I have Covid 19

Took it serious from the beginning followed all the rules and extra ones, I didn't work because I stayed home to be a full time caregiver to my mom who has been sick for 4 years now, parkinson and dementia.
At first I thought we both caught a cold until her doctor said we should test her for covid, it came back positive for covid pneumonia for both of us and as of yesterday she is in the hospital and I'm at home.
No one at the hospital to support her from the family, she is confused and without us. The medical team seem nice and like their doing everything they can for her.
But this is so scary things will never be the same going forward, how can you fight off a disease like this and not get it again if you survive need to work, go to the grocery store and pharmacy just the basics.
The nurse said to me after I quarantine I need to order everything because more than likely I got it in one of these places just walking by someone.
More worried about my mom then myself.
I used gloves, sanitizer, mask stayed home 90 percent of the time. What else could we do.

I was the same, I was very careful and still got it. I wish you and your mom a speedy recovery! Both of you will be in my prayers.17

It happens, even when you are careful. Just keep going forward and you'll get through this. It's tough that your mother is hospitalized. Hope she gets out quickly. Take care of yourself and rest up. Best wishes.7

So sorry to hear this. Is there anyone that can run and pick up necessities you need? Maybe leave it at your door. Did you stock up at all on canned goods?
I’m not a religious person, but I find myself praying a lot now. I’ll keep you, your mother and others in my prayers. Please let us know how you’re doing. ❤️❤️10 -
I hope your symptoms stay light, and you mom is out of the hospital soon.
I caught it and gave it to my parents, which was scary. This was back in August and we’re all good now except my dad’s sense of taste is still very dull.12 -
I'm so sorry you and your mother are going through this and I hope you both recover fully.
Most people will think my precautions are too extreme, but here it is: I haven't been inside a store since March. Everything that comes into my house gets disinfected or washed. When I hug my son we both wear masks and then I shower and wash my clothes. I treat frozen foods as a biohazard until they are fully cooked (like I would raw meat). I don't eat out or get takeaway.
I have a P100 half-face mask and ventless goggles to wear in an emergency like having to take my parents to the hospital. FYI: this kind of mask is much more comfortable than N95 masks and the replaceable filters are good for 40 hours of use.
Again, I hope your mother is home with you soon.5 -
You know, you did the best you could do under the circumstances. It’s not like you could see the spiky little bugger creeping up behind you. You should be proud of the extensive efforts you took to keep your mom safe.
Sincerest wishes for a mild case and speedy recovery for you both.
What times we live in.13 -
I"m so sorry that you and your mom got sick. You did your best to protect each other so please don't blame yourself. I hope you have a mild case and recover quickly and your mom recovery goes smoothly. I'll be sure to add you both to my prayers. Take care!

Prayers of support for you and your mom. This pandemic is maddening ... the media and political blitz make you think if you wear your mask and do exactly what they say.. you won't get it. Not true.. most people who get it are mask wearers and do their very best .as you did. It is a virus that is random and unpredictable.
Take your vitamin C, your zinc...and vitamin d3... if you don' have it.. sign up for instacart and have it delivered from one of your drug stores. You can also have your groceries delivered by them as well.
The hospitals are much better at the treatments now.. so. your mom getting COVID at this time, means the best treatments/theraputics are now available and doctors know more of what they're doing. That wasn't the case six months ago. ]
Stay positive.. take care of yourself.. I know of 11 people.. including a 99 year old and an obese woman with diabetes who recovered from the virus.

Wishing you and your mom the very best in recovery!! It sounds like your mom will be taken good care of and you need to take care of yourself as well.
Will be thinking of you; please keep us updated.
Not seeing your mom makes it more worrisome and probably leaves you feeling completely helpless; are you able to video chat at all? {HUGS} to you all3 -

Thank you for your kindness, all I've done now is sleep my days away. Besides being on the phone with family, friends and the hospital regarding my mom.
I see how easily this can happen, can't even narrow it down where it came from, frustrating and upsetting. I've spent to many nights woke, because of sleeping all day.
Again best to you and thanks for your words of encouragement.8 -

There was someone who could but they've been exposed as well.
I used instacart yesterday, its not ideal but I got most of what I needed and we were already stocked with some can foods. So I should be okay for a while. Now to see how quickly I can get my prescriptions delivered.
Thank you for your prayers and kindness as well, I've been praying for us as a world collectively it's needed.6 -
Please keep us updated, we're all in this together and I think if I get it I will really need my online communities, so I hope we can be of comfort.
How are you feeling generally?3 -

Sorry to hear your family had it, its good to know people who are recovering, your dad can't taste. Its weird I can't smell and had a burning nostril sensation.
How long did it take yall to recover?
My mother fever is broken, she's coming along slow still lethargic and they can't seem to keep her woke to eat and talking about a nose tube to feed her, if she doesn't come around in a day or two. This is very upsetting.
My symptoms are nothing compared to this, I have chest pain, because its pneumonia, some pain, loss of smell. But between alot of rest I'm up an about the house.
Again glad you and your parents are well, all the best to you.13 -

No you don't sound extreme, sounds very necessary, where are you finding these mask? because most n95 were no longer being sold to the public and if so there fakes.
I hope she's home soon also, thank you for your kindness and sharing Take care.1 -

I got my mask on Amazon back when the Ebola scare was big. (I've always been cautious.) It's 3M 6391 P100 and the filters are sold separately. The price has gone up quite a bit since then. I don't know if it would be worth it for you as hopefully you both will have immunity now.1 -
Oh bless you, I hope your mum's picking up
We caught it just before Christmas
My daughter is on the extremely clinically vulnerable list here (UK)
We shielded with her for 5 months and then we're told she had to return to school, the government, local council and NHS said schools were safe, that she had to attend school but no where else.......
Yep she caught it from school. The headteacher rang to apologise, most of her year group had to be sent home just before we tested positive
The burning sensation in my face and lungs has been driving me to distraction along with the constant bad headache and fatigue kicking my butt19 -

It took me 2 weeks to test negative, but months to fully recover.11 -
Your mom must be very thankful for a daughter like you.

My husband is in respiratory. We’ve moved 3 times so he can teach high risk areas and hospitals about the virus and how to use the newest ventilators. I usually don’t comment on posts like this, but your comment is not only incorrect but irresponsible. I know you mean well, and I’ve enjoyed your posts so far that I’ve seen, but please don’t continue to spread this myth. He is working diligently to correct this type of misinformation.13 -
Thank you everyone for your prayers, kind words and thoughts and sharing your experiences with covid 19.
My mom is home she spent 3 nights in the hospital , they sent her home as soon as she was stable and because they didn't want her to get any secondary infections considering her regular chronic conditions. She is almost back to her regular base line, I was severely afraid for her. The hospital sent home care nurses to check on her and her doctor has been calling .
I feel much better , though oddly I still have a little sniffles and chest pain subsiding from the pneumonia. Spoke with my doctor a few times since I was in the ER, not alot to say besides have to give it months to feel 100%. And though quarantine is up for us ,we'll continue to quarantine for longer. Especially since there are other variants of this disease and in California neither one of us can get the vaccine yet.
Again thank you everyone for your care and concern

Thank you for the information, my daughter purchased N95 from the medical supply store $70 for 20 and they say one time use.
The doctor's say you aquire some immunity, but not guaranteed. She said she talked too 1000 patients who had covid 19 and only 2 were re infected. So the odds seem good for immunity.
Id like the vaccine though.🤗❤

Thank you and your family as well, good you sheltered I. Place with your daughter, because this disease is horrible. I'm not surprised she got it from school, to many people and kids are always touchy Feely.
I know what you mean about burning, my nostrils were burning also and I had the headaches and was very tired. No burning now, but I half way can smell and the covid pneumonia left me with a little chest pain still.
We're slowly healing, but much better. Take care 🙂 ❤

Thank you, she was taken good care of , the nurses and doctors called us everyday regarding my mom no video chat as she really doesn't talk much with her dementia and she mosty slept while there. I could tell when she came home, how well they cared for her. I appreciate every medical personnel for doing what they do,especially in these times.
Yes I did feel completely helpless but those calls helped.
Thank you for your care and concern.❤
