Reason #1. To live a life free from pain.
Back pain, joint pain, weak knees, aches in my feet and ankles often keep me from enjoying my life to the fullest. I feel old and sluggish. The pain gives me just another excuse to stay on the couch. But today I choose to face the pain, to rise above it, to work to alleviate the pain rather than succumb to it. Every day I’ll get stronger, lighter and one day closer to a pain free life.

Yes! Reducing the aches and pains is a big one! All the extra weight puts such a strain on the body.
Kind of along the same line is more energy.
Also, fat is hot dude. I live in the south and I'd really love to get rid of this "insulation."
I have an 18 month old who deserves a mom who doesn't struggle to get up off the floor, or get winded after just a few minutes of rough housing or dancing. I also want her to see strength and health as a goal, rather than focusing on a perfectly aesthetic figure.14 -
To be active my entire life and not just while I’m young. To take care of my body so it can last.
To have more energy to live life to its fullest. ⚡️14 -
Day 2 of 100 Reasons Why:
To change my relationship with food.
I need to use food as fuel instead of a reward or a crutch. I turn to food when I’m sad, when I’m stressed, when I’m bored. Eating is a celebration! Birthdays, holidays, dinner dates, anniversaries. Good report card? Let’s eat! Promotion at work? Let’s eat! Had a rough day? Let’s eat! Nothing to do on a Friday night? Let’s eat! I fill my days with my next meal or snack or treat. Eating in general is not a bad thing. But the quality and quantity is where my problem lies. I need to teach myself this important lesson: I do not live to eat but rather eat to live. Eat food to nourish, energize and replenish. Eat when hungry and stop when satisfied. Overeating is a tough habit to break but I’m taking it one day at a time!23 -
Because I want to follow Jesus’ example of how to live. Self-control and self-discipline leads to being able to endure and overcome any of life’s ups and downs.22

To live the best life I can possibly have. Shine my light and be an example to my family6

Day 3 of 100 Reasons Why:
To breathe easier.
At my weight I can get out of breath while completing the smallest tasks. Things like putting on my socks and shoes, shaving my legs, reaching around to clasp my bra in the morning can be difficult. I’m looking forward to the day when these everyday tasks can be as simple and easy as breathing!9 -
Day 4 of 100 Reasons Why:
For more energy.
Next year I’ll be turning 40! By then, I hope to be able to run laps around my old 39-something year old self!!10 -
Day 5 of 100 Reasons Why:
To live a long life.
Today is my mom’s birthday. She is an indispensable part of our family and I don’t know what we would do without her! She does so much for my brother and me and is always there for her grandkids. I want to be like that some day. Healthy enough in my 70’s to be indispensable to my kids and grand kids. But I need to take better care of my health in order to achieve that goal. So here’s to my mom, her good health and my journey toward a healthy lifestyle!9 -
To live a long time and not be dependant on carers when I'm old.8

Day 6 of 100 Reasons Why:
For the compliments!
“Wow! You look great!!” I can’t wait until all my hard work shows, until people begin to notice and give me positive feedback. That will give me the motivation to keep pushing and keep working toward my goals.15 -
Day 7 of 100 Reasons Why:
To accomplish something that I’ve never been able to accomplish before.
I’ve been overweight since about the 2nd grade. Maybe not obese, not then, but certainly chubby. My mom allowed me to eat whatever I wanted and as much as I wanted. By middle school I was the biggest girl in my class. I was on the bigger side all through high school, too. At a size 14 I couldn’t shop at the stores in the mall where my friends shopped. Nothing ever fit me right. So what did I do? I ate my frustrations. By the time I was in my 2O’s I was depressed and obese. Two pregnancies later and I never looked back. I lost myself in motherhood, eating my way to almost 300 pounds. It seemed hopeless to ever lose that much weight so I gave up and ate some more. I had formed such an unhealthy relationship to good and eating. I loved eating so much. I loved eating all the wrong things. It was my comfort, my own sick form of therapy.
I’m not feeling hopeless anymore. I am re-evaluating my relationship with food. Eating only when hungry. Sticking mostly to foods that will nourish and energize. And most importantly, I am stopping when I no longer feel hungry. I am eating to live rather than living to eat. I will accomplish this monumental task. For the first time in my life I’ll be able to say that I did it!19 -
My husband. Women die earlier in my family than men in his (about a decade), primarily due to weight-related diseases, and the idea of him being alone just... Idk, it’s like a never-ending punch to my soul.
I also learned recently I may be entering perimenopause, and learning about the changes that come with it and how it can affect quality of life sets off a bit of panic. I want to be able to still enjoy five-hour walks in my 70s.11 -
Day 8 of 100 Reasons Why:
To be able to shop in regular stores.
I’ve been a 1X, 2X, 3X and more all my life. To be able to walk into any little store or boutique and buy something right off the rack would be a dream come true!13 -
1. I am getting healthier so I can hike uphill with my sister this summer. I almost died last year 🤣
2. So I don’t follow the pattern of my family and die in my 50’s of congestive heart failure due to obesity. I am 33 and got my weight down from obese to overweight at this point. My family’s problems start in the 30’s
3. I want to garden professionally and don’t have the ability to have sustained exertion right now
4. I want to feel pretty to myself again
5. Gotta keep up with my spawn... they are fast and untiring
6. When I was in middle school I saw a picture in a magazine of a lady trail running and jumping over a log in the path. It looked like flying, so free. I want to see if it really feels that way 😁19 -
I love all your reasons Azzne1 ❤️1

Day 9 of 100 Reasons Why:
To blow people’s minds!
Most everyone knows me as this sweet, always smiling, perpetually chubby girl but I want to see the look on the face of someone who hasn’t seen me in a while when I waltz in 50 or even 100 lbs lighter! I’ve got a high school reunion coming up in a few years and I’d love to attend in a better body than I ever had, even back in my school age days! I just want to show the world that anything is possible!!14 -
Day 10 of 100 Reasons Why:
To learn to love myself ❤️10 -
Day 11 of 100 Reasons Why:
For a better nights sleep. Between my sleep apnea, snoring and back pain I don’t get as much rest as I probably should. Losing weight will allow me to rest easier!5 -
Day 12 of 100 Reasons Why:
To ride roller coasters again 🙌🎢6 -
Day 13 of 100 Reasons Why:
For more energy ☀️3 -
Day 14 of 100 Reasons Why:
To clip my toenails without breaking a sweat 😂12 -
Day 15 of 100 Reasons Why:
To learn to eat to live instead of living just to eat.
For years I lived my life from meal to meal, snack to snack, constantly looking forward to the next time I would eat. I love eating. It makes me happy, it calms me, it quiets all my stress and anxieties, it distracts me from difficult things, it is my drug of choice. I am an addict. Unlike a typical addict I can’t quit my addiction because my substance of choice is necessary to live. Instead I need to change my mentality. I need to seek peace and comfort elsewhere. I need to understand that food is meant to fuel my body not calm my anxiety or ease my stress. Avoiding trigger foods helps but every day is a struggle. But one day I will have the strength and the discipline to use for as it is meant to be used, as nourishment, and not to abuse food, or my body, in the way that I always have before.13 -
To live my best life! To be an example for my kids of living well and treating others and myself with respect...7
-
Day 16 of 100 Reasons Why:
For my kids ❤️
I’ve always been a pretty active parent in my kids lives despite my weight. We would go to theme parks and apple picking and spend days at the beach, go on long bike rides, climb mountains (small ones), take nature walks, play mini golf and whiffle ball and basketball. At 300+ lbs these things were difficult and sometimes draining for me, but I always did it.
Now that they’re older they don’t want to spend as much time with dear old mom (Teenagers! Go figure!!) but I worry more about the future now...seeing them graduate, dropping my daughter off at college (3,000 miles away, if she has her choice!), dancing with my son at his wedding, playing with my grand babies somewhere down the line. I need to be there for all those things and more. That’s why I need to make my health a priority now. Because even though it doesn’t seem like it right now, my kids will always need their momma and I want to be there for them for as long as I possibly can ❤️13 -
Day 17 of 100 Reasons Why:
To crush my goals, burn off the fat, lift myself up, and run circles around the old me!7 -
Day 18 of 100 Reasons Why:
For people to look at me and see ME.
When you’re obese people around you see you differently. They see your weight, they see a person who makes unhealthy choices, someone who must be me lazy, they look down on you, judge you & other times they see right through you, as if you’re not worthy enough to even exist. First impressions are everything. I want people to see that there is so much more to me than just this big, bulky, awkward body.13 -
Day 19 of 100 Reasons Why:
Because if I don’t make significant changes to my diet now I fear that I could easily balloon to five or six hundred pounds before I even realize it. My previous way of living was mostly sedentary and I must’ve been eating thousands of extra calories. I can longer look away, avoid what I’ve been doing to my body, or continue saying, “I’ll start tomorrow” or, “Monday will be the start to my new diet”. I need to start now. Make sustainable changes. I need to nip these poor habits in the bud before I let myself become too far gone.8 -
Day 20 of 100 Reasons Why:
For the compliments!8 -
I want to be happy.
I want to feel pretty.
I want to love and not hate myself.10
