I’ll have to watch the rescues around me, I guess. I’m glad you had a good visit with your friends. I like the natural long hair photo the best. It accentuates the right things about your face.
JustkeepTrying, what a rotten thing to do. It’s unfair especially to coworkers who have to fill the unexpected gaps.
Rebecca, did Oak Harbor do their usual fireworks?
Pip! I’m so glad to see your usual stat-heavy posts. It somehow satisfies my heart to know someone else is as compulsive about a set of numbers as I am. I log every bite and sip when I’m on my game and go back and try to check every nutrient and value.
Tracey in Edmonton, what is it with this group and unappreciative bosses? Seems we have another sort of pandemic on our hands. Or is it just that we became so needy that we’d accept that sort of treatment gladly for the attention, and now we’re waking up?
Lisa in AR, hang in there. I’m no stranger to what you’re going through. Baby steps are still progress, even if we wobble from time to time. It’s when I’m feeling a waddle rather than a wobble that I know I’m headed into bad places.
R in indiana, it’s funny how we get down on ourselves for what others would say is progress. Keep on doing the right thing as best you can. For me, I deduct NO exercise calories. That way the only thing I can get wrong is calories. I actually measure most of my food now and don’t go on guesstimates. I’m not good at them.
Diane in Tenn, welcome. This IS a busy thread, but so many people here who have reached goal and are maintaining, and willing to share their experience, strength and hope.

Thx. I don’t know why I do it, I think it’s interesting to see how high my max heart rate gets up to. I think 183 was the highest, I don’t remember what I was doing, I think it was when I started running again after a long break. I don’t remember thinking I was going to die cuz my hr got up so high but it also doesn’t mean to tell me how long it was that high. Every once in awhile we will pass someone and I will ask Kirby if I’m as thin as her just to see what others see when looking at me.0 -
trucker743 wrote: »Katla, im so glad you get to ride thanks to your good friend! Many of my local friends have horses and really miss their time with them when they’re busy. It’s not like a dog or cat who greets you when you get home. Most folks have them stabled somewhere else. I’d find that hard, like having a child away at camp or boarding school.
Oh Rebecca! your food picture and ingredient list spark all my nom nom buttons!
Liz in North Florida, first of all, I hope the nasty weather misses you! How does one find out they woke up in ketosis? I’m on a high protein food regime because I’ve had gastric bypass surgery. I have to be careful I don’t get to burning protein (muscle) instead of staying even or burning fats. I never am quite sure I’ve got enough protein percentage for my size. Knowing I was in ketosis would help.
Pip, isn’t body dysmorphia a bear? I’m at my goal range of 135-155 ( I allow a 10lb swing from 145 either way), but still sit gingerly in those plastic chairs, I’m so sure they’d break. And I cover my lower belly area careful because I’m so sure I’m fat. I KNOW better, I just have trouble thinking better.
”Hi” to Erin from Northern California! glad to meet you. I’m near Seattle but love northern CA Eureka would be a place I’d really consider living if it weren’t too pricey. You’ve set some terrific guidelines for this month. Running should help those pounds melt - especially with no candy and no alcohol. Healthy snacks will help you stay on track. Think hummus and veggies or meat sticks.
Snacker, is that a habit you have, or does it just describe your eating habit? The folks I know who eat 5-6 tiny meals (snacks to me!) seem to do quite well. I’m trying my best to emulate them for most of the day. Keep on posting so we get to know you.
Michelle, by mahjong do you mean the tile matching game in various shapes or the actual game of mahjong as played by the women in Amy Tan’s books? I think I’d like to learn the real game, but I’d prefer to play the computer at first.
Barbie in NW WA, it seems like we talk about so much besides food. Friends, spouses, co-workers, repairs, animals we share our lives here, and that’s what keeps it real for me. I’m so glad for your very acute analysis o things and your ever-so-logical solutions to problems.
Barbie AHMOD, cougars scare me more too. I love my cats, but see in them the likeness to big cats every day. They are focused on the silent stalk and pounce to kill. Even in play-fighting with each other I see how it could be deadly in an instant. They have learned cat manners well from their mothers and know when to quit. Strangely, my orange tabby girl, who is almost exactly half the size of her Siamese sparring partner is the dominant cat. She was here first and makes sure Andromeda knows it.
On a terrible fudge I binge. My philosophy today was “eat it up, then buy no more”, so it’s gone but so is any thought of ketosis or weight loss for today. Oh well. As Scarlet said, “Tomorrow’s another day!” I can’t take that attitude often, though. Just today.

It is a weird thing. I think for as hard as I workout and walk and ride, I would think I would be lighter but I am constantly talking to myself, muscle weighs more than fat, blah blah blah. I’ve gotten to weigh myself first thing in the am along with after my workout for the day. I don’t eat or drink anything until after my workout for the day except for 2 cups of coffee in the morning. I guess I do intermittent fasting every day, lololol. I guess I want a true weight recording each time. The biggest weight difference I’ve seen was 4lbs from the am to after the workout on the same day…1 -
Good morning!
I am enjoying reading the posts - such a motivating and supportive group. I look forward to getting to know you all better.
This morning was the first morning run of my marathon training - 4 miles before work. I used to run a ton and it is kind of messing with my mind that 3-4 miles is a lot of work for me now. I can't compare the now-me to the previous-me, but sometimes it creeps in. I will keep working on it. I packed my food and planned my day and am working hard to set myself up for success.
Have a wonderful day ladies!
Erin
Well done!
I've got a 6.2 km run on August 1 and I need to get off my butt and start running! I did a 5K in late May and have run a bit since, but really need to make it a more regular part of my week.
I've got my eye on longer runs as time goes by too.

I feel ya. I’m starting to run again too. Did a slow 5k yesterday. The moat I’ve done was 4 mi. Gotta ramp it up in pace and distance, the run will be here b4 u know it0 -
Hi all, I have been successful on this plan before. Unfortunately this past year I fell into a funk because of the covid and also personal issues in marriage, excuses, so I gained back 30 lbs. As a result of xtra weight my knee is going out of whack and I feel awful. So, my daughter has beaten me over the head and dragged me out into this insane world and brought me to hair salon. I had the remnants of blond taken out of my hair and we all expected my natural color to be white, but freaky I wound up a champagne blond. Had it cut in atomic blond style, got brave. Today we r trying to get fairy hair lol. and then manicure and pedicure. I deserve this as I spent all last week steaming my kitchen and basically straining body to limits scrubbing. I am 78 years old ugh, close to 200lbs, 5' 6" and am not focused on looks but with this life style change am trying to change my spiritual well being and health. Will still continue to scrub floors. I am an introvert and writing this has been difficult but is yet another step in moving forward. Wish me success! Ty for listening, your success stories and tips help me and I Wish you all success and some giggles on this path. To those of us past the mid century mark I encourage you,in my 70's with this plan i did lose 30lbs before and will do it, you can do this, the first few weeks r not the easiest but then ityou will wonder why you didnt do this before ! Got to go and restart a diary... Best, B11

Just had Singing Zoom. I enjoyed it, but there were rather too many musical numbers for DH. I must say I enjoy bit of a performance!
Cleaner is coming to size up the house at 4 pm. Tidied up a bit.
Now must go and do my afternoon exercises.

Good Sharon, and that my friend is why I post my food photos, to give you ideas! My likes are odd sometimes, and some don't work out at all, but when I find foods that make my gut, and body happy, I like to share with you all💖👍

Well I have to run so I did read your stories and find this group to be inspirational keep it up. LIve life the best you can.
Sharon - there are strips you can get at the pharmacy to measure ketones in your pee. They will be by the glucose monitors. Ketosis is simply burning ketones. That shows up in your pee for diabetics it's bad for people in ketosis on purpose it's good. And I wouldn't worry too much about the protein burning. Thing is there are studies that show if you are in ketosis it is a muscle preservation state. I do not do the strictly keto diet like 70% fat and such. I do low carb and whatever protein I feel like but I try to keep protein at least 70 grams nothing outrageous. Your body will actually convert protein to glucose.
I drank like 3 glasses of raw milk yesterday plus ate some veggies so today I was only in a trace ketosis. I also didn't get my exercise in yesterday.
But today is my 1 week in for July and WI was 201.2 so down 1.9 pounds for the week. That's excellent for me. Usually I can only clock about 0.2 pounds per week. So I'm happy. But this is only like day 14 or something of low carb so I may be still losing water weight.
I didn't get hubby's lunch packed as he is joining this journey. So I'm off to meet him at panera for a lovely salad to break my fast.
I'm finding the intermittent fasting (IF) awesome. I'm not hungry and I can have so much more satisfying meals when I only eat 2 of them. The IF also increase Human Growth Hormone for muscle building and increases autophagy which is excellent for brain and other things.2 -
Machka—I spend lots of time climbing up and down stairs, too. I suspect you have several more flights of stairs than I do. Our bedroom is upstairs, and DH likes to hang out there to enjoy the view of the river. We have a sitting area next to our bedroom windows. There are many birds to see close by, ship traffic on the river farther away, and the State of Washington on the other side of the river.
Barbara—DH was a duck hunter many years ago but is no longer able or interested. We do our hunting and fishing at the grocery store. Taking on your DH’s nephews was generous and kind. I am happy for your nephew whose cancer could not be seen on his latest scan, and delighted for you, too.
Annie in DE-- I’m sorry that your mom has dementia and has become selfish.
BGypsy—Nice to see your post. :flowerforyou:
csofled—I love books, too. Reading is a joy. I am also a fan of knitting. DDIL is expecting a baby boy and I plan to ask her what color she would like for the baby blanket. She wanted variegated black and gray for number one. I managed to make a penquin face for a corner. I named the blanket “Penguino.” I don’t know whether she did or not.
I have had a quiet morning so far. Yesterday we had a clock problem and DH fixed it. Three cheers for DH! It is working well today.

Made two good decisions today.
First one was to not go out for a meal at the Persian restaurant when DSIL comes to visit. Covid numbers have rocketed here, there is no ventilation, and the place is packed with young people on a Saturday night. Although we are all double vaxxed, I think it is wise to stay away. I will order delivery from them instead. I texted my DSIL that we can still put our gladrags on and I will beautify the table, so it feels like going out. She thought it was a very wise idea. I can see champagne in our future!
Second one was to text my son to ask him if DH could watch the England/Italy final at their place. I expect they will let the kids stay up! It's a bit lonely for him in his study, but he would never think to ask for himself. My son said "Great idea!", and is going to properly invite him later. Hope they win!
The cleaner came and seemed very nice. She is starting on Monday, two hours once a fortnight. I told her not to try to do the whole house, but to stagger it. I prefer her to do fewer rooms, but to do them properly. She said, since she started the business, she has lost loads of weight.
Duck legs tonight, cabbage, marrowfat peas, and roasted new potatoes for DH.
I have been doing very well this week on the no alcohol. Friday night, tomorrow, is wine night!
My friend is rallying and able to walk with high oxygen and assistance. He might come out of hospital next week. His wife is insisting on a Care Package. Good for her.
My ex husband posted a message to him, with a photo of himself and his wife. Bit of a surprise, as he's not very active in the WhatsApp group. They are in Cornwall on holiday and were hoping to visit, but restrictions are still tight. He looked OK for nearly 74, and his much younger wife looked as if she spends hours in the gym, lifting weights! When he married again they had two kids who are now around 19 and 17. Don't envy them. Anyway it was nice to see a pic of them.

Afternoon ladies
Well did some running around, deposited a check at the bank, stopped to pick up Homer and stopped at the garage...I really like this guy.. honest as the day is long ,he said i dont need a tune up until 100,000 miles and asked about tires he said sometime before end of the yr but they are fine for now and car will go in for an oil change..so im happy about that..
I am a much better letter writer than a talker so i wrote Dan a 2 page letter, telling him that i loved him unconditionally but things need to change, asked if he was happy with his life and asked if there were parts that he wants to change.also said both his grandmother and dad have had depression issues and it is treatable..
I told him straight out the reason they keep him in the back cutting produce is because of his scraggly beard and stained and soiled clothes..i told him none of his friends would ever tell him..also told him that before I pass I want to see a healthy and happy young man ,and will help him with whatever needs to be done within reason.. he takes everything as criticism, and i told him to take it as love from his mom..9 -

I really havr to figure out what i will say to Dan ,I just dont want to see him live his life like a hemit and not care what he looks like my dad would be appalled at what he has become, and without grandpa's guidance he is like a lost ship..i will choose my words carefully but also be direct and im his mom and if his few friends ever broached the subject he would shut them out too..wish me luck.
I'm sorry you are struggling with this and that he is struggling, too. Is his father influential in any way? His sister? Your brother?

Hi ladies, I am back on the wagon after having hormonal issues which have been resolved. So started on July 4th at 175lb and already lost 3lb! Woot! Woot!
My goal is get back to the really fit, healthy and feeling great place I was in fall 2017. That's when my 11 yr old son was diagnosed with cancer and then I was 6 months later. We are both cancer free now but my recovery was slow as it was in my spine and I had back pain for a few years after. Finally off ALL pain meds, including oxycontin. I put on 35lbs and my goal is the goal I was working on then, to get below 140lb. I had been working on losing weight during 2016/17 and lost 35lb at than time. I was 48 so I know I can do it again at 52.
My Mind Game in on point and I am determined! I love to weight train and swim at the gym so just starting back with that. Pray for me, to keep on keeping on!8 -
Yesterday was my day off and sleeping in didn't happen. My house got cleaned like it hasn't in months. I even cleaned the spare room and got ride of a lot of maybe someday projects. The lady that lives with us is to clean the house every other week, but has not been doing a very good job the last couple months. But with me there yesterday and working she did clean some with me. I just was proud of myself for doing all I did. Then I went out and sprayed weeds and cleaned the front of the house. Bad part of the day is I ate way over my 1200. I have to get a handle on that . So now I am working 12 hours each today, tomorrow and Saturday, so see how it goes. Going to get really HOT here again the next couple days. Glad to be inside. My emotions are all over the place. Not sure what is going on.
Pip, Michele, Barbie and others that are at or close to goal weight. I am glad you are here and pray you stay. Each one is a special and I look to you for support and friendship for many years to come.
Acouple years ago one of the guys I work with brought some bear meat. He told me the best way to cook it and it was nasty. I will never try that again.
Kelly--Happy 23 years Ann!!
Debbie--So sorry things are so hard. Sending prayers and hugs!! You deseve love and attention. We all do.
Time to get some work done, got most of my staff evalutions done and happy about that.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND NE4 -
I’m only 5 pounds overweight and happy with that. I would like to lose that 5-10 pounds but not really trying. Just continuing to eat low carb high fat. I have been having frozen coffee from Dunkin and know these are not low carb or low calorie but I love them. I’ll give them up soon enough. School starts here the first week of August so I’ll be eating less when I work so may still get to my ultimate goal!
DH has agreed to stop the heavy drinking and is really trying. I’m really not a religious person but several things happened and I keep coming across things like the saying I copied above that are telling me to not give up and leave it to God.

I have a new knitting project. I have knitted baby blankets for each of our grandchildren and there is a new one on the way. I talked to our DIL about it and she wants a fox face on the corner of the blanket where the baby’s head will be when he is wrapped up. The blanket needs to be fox colored. I am happily ready to look for reddish orange yarn. I have a fondness for a Disney Cartoon “Robinhood” where Robinhood is a fox. This will be fun. 🦊5

Boo! My best laid plans ........
My son just texted me to say Bea is having to isolate again because a school mate tested positive. So DH isn't going over to them for the final. Plus, in retrospect, I think it's highly unlikely that my son will escape the virus with the huge numbers in Brighton and Hove. He is out and about as normal and has only had one vax.
Last time we looked after Bea, while was isolating, she was on her 8th day, but this would only be the 3rd.
So DH is condemned to a lonely cup final.

Almost done on the roof... I like it - the picture caught kind of an odd wiggle, but it's the picture, not the roof. If you're on a phone, it probably won't show up at all. The brown one is the old one, and the grey is the new one. I like it - which is good, since I will be looking at it for the next 30 years!
The shiny bit at the bottom is the tarps that are covering all the greenery, trying to save it from getting smashed. The trailer at right is massive - eight feet wide, 12 feet long, and overflowing with three layers of shingled roof. Just getting that weight off our roof will lengthen its lifespan!
Not replying to anyone because I'm having a hard time thinking--I have a raging headache, between the bangs, pops, thumps, generator noises and constant footsteps. Nice guys, though. Another good day, healthwise. Fingers still crossed. Egg (my cat) is, I assume, hiding in the trees and will come in and yell at me after they all go.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Well it was a crazy day, trying to babysit my uncle while my aunt is in the hospital. He wanted the company while insisting he was okay alone. I ought to go back over there, but it might be too much.
So I cancelled horseback riding because of a storm that didn't happen. We are expecting a rainy night with Elsa. I didn't do my exercise at four like I thought I would. I got hungry and ate snacks that I should have skipped. Mea culpa. I'm having a bad diet day, and team weigh-in is tomorrow.
One more thing to do tonight: I signed up for a zoom presentation on imagery in writing. I like to think my specialty in writing is action scenes, and then my weakness is literary description, similes and metaphors and such. So this should help.

Wow I did a lot more damage snacking tonight than I did yesterday eating out for lunch and skipping dinner.1

Lisa-- Your house is inviting & the gray roof is appealing. Did you choose it? It looks like it will do well for years to come.
Annie in DE-- You are good to help out your uncle while your auntie is in the hospital. He may not say so, but it is likely he is grateful for your support & company. :flowerforyou:
I have a knitting project to make a baby blanket for our unborn grandson. I have time to finish it, but my trouble is choosing yarn. I am likely to head for a craft store tomorrow that sells fabric and yarn. DDIL is telling me she wants an orange fox. I have some yarn on hold there and plan to go tomorrow morning.
