Managed to get a run in today to have 141.95 tot for May to date out of 200 goal. Realistically I am not going to hit the goal this month but I am still quite pleased with the quality of the runs. Lots of speed work and better heart rates. We have just not had great weather - a lot of rainy days which is tough to complain about in tx.... LOL.
I tried wearing a non racerback bra for a 10K run and it made no appreciatable difference to the ache between my shoulder blades so I an ruling out the running bras as a cause (plus I am not that well endowed that the bra strains... lol). I tried the roller but I am hopeless as far as using it and afraid I am going to injure myself more. The one thing which does appear to help is the shoulder shrugs if I do them at least once a qtr mile split BEFORE my back starts to ache. I am excited that for the first time in over a year I am going for a massage.. I used to try to get one every other month or so more if I had sciatica acting up. Of course the people are different so it's hit or miss until I happen on a talented one. Luckily I am not shy about speaking up about pressure and locations etc.
and just because I love these new on sale shoes even if I had to buy a half size up... warning shoe porn in spoiler.
Nothing like really HOT shoe porn....1 -
This just happened. Run safe guys.

I just heard about this too. Just heartbreaking.0 -
@noblsheep heard about the ultra runners. Absolutely tragig.0

Just been out for an 8.8k easy run. Fit was excellent training for Wellington because its WINDY! Like there's definitely an appreciable difference in my pace depending on the direction I was going. That said it wasn't too bad, just tiring. But yay for good training conditions!

Perfect. My coach suggested Wellington for me but I think I’m going to hold off the halves for a bit. But, realistically, living there for two years made me understand how foul Wellingtons weather can be. I’m hoping you get a stunner day, but the odds for wind and rain... keep up the great training.2 -
Great to hear that the chiropractor has helped your back so much @Tramboman ! Glad you hung in there and finished your scheduled run.
Hahaha @WhatMeRunning ! Way to get it done!
@katharmonic Great way to make sure you get your run in when you know you aren't going to feel like it!
@SummerSkier Glad your running is going so well. Love the shoe porn!
@Avidkeo Glad you got in a good training run. Wind is so hard to run in.
I had an especially busy day today - church this morning, birthday party for a 3 year old at noon, and then a memorial service where my dad is buried. It was around 3:30 when I got home and I was so tired and not feeling the best. I think there was something in those vegan burgers that just didn't set right with me. So, I laid down and took a nap. Once I got up, I was feeling better, and went for a mile walk in the field with Tippy. It was hot. We had record cold weather just a couple of weeks ago and now it is record heat. Seems there aren't many days with those wonderful in-between tempertures.5 -

Oh @noblsheep. That is so awful. It sounds like they took lots of precautions. Weather can just be so unpredictable and dangerous.
I had a real good 11 mile run yesterday. I don't think I have run further than 10 miles at once since January. The temperature wasn't bad, but it was 100% humidity. So it was very sweaty, still a good run. I felt good and just tried to keep it slow and easy.

Humid and rainy today!
Yesterday my family took a day trip to visit some cemeteries where my ancestors are buried. My husband and I have been doing an intensive genealogy project for a couple of years now and in May we often visit cemeteries and plant flowers. The Internet makes tracking down information a lot easier than in the past. We don't use Ancestry or any paid subscription website - we mostly use online church records, cemetery data, and census records, and piece that together with the stories we've recorded from older relatives. We've solved a couple mysteries about origins and when certain branches arrived in the States and from where. The oldest ancestor we visited yesterday was born in 1779, which was very cool to see. Lots of walking around too, because we didn't have notes on where to find them in the cemeteries - most of them were small, but a couple were large and we searched for a long time. The kids were good sports about it - they like to look for interesting names and my oldest likes military history so he likes to find markers that mention service in particular wars. He reported several US Civil War vets, which excited him because we're usually not in sections of cemeteries that are that old.7 -
6 miles this morning. Sooo tired after being out of town all weekend. Just lucky to finish.

I'm too busy at work to go back and read, but hope all is well.
Went trail running with Skip yesterday, she took off which was good, I did a slow and sometimes walking 5 miles and I’m so excited. It’s a loop out and back and at the turn around is a place I used to sit on the edge and let my feet dangle and look at the view. I got there and Skip was there, I walked down to the rocks and got as far out as I could and started to cry (and I could hear Skip crying behind me). It was good to be out on the trails I love so much. I felt good, my ankle started to talk a little at about 4.75 miles, it’s really not a technical trail at all lots of bikes use it, but I was so happy to run on it. Hit my monthly goal which I’m also excited about. Skip is loving Fleet Feet she's doing great and they appreciate her hard work. She opens her locker all the time to things like new socks or a water bottle, yesterday it was $90 leggins. Her manager said you have been killing it and deserve it. nice.

I love that it’s getting daylight earlier! I didn’t even need a light when I headed out for my run at 6:00 am. The temp was a nice 55F. The birds apparently liked the weather as much as I did because they were all chirping and singing their morning songs.

It looks like I will miss my projected May mileage by almost exactly the estimated mileage I could have run during the two days I wasn't able to run due to that infection (14th and 16th, roughly 9.5 miles) . While it kind of sucks to miss the goal mileage, I am actually pleased that my forecasted mileage by running time for the month was that accurate.10 -
Nice run @kgirlhart .
Hope your back holds out for golf @Tramboman .
@penguinmama87 I take spurts of being really interested in my genealogy, and then I do nothing for months. I do like looking around old graveyards. One near where I went to college is where I learned the word "consort." There were two or three gravesites that had a man and his wife and then, on the other side of the man was a lady's name and underneath it said, "The Consort of Tom Jones" They were from the late 1800's.
Nice getting the run done @Scott6255 ! Sometimes, just finishing is huge.
So happy for you @skippygirlsmom ! Glad the ankle is healed and holding up. Also happy for Skip. I'd love to have a job that randomly gave me things I could use like that! Incredible.
@Teresa502 Glad you are having great morning runs. When I am out at dawn, it amazes me at the number of birds that seem to be out and about.
I had intended to get up early this morning and get in my long run, since I didn't do one last week. Somehow, I set my alarms for an hour later than I intended, so didn't get up until when I had intended to get out the door. Then, my tummy started acting up again and I wasn't feeling the best. I went ahead and went out, but modified my expectations. I decided to do the scheduled Fast Finish run on the driveway, so that I would be near the bathroom, if needed. Turned out, I didn't need it, but the run was hard. I decided to run 2 miles easy and then 1 mile faster, instead of the 25 min/10 min called for in the plan. The first 1.5 miles felt good and I was sad that I wasn't going to go further. But then, I suddenly couldn't breathe. I felt like I wasn't taking in enough air, even when I slowed down. I walked a little more and made it through. It was probably the humidity and pollen. I don't know. I did manage to run the 3rd mile about a minute faster than the first two.

I've struggled a bit this month and am way behind my goal. I've got about 49 miles so far. I hope to get 25ish before the end of the month to finish around 75. Next month I start virtual marathon training so gotta get my *kitten* together.6

Good going, everyone!
Today I worked until just before 20:00, cycled home, crashed on the sofa and ate an apple pastry. Then went on a 3.3km run, which was part of my running programme, but only due on Sunday. I decided the weather looks *kitten*, my legs were still have ok, so pulled it forward. It was... ok. Not more than that.7 -

Ran outside from the gym parking lot on the roads before strength training tonight. Strength was all upper body today and my biceps and triceps are like jelly now. Tomorrow should be fun!
I think work will calm down after tomorrow. I'm hopeful. I agreed to a hiking trip this weekend in New Hampshire so that's a new adventure to look forward to.7 -
@katharmonic I'm hoping with you that your work calms down. Enjoy your hike this weekend.0

Mostly cloudy, upper 60s F, high humidity, and no wind. It's sensitive parts of the upper body chafing season again, too. Hadn't done a post-run stretch in a long time; hamstrings, calves, and achilles were OK, but I thought my quads were going to explode. Golf went very well yesterday after my chiropractic adjustment -- my last three 9 hole scores are 41, 40, and 42.
