I did try to go but my clinic didn't have any more appointments. It was Friday. I tried to go to Urgent care and there was a patient who had her mask down at her chin who continually coughed, so I left. I went to son's that has central air and slept all afternoon. Swelling and redness is better today. I will have to get this into my chart. I think one thing that saved me from this going more serious is I immediately covered the stings with mud mask and apple cider vinegar to draw out the venom. I also used ice and elevation.
DrewB might have thrown up because of how upset I got from those stings. It was iincredibly painful. She was fine the rest of the day. I got the stain out by coating it first with baking soda and the using a solution of vinegar and dawn after rinsing out the baking soda.
Thank you for all the well wishes.3 -

Margaret - I have a gadget that sucks out stings. It even works on mosquito bites. I bought it to take to tropical climes years ago. I'm sure you can get them on Amazon for next time! It's a plunger with different sized nozzles.
Sorry about your attack. DH is currently suffering from a collection of mosquito bites he got at the cricket. Of course, I offered him the sucker, but he declined. He did use my Afterbite pen though. Bit better today.
All good. I heard my old friend Deborah Moggach on the radio today. So I emailed her to say hello. It brought back lots of memories. She is the woman who wrote the original book for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. On BBC Sounds it is on 'Saturday Live', about 65 - 70 mins in . Inheritance Tracks section.
I'm sure she will get thousands of responses, but I just felt the urge to say hi.

We had a wasp visiting my daughter and I on the deck last night. It drove us inside.
Kaitlyn arrived about 730 last night. We timed it to have a pizza supper with her then her and I went to work in the craftroom. It is going to be a huge difference. I’ll share pictures when we’re done. We worked until midnight last night. I’m waiting for her to wake up and we’ll start at it again. We do need to go buy a couple of under bed totes before starting again.
My back and hips will not like my by tomorrow I’m sure.

Sue - good to know your surgery is healing. Safe travels on your way to see your mum.="Whidislander;c-46123717"]Athena and parents went to a nearby falls. Not fishing. Just Athena being her sweet self!
Update! Son and 5 others were found guilty of not wearing their masks, but no disciplinary actions taken. Nothing put in his record. Husband and I both breathing a sigh of relief. 💖🍀👍
We need to go out and celebrate!!!
Hugs!
Rebecca
That is such good news. You really deserve to go out and celebrate.
Heather - Well done on first edit. Writing is so cathartic isn’t it. It really helps to get things off your mind and onto paper.
😍😍😍 Athena, Levi, Olivia, Phoenix. They’re all growing so fast. So cute.
Just hanging here doing my thing.
Tomorrow is our 55th wedding anniversary. It hardly seems like yesterday since we got married. I do feel very blessed that we are still together.

Hi Gals,
Barbara – coastie- Looking at the list of things to accomplish makes me wonder if you broke them down into little bite sized pieces and committed 10 minutes at a time (all ideas other gals are doing) would help you feel less overwhelmed and might make it easier to make some of the decisions that are hard right now…
Busy day ahead, I have a load of embroidery to do, and have been hired to make cookies and coffee cake for an upcoming week of teacher training a friend of mine is doing. The training is in a couple of weeks, but I am getting everything I can made ahead of time, just less stress on me to be prepared, and I can work around a hot spell we are supposed to have – I hate to bake on a hot day, with no air conditioning it just makes the house hotter.

PS Rebecca - such great news!!!!

Machka – Cycling is something you love. It is great that you are setting a goal to ride at least one 50 km ride each month. It seems like you are getting an important part of your life back. I love the Ralph Waldo Emerson quotation.
Heather – I am pleased that your son is getting his second vaccination. It is important for as many as possible get the vaccine. It protects you and those around you. :flowerforyou:
Lisa – DH & I each have a VW diesel car. His is a Passat, and mine is a Touareg. Both are wagons with excellent mileage and we are likely to keep them as long as possible. Levi is a charmer.
Allie -- Have fun making baby blankets. I had to start over with the one I’m knitting for our future grandson. Somehow, I got a snag that made it necessary to unravel the whole thing and start over. I have a good amount of time to get the blanket knitted. The baby isn’t due for several months.
Margaret – I am so sorry that you were stung.
Deer are not my favorite animals. :grumble: They are back at eating my plants—I was able to rescue one tomato plant and the other is now in a cage for protection. Blueberries are ripening. YUM!!!
Have a good day!

Off to get the CLAWS redone today. It's the one pampering I do for myself.
I know about deer, Katla. We have them wandering through our backyard and as much as I love watching them, especially the younguns, they've totally destroyed my beautiful, Big Daddy Hosta plants! They love the leaves so now they're down to stalks. smh.3 -
I’m planning a grocery trip this morning. I hope to get it done early. DH is expecting an important package in the next few days and needs to be downstairs to answer the door and sign for the package.2

Tracey I have had wasps try to set up household on sons deck. I catch them early. I blast it with water and then spray the area with peppermint oil. The wasps that got me were in neighbors yard. I was try to water our tree and put the hose over the privacy fence. They have an old wooden deck. The house is vacant most of the time because they live in Oklahoma and only come up about 3-4 times a year. That is why I put my hose over the fence no one is watering next door and we are in a drought. Our trees are suffering as a result. This tree is close to their lot.
As I feeling much better today but it is scary. Heather I don't know how effective that would be with wasps. They inject their venom and do not leave a stinger. I assume you could only work on one sting at a time. I do think the mud pack drew out some of the venom because it's purpose is to draw out impurities when you use it on your face. I quickly applied it to all my stings. You can buy small packets. I think I will get some to have in an emergency kit along with benadryl. I had 5 stings but some of the wasps stung me more than once.1 -
Getting my stationery done this weekend. Its just washi tape and a sticker on ruled paper, but I have fun. Its time that I just listen to music on Pandora with my headphones. I have been listening recently to BTS, a Korean pop band, or Leo Moracchioli, a Norwegian singer that turns popular songs into heavy metal songs. He's brilliant!
Bought some tri colored peppers the other day. So sweet and crunchy raw, but I cut one up and mixed with with a couple of spoonfuls of Lee's red beans and rice. Also in the pan was some kielbasa sausage, and a 1/4 of a huge yellow onion. It was glorious! That was my meal yesterday.
Today is breakfast of some sort. I am craving a soft fried egg, all creamy yolks, with some bacon and hearty grain toast. I just have to wait for a bit to have it. I have been devouring all my books I downloaded, just ebooks checked out from our local library and Amazon puts them into my Kindle account. Its crazy easy, and I return them with a click. Easy peasy!
On the first of the month I will check out train schedules and such for my middle of August trip to see eldest sister, then middle son's. Maybe a week at both places! Lee said the house will be so nice and quiet! We will both take a well deserved break from each other. Not that we're having problems mind you! Not figuring out dinner will be nice. Son and husband will eat simpler, and will miss my cooking! More tv dinners! I have to tell him no cast iron cooking though. He doesn't know what simmer means and is always cooking stuff on high. Like a poor can of soup gets literally boiled for a minute! He says whether it is low for 5 min, or high for 1 min, it still gets hot. Gaaaw!
Have a nice weekend ladies! Cheering my cup to ya's!

Hello ladies! I’m a bit lazy today. I did my morning walk though and a meditation session. I also sprayed my ant/mice/snake repellent around the campsite. My mix works so do it once a week. Makes everything smell good here. It’s clove and peppermint oils mixed with water and a solvent like alcohol so the oil mixes with the water. Simple but works for me! No ants around my site, no rodents inside or seen, and no snakes seen around my campsite. Been in the same spot for 3 years and have no pest problems si ce I do this. Reduces number of flies around too!
Here are pictures of the Wetlands Trail I walk in the morning. Half boardwalk half not.

Hi Everyone!
Looks like I'm pretty late to this discussion. I'm Dana from Southern Illinois. Just across the river from St. Louis, MO.
I just started MFP on July 5th. I'm 58 and been a yo-yo dieter my whole life. For years weight loss was about vanity and fitting in. Now it's about living longer and healthier. My highest weight was 221 a few years ago. Now I've been hovering around the 205 mark since I was diagnosed with a thyroid condition and started medication. My mom and brother also had it. Mom passed at age 64 (pulmonary embolism) back in 2004, so you see my concerns as I'm quickly approaching that age.
I'm currently at 200.2 as of yesterday. Reading this thread it looks like a very encouraging place to be. Sorry for such a long post. Thank you for sharing your kindness. Hope to continue into August with everyone. Have a wonderful day! 😊8 -
I'm having a semi-productive day. Got sheets in the laundry, paid a bill, tried on my bathing suit. It still fits but not snug. Loose is okay as I don't plan to be that active. I plan to go tubing on the Shenandoah in two weeks.
I did weigh in today, and somehow I lost more than I expected. Yay!
Last time I got stung, it got infected. No fun. Take care!3 -
Rebecca I planted some forget-me-nots at sons house such a delightful flower.1

Afternoon ladies
Well i bave been out and about ordered yarn and a crochet hook from Joann Fabrics, ugh got the wrong size hook, will try and return it. And ordered the right size on amazon, because of my points I got it for free.
Tracy and I went out we stopped at Walmart so she could get prenatal vitamins and then over to Joann Fabrics to pick my stuff up.took herto lunch at Panera.. that girl is full of anxiety. Can only eat certain stuff supposedly because of the IVF and she is freaking out financially because the OB office sent her a letter saying she has to pay them 6000 at time of delivery and they dont take payment plans, they said something about a global package that everything is combined and she is trying to figure out where the money will come from..
She is just worrying herself sick...ugh
I took information to see if I can call insurance and help her figure it out.2 -

I recorded West Side Story last weekend and we've just watched it and sung along!
It's a little strange for me as the boyfriend I had at that time in the 60s was crazy about the film. I mean obsessed! He bought me the LP and I played it over and over. Some of the songs seemed to refer to him and me. I've just been writing about him, so it was bitter-sweet watching it.
No rain yet. It's forecast again for tonight. Not a breath of air outside.

Rebecca ... so glad your son did not get in trouble for not wearing a mask!
Used vehicles ... I read that prices of both new and used vehicles are through the roof right now and will be until the "chip" shortage sorts itself out ... some say by the 3rd quarter of 2022. Delaying a purchase if possible is probably a good idea.
It was a busy week. Celebrated my mom's 90th birthday. We gave her a bouquet that included 9 roses (one for each decade); took her out to lunch at a swanky restaurant; made a cheesecake for dessert back at the house (with a new recipe that gave me fits when it went soupy before going into the oven); prepared a zucchini casserole that she requested for later that evening; and gave her socks with non-binding tops because she's having a lot of ankle swelling. An odd mix of things, but she seemed happy with it all. Sadly, my son either had a touch a food poisoning or is becoming sensitive to shellfish ... he was sick the whole way home (a 3 hour drive).
Went to lunch today with a friend of my older son. Their relationship was on and off, but, in what turned out to be the last hours of his life, he told me he cared deeply for her. Today at lunch she gave my husband and I a lovely memorial plaque that included one of his favorite Bible verses. She wanted to reminisce about him and, while it was not easy, I'm glad we met with her.
Afterwards we went to the cemetery. My son's headstone is not yet placed and probably won't be until late fall early winter. I'm going to look for some type of lawn ornament on a stake that I can mark his gravesite with. I see others have done so. His spot looks untended somehow.
Plan to harvest my mint and basil and see if anything new will come up. The Japanese beetles went to town on the basil. May or may not plant more basil. Don't need anymore mint.
Barbara ... I completely understand. I just seem to be spinning in circles as well. So much to do and when I finally have time to do something, well ... as you can see ... I get on the computer. My motivation is low.

Hi there! So good to see SparkPeople here. I’m still getting used to MFP. Is it worth it to get Premium? Seems so pricey when SparkPeople was free and amazing.1

Hi! My name is Nikki & live in Las Vegas. I’m new to this sharing but here it goes. I’m 54 and 5’2”. On May 21 went to the dr had high blood pressure & weighed 205. Heaviest I have ever been. Tried the exercise bike & couldn’t get passed a minute. My knees & back were killing me. Dr suggested this app & sent me to physical therapy. As of today down to 192 & can go 10 minutes on the bike! Noticed my size 16 shorts were feeling loose & put on a size 14 that I haven’t gotten into in years! I hope to continue this progress!16
