Today is a high 60's cloudy day, so I am simmering chicken for chicken stock.
Had chicken, cucumbers and tomatoes on melted cheddar and pepper jack cheeses on Wasa multigrain crackers.

Have a great weekend!0 -
Rebecca, thank you for the Athena pics - she is so charming, and looks like a happy girl.
I had to stay well away from Facebook yesterday, as my daughter has a habit of taking departures very hard--her husband left for Poland yesterday, and her Facebook feed was filled with goodbye pictures, everything from crying babies to soldiers walking away. Unbearable for me, but just her way to pull her support system around her. She called today and seemed in good spirits, as he arrived in Germany - a 14-day quarantine before they can move on, even with full vaccination for the soldiers.
Oh, and long story, but my son quit the amazing job he went to in Yellowstone and is now living in Billings, Montana, with a girl he fell in love with. She landed in the hospital with a "stress seizure," and had no family or anyone there--he had no vacation time, so simply walked away from the job to take care of her. He has always been a magnet for the damaged people. I said nothing but "Oh, ok," because he is a grown-*kitten* man, and didn't ask for my advice.
Last but not least, only four customers showed up for the Farmer's Market, and only two vendors, the lady selling eggs and me. On the bright side, I sold something to each customer, and the egg lady sold only one dozen eggs. But, until the vegetables start coming in, not sure we'll see much in terms of traffic. Ordinarily, they would be selling already, but the combination of a late frost, that tornado that came through and weeks of drenching rain, everything was late getting started...
Later, y'all,
Love,

Lisa: I love the idea of a farmer’s market and wish you the best, both in selling and meeting the community who shop there. Profit is a great measure for you to count your success.

Lisa - Sorry there were so few people at the farmers market....
Rebecca - Love the Athena pictures, those sunflower shorts are adorable.

Did my dumbbells. Yay!
I ate very lightly today in preparation for my usual big Sunday dinner. At least I have some idea of the calorie numbers. NSV!
Lisa- sorry about the poor showing at the farmer's market. You worked so hard, despite your illness!

Evening ladies
Went to a friends place this evening and we were outside.. was nice left just in time before it started raining...going to get up early to grocery shop..1 -
-
I didn't realize how tired I was yesterday until I went for my evening walk today and noticed how much energy I had by comparison.
Lisa, so sorry the market wasn't better attended, especially after all your hard work.
We have officially declared our pathetic zucchini plants a "learning experience" and will buy better dirt next year.

Barbara we are in a moderate drought. Hopefully tomorrow we will get some rain to help. Right now outdoor fires are banned until we get more rain.1

Hi,
I’m looking to join in. I’m 50 and have around 65 or 70 pounds to lose. But more importantly I’m working on my health. I’m feeling pretty good because I’ve standardized breakfast and lunch. I’m trying cook soups for myself as well. I
The idea is to make a double batch and give the family one pot while putting the rest up for me.
I just found out yesturday that all these odd symptoms I’ve been having are due to anemia. I was afraid they were caused by neurology. Anemia is easier to deal with. I started iron pills last night. MFP tracks iron if I log, so that’s exciting.
I decided to stop drinking wine, etc and haven’t had any since March. So I feel pretty healthy that way too. We walk about 5 days a week. I’m giving myself a break this week and am only walking 4. But, next week I’m back to 5 again. I think I’m doing pretty good and am looking forward to getting more healthy.
Nice to meet you all

Up at my mom's this weekend on a fishing expedition. I did manage to find my dad's medical records from his breast cancer experience, and I took pictures of, what I believe, are the key pages of information for my doctors. I cannot find his genetic test results, and it is super frustrating. I did find the letter documenting the suggestion that he get it done, so that gave me a date to look after, but his medical records in his office are a bit sketchy after that date.
This would be so much easier if I could just talk to my mom, but I absolutely cannot do it yet. I just don't have enough information. I did think of a couple more places to look tomorrow before I leave, but my niece's daughter is staying with my mom as well tonight and sleeping in the living room. I was planning to look in some "secret" places in the dining room hutch, but I don't know how to do that with a 12 year old sleeping on the couch!! Lol If my mom has a copy of the report in her room, I won't be able to get to it. Except . . . she asked me to make her bed. I am off to do that right now and will try to quietly open a few drawers.
ETA: Darn. My niece's daughter made her bed. Oh, well! :-)

Lisa - Oh phooey to the Farmers Market. I hope you have big freezers. Sorry your son has such a loving heart (or something like that, but you know what I mean) And no, we can't put our wise old heads on their young shoulders.
Rebecca - Lovely photos. I bet you can't wait for your summer trip down there.
I've been reading about the heat in the South West and thinking about Rita RV. Anyone heard from her?

Finally got Tumble out to dog group but wow, it was HOT! Weather guy said 97F. Not as bad as the rest of the nation but 20+ degrees above normal for us. After three little barks telling the new dogs that she was LA ALPHA, she settled down and did great. To spare the dogs’ pads, instead of long walk down Chetco Av we took short walk around the bank and did exercises on grass rather than asphalt To spare ourselves we quit a little early. Stopped at Pancho’s for take away lunch. Pandemic positive: Margaritas to go – just what the weather called for. Joe even ate and sipped with me for awhile. Win win win!
Kim “recognizing” vs “implementing” boy howdy, you said it! Transplanted zukes into large pot, prepped with potting soil and fertilizer mix. Then we had a two day downpour. Will post pic tomorrow.
Rebecca Athena Rose in the strawberries!
Lisa that your son had to choose between caring for someone he loved and the job he loved.
Welcome @Numer1ca Jennifer in the PNW! Sounds like a good plan.

Our little Rhody wants to learn to read. When I lie in bed and read, he will come in and "select" several books from the collection I have under the edge of the bed.
Once selected, he'll sit on them, dig through them, nibble the edges, and sometimes even open them and lie on them and look at the words.
In the interests of relaxing a bit, I have been colouring! This is my first attempt at colouring in years and years ...
The colouring kit came with a grand total of 6 pens so that's all I worked with. There is only one green pen, but I wanted different greens so I had to blend.

Both of my walking friends have cancelled on me for today. The regular dog walking friend has her daughter visiting and they're going out to breakfast early. The Sunday friend texted that she's in Texas and won't be walking so that will free up a big piece of time for working in my yard. Yippee.
Welcome Jennifer and Pam We are glad to meet you. Make your first new resolution to read this thread every day and join the conversation.

Yeah, I'm kinda there on the "phooey" part. Talked to Corey - he doesn't mind supplying the funding for the things I make, but said I need to be sure to stop when it becomes a chore. It's supposed to be enjoyable, not a hard slog.
Helpful, too, that the freelance writing gig has geared up a bit of late. It comes in waves, like everything.
Regarding my son... yeah, I can't go there, both for him and for his sister. My silence on these subjects is painfully necessary. They must make their own way through these stressful situations, and I have no right to weigh in on these matters, regardless of how much I want to do so. Trying to see it as opportunities for growth, both for them and for me. The more they exercise the strength they both have, the less they need my advice. Hard to keep my mouth shut, but well worth it.
Jennifer from the PNW - welcome, we're glad you're here! Drop into any conversation where you're comfortable.
Off to the races, my chickens! Need to make myself a scrambled egg or something, my stomach is clawing at me.
Later,
Love,

Morning ladies
Wow what a morning...i made myself get up and dressed and went grocery shopping.. there was a 5 for 10 sale going on ,Alfie had a sleep over at Tom and Elenas so after i got home and out groceries away i went and picked him up.. bless his heart he sees me and he is ready to go,I love the little rascal...
Im going to visit a friend this afternoon at her little lakehouse.. and Alfie is coming along..3 -
Margaret: Your comment made me think about the situation here. I looked up drought information for St. Helens, OR. The information was that no one was having drought problems in Columbia County now. It is June and river levels are normal. I am not confident that this will continue indefinitely. We’ve had much less rain this year than usual in my observation. :ohwell:
Jennifer: Where do you live in the PNW? OR or WA?
Flea: Good luck with your research. :flowerforyou:
Heather: I haven’t seen a sign of RV Rita in months. I hope she is okay.
Barbara: I am so envious that you have your dog, Tumble. I miss Schooner every day. Our DS and DDIL have asked us to come to support them when baby number two is due to be born. They specifically asked us not to bring a dog. DDIL rescued a dog that turned out to be unsuitable for a home with young children. She found the dog a place with a woman who works with rescue dogs that have behavior issues. No dogs for them at this time. :noway: No dogs for us until after we return home from the birth of the new baby, sometime in November. :ohwell:
Barbie: I’m sorry that your walking friends have cancelled. I hope it is a short-term situation. :flowerforyou:
Allie: I’m happy Alfie is back with you.
We are having a bright, bright, sunshiny day. Yesterday I pruned one of our rhododendrons that was getting too close to the siding of our home. The other one is not crowding the house but needs a little attention. I may take that one on today so that both are pruned.

Did a Peak 10 DVD today then took a walk. Seems the skunk must have gone away. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Yoga for Weight Loss DVD.
Barbie – yea for Jake’s report
03CiaBella – yea!!!!
Barbara – went out by the pool today. Last night the skunk was in the pool, then on the deck, then he crawled over to a shady spot, then as the sun set he crawled to another shady spot. When I came in, to me he looked dead, I didn’t even see his fur moving when he was breathing. Yet, this morning when I came back from my walk I looked and he wasn’t there. I guess he was just recuperating. Here’s another interesting fact (which I’m sure you care about), skunks aren’t endurance swimmers. Well, as long as he’s gone, I don’t really care
Sunday here: did a Yoga for Weight Loss DVD then rode the recumbent bike since it’s raining out and I can’t go for my walk. Watched The Beverly Hillbillies while I was using the bike. Saw the first episode. Was pretty interesting. Work tomorrow so no formal exercise.
Rebecca – oh, Athena is so adorable. Thanks for making my day
Jennifer – welcome
Going to try making ribs in the IP for Vince and now have them under the broiler. Last time I made them I removed the membrane. Boy, was that hard! So this time I kept it on and just cut it where the ribs were. We shall see how that goes. I did have to stack j
Pam – welcome! Tell us more about yourself. You’ve come to a good place for encouragement.
M – great pictures
Yesterday before church went to WalMart to get some prescriptions for Vince. Also bought some of the non-refrigerated items we needed. Had dinner then went for my evening walk
Better post this before I forget (again)

Good morning all! Welcome new ladies! Happy Sunday!
My vacation officially started yesterday. Yesterday, I woke early-ish (6:30), showered and dressed for a memorial service. It is the grandfather to my late sister's kids. He and his wife raised the kids after my brother in law passed and my sister went emotionally AWOL. Good people. It was an hour and a half drive for me (and I got lost, of course); but I made it and it was nice to see the kids and their grandma and see all of the pictures they had displayed. I began the process of mending fences with my niece. She has been angry with me since her mom (my sister) passed, over things that I have no control over, but have still apologized about. Anyway, I invited her to come out to the lake when she has free time this summer. I let her know that if she calls first, I can make sure I have the day to visit and show them (her, her son, and friend) around. OR if she would rather, she is welcome to use my home as a "pit stop". Meaning they can explore, come back for lunch/clean up/ etc. She was thrilled with the offer and gave me a warm hug and goodbye after the memorial. So...hopefully that is one relationship mended.
I took my shopping bags and list along with me and was able to do the shopping on my way home from the memorial. Never again, will I shop on a Saturday, late afternoon. NEVER. So crowded and the store shelves half empty. Which means I will need to go back later this week to pick up the things that were out of stock.
Rebecca- The Athena pictures! (((<3 ))) I love how, in one pic, it looks like she is transferring her dandelion bouquet to the other hand, so that she can pick strawberries! Such a sweetie!
Lisa - I am wondering if your community has a "community" facebook page? Many of our local farms, bakers, etc. post on the community page when they have an overstock of fresh picked items/baked goods. They also use the Marketplace to sell. The majority of them sell everything within a day. Just a thought. The pics of Levi are just priceless! He certainly seems to be an animated little guy! He must keep mama in stitches.
Ginger and the rest of you who post your exercise and activity- IF it is not too much trouble PLEASE continue to do so, here! IT is so inspiring to me to read of your accomplishments in the midst of the daily grind!
Kim- I stand in awe of your plumbing courage/accomplishment! I will have to remember "power washer" the next time I have something like that happen to me! Whodathought?!
Today I am cleaning, and cooking; although it is a lovely day. My plan is to get these things done, then that will leave me the rest of the week to work on some projects I want to get done for my childcare. Another goal I have this week is to get back on track with my "pound of veg per day", and my lean protein with each meal. I have enough yoghurt for the week, as well as cottage cheese (which is my go-to meat substitute). I have prepped three zucchinis, a pound of mushrooms, a spaghetti squash, celery, carrots, leafy greens, and cucumbers. I have carnitas in the crock pot and that should give me meat/meal options for the week. I saved $100 on groceries this week, not having to buy for the childcare kiddos. That is a nice bonus. I am also going to hit the library (it is open with regular hours, finally!) and get a few books. A couple of them are e-books, so I can listen as I exercise. This past year of not having a library at my disposal, has sent me to the arms of streaming services. It took me a while to figure out WHY I am sitting in front of the Netflix menu and not finding anything I really want to watch. Because I don't want to watch. I want to read. Hooray for books and the library!
Another goal for my week off, is to pick a different park each day and walk some trails. This sounded good to DH as well, so I will check with him before each walk to see if he wants to join me.
Ah well, I better get off my backside and get busy! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Just wanted to share the latest pic of Joaquin and Miguel. This was taken last weekend at 9am. The boys are still in their jammies and wet from playing in the sprinkler. It was 91* (F) when they woke up that day, so they had water fun and popsicles before breakfast. lol They look very happy with how their day is going! lol

Kelly - how adorable...

She has made a registry for the baby on Babylist.. so at least we can get an idea what she wants, they have no baby stuff since Taliah is 13 yrs old lol.
I saved 92.50 using my member card at price chopper...got some stuff i dropped off at sons house.. crackers, cookies and some Stouffers mac and cheese..
I did come home and take a nap and im still feeling tired.. im taking iron every day but maybe it has to build up in my system...
Except for taking Dan to work this week I have no drs appt which is a plus...
Today im missing my dad,my FIL and my other dad,i love them all dearly ,but not just on Fathers day but everyday5 -
I pruned my second Rhododendron today. Nothing is too close to the house and they are both looking good. This year has had the fewest blossoms in my memory. I have a gardenia near the rhody and the gardenia smells wonderful. :flowerforyou:5
