Day 44 of 100 Reasons Why:
To be able to hop out of bed after a god night’s sleep and feel like a million bucks not a bounced check!
I’ve always been a morning person but the aches and pains in my back because of my weight make me move slow in the morning. My feet ache when I get up to walk and feel much older than my 38 years.
Someday I’ll be lighter and pain free in the morning!6 -
To stop hurting so much!!3
-
To feel better physically
To move faster
To be able to keep up with family kiddos
To get off meds
To be healthier4 -
@Get_Back_To_Feeling_Good that is my number #1 reason! ❤️1
-
@yweight2020 good reasons!! ❤️2
-
Day 45 of 100 Reasons Why:
To become more disciplined in making healthy choices. To move past trying to motivate myself daily and allow healthy habits to form. To become addicted to exercise and healthy foods and feeling good. To turn a few months worth of good choices into a lifelong commitment to myself and my health.4 -
This is a brilliant thread, WaterLily82
Here are some of mine:
I'm climbing a mountain in the summer. I climbed one last summer and was in PAIN on the way down. I want to be stronger for that descent.
The first 15 pounds off helped my agonising plantar fasciitis. Maybe the next 15 will get rid of it all together.
I want my asthma to vanish. It's way better since losing the first 15. Maybe the next 15 will see it off.
I really REALLY want to be able to wear clothes I like not just ones that hide the right bits.
I LOVE feeling strong.
I LOVE being able to walk normally and not have my knees and feet pushed into odd angles by the weight I carry on my thighs.
More energy!
Self-acceptance when I glance in the mirror instead of thinking: who is that? how did that happen?
This one is a bit sad but: I am SO tired of being the fattest person in the room. Always the fattest one in meet-ups with friends. One of the triggers for my weight loss journey was having a photo taken at a friend's birthday celebration. I thought I looked good that day. When the photos came - I looked like a massive monster that planned to snack on my friend. She was less than half my size.

@cherys I love this list! So many great reasons to stay motivated!! ❤️1

Day 46 and 47 of 100 Reasons Why:
(I missed yesterday somehow! LOL)
46: To feel powerful 💪🏻
47: With summer comes comes chafing! The rub is real!!7 -
I love this. Thank you for the thread. My top reasons are health related. I don’t want to get diabetes. I don’t want to have joint pain. It should help with the gout( gout ffs!). Lots of IBS type issues, most of which miraculously disappear when I eat less, but better food.
My other reasons are mainly shallow, wanting to weigh less than my husband, wanting to look nice at my daughters wedding, wanting to wear pretty clothes. But also, wanting to get through my days without being assailed by shame about my obesity, and fear that it will get worse.9 -
@sandramarshall200 great reasons!! A lot of mine are health related too but shallow reasons are just as powerful! Who doesn’t want to look nice and get compliments? So many great motivators to keep working toward our health and weight loss goals ❤️3

Day 48 of 100 Reasons Why:
To be able to put my socks on without pulling a muscle in my back and/or gasping for air 😂4 -
Day 49 of 100 Reasons Why;
To thank my body for all it has done for me!
This body has carried me all through my life, all the ups & downs, created and birthed two beautiful babies, stood tall through the good and the bad, it has walked endless miles, biked wooded trails, climbed mountains, given countless piggy-back rides, weathered the rain, snow, sun & sleet. It has been good to me and it is about time I appreciate this old body and treated it well.4 -
Day 50 of 100 Reasons Why:
For water parks!
I love taking my kids to our local water park but while they run up the stairs to each water slide I sit in the sun or wade in the pool below, waiting for them to come down. All those stairs are always just too much for me. And I feel so big and awkward in the tube or on the rubber mat that I avoid the slides altogether. I’ll float in the wave pool or lazy river but someday soon I want to join my kids racing up the stairs and flying down the water slides screaming in delight!7 -
Thank you for this thread WaterLily82! Just what I needed. My reason today mirrors many of the previous posts. I have a 12 week old new bionic hip and have just lost a loved one, both are keeping me in the endorphin-less space. It will get better, but for today - I want to wear my cut off jean shorts out of my house. They currently zip, but should not see the light of day.7
-
@WaterLily82 - Waterparks for sure! I was always too afraid to go down a tube slide for fear that I would get stuck, al a Homer Simpson in the "Splash Mountain" episode. But the open slides were just as scary - the more you weigh, the faster you go. Love your reasons. Keep them coming.3

Day 51 of 100 Reasons Why:
To be fupa free 🤣6 -
@andimickey I'm so sorry about the loss of your loved one 💔
I’m glad this thread is helpful to you! Thinking about “Why” we are on this journey is so helpful!! It’s motivating and keeps us mindful when we may be feeling tempted. Keep those cut off jean shorts in the back of your mind, you’ll be strutting around in them in no time!!2 -
@speyerj OMG the Homer Simpson visual 😂😂😂 I never imagined myself getting stuck now it’ll be all I think about!! LOL3
-
Day 52 of 100 Reasons Why:
To find out if my face shape is something OTHER than just round!5 -
@WaterLily82 thanks so much for this thread!
To regain my swagger
To wear all the cute clothes in my closet.
To see my feet again! My belly has expanded greatly this past year
4 -
@bebeisfit love those reasons!! Especially getting your swagger back! Get it, girl 💕2
-
Day 53 of 100 Reasons Why:
To climb mountains 🏔
Currently there’s no way I’d be able hike up a mountain at my weight. And getting back down? With MY knees?! I’d be better off sitting on my butt and scooting! But someday, once I’ve lost enough weight to take the pressure off my knees, I hope to be able to get to the very top and enjoy the gorgeous views and the fruits of my labor.5 -
Day 54 of 100 Reasons Why:
To make a good first impression.
Humans are very visual creatures and when a person sees someone who is morbidly overweight many assumptions are made right off the bat. They probably don’t even realize they’re doing it. First impressions are very important and I am tired of being judged and characterized a certain way because of the size of body rather than by my talents, my mind, my heart and the strength of my character.7 -
Day 55 of 100 Reasons Why:
To get in my boyfriend’s pants.
I stole a pair of my boyfriend’s pajama pants a few years back. They were soft and warm and baggy, perfect for lounging around the house! But lately they fit very snuggly, to the point of no longer being comfortable. If I lose a few more pounds they will once again become part of the perfect lazy Sunday attire!! I can’t wait to get back into those pants!7 -
Day 56 of 100 Reasons Why:
To fit in the booth at a restaurant6 -
Day 57 of 100 Reasons Why:
Because fat is hot!
With summer coming I want avoid being a sweaty mess but all this extra insulation just makes me overheat 🥵6 -
Day 58 of 100 Reasons Why:
I earned 3 Zone Minutes on my Fitbit trying to wriggle and squeeze into my bathing suit from last year 🤦🏻♀️4 -
@WaterLily82 thank you for this thread! I admit that I have stolen some of your ideas to make my own list, and am up to 15 reasons. I love that I can add to this and look back on it to motivate myself when I'm feeling down. This is a great idea, thank you so much for sharing.
- My partner has overhauled physically and mentally over the last few years so we can have a baby together. This is the change I have to make, this is my contribution, for our mutual happiness, so we can start a family together.
- To prove my partner’s faith in me is not misplaced, that I am committed to our goal, and our relationship, and improve our relationship generally.
- To stop ignoring my body, get out of the rut I am in, and do something to better myself and change something about myself that is wholly within my own power to fix. To knuckle down, push through, and get it done. No more excuses!
- To stop feeling all these niggles, aches, and pains – back aches, plantar fasciitis – and thereby stop whingeing about them. To feel sprightly in the mornings, to be able to get up and get on with my day without limping.
- To feel the same body temperature as everyone else, and not sweat like a pig and be hot and uncomfortable all the time even when it’s cold out. To be able to wear long sleeved tops to work without overheating in the air conditioning.
- To change my relationship with food. To eat only when hungry and stop when satisfied. To acknowledge that overeating is not normal, and to learn to eat smaller portions and to stop eating when I’m full, even if there’s still food on my plate. It doesn’t matter that it might be a bit wasteful to leave the food, it doesn’t HAVE to be eaten, it’s OK to leave some behind.
- To get fitter so I’m not out of breath so quickly.
- To be more flexible, e.g., comfortably paint my toenails, or scratch my back
- To be able to shop in regular stores and buy fashionable fitted clothes that aren’t the shape of sacks. To be able to wear button up shirts without needing to pin the gaps shut.
- To look and feel better in clothes, and out of them! So my partner will be more attracted to me, and I will be less ‘smothering’ when we cuddle.
- To go shopping to buy new clothes because everything I own is too BIG, with my head held high with pride, instead of because it’s all too tight.
- To be able to wear a skirt in summer and walk in the heat without chafing.
- To avoid obesity related medical issues in the future.
- For double-chinless selfies – loved this one!
- To walk lighter so that the house doesn’t shake, and the floorboards don’t creak
And I'm sure there's more to come as I think of them. I have bookmarked this thread6
