I love the camaraderie I see on this thread....and especially the adorable kid pics!
I'm so ready for the weekend but it will be busy. We are having friends over for dinner tonight. I found it really challenging to cook healthy when having barbecue but I have saved up for it. Tomorrow is a day with the Bigs....my two oldest grandkids...age 5 and 9. I will be ready for rest by the time they leave!

Welcome! It's an easy place to be, and we're glad you're here...

Met our friends for lunch. Had a grilled chicken breast with mixed greens. But did have what was a “Hummingbird cake”. Never had it. Really, never heard of it. It’s kind of like a spice cake. Normally, I wouldn’t have had it but Ming wanted it so we shared it. Just had water and then tea to drink.

It’s after 6 and Vince wants something for dinner. Personally, I’m really full. I don’t think I’ll get my steps in today

Margaret – I understand that if a dog isn’t feeling well, it will eat grass to sooth its stomach. Glad you are calling the doc

Anne DE – do you have to take your car for inspection? Here in NC they do the inspection at the garage. I’m pretty sure it was that way in PA, too.

    Diane TN – welcome!

Kelly … congratulations on the future grandson! Let me know what you think of the immersive VanGogh. I’m on the fence about getting tickets.

Margaret I hope the doctor was able to sooth some of the wasp pain. You are the second person today that has had to go to dr because of similar reaction. I have to go immediately if wasp stung. 2 bad reactions. Even the sweat bees cause a lot of swelling. I hope you and your fur baby are feeling better!

My husband and I are attempting to cycle at least one 50 km ride in each month of this year.

July's 50K is done! Bit chilly and windy on the way out, not so bad on the way back. Starting temp 5C (Feels like -0.7). Highest temp 10C (Feels like 4).

Thankfully we got it in before the weather turns. Apparently we're to have a winter storm system come through along with abnormally high tides.

We are expecting storms this weekend. I went round closing all the windows last night, but, so far, we have only had flashes of lightning. No doubt the rain will come. It's pretty gloomy outside.

My younger son gets his second jab today. It's been a long wait! Then I think they are off to Scotland to see his dad, my ex. They were going to drive (two days), but Edie told me they are now flying and leaving my DDIL behind with the dog. Good choice.
I always worry a little when the family are in the air. :/
I haven't spoken to them for a couple of weeks, so I will have to get an update on their plans. We are looking after the kids for the night of the 5th so that the parents can have a night away together. The kids are at 'summer camp' in the park, so we will just have to pick them up and deliver them back the next day. (It's really just a play scheme) Nellie will be going to kennels for the night.

Our painter texted me yesterday, asking if he could start next week. It was a bit short notice for us, as we have things planned, so we have agreed on the middle of August. That is a blank so far. :D I have given colours a few thoughts, but DH and I still have to visit the paint showroom to get some tester pots. I also have to decide on woodwork colours. So far I'm thinking Adobe pink with light grey and white woodwork. :* The usual dilemma over colours.
One complication is the very old wiring to the telephone and house alarm. Plus other random redundant wires. We don't know which is which and I don't want to pull out the wrong one!! The house is old and so are the wires!

Love to all. We have that expectant quiet before the rain.

    Morning, afternoon, and evening, all...

Already been awake for a couple of hours. Lately, if I get up in the night, I can often go back to sleep, but this wasn't one of those nights. Partially because I've broken out in hives all over my left calf, and I woke up scratching. Benadryl cream calmed it down, but it left me wide awake.

Corey's got to get up and go to work, one of the rare Saturdays where he has to go in. Should be just a couple of hours, and he'll be done. I might go up to the quilting circle, as they meet on Saturdays at 9 a.m. during the Farmer's Market. I've utterly given up on trying to sell anything at the Farmer's Market--it just doesn't work for me. Anything I produce to sell would mean turning something I love to do into a job, and I don't want to do that. I know I am very lucky to have the choice.

On that note, I have been wonderfully indulgent of late, reading my fifth book this week, swapping back and forth between two series--reading one book out of one cozy mystery series, then swapping to the other series. Luckily, most of it is on Kindle Unlimited, so free to me.

    Barbara AHMOD -
Corey and I have also been on the lookout for a small four-door pickup truck or an SUV, as right now, we have to use his company truck if we need to pick up lumber or anything large. Unfortunately, it's a seller's market right now, as used vehicles are very much in demand. We go back and forth about using my VW Passat as a trade-in, which would be helpful, but it's hard to give up a diesel car that easily will last another 250,000 miles (diesels live significantly longer than non-diesels) to buy a used car that may be a pig in a poke. Like you, I've put it to the side for the moment.

    KJ -
    Woot! Another boy!

    Heather -
All my sympathy for color choices. I had to choose our new roof color when it was replaced a couple of weeks ago, and when you know that you're going to live with it every day for years to come, it just adds more stress to the decision! Inside colors are even harder to settle on.

Time to go dive back into one of my in-progress books, and hopefully go back to sleep another couple hours.

    Later, y'all,
    Love,
    Lisa in AR

    Lisa how adorable....
All i know is the new baby will have dark hair and dark eyes..as both parents have brown eyes and Kyles hair is darker than Tracys..like i said she goes for the anatomy scan next month.
Because she did IVF they are sending her to a specialist for that type of scan and 2 weeks after that she has a test to check the babies heart.. i guess they do alot of testing with IVF babies.. 30 yrs ago it wasnt as advanced as it is now..
