@ladychr0nic ha, another Abbott and Costello pair! I'm 5'2" and my husband is 5'11", we've always been "short and round" and "tall and thin," even while we were dating. He's filled out some in the ten years we've been together, but he's never been fat like I have.0

@ladychr0nic
My husband is 6'5" and eats all the time, too. He snacks so much after dinner that I just go to the other room as it is easier for me. I also brush my teeth right after dinner so that I can complete my diary for the day.
I will be right there with you... logging everyday, forever amen!

Weigh in day yesterday, but I forgot, so today's number is 254.8 - making progress!
Thank you to all who post about their struggles! I know it's hard, but it is helping me to realize I'm not in this alone. I have been on the dieting roller coaster for my entire adult life, so I know I need to count calories forever if I want to reach and maintain my goal. Acceptance is a key step, and I'm finally there.
Now for the next steps... carry on5 -
Ok,here goes nothing!
First time ever commenting on a weight loss blog, but I need to admit, I need the help and motivation of others. CW is 199.4 and my goal weight is 175 by July (My big 5-0). If I can just dedicate and commit myself to being accountable in this forum, I'll be batting a thousand. I hope to keep my motivation as high as it is now and post in this forum next week.12 -

[quote= @kali31337 nice whoosh! It's good you have a backup dress just in case, but here's hoping you can make the original one work. I certainly hope it's a happy occasion, but even if it isn't, you deserve to feel good about yourself when you get dressed up.[/quote]
Thank you! It is for a bridal shower for my bestfriend so luckily, a fun event!0 -
@goal06082021 Awesome job!! I totally agree with you. MFP is not always accurate.
@girlinkaz Welcome and congrats on the loss!!
@Congrats on the NSV. I love the kettlebell workouts by Body Fit by AMY (I only do the 10-minute one once or twice a week though).
@wanderinglight Congrats on the non-family member employee!! I hope you enjoy your road trip and Happy Birthday in advance!! Congrats on being able to get the vaccine. I am waiting (impatiently) until it is my turn.
@candyz01 Welcome. You've got this!!
@Angief05 Congrats on the loss to date. Lifting boxes and reno work definitely count as both cardio and strength training in my opinion.
@Spotteddingo Awesome loss and that is a great NSV. that is over 3 inches lost in your waist alone. Congrats!!
@misplacedmama Sorry that you are feeling smothered. On the plus side, the kiddos are happy working out with you!!
@speyerj Congrats on the loss. I totally forgot about pie day!! Oh well. I will just enjoy the tamarind juice I made instead.
@Arralethe Congrats on the loss. Take it easy on yourself and gets lots of rest. I hope the side effects are done now.
@changeforeverlj OMG!! A year already!! Congrats! You have accomplished so much even with all that went on over the last year. I am so happy and proud of you and your accomplishments. You are an inspiration!!
@holdthefries Congrats on the loss. It is funny that you mentioned pantry and freezer food. I just told myself that I do not need to go to the grocery store or market this week as both my fridge and freezer are full of food that I need to eat!!
@sarah12277 Awesome job with the gym. Do you think the elliptical may be easier on your ankle? If it is, maybe you can do that while your friend uses the treadmill.
@ama3387 Awesome job! Congrats on the woosh!!
@ladychr0nic Welcome. You are definitely not alone. Even after I reach my goal weight, I will need to keep tracking to help me maintain and stay healthy!!
@kali31337 Congrats on the loss Kali
@brwnsuga6 Welcome. You have joined a great group.

Side update:
I made it to day 90 of meeting my step goal on Sunday. Yay!!
With the term heating up and me gearing up for quiz 2s (spread over 3 weeks - who thought of this) followed almost immediately by subject board exams/finals (3 huge exams in the same week) (all happening within the next month), I will try to read most posts and post my progress weekly. But, in the event I miss a post that requires my attention, please feel free to send me a message directly as I am more likely to see that.
Awesome job ladies!! Thank you all for being here and being so awesome!! We've got this!!9 -
@goal06082021
hahah yep I'm definitely the short and round one of the pair. Am used to it now! I'm hoping with some changes i'll weigh less then him one day.
@Spotteddingo
I like the idea of brushing your teeth!! I'm going to try that! Late night snacking is what is killing me. Ugh
@uyister
Yeah I think I just needed to make the realization that tracking everyday forever is the only way to do it. I keep losing and gaining and losing and gaining and that cycle is so hard on your body. Time to make a change and just stick to it.
@brwnsuga6
Welcome! This group is awesome
Today was a good, energetic day for me. I took my dog for a long walk by the river in the sunshine, and I was trekin. Got my heart rate up for sure. Then I came home and bagged 20 asbestos bags. Then I vacuumed and washed my floor. My apple watch is happy with me! Tacos tonight for dinner, so it should be pretty easy to track.
happy Tuesday everyone1 -
@changeforeverlj congratulations on a year of achievement.
Just went for another walk with my youngest and got out and got some sun. Need to drink some more today though. I read all the posts since I last posted. So just a small mid-week check in which I usually don’t get to during the week. Did well at meal planning and some cooking this week. I made lamb cabbage beet borscht last night which is sort of a new twist on a soup I used to make (beef cabbage borscht) and we got some apple pie for pie day.
I now avoid beef and turkey but can have fish, chicken, pork or lamb. We are starting to build up on left-overs so may not have to cook as much later in the week.4 -

Ugh, not sure what this gain is all about. I've been seeing 217s on the scale all week and then of course weigh in day it posts as 220.6. Hopefully it's just too much sodium or something similar.
Tomorrow we're getting a thermos of coffee and breakfast burritos and going on a short hike to do some bird watching at a nature preserve near our home. It's not quite the blowout celebration I had originally planned for turning 50, but there's always next year! Honestly I'm just so happy to be healthy and that my parents are vaccinated. And with my husband traveling for work as an essential worker so much, the fact that he's healthy is the best gift of all. So it will be a muted celebration but a celebration nonetheless.
On Thursday we leave for our road trip to New Mexico (Ruidoso) for my birthday. I've never been and I'm so excited! Weather looks perfect for some great hiking.8 -
changeforeverlj wrote: »@wanderinglight OMW your post resonated with exactly how I felt about celebrities during lock-down!! I got seriously sick of seeing them on the internet posting out of their mansions!!! UGH! Stretchy tight jegging pants are huge here, and I bought quite a few in the sales last year, they are all different kind of florals and you wear them quite tight, this morning a friend of mine made a few pairs smaller as they are still quite new. I haven't bought much either, but am enjoying just going into a normal shop and taking off the shelf, been 17 years of shopping in shops for larger ladies...much more expensive!!
That "Imagine" video with Gal Godot and a bunch of other celebrities was just the apex of tone-deafness! Yesterday I saw on Twitter that it was the one-year anniversary of that ill-conceived monstrosity...lol.0 -
@wanderinglight Happy happy 50th, wishing you a beautiful celebration hike and road trip and happiness and good health going into this new decade!! I love the idea of bird-watching and hiking!

Good morning everyone!
I missed logging my weigh in yesterday due to going home with a sick kiddo.
3/2- 226
3/9-222.2
3/16-219.4
3/23-
3/30-
Excited about my weight loss so far. I know it will not come off this fast when I get closer to my goal weight.
Exercise has been either cycling, hiking or just plan walking every day. Calories have been around 1800 a day with a few days under that due to being busy or not hungry.
I've made an effort to increase my water intake as well.
Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! (Oh and I plan on eating a Guinness cupcake with Baileys frosting because it's all about balance!)

I'm not in a good head space these last few weeks.. stopping and buying crap food again, I almost just faded off of MFP but I have to keep working at weight loss and health before I get sick from it... so back at it!!!!!8
-
@pearsonlinda30 I'm glad you checked in here! It's good that you were able to catch yourself slipping into old habits and made a choice to stop and course-correct. That's a victory and it's worth acknowledging!
This is usually around the time of year when I drop off the wagon, for whatever reason. I'm a serial resolutioner, so I start out on January 1st all pumped and ready to Get! My! *Kitten*! Together! and then I don't know if it's St. Patrick's Day in particular, or just fatigue after 10 weeks of weighing and tracking and counting, but it's happened basically every year for the past 5-6 years and I'm OVER IT. I had kind of an excuse last year because everything went to *kitten* in March 2020, it wasn't just me, but I'm not falling into that trap this year.6 -
They say find an exercise you love to do and I think I've found it. I went roller skating with my daught this past Saturday and had an amazing time...didn't fall either! I read that roller skating for one hour can burn about 500 calories and works all of your major muscle groups due to need to balance yourself. I was a bit sore in my abs, butt, and thighs...all of which needs the most work. I plan to go skating tommorrow if the motivation keep up. Thought I'd share the amazing benefits of roller skating, I know there's plenty of us who grew up doing it, but not so much in our older years.8
-
Oh man, @brwnsuga6 I haven't been skating in YEARS lol - my elementary school, in the 90s, would have "skating parties" about once a month at a local roller rink. I don't remember if it was supposed to be a fundraiser of some kind or if it was just a fun community thing the PTA organized. I was never confident on skates but I eventually got a pair of rollerblades that I got pretty good with.2

This week has been craptacular and its only Wednesday.
Went to my parents town because my dad was having surgery (my mom has Alzheimer's, early stages, mostly short term memory loss and broke her femur last year so walks with a walker) and so he needed me to be at hospital. get home and walking in the door and my mom needs to go to the bathroom. I told her to give a minute to put the bags I was carrying down and she went to their room anyway. She "forgot" she needed her walker and fell. Broke her OTHER femur. I ended up spending over 36+ hours awake with her in ER, getting admitted etc. Food diary for past two days was like WTF??? I tried to eat "mostly" healthy food but yeah.....
Weekend weigh in was down 2.5 pounds since march 1 but I suspect I just gained that all back!!
Onward right?
(PS mom is doing fine; they operated, installed three more pins in her body - bionic woman anyone? - and is in recovery at the ortho unit in hospital)10 -
@hap2go I'm glad your mom is OK!
You did not gain 2.5 lbs of fat in three days unless you ate almost 9000 extra calories on top of your TDEE, so, don't worry too much about that.1
