but for these meetings they are big school wide meetings and it's not my call!1

When I meet my friends, it is for a walk. I won't sit and talk or meet for a meal or beverage. I frequently attend meetings on Zoom using my phone with my camera off and take a walk or work in the yard during the meeting. They are not meetings for work, so no one can fire me for having my camera off.
When asked to do something I don't want to, I say, "Sorry, that won't work for me."
Meetings are deadly The last few years I work, the administrator had this bright idea that we should sit in a circle facing each other without tables so there was no place to put a beverage or your elbows or a notepad. Those meetings were extra deadly.

I meet friends for a walk or exhibit or something. as much as possible. not everyone' is game and some are tired and just want to sit 'and eat)
I have one friend I met many times for coffee or meal and I suggested the park near his work thinking it would be nice but I think he - weirdly doesn't like the park! he used to go there as a kid and maybe it has negative associations! he's really geeky and not a nature guy. but with many others we are able to walk. going to an exhibit is also a good way to meet up for me Abu ti'm happy to sit and have a coffee afterwards.1 -
Good morning all! Happy Thursday!
Ezraella- Welcome! We are a chatty group, but our chats range from daily life, family, relationships to people and to food, exercise...chime in when you feel the urge. Remember to bookmark the group!
Vicki- (((hugs))) I used to have dreams like that after my parents passed. They do set you on the wrong foot for the day.
Heather- Glad you were able to get the tablet/info switch sorted! Technology stuff is not one of my strong points. I am sure I would need to google how to do it.
Pip- Love all of the jukeboxes, pinball machines, and neon signs! What a fun room! Weird about the campsite/hosts. Glad you were able to get a room at the hotel!
Rebecca- The "candied" apple pics are pretty, but the twig/holding stick is really bothering me! lol I am positive they wouldn't hold an apple up right!
Machka- The image of the coffee cup "...meeting that could have been an email". I feel this with every bone in my body!
speaking of meetings- I attended our monthly meeting of the board of directors for WMHA (West Michigan Historical Alliance), last night. This is the second month in a row that we were not a quorum, so we couldn't vote or make decisions on anything. It is a twenty minute drive for me to get to the meeting place. We offer zoom attendance. It really grinds my gears that adults can't let people know that they can't make it.
Oh, my licensing consultant popped in on Tuesday morning! She did a quick ten minute walk around and checked my paperwork and I am now officially a group childcare home! Yea! lol The initial license that I got was a 6 month probationary one. I guess they do that to give us time to get staff in and get them trained and to decide if going group is REALLY what we want to do. SO...I am all set to take on more kids if I want. lol With a couple of my kiddos in school this fall it puts my daily attendance between 6 and 8 children, depending on the day. I might take a couple more children this fall. I will have a current family's newborn in December/January. Then another current family has a baby due in February (so that baby will start with me around April/May). Then...next fall...my oldest three/four will be in school full time. It is always changing. Some of my kiddos I wish I could keep with me forever. Some of them, I am happy to see them head off to school! lol
My DYS is in Texas, currently. He left yesterday morning and arrived at DFW around 4pm. Had a mixup with his rental car so he didn't make it to my DD's place until around 7:30 pm. I guess Joaquin went wild! "Uncle Colin! Uncle Colin!" DD told me Joaquin was crazy; climbing all over "Uncle Colin", trying to show him everything "new" in the house and talking his ear off. Miguel was equally crazy (even though, at two, he doesn't remember Uncle Colin)! It makes my heart very happy to hear how much the boys love their Uncle.
Well, I better scoot. The little ones will be arriving in a few minutes. I made pork carnitas in the crock pot while I slept; so I have to get that into the fridge and get some laundry folded. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
Yes me too a bit, give me a dang popsicle any day. (oh and by the way popsicle took me a good two minutes to figure out how to spell. My brain started with pop cycle!)

Went for my evening walk. My right hip is hurting. Hopefully, rest tonight will heal it. Then again, it takes longer for us to heal
Rebecca – hope your oven gets fixed real fast. Can you grill?
Anne DE – good for you!
M – when Vince worked for Mars, what they did was have a “punctuality” bonus. If you clocked in on time, you got the bonus. Even the Mars brothers clocked in! This ensured that people were there for a 9a.m. meeting.

Amazingly enough the broiler works just fine, but the lower part doesn't. So not the main circuit but the heating element? 28th the electrician will call and tell us the 2 hr block he can fit us in. There is only a couple of electricians on this dang island!

Last night I was chopping at the bit, making Lee's dinner! I decided to not have the pasta meal because, well those kind of meals are my trigger meals. So made spaghetti sauce, noodles, chicken fried cube steak, cheesy French bread, and walked away! I was proud of myself. Sat with my bottle of San Pellegrino mineral water and wrote letters, and watched tv with husband. This way of eating is tough, but I am tougher!

Hello group,
My name is Sharon.
This is my first time in this group.
I'm 53, wife, mother of 3 grown children, grandma to 5 granddaughters. I have disabilities Fibromyalgia, 9 Herniated Discs, Arthritis, asthma, ptsd, anxiety etc... I'm 228 lbs, trying to get to 160 lbs. I've tried everything and am tired of yo-yoing. I have high blood preasure (even though I'm on 2 different BP pills daily and I have hi cholesterol and a family history of heart attacks. I have a hard time walking around for more that 10 mins because of my back, so I don't do exercising, So I have to do it through diet. I take 9 different meds aday mostly for pain, BP, cholesterol & IBS-C & Acid Reflux. The doctors want me to have surgery on my stomach. I don't want that so I'm trying to lose weight myself. I have no support at home.So I've turned here trying to find some. My weigh in days are Monday. 💕

Cooked our favourite skate with black butter for dinner. Heaven! All the calories are in the butter.
Poor DH ricked his neck overnight and is in a lot of pain. He is wearing a collar, which got some comments on the Singing Zoom! Ibuprofen doesn't touch it. I am being very kind and helpful.
The zoom was a bit of a mess and he nearly quit, but I got him to persevere. The songs we had downloaded were not played because the pianist did not have the music. So we had to Google lyrics for other songs. Oh well. I enjoyed it.
Lots of love to everyone. In my own experience, the times when I have felt exhausted, or depressed, are when there is a problem I am not addressing and it is weighing on me. I have had many such times in my life and sometimes it is a small tweak and other times radical action is required.
Julie -I have attended several 5 rhythms classes/weekends, including one involving mask making and wearing. I used it in teaching my drama workshops. All these things are tools for self-discovery.

Kelly--Great new about getting your licensing. I remember how hard you worked to get it all lined up.
Pip-Glad you were able to get a place at your other camp ground. Not sure why they would like without showers or restrooms anyone would want to stay there.
DH and went and got our 2nd Covid shot this morning. I am back at work and as the day goes on not feeling the best. Just praying I do not throw up and can get till time to go home. Still a lot of people not getting the shot and waiting to see if they will really fire them. I guess I am glad it is done and I don't have to worry about losing my job for that.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND NE5 -
Sharon from Winnipeg ... welcome! This group is here to support you in whatever ways you decided to address your health. MFP is all about calories in vs calories out (CICO), but you will find those who follow specific diets and/or fasting plans. We address all aspects of life as that's what has most often affected our weight. Join in whenever something interests you ...
Vicki ... the second shot is harder. Hope you can get home soon and just rest.
Kelly ... congratulations!! Can't imagine anyone more suited to run a day care than you!
I have found a way to scoot around the kitchen ... not good ... that means I've also found a way to snack! I do think, however, that I am losing some weight. Some of my clothes ... the ones my husband hasn't shrunk in the wash so far, seem a little looser. I'm hoping it's so. Tomorrow I go to the orthopedic doctor to see how the leg is healing.

Sharon from Winnipeg, welcome!
Jump in and ask questions or tell us about your day or whatever you want to talk about. We will chime in. I used to weigh 250 and have kind of settled in around 195. I did this by logging faithfully and checking in here often. I have been stuck for about two years, so I’ve recently started a new eating plan concentrating on meeting my protein and fiber goals and limiting “obvious” carbs to one serving a day. Because of the naturally occurring carbs in fruits and veggies, this keeps me right at 40-30-30. I haven’t been doing it long enough to see if it’s going to kick my metabolism in gear, but i’ve been at it long enough to say it has killed my cravings for bread and sugar. I’m feeling pretty good about it right now.
More Covid news in spoiler..My sister-in-law who exposed my parents is now in the hospital with Covid Pneumonia. My brother doesn’t seem to have it yet. It will be 5 days since her positive test tomorrow. My parents seem to be fine. Hopefully they’ve dodged the bullet.everyone in my niece’s (from other sibling in NOLA) house has full blown Covid, but they are fighting it. They’ve been vaccinated. My SIL has not. SIL is mid-forties, heavy smoker, quite plump. I’m worried for her and my brother. )

Sue - I’m so incredibly sorry about your Mom.
Heather - I can only handle so much alone time as well. So happy you have your tablets switched over.
Evelyn - same here for recycling. We pay a fee upfront to cover the fee for getting rid of electronics and tires.
Vicki - Anger is how my depression shows itself. I know when I’m getting angry for no reason I need to look at my meds again.
Pip - Love all the jukeboxes.
Kelly - Congratulations!
Sharon in Winterpeg - welcome.
I’ve been reading along since Monday and making sporadic notes. It seems to have been a busy week.
Monday night my Grandson and I spent the evening together at the Lego store. This store has a printer type thing that you can design your own mini fig. It costs $16.00 and you get a brick with your name on it. It is 1 of 3 in North America. We then went to Subway for supper. We have had a selfie taken every year including the night he was born, as we were eating we looked at previous years. I said to him, “isn’t it funny how you look older every year and I stay the same”? He was quick with his response and asked me if a vampire got to me.
This is Bob Puggerton, if Puggerton and the Hounds, the first pug rock band. Their first single was Bark at my Heart.
I love his imagination.
Tuesday and Wednesday night I spent all evening talking a friend off the ledge. I think she’s good tonight. I hope so, I need a break.

Did Slim in 6 DVD then did some walking outside but it started to drizzle so I came home and did a Leslie Sansone video. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Boot DVD.
Have a dermatologist appt tomorrow. Just a routine thing
My hip still hurts, but it’s a lot better than it was yesterday. One thing I did find, tho, is that it seems to hurt most right after I’ve been sitting down. Guess I’ve got to keep moving, which isn’t a bad thing.
KJ congrats! You deserve it, all you do for those kids
Beth – it probably is a good thing that your husband shrinks clothes in the wash/dryer since now you’re going to need smaller clothes anyway. Just think of the money he’s saving you!!!!
drkatie – glad for your parents, but so sad for everyone else. I’d be super worried, too.
Tracey – out of the mouths of babes….lol. You are a good friend
Lisa – thanks for popping in

Michele - my physiotherapist that finally got me on the road to recovery with my hip told me the absolute worse thing you can do with sore hips and back pain is to sit. He said never sit with your hips above your knees which means most comfy furniture is taboo.
Kelly - Thank you, I think he’s pretty special. For anyone with a grandchild that loves Lego and you live near one, this was a wonderful place for him to spend his birthday. I had no idea they did anything for birthdays. When we first walked into the store Jonah asked me what to look at first. I told him it was part of his birthday present so he could decide. The store attendant overheard me and asked him if it was his birthday. He said yes, Grammie’s too.
She immediately pointed him to the mini figs and told him he could make one for free. It does included 1 accessory. Jonah was looking for a sombrero, “he’s learning Spanish this year, he asked an attendant if they had any and the guy went in back and gave it to him. Then he was given a popsicle and a pizza for his mini fig. He was excited about that, but before we left the store the supervisor came over and gave him a birthday card signed by all the employees working.
He knew all of the employees because we were there for over 2 hours and he told all of them what he was creating. 😂 They all listened and gave suggestions. He was treated like royalty and can’t stop talking about it, especially the card.

Kay,
My fully vaccinated brother was discharged from the hospital today. He is convalescing from Covid pneumonia. I believe he might have died had he not been vaccinated. He was pretty sick on admission, but his hypoxia and fever rapidly resolved once oxygen, Remdesivir, and corticosteroids were started. There is no way he would have had a response like that had he not been vaccinated.
I worry about people with severe symptoms and no vaccination.

Karen - I worry too and unfortunately a few are my friends and family. 😟
I just popped in to share this.

Tracey – that’s interesting about not having your hips above your knees. I’m thinking that also refers to someone having their legs crossed (one over the other). What a wonderful birthday!
Karen VA – that’s wonderful about your brother. I worry, too

My super-comfy armchair is this so that if I sit upright in it, my knees and hips are at the same level, but when I prop my feet on a footstool in front, the knees would be slightly lower.Snowflake1968 wrote: »Kelly - Thank you, I think he’s pretty special.
