Great day on Wednesday
For Wednesday
- I'm grateful for another individual, a direct report. This gentlemen and I share a passion for self improvement resources. He turned me on to a Mathew McConaughey commencement speech at the University of Texas at Austin. Always thought of McConaughey as a flake but his message that each individual is accountable for their direction was solid. The big benefit to me was the start down the rabbit hole of YouTube resources.
- 1900 calories: 1805
- Each between 8 and 6: Done
- Eat dinner at the table: Done
- Work on Excel for 5 minutes:Done
- Read at night versus scrolling news feeds: Continuing to make progress
- Left out workout goal. Worked out for 77 minutes including a 39 minute, 1.51 mile treadmill walk. Still slower on the treadmill but getting better
For Thursday
- I'm grateful for technology and in specific, a big one with MyFitnessPal. I remember my father using a pocket sized book to track calories and while I've never done WW's point system I can't believe either were, easy or accurate. I kept fitness journals through my 20's and 30's but it wasn't until I discovered MFP in 2013 that CICO became workable for me. Having an easy to use, mobile system that if I'm accurate in my logging provides a clear path to my goals is incredibly valuable.

Have a great day y’all!
Yesterday was a good day with the exception of exercising. I spent way too much time in the car yesterday. My daughter was not ready for driving on the interstate, and we seriously almost wrecked, but it turned out okay. Her doc appointment went well.
My weight was low yesterday, but popped up a bit today. Today’s weight is more realistic, and not a reason to be upset, still under 190.

@Bex953172 - that sounds like a great day! I don't think that it's too political to put the reason why it was a sad day in the US yesterday, but Google US Capitol Jan 6 2021 and I'm sure you'll find it. I'm Canadian and feel sad for my US neighbours.
3 -
@mytime6630 Why was it a sad day for the USA yesterday? X
Because our Democracy was hanging by a thread for most of the day. I never thought I would live to see something like that in the US. It is a disgrace. I've seen a coup up close when living overseas. Both of my grandmothers ended up in the US because they were fleeing dictatorships and barely got out with their lives. I am not a person who is easily triggered, but this was really distressing for me. I had an intense day at work and then spent the evening trying to figure out what happened during the day.
Let's hope today will be a calmer day.

Did you watch the news? Protesters not believing in the election (per our current president), and they stormed into the capitol. One person was shot. Like @azulvioleta6 said .. it is something I never thought we would see in our country. Our president still claims the election was rigged, and that he won the election.. even though he lost by over 300,000 votes.0 -

Wow! What a crazy holiday season! Boy, am I glad that's over!
@Bex953172 Thank you for giving me the kick in the butt that I needed to get back on here. And for telling me about the new thread bc I totally wouldn't have remembered. Lol
As for my story, I was a beanpole for most of my life. I didnt break 100lbs until my senior year of high school and I was 5'5". But then I met my husband Matt in 2012 and slowly started to put weight on. When I hit 25 my metabolism slowed down and it came on a bit faster. Then in 2016 we quit smoking and I mainlined sugar. Badly. And put on 50lbs in 6 months. I've been battling with it ever since. I lost some of it in 2018 when I went off my medication(I suffer from Bipolar) and then put it right back on when I went back on the meds. Right before the pandemic started my doctor increased one of my meds. Between that, being laid up from surgery, and then being quaratined for 6 months I put on another 25. I reached my highest weight in November at 213lbs. I put on 113lbs in 15 years. Maybe not shocking to most people but insane for me to think about. Lol.
But in November I decided to take control of my health and joined Noom. It's the paid weightloss program that's all over Youtube. It's psychology based as opposed to straight up health-based. It's been really helping me a lot. So that coupled with the new job that is incredibly labor intensive, I've lost 21 pounds since the middle of November. I'm down to 192. Woohoo! It's amazing. Dad even said that he can really see that I've lost the weight.
So that's my story!4 -
So thanks to Matt's insurance I can now get free virtual psychiatry appts. I had my first one this morning and it was amazing! My new doctor is great! And has a hell of a resume. She was the director of Bellvue Mental Hospital at one point. Lol. Like, I'm really impressed. She was amazed that my GP had been prescribing me meds for 2 years. And at some of the dosages he had me on. So she's really happy that I'm seeing her instead of my GP for my medication managment. Lol. I actually cut myself back from one of my meds before starting to see her and I think that might have also helped me lose some weight. She's going to start switching some of my meds around so that when I get pregnant it'll be safer for the baby. Anyway, I'm really liking her! We have a follow up appt in 2 weeks to see how I'm doing. She's stepping me down off one of the meds so she wants to make sure that everything's going alright. And seeing as how they're all free I don't mind at all. Lol.
So that's the newest thing that's happened to me today. Lol. Onto some goals.

Yes sorry I read the news after I posted that this morning! I really dislike trump, he seems very toxic and acts like a big girl throwing a tantrum because he didn't win the election.
Tbh I'm completely clueless when it comes to politics and all that and even more so when it comes to American politics because you have different rights to us, but I'm not sure why people voted him in in the first place and why people are still pro-trump, especially recently with him being convinced the elections rigged etc.
Our newspapers are basically saying that Trump basically incited them to storm the Capitol building, is that true?1 -
Late getting on MFP today, but posting nonetheless. Yesterday watching news from the US Capitol, I could not believe what was happening, and I was so incredibly horrified, angry, sad & scared for our country. Helped that I took time to attend church service yesterday evening, that helped calm me after the earliest news.
Then this a.m. oldest brother called just before my alarm to tell me mom took dad to ER with abdominal pains. Dad is 86yo & two-time cancer survivor so very scary during a pandemic. Within 90 minutes I got text that diagnosis was kidney stone. Several hours later I learned dad was home, had been given morphine, other meds on order & he was cooking spaghetti! Thank God for healthcare people! Sister/her hubby, aunt will visit today (masked of course) so I will call later (I live 90 miles away).
Recap 1/6 W ~ interrupted sleep & skipped treadmill before work
1) Move hourly / stairs breaks (3 floors) 13/14 & 11.4k
2) Prelog meals & snacks / net cals zero / 14c water / NO evening snacking! not great but better day considering no workout & net cals -320 sodium not so bad & 12c water
3) Work in conference room: AJNH / keep up with emails / lug stuff home for rest of week = 3/3
4) Drop mail at Post Office / read Advent/Epiphany booklet / 7:00 church for Epiphany service / Calm or Fitbit meditation / one chore = 4/5
5) UNPLUG 9:00 / FLOSS / RETAINERS / Voltaren / 7:00 alarm (treadmill before work from home) = 5/5
JFT 1/7 R
1) Treadmill 3.11 mi great to burn cals & relieve stress
2) Move hourly
3) Meals & snacks prelogged / net cals zero / 14c water
4) Work at home: resolve VPN/H drive issue / webinar 2:00-3:00 (pace) / figure out next steps AJNH / keep up w/ emails / PRO s/s daily update
5) Call mom & dad in evening / Calm or Fitbit meditation / make white chicken chili / wash dishes / one other chore
6) Unplug 9:00 / floss / retainers / Voltaren / 7:00 alarm (treadmill before work from home)
2021 Goals:1) Weight 150#Word for 2021: Gratitude ~ be mindful of & appreciate my many blessings
2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
3) Post weekly weigh-in on JFT for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I peek occasionally other days. My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
4) Take measurements & log on MFP every month end ~ remember this year!
5) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x) ~ mostly walking but include weights/circuit & other x-training
6) Participate in race or challenge events even if virtual ~ started MapMyWalk You Vs. Year 1021K on Jan. 1 / virtual 50 Mile Frenzy 11.27.20 - 1.15.21 (replaced Frenzy on the Fox for Jan. 2021) 50.37 miles 12.17.20 and continuing to log / Tour de Northeast WI virtual challenge: cover distance from Oshkosh to Gills Rock (139 miles) 1.1.21 - 3.31.21
7) Be considerate and loving to hubby and have fun together ~ excellent goal last year that should be repeated
8) Make efforts to keep in touch with parents, siblings and friends (most live in other towns or states) ~ had this goal in 2020 and how ironic
9) Declutter bedroom, home office and basement ~ made good progress in 2020 & want to keep it up5 -
@Bex953172 I think most of America agrees with you now.
@cschmitz110515 I'm so glad that your Dad is okay! That had to have been very scary!
So I'm on register today which means I dont really do much movement and I forgot to take off my watch T.T So every time I scan something it counts it as a step. I am waaay off base today. Lol.2 -
Thursday
- Drink 4 waters ❌ 3 today, I would have another but I don't fancy getting up at 6am for a wee again 😂
- Log all food ✔️ I didn't eat anything healthy though, McDonald's AND half a pizza. But I'm still within my calories?!
- Walk dog✔️
- Take meds ✔️
- clean inside of car? ❌ I was too cold in the house so no way I was going outside lol!
I think that period when I couldn't physically eat through stress has helped me survive on much less food. We'll not even survive, I just stop when I'm full now, I don't really eat mindlessly.
The fact that I've had a burger and pizza today and had breakfast and I still have 200 cals left makes me realise that I was eating WAY more than my body needed in the past.
I wanted to ask, is anyone here vegetarian or even better vegan?
It's Veganuary in the UK so I'm trying it out (you know, except the burger) it is HARD but I also feel a lot healthier on the days I only eat plant based foods.
I've already switched my milk, butter and cheese for vegan alternatives.
Just thinking what do people use mostly to bulk up meals, is it stuff like lentils and chickpeas etc?

He lost by 7,000,000 votes. He is trying to hold onto power by subverting our legal processes.
Bex, he is like Boris Johnson, but half as smart and 100 times more evil, with none of the nobility or decency. Johnson is a buffoon on purpose and as a strategy; Trump does it without even trying because he has the temperament of a spoiled 2-year-old.6 -

- Exercise 30 min

Yesterday did not go as planned, but it's ok. Tim forgot he had a meeting at church which put me on dinner duty. To be honest, if I don't exercise before dinner, it ain't happening. My weight was up from Wednesday, but Wed was an artificial low, chances are I didn't really lose almost 2 pounds between Tuesday & Wednesday.
Yesterday was really hard food wise, I was just hungry all day. I really wanted pizza and a beer, but didn't have room in the calorie budget for it. Once I get a craving like that, it is very hard to let it go, and nothing seems to satisfy it. I did have a small stack of pepperoni & a slice of provolone as a snack, but it just wasn't cutting it. I wanted the real thing. Basically, I did eat over my calorie allotment, but well within maintenance. It was an awful evening though. I did tell myself I could have pizza Saturday and that is helping a little. I allow myself one meal a week that is off plan, but don't binge. It helps me to have a plan so if I really really want something I don't have to say "No" I can say "Not right now".
Today my weight is creeping back down still over a pound since Tuesday. I'll take it.
