Day 21 of 100 Reasons Why:
With Spring in the air, I’d love to be able to paint my toes without getting winded, breaking a sweat and/or pulling a muscle in my back!6 -
Day 22 of 100 Reasons Why:
For before & after pictures! 📸7 -
@Waterlily82 - I love this thread. I love that you are holding back and only posting one per day too - it shows how much discipline you have. I love how others are jumping with their own reasons. I love that you are so full of hope. I can't wait for the next one and for reason 100.11

@speyerj Thank you so much for the sweet, sweet words! It makes me so happy to know that I may be inspiring others while trying to keep myself motivated ❤️ I always love to read the “Whys” of others and thinking of a new one every day reminds me to be mindful and keep moving forward even when it’s hard. Here’s to many more “Whys” to come!!6

Day 23 of 100 Reasons Why:
To give hope and inspiration to others fighting similar battles 💪🏻❤️👏🏻8 -
Because I can.
I have been overweight/obese since I was a child, but always knew that I was meant to be fit and healthy. I have had numerous failed attempts at trying to make a lifestyle change; losing and regaining significant amounts of weight. But I know that I can overcome this problem and I will.2 -
Day 24 of 100 Reasons Why:
To be able to travel more. At my weight just the idea of going on a plane makes my palms sweat. I’m not afraid of flying, in fact I’ve always loved plane rides. I’m afraid of fitting in the seat, having enough elbow room without imposing on my neighbor, and God forbid I fall asleep and snore like a hack saw IN PUBLIC! Someday I hope to be at a size where air travel is easy!9 -
^^ This!! Oh my goodness. I remember once being on a business trip, sitting next to my boss and realizing that I needed a seat belt extender to buckle up. The most humiliating moment of my life. If you have never read it, you might enjoy reading Lindy West's book Shrill. She has a whole chapter on flying and all the many humiliations it brings.
I haven't flown in more than a year, 'cause, you know, COVID, but the last time I flew I was down 55 pounds from my "seat belt extender" weight and it was so nice to have a bit of room at the hips. I can't wait to fly again now that I am down 125. Even the cheap seats will seem roomy!8 -
Day 25 of 100 Reasons Why:
So I can walk down the aisle.
I’m not engaged, if that’s what you’re wondering. I’m a school bus driver. And last year my town invested in 4 brand new buses and I got one! But, the seats are wider on my new bus making the aisle more narrow. Everyday I have to squeeze between the seats of my bus, turning sideways a bit to fit, bumping student’s backpacks or elbows all along the way.
One day I’ll be able to go to the back of the bus easily with room on either side to spare!!17 -
My Health. I have asthma, anemia, vertigo, plantar fasciitis, I can't wear heels anymore, chronic migraines, chronic back pain. All of which I have developed since I gained all this weight. I want to be able to run and play with my kids.11

My sister in law just got diagnosed with breast cancer. It's devastating, but motivating me to stop taking things for granted and take care of myself.15

Day 26 of 100 Reasons Why:
To look better at the beach.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the beach and I will go and wear my bathing suit and lounge and swim without a care in the world, no matter my weight. I live on Cape Cod and the beach is my absolute happy place! The sound of the waves, the smells, sand between my toes...I love it all! But to wear a bathing suit based on how cute it looks rather than how much material it has and how much of my body it will cover would be such a dream come true!!14 -
Day 27 of 100 Reasons Why:
For cut off jean shorts. For cute tanks & camis. For bright, colorful sun dresses.
For a Spring & Summer wardrobe that I can feel comfortable in!!12 -
Day 28 of 100 Reasons Why:
So I don’t jiggle when I giggle! 😂11 -
Day 29 of 100 Reasons Why:
To crush my goals! 👊🏻
I set a weight loss goal for myself for the month of March. I tried to be fairly reasonable about it, going for about 1 pound per week of weight loss, as to not overwhelm myself or get discouraged and quit trying if the scale didn’t move as quickly as I had hoped it would. So I was determined to lose 4.6 pounds from March 1st to April 1st and here we are on March 29 and I have lost....get this....14.2 lbs!!!!
It is THE most amazing feeling to crush those goals!!! Feels even better than eating an entire box of Devil Dogs!19 -
Day 30 of 100 Reasons Why:
To change my relationship with food.
I’ve always loved food. I already planning lunch and dreaming about dinner while I’m eating my breakfast. I use to love all the wrong things: Sausage egg McMuffins with hash browns, Boston cream donuts, pizza, footling steak and cheese subs, greasy fast food burgers, tubs of Ben & Jerry’s, little Debbie snacks, Doritos, double stuffed Oreos. You get the picture. And to be honest I still love those things, but at a distance. I’m learning to eat more mindfully, being aware of the nutritional value and weighing that with how bad I want it and I usually end up making a better choice. It’s just not worth it to me anymore!
I thought this journey would stamp out my love for food. I’d learn to eat to live and no longer live to eat, but I was wrong. I honestly still think about lunch and dinner and even breakfast tomorrow, planning it and getting excited for it. But these days my head is full of foodie dreams like scrambled eggs with tons of veggies, berries and granola mixed into my yogurt, turkey taco salads, roasted Brussels sprouts, oven baked sweet potato fries & tuna zoodle casserole. Healthy foods that tickle the taste buds and nourish my body.
I’m not sure whether my love of food is healthy or not, I still think about eating and what I’ll be eating often, but I’m getting to a better place. I am a work in progress after all and I am on a journey to find my perfect relationship with the foods I eat!11 -
Day 31 of 100 Reasons Why:

Day 33 of 100 Reasons Why:
To learn to love new, healthier things.
I used to look forward to Netflix marathons and extra large, extra cheesy pizzas but now I find myself looking forward to daily nature walks outside, exploring new paths and seeing new sights, roasted Brussels sprouts and even-as crazy as it sounds-5 am workout sessions!
Who is this girl?! 😂9 -
Day 34 of 100 Reasons Why:
For double-chinless selfies 📸11 -
Day 35 of 100 Reasons Why:
For more strength and more stamina so I can do more things!9 -
Day 36 of 100 Reasons Why:
Endorphins are no joke.
I never thought I’d be one to wake up at 4am for a workout. I laughed to myself as I saw my local cross-fitters jogging up and down my road dragging tires behind them on Thanksgiving morning and secretly hated anyone who shared a gym story or post workout selfie. But once I started hitting the gym regularly I’ve come to realize the amazing mood I find myself in as I drive home, minivan windows open, breeze blowing my hair, 90’s tunes cranking. The upswing in my mood after a workout is consistent. If I’m in a bad mood, I’ll go to the gym and feel 100% better afterwards. WHATTTT?! I know health junkies always talked about exercise being the cheapest form of antidepressant but I just figured all those tofu burgers and alfalfa sprouts had gone to their heads and addled their brains. But now I think they may have been on to something all along...
I still won’t eat tofu 🤢 but endorphins are REAL and they are no joke!!9 -
Day 37 of 100 Reasons Why:
To weigh less than my boyfriend ❤️9 -
Day 40 of 100 Reasons Why:

Day 40
1. I started losing
2 my stomach is not significantly bloated when I wake
3. I am proud to tell others I'm eating better5 -
@meraki6 I’m proud, too! I find that I walk around with just a slight pep in my step and I hold my head just a little higher when I’m making efforts to improve my health. Even if I don’t talk about it to everyone I see, I feel like maybe they can sense something different about me. And that motivates me!7
