlier in the day? Maybe some extra stress, boredom Etc). But... most importantly, give today your very best! Give yourself permission to start over every single day.9 -

Setbacks are inevitable. How you respond to them is your choice.
Try replacing the bad snacks with healthier options. Grab a clementine instead of licorice for example. I have been craving sweets and luckily (so far) have mostly resisted. I did have a few Milano cookies twice this week, but still kept to my calories and only had about half as many each time as I might have had previously.9 -

Heading in the right direction, but was hoping for bigger numbers. Averaging 383 calories and 54 min. a day exercising, so I'm hoping some of the lack of weight loss is muscle weight.10 -
I'm a day early on weighing in but I like the number so I'm keeping it. This is day 200 of MFP for me. I've been avoiding nuts (my favorite snack) because I usually can't stop eating them. Also, found a weird way to stop cravings: I eat a hot pepper (2 cal) and it kills my salt/sugar craving for hours. I started varying my exercise routine, adding stair climbing to my walks and adding more pushups (hate) and planks (really hate). The good news is my wife says I no longer look like I'm pregnant! (YES, my gut really was that bad). Maybe someday I might even have abs? Dream on!

That's in the past and you can't change what happened. The good news...today is a new day and that's what counts! Focus on today and don't be beat yourself up...what would you tell a friend? Be a friend to yourself! We are human and we will stumble...get back up and keep going because you're worth it!

TGIF! I hope everyone's week is going well as we head into the weekend! I just wanted to share a website I heard about during a Zoom meeting today! I thought that this would be a great idea to do since we are all challenging ourselves!! Write a letter to your future self!!! Perhaps it will help us stay on track and keep our eyes on the prize!!! Take care!!!

I forgot to weigh in. Probably subconsciously. I made poor choices more than once this week. I'll see what it says tomorrow and report in though I am guessing it's up. Oh well.10

“The secret to permanently breaking any bad habit is to love something greater than the habit.” ―Bryant McGill
Just a little something to think about.
My “something greater” that has motivated me is my health and life, along with a bit of fear of the higher risk of poor outcome with Covid when overweight.
It has felt like really slow progress but that’s ok .. I’m trying to make life-style changes regarding food and exercise, not using a “diet”.
Again, just thinking out loud.
Be well everyone!9 -

I second that. And I'll add:
I love food. I want food. I want to eat more food than I should, even given my increased activity level. So why don't I? Well, sometimes I do, and I regret it, but then I feel a stronger resolve to stick to the plan.
And I love the thought that I will feel better, and I love knowing that I'll be able to do a lot more things. My desire to do things I can't do now gives me the strength to (mostly) resist temptation. But, what also drives me is a fear and a dread that if I don't do something now, I will likely have a shorter life and will definitely have a less fulfilling life. I see myself as being on a journey; I am at a place where I do not want to stay, nor do I want to go backward. I am at a point between where I was (not a good place) and where I want to be. And no treat is sufficient to outshine that goal.
Keep your goal in mind, always.

Well I gained 3 lbs. This is to be expected when every other day I seemed to be having cheat meals, had the grandkids over and bought (and ate) treats, and did not get my daily walk. And, like so many others that struggle, I definitely was stress eating. I bought donuts....donuts! I never eat donuts! but they were just staring at me at the market and I impuslively threw them in the cart. 2 steps forward, 1 step back. Back on track today.11
