17-Use one of your strengths to overcome a challenge today: hmm, to which challenge can I bring stubbornness?
18-Let go of the small stuff and focus on the things that matter:
Machka Thank Goodness for our stubbornness! those flowers, particularly in those colors. It will be a beautiful spring.
Allie ((hugs))
Kylia please share whatever you learn about lowering total cholesterol and triglycerides without statins. I’d love to get off Pravastatin as the joint and muscle aches that I had with Atorvastatin have started up again. :{
Katla best of luck with the brass wool!
Tracey yes Consumer Reports tests all kinds of products from air conditioners to yoghurts, but not vitamins or supplements. ConsumerLabs tests those. I’ve been researching both SUV’s and supplements and that’s how I made the mistake. ;}
Michele, Niacinimide is just one form of vitamin B3. Don’t know if B3 supplements contain enough of that form to be effective as a skin cancer preventative.
Vicki ((hugs)). Surprised the hospital doesn’t have a “no perfume” HR policy for staff.
Sue in WA holding good thoughts for Monday’s surgery.
Hope church council gets out early enough that I can join T at “Monkee Mania” a free music event at Azalea park.
Lighter, lovelies!

Machka – What a beautiful place to enjoy a bike ride. Good for you!
Pip –- I am delighted that Yogi is doing well.
Barbara –- The brass wool did not work. It was too big and bulky for tiny spots. We’re putting a liquid pesticide in each spot today. Here’s hoping this works. ;grumble:
(((Allie))) –- Calling your doctor is wise. I hope he or she is able to relieve the depression with appropriate medicine. :flowerforyou:
DH is making breakfast for us this morning and it smells wonderful. I’ve had a birthday card from our son and his family and I am feeling good about the day. Our youngest grandson signed the card with his family. I also had a zoom call from our daughter and family. I am 71. :bigsmile:

This is a very happy day. Last night I ate the first zucchini from my plant that didn't thrive at first and finally got going and this morning Jake picked three cherry tomatoes from one of the plants that started as a tiny plant on the kitchen windowsill and is now thriving in the raised bed.
Allie, along with going to your doctor, take a good look at how you spend your time. You say you never go anywhere but you drive your son to and from work, go to restaurants with friends, and go shopping. Maybe you need to inventory what you like to do and make you life more intentional. Also check to see if you are maintaining those strong spiritual practices that used to be a big part of your life.

Katla - A very happy birthday! I hope the rest of the day goes just as well.
Our guests have gone. Very enjoyable time. I needed a short nap afterwards, but I did not find it draining because they are easy company. Food and table decor excellent, of course!
Yesterday and today we managed to get DSIL down to the seafront on her knee scooter. She did very well.
Yesterday we sat out in the garden for champagne and brulée cheesecake. The weather was perfect for both days.
I'm going to eat left overs tonight for dinner and DH can make himself an omelette.
This is me in my folding Chinese sunhat with DSIL. You can see the scooter parked beside the bench.
A very good weekend.

Ladies I've been reading each day a few times a day to keep up on my phone but I don't like typing on my phone.
I want you all to know. This group means more to me than I thought it would. I really feel for you and enjoy just the honest life as it happens.
Ok so diet wise. I am low carb but I eat lots of veggies and made sure to get my fiber in mostly through veggies but I also take a prebiotics fiber that is from 4 different plants not just psyllium. I say that as a prelude to the question someone asked about the testing my blood.
My triglycerides are testing at 116 and 118. They were above 300 in Aug 2019, Sept 2020, and April 2020. In between those I could bring it down to between 170 and 250 through diet, exercise and supplements.
I have my own tester which uses test strips. I have used this test the morning of a regular doctor ordered blood test and the results from the tester were close to the lab results so I"m happy with it. When I change my diet drastically or go on an exercise program or what have you I can test to see what is happening. I test usually once every 2-4 weeks but when I do something new I test weekly. I can test Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides and HDL which allows me to calculate LDL and different ratios.
It wasn't cheap but I really like it. I got it at https://testsymptomsathome.com/index_pol.asp#upgrade
Back from my trip and my own DramaOk so I had a lovely trip. I went to the spa. I gambled. I talked with my daughter who is often very closed off. I stayed on my diet as I was preparing for a gallbladder cleanse. Which means my Thursday weight wasn't real and this Thursday will probably be a 'gain' I went for a mile walk, did some mild muscle building exercises and took several flights of stairs each day.
However on the way to the place during the 5 hour drive I learned my grand niece's 2 month old son (I helped raise my niece) was in the hospital and there was an investigation due to shaken baby/broken ribs. The baby was discovered by my niece and the baby's mother (my grand niece) after going out shopping and leaving the baby with the father and grandfather. The father has been arrested.
I don't believe my niece adn grand niece had any knowledge or complicity in this and they took the baby to the hospital right away. My grand niece has kicked the father out. The local DHS has said they want to place the baby with family but that my niece, and the mother aren't eligible. No one other than the husbands parents live in the area. So I am trying to figure out how to help. It seems the option is to move temporarily to Huntsville AL to get custody.
In the meantime, my niece called the hospital to get an update and they have released the baby who apparently was placed in foster care without any contact from the hospital or social worker.
It's so messed up.
