Good afternoon! Thankful for the coming weekend. I need to get my books sorted and entered for a curriculum sale. (mostly need to get my kids to help me enter them all) It feels good to finally be purging a lot of this stuff from my house.

Last night of practice this week. Heading with my daughter to the pool tomorrow morning. I don't know how much I'll swim, but even 500 meters is something. Still feeling a bit sleepy and tired this week, but I'm working through it.

It's my coffee break now ... going to make a fruit dip from vanilla protein powder and PB2 (mixing with water) ... I'll snack on that with an apple. That should take me to dinner (have a pork loin in the crock pot).

That is a good idea. I will try that. I buy really sweet opal apples and rarely put anything on them, but I need more protein that isn't meat, so that's a good alternative. Thanks!

I did a sleep study years ago and it was the best night's sleep I'd had in years. Obviously, they didn't find a reason I wasn't sleeping, but hopefully you get some answers.

    Welcome Gina!

I'm glad I burnt a lot of exercise calories today, because my eating wasn't brilliant. At least I used shiritaki noodles for my pasta dish, but pesto is stuffed with calories! :o Delicious though and bursting with broccoli, broad beans, peas, artichoke heart and a few large prawns.

Hoping to have a quick chat with my son before they set off for the half term break to the Isle of Wight. I want to remind him to book Sunday lunch for the 6th at Fatto a Mano. The weather is improving rapidly and looks set fair for the Bank Holiday weekend. That means day trippers, so we will avoid the seafront in the daytime. I may run 5k tomorrow morning early. My friends and I have an afternoon Zoom booked.

Debbie - The Alaska option sounds wonderful. I remember Pip 's amazing photos from that cruise. B) Would you consider going alone if no one can go with you? On our trips there are many single women who soon make friends. It is more expensive though. :*

"Get to do"s and "chose well"s
Chose well: Tues: BP, dogs to powerline. Wed: T’ai chi!!!, Recycling, Dog group!!!
Bonus: Tues: laptop to Doug, line dancing. Wed one load laundry.
Get to do: take BP, dogs to powerline, chiro, bottledrop, USE those torture bands/do that BB&B video, board meeting minutes, follow up with Dr re: Joe’s annual charges not covered 100%, watch for refund from Interpath for Joe’s labs paid on Feb statement call S, fire district: ongoing: input 2019 call sheets into NFIRS, work with chief on equipment letter, substance abuse policy, NFIRS mutual aid and other missing details, call Credit union re: credit card, ask for boots donator contact info, appreciation letter or certificate to boots donator, index mutual aid files; watch STAS Day 20, declutter sideboard, practice new dances (Do Your Thing, Pure Movies to Wine, Beer, Whiskey, I ain’t never gonna love nobody but Cornell Crawford (Alley cat), A Little Less Broken, One Margarita, I’m so used to being broke, All Night, Nothing but You, Blame it on my beating heart, Homesick); finish mulching flowerbed, invest another 10 minutes in prepping living trust, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, find and configure a screen time popup, figure out where to plant the last of the naked lady bulbs, and soon as it warms up above 50 and dries out below 60% humidity I’ll tape and spray paint those rusted areas of Aunt Elsie’s stove. Reconcile Joe’s EOB’s Thrivent shows only 2263.48 so far, next BGBS ask Terry about GB’s FD firetruck tax levy – contacts, media, advocate???, Reward: inventory seeds, plan this spring’s garden, wishlist replenishments (Milena F1 orange peppers).
    Meaningful May:
24: Recall three things you’ve done that you are proud of: chopping brush, working with Shadow and Tumble on “Down” and “Stay”, dragged my but back to T’ai Chi and danced the full two hours (minus 4 dances=DIYW, E, H and NBY).
25: Make choices that have a positive effect for others today: CHC.
26:Ask someone else what matters most to them, and why: hmm dare I ask Joe?
27: Remember an event in your life that was really meaningful: a FB friend posted a reminder of my retirement party 4 years ago today.

Did a little better at line dancing Tuesday night, danced all but 4 of the new ones, kept my mask on all evening as I know for a fact that at least two aren’t and won’t be vaccinated. Was the only person masked.

Took a chance yesterday morning and checked at the activity center. Yes, there was T’ai Chi! Only 4 of us, all fully vacced, and our county just went to lower risk so we were able to unmask. While probably verboten, we also hugged, the second and third hugs I’ve received in the past 15 months. So cheering!

Katla fingers X’d your DH is enthusiastic about the train trip across the country.
Tina so sorry for your loss. What you said to Heather. Truth.
Margaret ticks, ugh! Is there any way to keep her out of the tall grass/bushes where the ticks hang out? Oh I see that’s the plan. Yes and peppermint or even some diluted essential eucalyptus oil might discourage the dreadful things.
Welcome @dkginger in KP in AZ! We’re glad you’re here!
Ginny a little envious of your personal watermelon. I’ve been afraid to invest as think they might not be ripe/sweet enough yet…
Barbie thankful for Jake’s good news, and your delightful self-presents. Look forward to pics when they bloom.
Debbie adding my “little drama” and cooler than forecast prayers to yours. Your outfit looks just right. I wish you had a GF to go with you and your DH and his buddy, too. Could you take your Mom?
Heather I’m delighted to hear you booked the cruise and look forward to visiting Scandinavia and the Orkneys through you ;)
Machka sorry for the second Pfizer’s effect on you. Hope it passes quickly. Why can’t your DH get the Pfizer vac?
LisaK inVA prayers for your GSD(?).
Allie sorry Taliah was such a pill, and yes I remember those days too. Payback stinks. July seems a long time to wait for your sleep study… [sigh]
Vicki sending prayers for an easy delivery and everyone healthy.
Annie attagal, Walking and more water, yeah!
    Welcome @tinalongworth.
Ginger congrats on day one. Baby steps. Feeling overwhelmed is a sure sleep killer. Is there anything you can do when that feeling hits? I used to get overwhelmed by my to do list, so left a few dishe in the sink. If I woke and couldn’t get back to sleep because of the endless cycle of “I’ve got to”s, I’d get up, wash the dishes and be able to go back to sleep. Some people write the most pressing/overwhelming issue on a piece of paper and put it into a “God’s box”. Whatever works for you.
Lisa looking forward to a pic of your farmers’ market table ;) the look on Levi’s face!
KJ it sounds like you’re sending Kylia’s SIL to England ;)
Welcome @Marilynfan1926 Gina in NJ! This is a very very supportive (and chatty) group.

Time to shower and get up and at ‘em. If Its too rainy to walk I WILL DO THE MINUTES today, before the chiropractor.

Hmm. I have 358 calories left. I ought to eat a leafy green spinach salad before I go horseback riding. Or more protein maybe. If I quit now, the cookies will tempt me tonight. But I don't want to go in the kitchen where the blackberry cobbler is calling me. So I am hiding upstairs.

Debbie--Pictures look great. Sending Hugs. Sounds like younger sister will be the bad guy if needed. <3

Ginger--Hugs! I have the sleep issue too. I have found the melaton gummies extra help. I have also starting journaling and find that it helps me let go of things and write thru things to see how they look. Baby steps, one at a time.
Katla--Hugs! There is no set time for grief. We all are different and grief will come and go for some time. Take extra care of yourself. Sounds like you have a great plan in place to go help with the new baby, when the time comes and then come home and look for a new furbaby. If it is like us the right one will appear when you least expect them. In the mean time what a happy thing to plan for a new baby.

We lucked out and all we got was some rain last evening. Does sound like it will be rainy all weekend. I was cleaning out one of my top cupboards last evening so that I could put the bowls where I can reach without standing on a stool. Glad to have it done, but a metal themo cup fell and hit me on the other side of my head, so I have another burise. I told DH if this keeps up people are going to think he hits me, which could not be farther from the truth.

Oh Katla, very supportive of you guys to go lend them a hand. Dear Schooner is being honored with your grief and love. Take your time choosing your pup, no rush💖.

Tonight is spoiling son night by making my famous chicken fried rice. So much protein, with eggs, chicken and bacon, but he'll have leftovers for a few days. He tends to snack late at night, and fried rice is something he can microwave easily. Better than chips or candy.

Annie: Temptation can sneak up on us. Portion control has been one of my saviors. I can eat a little bit of something I really like & can exercise to burn it off. Ice cream is a particular treat. I only buy it in one store in town, served in a paper cup. It amounts to about one cup of ice cream. I do NOT buy a carton anymore. I eat my one cup serving and enjoy it. The other day DH went with me and also had one cup of ice cream. If I choose to buy a half gallon of ice cream, I eat way too much. I would have trouble staying out of your blackberry cobbler, too. It sounds delicious. :star:

Allie: I am sorry the pollen is getting you down and giving you a headache. Do you have an air-filter or air-conditioner? Either one might help. Wishing you luck getting rid of your headache. :flowerforyou:

Rebecca: Thanks for your good advice choosing a new pup. It will be a while before we are able to do that. We have family obligations coming up. After we’re through those obligations and we’re home we will start looking for a puppy.

Barbara - Officially Iceland is a Nordic country and not Scandinavian, though they do have some culture in common. I am looking forward to watching my 'favourite' Icelandic TV series again (!!!!!) ;) , TRAPPED, which is available on Amazon Prime. :D . I'm learning one or two phrases on Google Translate. I find the most useful are, "Two coffees please" and "I'm just looking, thank you." :D

DSIL rang us. She may get her ankle replacement operation by Christmas if she is very lucky. She is swimming every day and has bought herself a knee scooter, but she really cannot walk far.

I'm hoping to go for my run after breakfast tomorrow. B)

no, I would never go by myself. When I go with the group I have someone to hang out with at least part of the time- I am not good doing stuff on my own. If son's girlfriend doesn't go, he hangs out with me some, if Rovin goes, they are together most of the time(just the two of them) or they are with the whole group.

After the service is over and things calm down, I plan on sitting dh down and having a serious talk again.
I say I am like Rex from the original Toy Story movie- "I don't like confrontation" so I let things eat at me for years, never speaking up. One day I will get my voice.

Taking my mom would be great- we would need to find someone she could trust to take care of the garden and the chickens(and the dogs). My younger sister might do it but mom wouldn't trust her to do it right. She had a bit too much wine and forgot to lock the door to the chicken pen and also watered all the seed packets that mom hadn't planted when watering the green house- mom came home and found half her chickens loose and the seeds soaked so after getting the chickens back in, she had to stay up and get all the seeds planted-it was a late night for her and she told my sister she had to leave the next morning- too late and she had been drinking too much so didn't tell her to leave right then. I don't know who else she could find to take care of everything. There is a couple at church that might be able to do it.
Not sure when we will be going on our next trip.

LOVE your idea of a "God's Box" I really need to do that.

KP - Sounds as if you have a huge amount on your shoulders. <3 Well done on the alcohol. It is such a false friend. I know I , and a couple of other women on this thread, occasionally get annoyed with ourselves because of the friendship.
Be proud of all you are accomplishing. Do you have any real life support?

Tina - So sorry to hear about your friend. 51 is too young. <3 (((HUGS)))
I think my hesitation about seizing the day was more about DH not understanding the maths of the situation. If someone has 300 dollars and spends 30, they have 270 left. If someone has 100 dollars and spends 30, they only have 70. They have spent a much higher percentage.
Money is not an easy subject between us. :'(
We might have another discussion today. I am torn. Part of me thinks it is right to go next year while he really wants to and is fit enough, blow the money, and another part wants to wait for the following year. But he would be 77 by then. Who knows what our state of health will be by then!. We both really want to see Iceland and Greenland. One trip is just Iceland and the other, more expensive alternative, is both. We could, I think, take the option of changing our Mediterranean cruise in March to the Greenland one in July, which we haven't discussed. I'm not sure how I feel about that as I'm looking forward to seeing places on the Med I've never been to.( OK, decided, not cancelling!! :o )
It is 'only' money and when it's gone, it's gone. >:)

Thank you ladies for letting me think it through. I realise I am very privileged to even have the option. In a way my cruises are my pets , they keep me going throughout the year with happiness when I think of them. B) My constant companions.

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

I’m very excited for you that you decided to go for it. I’ve had too many sudden changes in my life that makes me want to take every opportunity I get.

Your comment about the math is so true. My daughter and her, at the time boyfriend, husband had an ongoing dispute that I got caught in the middle of were splitting bills 50/50. My daughter didn’t even have 2.00 for a coffee one day. When he travelled for school he wasn’t stocking the fridge. I was furious. I convinced her that they really needed to take a closer look when he was making 40.00/hour and her 14.00 it was extremely unfair. They both got angry with me, but after a month or so they had sat down and made a plan that worked for both of them. They started having a monthly budget meeting and have done very well ever since.

Worked today so no formal exercise. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Rest Speed 20 Circuit DVD

Allie – I totally understand not wanting to be with a smoker. I don’t like to be with a smoker even for a short period of time (like a minute)

M – I’m a bit surprised that it took so long for you to get your jab. Well...glad you got it anyway. Is your hubby going to get it? Or is it going to be too much for him emotionally to get it? If he doesn’t, will he still have to wear a mask? If so, won’t he wonder why some people do and others don’t?

Lisa – I’m sure you do this. I’ll buy chicken thighs when they’re on sale and take the skin off myself. Pay for skinless chicken thighs? No way! Those eyes!!!! Killer, for sure

Gina – welcome! I’m originally from northern NJ

After work went in the pool. Just made truffle cookies for Vince.

Anne DE – can I have some of those calories????

Went for a walk. I did get in over 14,000 steps today.

Ginny OH – yea for good news!

Time to work on the jigsaw puzzle!

Soup kitchen tomorrow and then the Green Room. This is the first time I’ll be in the box office in more than a year.

Just be careful with the rice! I had a wicked case of food poisoning from rice left out on a long distance bicycle event.

Cooked rice can make you sick if you don't store it like this
