Tried that haha. It's absolutely fine today so for now I'll watch and wait. Rest assured ANY signs again and I'll go straight to ED.3 -

Well, I can make my goal if I do 9.6 miles tomorrow instead of the 9 I was planning. I guess a few tenths more won't hurt me.
It was a really nice morning for a run here. I missed the rain and it was cool but now is 81 F outside and so humid. Glad I was able to get out early.9 -
Thanks @skippygirlsmom . The appointment with the cardiologist is Tuesday, not Monday, FYI. Glad you got to walk the dogs. I'm sure they enjoyed it.
Great running @martaindale ! Glad you got out before the rain started.
My cousin is still doing good, but had some nausea today. So, they are going to wait until Monday to discharge him to make sure he is okay and doesn't relapse.
Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers. I just love how supportive this group is with all aspects of our lives.

I intended to leave work pretty early today but it didn't happen. So I took the dog out with me after work and we had a most unsatisfying run. Poor Stella, being rushed along and grumbled at the whole way when all she wants to do is smell everything. Poor me, being yanked to a stop every few minutes and trying not to let the neighborhood see me lose it at my sweet dog. Finally we got back home and I tossed her back in the house and finished up the last .75 miles on my own at a much more aggressive pace.5 -

Woke up this morning to the sound of rain on the roof. Checked the weather radar; looked like it was going to rain until about 10:30, so I decided to use the treadmill. Treadmill said "LUBE." So I got the necessary tools, materials and equipment to lube the treadmill. By then, the rain had stopped; looked at the weather radar again and the rain was done. Low 40s F with a little west wind; debated shorts and tech shirt, but went with regular gear minus wool hat and gloves. Lots of red winged blackbirds; saw a robin (think it was a winter holdover); and the chipmunks are out of hibernation as well.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2021 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
PUT THE FUN BACK IN THE RUN!

Rainy morning for a run, but at least it wasn't cold. Always say, I like running in the cold and I like running in the rain. I just don't like running in cold rain.

@shanaber, coincidence on the Radiohead in your feed. We must have manifested that.

Woke up expecting my least favorite running weather - I'm with you on the cold rain @Tramboman - and was pleasantly surprised it was NOT raining and the forecast had pushed it back to this afternoon. It was around 37F when I got in my car to head out to the park and seemed quite pleasant for running. But I neglected to factor in the wind off the lake which made things a LOT colder. At least in the out section of our run, it was mostly a headwind and very unpleasant. When we turned around though it seemed so much better I actually took off my jacket. I only did 5 miles today because I wanted to get to a class at the gym and then go out for brunch (priorities!).
I wasn't sure I was going to make this month's goal but I should be able to get 3.1 tomorrow. My Sunday running buddy always wants to do 5k as her goal distance every time we run so that's perfect actually. I guess we better have a March thread! I'll head over to set one up unless someone beats me to it.3 -

Okay, wow, it’s already the end of February!
Should have run today but it’s cold and rainy and my hip hurts. I’m actually a little freaked out about the hip, hope it’s not something serious. It was aching from running in the snow, then I dropped a weight on myself which didn’t seem to do anything to my hip although it did other parts, ran 10k the next day without hip pain, then the next day which was a rest day it started hurting. Took another rest day, did some yoga and light cardio and it started REALLY hurting. Still hurting on rest day three. I spent hours panic googling stuff like “what does a hip stress fracture feel like.” Miss the days when going to the clinic wasn’t potentially deadly. Hoping it is just deeply bruised and had a delay in really starting to hurt, since my shin is still purple from having weight dropped on it.
I can’t say this was a great month, didn’t even get my 100k thing on Strava and I usually get the 200k one! But still here, kept running through inclement weather, which is a victory. And I got a nice time in for my personal road race 8k.
Speaking of my private Winter Series, the actual official series is running the 10k at Shelby Farms tomorrow - during what is supposed to be all day thunderstorms, and a flood watch, and it is in fact an area that floods. So, good luck to them, but I’m glad I’m not gonna be out there! The 8k at Stanky Creek was supposed to be the 14th then postponed to the 21st then postponed to the 7th of March, so now the shorter race will be run after the longer race.
Assuming my leg doesn’t fall off between now and then, I plan to run the 10k cross country course on Monday, which ought to be nicely churned up mud the day after the official race! This course has always been right at the limit of my stamina and I have had two weeks of basically not getting ready for it, so it ought to be fun.7 -
@ContraryMaryMary were you planning on doing around the Bays this morning?! I'm absolutely gutted for you!
NZ is once again in light lockdown due to that shall not be named. And Auckland is even worse off. Not full lock down but fairly strict. I got lucky last week with my HM happening between lockdowns
7 -
@rheddmobile Sorry your hip's hurting! I hope it is nothing serious and feels better soon. I hope it isn't coming a thunderstorm during the race tomorrow. That could be dangerous and would make me a no show. I hope you are able to run the course on Monday.

Monthly Total: 55.75/56 miles
It was a cloudy, misty day today. Not one that I wanted to walk in. So, I opted for the treadmill. I really wasn't feeling energetic, so gave myself permission to stop at one mile, but once I got going, I felt better. I did a ladder again today, from 3.3 mph to 3.6 mph and back down, spending 5 minutes at each level.

Yep, 0.3 miles short of goal. I don't even care. My run this morning was one of the worst I have ever had. I walked a lot and most of the running miles were about a minute slower pace than normal for me. My planned route had a turn that would have given me those last few tenths, but by then I just wanted the run to be over.
So much for a confidence building long run before my HM next week. I guess that means the actual race can't be any worse than this run!12 -
@martaindale Sorry you had a bad run. Those days happen to all of us. Don't let it take away your confidence for your race. Normally, after I've had a bad run day the next one is fantastic!5

Yes @martaindale the next run will be MUCH better. Typically when I have a terrible run, the next one seems to always be a redemption run 😉3 -
@rheddmobile hope your hip is okay! Take it easy.
@martaindale sorry about your bad run. It happens! Shake it off, as they've said already I bet your next one will feel really good. I would take it really easy before your HM too so you feel fresh and strong on race day.2 -
February is done with 214.3km. It’s been a good month with one half completed and only missed scheduled run (ballet did something to my left hamstring tendon!).
Next month has another half (lockdown permitting) but more of a focus on building up to my main event, the Waterfront Half in April.7 -

Whoop whoop I'm so excited about Waterfront! I got an air bnb 10 min walk to the start line, going to be good.
As long as people behave *shakes head sadly*4 -

I tried a new route yesterday, was wanting to find a way to to a closer forest I saw, that didn't require me to be on the main road [very busy with no sidewalk]. There's construction on the one road I needed, but they had their barriers moved away for the weekend and my route worked great! Also, I passed a cool "Palace" turned hotel on the way. There are more paths to explore in the forest, but for now I went through, made a big circle around a mine and came back through the neighborhood for around 14 km.
Wasn't even paying attention all month, but it turns out I just made my goal!
February Goal 169k
See you in March!

After I got home from work yesterday, I managed to get in 3 miles and a short walk with the dogs. It was sunny and 75F, so very nice, a little too warm even. The cherry blossom trees are starting to bloom, so it is very pretty outside. My city has the most Yoshino cherry trees outside of Japan, and we have a big festival every year. It was cancelled last year, so they are trying to modify it this year so people can enjoy “pandemic-style.” We’ll see what that looks like.7
-
@polskagirl01 Glad you are finding new places to run. That hotel sounds fun.
@marisap2010 Nice run. Cherry blossom's are really pretty. I hope they figure something out.

I finished out the month just squeaking past my 100 mile goal this morning. It was an okay run, but ended up having to run alone after my friend had to cancel so I had trouble motivating to get out the door. It was 30 F which didn't feel too bad but there was definitely black ice on the roads so I had to take it slowly in many spots.
