Saturday's workout- nothing special about it, but it was a good workout.
On Sunday before my workout I met up with a friend to do some car push for cardio, and is a fun add in for part of my training. I was pushing my car (~3,500 lbs/1587 Kg) which was surprisingly lighter than I anticipated, for 50 ft sprints. The parking lot had a bit of a grade to it, so pushing one way was definitely easier than the other, but overall was not bad. I set up my phone to record so I could share in GIF form for all of you wonderful people. Well like a total idiot I didn't switch the camera to the correct side so all the video is barely audible sounds and me picking the camera up. So I screen shot the only image in the video that wasn't the side of the pole the phone was leaning up against. Of course my kids called me old, and asked why I didn't make sure I had video. I simply replied I was to busy pushing cars.
I did my workout, but like an idiot I didn't log my numbers because I got distracted. As much fun as it is to have a training partner some times, it can also be a huge distraction- for example logging exercises.
I will get a video next time, hopefully pushing or pulling something a bit bigger/heavier.

I use the Stong app to - it’s pretty convenient0 -

Haha I get this, I love the videos I get where I think I hit record, but instead I get a pic of my nostrils as I pick up the phone to stop recording!
Sounds like a solid pull and workout! Also... 395 for deads for reps! That's awesome and so close to 400!0 -
Rare evening session so I actually recorded a bit of everything for this chest-focused push workout. Had my furry spotter, Sherlock hanging out the whole time, too.
- Shoulder warmup with Shoulderok swings
- Incline Press 3x12, 50# DBs
- Incline chest flyes 3x12, 25# DBs
- Flat Bench 3x12, 180#
- Ez bar curls 3x15, 55#
- Lateral Raises 3x15, 25# DBs

Back in the gym today. Kinda sad how low my weights still are. Maybe someday I'll get back into a better routine, back to where I was...idk.

I feel that way about my squats. It feels like they'll never come back. And I've lost ground in my pullups.
But.. As long as we keep working, and pushing, that's the key, right?
Glad you got back in today!0 -

Thanks, been really enjoying the hypertrophy training block. MFP jumbled the order for whatever reason and I didn’t realize it, I was intending for the cat scritches to be at the end.1 -

Just an assortment from the past week or two. We are working on form.
My triceps are strong and I can do much heavier bench with a block on my chest, but, man, I really feel an old l rotator cuff tear with the chest taps.
The weights are really helping a lot with my other goals, and I am very pleased with the progress. My goal for 2021 is a hand stand, full wheel, or/or chin stand. Chin stand “clicked” for me this week, and is I’m getting it up and holding it for a second or two. Working on higher and longer now. I’m confident it will be where I want it soon. With my janky shoulder, I don’t know if I’ll ever get a full wheel, though. That’s a lot of pressure. At some point you have to know your limits and pick your battles.
Landed on my neck trying an asymmetrical headstand in a class, and am working on getting back on that horse again.
Did manage a crow (arm balance) pose into headstand and got one leg back down into crow again, several times. Working on completing that sequence.
It is so blooming humid here that hot mat classes have become extremely wearing and challenging, and classes have been really small, mostly hard core participants, so instructors are amping the classes up even further since they know we have the skills.
It’s so ****ing nice to be able to say that. I couldn’t do any of the fun stuff a couple years ago. I absolutely love arm balances. Very empowering.
Really working on pushing with feet and hips during benching.

@steveko89
Love Sherlock. Silver cats are the best.
Stinky’s workout party trick is climbing under me during an arm balance. Great incentive not to fall out and flatten his butt. He also likes to sit on my head during final relaxation.

Snagged one gif from my Pull workout this morning
Barbell rows 3x12, 135#
Cable Facepulls 3x12
Pullups 3x8
Chest-supported DB Row 3x12, 40#/side
EZ Curls 3x12, 55#
Could still feel last night's session in my right elbow so I was a little low on reps for pullups and curls.
Here's the other two furballs.
Mrs. Hudson (aka Martha) the little 10lb Calico
Irene (aka Fluffy/Floof) the sprawling 15lb Ragamuffin

@springlering62 I don't think the GIF posted right but the Shoulderok swings have done wonders for my shoulder mobility/stability. I also do a pretty hefty volume of facepulls for rear delt work. Weighted halos provide a similar sensation but you quickly become load-limited, in my experience.0

Thanks for the tips. I do facepulls. The halos look interesting. Not sure what I could use for the shoulderok swings.

Does your gym have anything like this? I've seen them used in a similar fashion. Even a baseball bat might work as a warmup.

Here's a link to the Shoulderok on Kabuki's website if anyone is curious. I don't recall spending that much on mine though.

First, nice job on the rows. Most people fake them.
Second, your cats are gloriously beautiful!2 -
I got to the gym earlier than normal last night. It was significantly busier than my normal time. I couldn't get to all of the equipment I needed so the workout was cut short last night. I'll be sure to be back at my normal time tonight to make up for the lifts I missed on. Days like yesterday that makes me think investing in a home gym would be worth it.

The start of week 1/5 was decent despite leaving 1100 calories on the table yesterday. Let see how tomorrow belted pulls go 😉.5 -

I am just in awe of the volume you push. Incredible and so smooth. Just wow.

It's funny, but I sit here and wish I had a gym membership because I want access to so many machines / equipment / plates I don't have... and yet I forget that they have to actually be FREE to use too!
Great work, inspite of the busy-ness!1 -

Don't get me wrong it's nice to have the access, it just means I have to go at non-prime times to guarantee access. So between 8PM and 4AM. Gym closes at 10 PM and opens at 4:30 AM, but with the 24 hour pass late nights are fine if you don't mind not sleeping
Every gym is different though. Mine is a commercial gym, and through my wife's work my membership is $15/month so I can't pass it up. But with it comes the lifters of every type (Teens, ego, experienced, talkers, etc. etc.) and it just creates chaos sometimes, and fills up other opportunities.2 -

I was never comfortable around other people at the gym in college so I'd often go at midnight or first thing Saturday/Sunday morning when everyone else was hungover. Can't imagine that would change now. I'll take my furry interlopers over other people any day.3 -

Yeah, I am so self conscious that I get severe anxiety thinking about going to an actual gym, with other people.
Part of me wants to be where the people are, and a bigger part of me is afraid of them. Lol1 -

It wasn't until I had my own stuff that I felt "allowed" to lift like I do now. Even when it was just me at the rec in college I didn't feel like I belonged or deserved to lift with free weights. That self-doubt and self-identity was tough to break but I had to work through those "who are you even kidding with this?" type thoughts alone in my basement, away from theoretical judgemental eyes (except for the cats, of course). There was a long time I couldn't even trust my thoughts and self-talk if I listened to music while lifting so I started listening to sports radio/podcasts and that let me focus.2 -

Yeah... I feel similar. I think if I went to one now, I'd be a bit more confident in myself. I'd still be nervous, but I think I'd feel less like an imposter.0 -

I can relate to this - I’m the “weakest” dude at my gym man - I’m 180 and right now most I’ve squatted was 205 5x5 - most I’ve benched 170 - 5x5 - dead I wanna say 245 ish 5x5 was the most - and I think that same way all the time - but no way for a home gym right now so I just put on the headphones and put my head down and drown it out - cause I’ve come to learn most ppl ain’t even paying attention to me lol - and if they are I just don’t care anymore in my old age5
