@Lilylady3k Sorry to hear about your trout. I think I would have loved that but still think “fish tacos” are weird. LOL 🤷‍♀️

Vala my pinto mare woke me up in the middle of the night apparently wanting a 2am carrot and a hug and kiss. Maybe she had a nightmare. I complied. She's such a big cuddle baby. Also, I celebrate 30 years of being vegan! I'm in it for the animals and the health benefits are just a bonus.)

This is just too cute - do you have pics of your horses? or other animals?

"Also, I celebrate 30 years of being vegan! I'm in it for the animals and the health benefits are just a bonus.)"
Congratulations on your 30-year commitment!! What do you eat to get enough protein especially with your hiking and running? I'm hypoglycemic so need a lot of protein. I'm not vegan but I do at least buy from a local farmer because the way animals are "raised" in the US is horrendous.

I believe you are from Nova Scotia? I can't wait until we can travel between Maine and Canada again. I so want to go to Cape Breton Island.

Lastly, congrats on your weight loss - you've really done amazingly well each round!

I am very slack at taking pictures, but I'll see if I can find some. And thank you so much for your support. I have been working hard at this and am very determined. I love this challenge. Ten days seems like a really good time frame.

Getting enough protein is never really a problem. I try to get 60g a day, but the recommended amount for me is only 46g. I do eat soy, love tempeh and tofu and most weeks treat myself to some vegan sausages or something (this is mainly because it's still a thrill for me to find vegan foods!) And normal vegan food is probably higher in protein than people realize - I eat a lot of vegetables! Even without the fake meats, I always get enough protein.

B12 is more of a problem than protein, but the nutritional yeast takes care of that for me. I balance my limited calories carefully to make sure I get 30g of fibre, 30g of fat (this one is actually difficult to reach and I don't always succeed). I don't worry about carbs (because I eat very limited grains and my carbs are from fruit and vegetables) or sugar (again, sugar is almost entirely from fruit).

And yes, I now live in Nova Scotia, and agree that Cape Breton is worth a visit! So beautiful there! Not so pretty where I live, but lots of trees and I love trees. I totally agree with you about factory farms too - they're no better in Canada; I cannot even think about them without weeping.

7/04 - 147.0 - Happy 4th to my US friends! Weight to be expected. We had limited concert tickets to sold out shows and one was postponed due to rain until Friday night. The other was originally scheduled for last night. It was a great time at both (both moved right up to top 2 concerts I've ever seen, they were amazing and great showmen). Late nights, not as much sleep, and not enough water (adds up real when buying for 5 people and can't bring any outside drinks in...ugh. Its WATER...but I get it, end rant). Hopefully rain lets up today like it did last night so we can light the few fireworks we bought. They've been looking forward to it for awhile. Luckily Fam's land is out in the middle of nowhere so we have lots of space and won't be disturbing a ton of people.

    Previous Day's Comments
7/01 - I am thoroughly confused. I haven't fasted in a week and a half. I haven't tracked food in 2 weeks. Haven't been drinking to my water goals for several days. I haven't worked out in a week. And yet, here I am dropping 1.2lbs and looking super slim out of nowhere. I even ATE CAKE last night (Daughter wanted to bake a cake so we did). Is it backwards day and I just don't know about it?! Despite my iffy tummy earlier in the week, I still ate a normal amount....Anyone have insight on what could be going on?
7/02 - This is weird. I had a latte with real milk yesterday. Then had to eat immediately after to help settle my stomach. I've now gotten myself flavored syrups to make flavored lattes and oat milk for myself so they won't upset my tummy. Really surprised I'm not still bloated from that. Shocked in general at the weight. Flashed 145 for a minute but then it went back up to 146. Tried again and at 146 immediately. Had a bad morning, slept on my neck wrong. It was so bad it made me dizzy until I threw up. I feel better now, though my neck is still achy, it's much more tolerable. Eye appointment in a short bit. Hopefully I can keep up with the loss and maintain it.

R155: Time to make some progress and strive for <200 in July!
Exercise Goal for this round: Daily planks, squats & hand weights. Bike once per week. Walk 100 miles in July!
🎯Mini Goal: 204.x (Repeat until I hit it!)

    Day/Weight/Previous Day’s Comment
7/1 206.2 Walk 3.3 miles, 1 min plank, 10 squats, hand weight routine, bike 30 min, 1751 cal, 98 net carbs, 2 glasses wine dining out. Pretty sure that the unexpected Italian dinner out showed up on the scale and derailed all my exercise. Set up my paper journal to track my exercise goals in July and began testing them out yesterday! No reason to wait until July :) I’ve found that the graphs and paper journal help me reflect , focus and high 5 myself … something about all those colored pencils and doodles!
7/2 207.6 @ fishing camp 🎣 No walking long car ride, plank, squats, 1853 cal, 102 net carbs, 4 glasses of wine. Hoping this jump is from travel bloat and not actual gain. I was good at fast food ordering grilled chicken melt no bun at Whataburger and then dinner was jambalaya. But the wine and less water might have just taken me over the edge.
7/3 207.4 @ fishing camp 🎣 Walked 3.6 miles, fishing, squats, 1850 cal, 86 net carbs, 2 glasses of wine. Caught 16” speckled trout but due to the freeze earlier this year the TPWD narrowed the slot size from 15”-25” to 17”-23”. Catch & Release. No fish tacos :(
    7/4 207.1 @ fishing camp 🎣 Walked 3.6 + .3 miles, fishing, squats, 2219 cal, 112 net carbs, 3 glasses wine.

Although Vala belonged to somebody else, she and I bonded straight after we met. Before I had my own few acres, I boarded my mare Pic across the aisle from her and Vala was always totally jealous of the care Pic got and she clearly wanted to belong to me, as her owners ignored her, yet refused to sell her, saying that they loved her too much (ha!). Two or three years after I left there, I had a dream that I bought her for $600, and I emailed that to the owner, and lo and behold they agreed to sell her to me for that price. It's a ridiculous price for a mare with an injured back, as she cannot be ridden, but I had promised her that if I could ever make her mine, I would. And I do not regret it, not for a second. Vala's original name was Missie, but I changed it after I got her. She knew her name, Missie, very well, but after I had her for 2-3 days and accidentally called her Missie, she ignored me completely. I called "Vala" and she came right up to me. It's as if she was leaving her past behind her. Sorry to have gone on!
