@Katla49 I am in the north Seattle area. So urbanish? Not suburbs, but not like living downtown. We found a weird property that’s just shy of a half acre. I am NT long forward to the fire season. We are looking into a couple air purifiers this afternoon. I’d like to put them in the bedrooms.
My Rhodi and Azalea needs pruning. I was afraid I missed the date. My whole front yard needs it. 🤭 we’ll see what I have the spoons for today. My house is a disaster and I think we are going to start having people over again. All 4 of us are fully vaxxed now, so I feel good about it.

Took DD to the airport this morning. She should be in Denver soon. She will leave from there to go to Iceland tomorrow. It is so nice to be able to take her to Paine Field in Everett instead of driving over an hour in to SeaTac.
Allie - you and Alfie have fun at the lake.
KJ - Have a great vacation. Love the picture of the boys. Looks like a wonderful way to start the day.
Lisa - Sorry about the market after all your preparation.
Rebecca - that Athena is a cutie. I love all of her adventures.
Welcome to those who are new.

Alzeimer's and aging,
I have heard of people being pretty upbeat with Alzheimer's too, though I don't know if it's the norm. a close friend (who exaggerates bit) said her grandma was full of life. a long time family friend forgot she had been married (I think her husband had already passed) and quickly found a boyfriend in the nursing which her kids found a bit unsettling.
On another elderly ailment thing, my mom was anti-doctor and so didn't get her cataracts removed for many years. She was still driving but at about 10 miles an hour slowly to the side of the road on a road where 30 or 35 was the limit. She was stopped once and she told the police she was driving slowly in protest of something or other (she was regularly politically active throughout her life), they gave her a warning and the second time made her get a test and found she was legally blind. Not very safe, but a bit funny to have finagled that answer. Thank goodness no-one was hurt. She was a character!2 -
lovely weather today!
met a friend-colleague for a glass of wine yesterday evening. we last met just before xmas. she was scared then about catching something from me. and we stayed on the balcony and she didn't stay long. but yesterday she was fine and not scared at all. it was pouring on the way there but it was fine I had my hot pink umbrella and happened to be wearing trousers that dry very quickly thank goodness! nice telephone working session yesterday morning with friend-colleague, and food shopping a bit of cleaning (not too much) and some watching movies, etc.
I love my morning moments at the café. today I saw there were at least 6 women alone at same time as me. (around 10 am ? Sunday morning) For 6 euros you can get a fresh oj, a quality cup of tea, and a croisant or 1/3 of baguette (I'd say), butter and jam. I skip the croissant and baguette since I'm GF but it's still cheaper to get the 2 drinks for 6 euros than to buy them separately. I guess I could have the butter and jam. LOL.
still not doing brilliantly at tracking.
did some workers rights work this weekend. started using the facebook account one or our members activated a year ago, and we got 72 "interactions" in 2 days. (new 'friends', shares, posts, etc.) much better results than we've been having of late with a good year of confinement.we do occasional mass mailings (email) but it's a bit of work and with a few tens of people responding. this is very lowlabor and offhand and it's cool to see the "interactions" through the page.1 -

Jennifer PNW: DH & I live in NW Oregon beside the Columbia River. We have not been in the Seattle area for the past several years. I love fisherman’s wharf and also Chihuly Garden and Glass. The two places bring back wonderful memories.
Pam: Stop by often for friendship and encouragement.
I went to the grocery store this morning and am home where the air-conditioner is keeping us comfortable. The temperature inside is 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Outside is 81.9F. There is a pleasant breeze outside.

Welcome Pam and Jennifer! I'm on Whidbey island in Puget Sound in Washington State. *waves to ya's*
I too would love to lose 50-70 lbs, just try to make good choices and try to put myself first. For so many years I just ate whatever I fixed my 3 sons. Never even contemplating my likes. I have discovered I like to eat a diet more rich in fruits and veggies, than my husband and adult son (we live with). Yes, I could be evil and fix meals that I like, but truth be told, they are both adults (not my job to change their eating habits). I do make them eat a salad weekly. I have also found out my body is happier when I feed it earlier, and then not eat dinner. So I quit eating about 2 pm. I still fix a dinner for them, but I just play chef. Again its nice to sleep on an empty stomach.
Glad you ladies loved the Athena photos! You all are like her aunties💖👍!
Appreciating the fathers in my life. My dad, my husband, and my stepfather. All so instrumental in how I view my life💖. I appreciate them!

Rebecca - Lovely photos. I bet you can't wait for your summer trip down there.
I've been reading about the heat in the South West and thinking about Rita RV. Anyone heard from her?

Katla, my walking friends just cancelled for today. The friend who walks with the dogs and me every morning had a visit from her out of town daughter so she cancelled to have breakfast with both her daughters. She'll be walking with us again tomorrow. The other friend walks with me every Sunday after we pick up our groceries at QFC except when she goes to Texas to visit her family. When I walk alone or work in the yard alone, I have the company of my bluetooth headphone and my favorite podcasts. Today I listened to Omnibus with Ken Jennings and John Roderick and 10% Happier with Dan Harris. It is very warm here today so I was happy to have time to work in the yard before 10AM.

For the newcomers in particular, jump right in and participate where you like.
Essentially, we end up talking about all aspects of the Wellness "Wheels". How are you doing in the various areas?
Cheers,
Machka in OzHi Gals,
Machka-
The wellness wheels caught my interest today… so here is my assessment using my self assigned 10 point scale, 10 is I’ve got this, 1 is tons of work to do:Emotional – 7.5 I would like to add a couple of new friends, but over all I feel good about this one.
Financial -7 I am headed in the right direction, made some really good moves in the last 3 years, and think by 3 years from now I’ll be securely a 9
Social – 6.5 The pandemic/politics of 2020-21 has changed some things, some friends have moved on and some have shown me another side of themselves, so I feel like my support structure is a bit thinner than I would like, but as things open up and my finances continue to stability I think this will be ok
Spiritual - 10 I have always felt like even though I do not do any form of traditional religious life, that I have meaning, ethics, and integrity.
Occupational – 9 I love what I do, the embroidery fulfills me and allows me to have an impact on others.
Physical - 6 This one could be a ten as it says “recognizing the need for physical activity, diet, sleep and nutrition” I get a 10 for “recognizing” but a 6 for implementation! I need to work on accountability to what and in what quantities I am eating.
Intellectual - 6 I do a reasonability good job of reading and learning new things, keeping up on current events, but I would like to have a situation where I could discuss things more.
Environmental – 7 I am making progress in this area, minimizing so I have less to clean and keep up with, and a benefit of the financials is that is allowing me to do some changes and updates to the house and yard.
Overall I am pretty pleased with how I am doing…better than I thought before I thought about it a section at a time.
Smiles, Kim in Northern California
Nice evaluation!
You've motivated me to do something similar.
Emotional: I would probably put this at a 6. I don't feel I'm coping really effectively with life.
Financial: That's probably a 7. I feel like I've got the education and experience to move up but ...
And of course, on Worker's Compensation my husband is only receiving a percentage of his salary.
Social: I'm very introverted, so I don't have much of a support system. This would probably be a 6.
Spiritual: Believe it or not, I am but I need to take more steps in that direction. Again ... 6.
Occupational: I like my work but as mentioned in Financial, I feel like I've got the education and experience to move up so I'm a little frustrated. 6.
Physical: I'm not exercising as much as I would like. That would require more time, not more motivation. I'm eating fairly well but not perfect. My sleep could use some work. Let's say 6 or 7.
Intellectual: Taking courses! I can't go very long without taking course. My current one is Understanding TBI. In this area, I'd put me at an 8 or 9.
Environmental: I am working on creating a better environment at home and I am debating what I can do to create a better environment at work. I'll go with 7 for effort!
Not bad but could use some improvement and I am working on some of those areas.

I feel like all I’m saying lately is, “I’ve read and caught up”. Pats were in the banks on Friday so that was a win! We had two relatively minor issues and easily fixed. We had two big issues that are in the actual setup and I have to learn tomorrow how to recalculate and fix it for the pay side while the company investigates and fixes what happened.
On Thursday we had our weekly status meeting via Zoom. The administrator and my direct supervisor were a couple minutes late coming into the call so the Project Manager from the program we bought and I were just chatting. She asked me if I had felt confident to hit send when my trainer, through the transition, told me it was time to commit the payroll. I told her yes that he had been encouraging and thorough. She then told me that he had told her I “could teach it now”. I don’t feel that confident. Unbeknownst to me the Administrator and my Supervisor had joined the call and heard her tell me this. After the meeting my Administrator came to my door with tears in her eyes telling me how proud she was and how proud I should be. I think I’ve FINALLY earned her respect. I just hope it lasts!

I was interrupted and ended abruptly. I apologize.
I had a wonderful weekend for the first time since Ember (the Grandpup) and my human Grands were together at our house. I don’t know who was more excited Ember or Jonah and Michaela.

Thanks for reminding me, Machka. Up here where the sun never sets from April to August and never rises from October to February, it's easy to lose track of the solstices.
I remember a BBC radio feature where the host asked a reporter stationed in Murmansk how people were celebrating "the shortest night of the year". Murmansk is in High Arctic Russia where the sun had been circling the sky constantly for a whole month at that time. The reporter was so discombobulated she allowed several seconds of silence into the broadcast.
I've been following along here as best I can, but our move is rapidly approaching. On Tuesday the shippers will come for the stuff we've put on pallets.
YIKES! That's TOMORROW!
Everything that isn't loaded onto the pallets and ready for them will either have to go into our suitcases or be tossed. (Heather see PM!) So I'll spend the rest of the week packing the eight suitcases we're allowed to check in when we fly down July 1.
According to the time-honored principle that s*it happens, my husband leaves for fieldwork Thursday morning and won't be back until Monday.
Ugh! Gotta run!

Had a lovely time on Saturday celebrating an early Father’s Day with our family. We had afternoon coffee with strawberries and ice cream.
Had a quiet Father’s Day yesterday and Skyped with Granddaughter who is in England. She’s coming home on 5 July for a week. Looking forward to seeing her.
Today I’m planning to go out into the garden and do some weeding.
I’m playing catch-up again pg 441 -
😕It’s so sad to watch a beloved relative or friend disappear before your eyes, and then have to deal with what replaces them. 😢
Michele - Elsie had lots of elegant stuff that she kept for ‘best’. No one wanted it when she died. I kept it, and use it often and think of her.3 -
I need to work on social wellness too. I used to hang out with some ladies pre-pandemic, but that fell apart before I made strong friendships. The rest are okay, or else brought down by the social aspect.
I gave in to evening snacking last night. I went for the sugar. I really need to eat more vegetables. Sound familiar? I've been here awhile.
Nothing special on my plate today, besides the meditation group Zoom. I've been trying to think of a short story to write for the writing group. Something will occur to me, sooner or later.
