My name is Donna. I am 61 years old, 5' 5" tall. I live in the Midwest of USA. I am in remission for breast cancer, have Type 2 Diabetes, an under active thyroid, a touch of high blood pressure, some osteoporosis and am working to get healthier. I know losing weight and exercising more will help all of these issues.

CHALLENGE STARTING WEIGHT (FROM August 31, 2021): 186.8
    CHALLENGE ENDING WEIGHT: 191.6
CHALLENGE TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS GOAL: Total Loss of 15 pounds to land at 171.8

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
    250’s; 240’s; 230’s; 220's; 210's; 200's; 190's; 180’s; 170's; 160's; 150’s

I TRY TO WEIGH ON THE 1ST AND LAST DAY OF EACH MONTH ALSO. I HAVE MADE THE GOAL OF LOSING A LITTLE MORE IN SEPT AND OCT AND KEEPING IT A LITTLE LESS THROUGH THE NOV AND DEC HOLIDAYS (AND BAKING SEASON.) I THINK THAT 15 POUNDS OVERALL IS A MORE REALISTIC GOAL FOR ME ESPECIALLY SINCE I LIVE IN A VERY SNOWY AND ICY AREA AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AND EXERCISE ARE DIFFICULT AFTER OCTOBER 1ST. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT I GET AND STAY AT A HEALTHY WEIGHT DUE TO HEALTH REASONS I WILL SHARE ALONG THE WAY. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! I AM ROOTING FOR YOU AND SUPPORTING YOU ALL 100% WE CAN DO THIS!

Cumulative Weight Loss so Far: 2.0 GAIN

Nov 01…..…..189.4…..(Trend Weight 187.7)…..Pizza, Candy and other Spooky junk for Halloween. Now it’s time to get back on track! I am too dangerously close to getting back into the 190’s.

Nov 04…..…..189.6…..(Trend Weight 189.1)…..Ouch! Daughter’s birthday celebrations so close to Halloween is a recipe for disaster!

Nov 11…..…..189.6…..(Trend Weight 188.6)…..I hate this new format. Colorless and boring. It does not promote wanting to join or participate. Lifeless! I vote no! All who agree should contact MFP!

Nov 18…..…..190.6…..(Trend Weight 189.7)…..Very bad news from Primary Doctor yesterday in regards to my blood work. A1C 11.8 so she will be adding more medication for Type 2 diabetes in conjunction with what I am already taking. Thyroid has gotten worse and my medication will be increased. My sodium is super low and so a medication for that is being added. My LDL cholesterol is bad so she is adding Atorvastatin for help that. What a hot mess! These medications will help, but I know in my heart of hearts that diet and exercise is the healthiest answer to all of this. I’ve got to do better! With all these holidays coming up, it just couldn’t be more challenging! I’m thankful that I’ve made enough improvements in my lifestyle and my weight over the past couple of years to stay in cancer remission as weight was very important to my type of cancer. But I’ve got to roll up my sleeves, there is more work to be done.
Nov 25…..191.0…..(Trend Weight 189.7)….. Emotional eating which I know helps nothing. Emotional binge for sure. Dinner is Sunday. I’m making something small for me & son and one handyman that is here today. I’ll keep it in better control!

    Nov 30…..189.2…..(Trend Weight 189.7)…..

    Nov Start: 188.2
    Nov Actual: 189.2
    Nov Goal: 173.8

Cumulative Weight Loss so Far: 2.4 GAINED

    Dec 01….. 188.7…..(Trend Weight 189.5)…..
    Dec 07….. 188.2…..(Trend Weight 189.4)…..
Dec 14….. 191.6…..(Trend Weight 190.4)….. The death of my brother has really found me spiraling out of control. It has been horrid. Couple that with travel for Christmas shopping and all the cravings that come with being off plan and it’s a recipe for disaster. Hell, I haven’t even started baking yet. I’ve got to get a grip. Nothing will bring him back.

Dec 21….. 191.4…..(Trend Weight 190.5)….. Another death this week. A friend of 20 years age 55 from an Asthma attack. I had a full-on binge yesterday of BBQ chips and donuts that I bought at the store when I went to get water. It was so bad that I skipped dinner just to off-set the calories. I feel like death warmed over today. I have none of the energy that good foods would have given me. This is just another example of my food killing me, like a poison because of my relationship with it. I’ve got to do better! I know this was emotional eating. Too many death's this month. But it solves nothing!

Dec 28….. 193.6…..(Trend Weight 191.7)….. Not doing well during the holidays at all.

Dec 31…..191.6…..(Trend Weight 191.7)….. On December 31, 2020 my weight was at 207.0. Down 15.4 pounds this year and for that I am grateful. I plan on working even harder in 2022. Happy New Year everyone!

    Dec Start: 189.2
    Dec Actual: 191.6

@Xellercin Yeah, getting healthy and regaining your range of motion makes exercise more difficult for sure, but good for you keeping that a priority. That will hopefully help in your recovery.
Thank you for your kind words! I've lost some weight in the past but it doesn't count for me because of the surrounding circumstances (long story). I'm on a journey to be really healthy the first time ever, learning to make lifestyle choices and little habits that work for me long term. I actually injured myself trying to lose weight but was thankfully able to recover. I've since found some exercises I can follow safely, and MFP to help me learn about portion and food choices. I'm trying some intermittent fasting too, just shortening my eating window to jump start my body's response. Skipping days doesn't work for me but lengthening my fast seems to help. Besides, it gives more time to focus on the to do list.

    @JenKindo @ashleycarole86 @Chalmation @deepwoodslady nice job on your goals!

@deepwoodslady I'm so sorry for your losses (((hug))

@Beeps2011 Don't give up - you were at least maintaining during a time when many gain a lot of weight. I was stuck in the same small range for many months until I made a few small changes. Keep trying!

@goal06082021 I hope to reach onderland some time next year (I have many more to go until then though) Nice job this challenge! I don't think I'll be joining another challenge yet as I'm prepping to move soon.

Good job everybody! Even if you didn't make your goals, you tried, and trying matters! Keep making those small changes!

I probably won't be joining another challenge because we have a big move coming up and I need to focus on that. I will keep trying to exercise, track my calories, and have a smaller eating window. I hope to arrive at the new place/community a "new person"

8lbs over 3 months is not a bad rate of loss at all. Far more realistic than 35lbs. I lost 80lbs at a rate of about 1-3lbs/month and it was great. It was easy, steady, and I had no loose skin. Also, you managed not to gain during a time of year where most people gain like crazy.

I would call that a success. Focus on what works, and just keep doing that. Time will take care of the rest. Impatience is the main cause of weight loss failure, so try to look further down the road. Keep doing what you are doing if it's working. Perhaps tweak it to make it easier, or a little more efficient, but don't be down on yourself for a loss that many people would kill for around this time of year.

Hi, I am in for another cycle. Thanks for starting this again.

STARTING WEIGHT/DATE WITH MFP: about 175 on 8/19/12 (been here a long time, lol, but kinda off & on)
Lost about 25 pounds, then pretty much maintaining, up a little, down a little, but would like to lose another 15 or so.
Ended last challenge at end of Aug. at 151.94# & didn't weigh for the month of Sept. I felt like daily weighing was getting to me, so tried not weighing for a month. Seemed to pretty much maintain, but now I am ready to get to a healthy weight.

    Challenge starting weight: 152.07
I weigh every day & average them on Monday, so my numbers are the weekly average.
My goal for this cycle will be 5# (I amended this a bit, as I felt I was being too aggressive)

    Oct. 4= 152.07
    Oct. 11= 151.4
Oct. 18= DNW at dd's house & no scale
    Oct. 25= 152.56

    Oct. loss= +.49
    Oct. average weight= 152.01

    Nov. 1= 150.75
    Nov. 8= 152.84
    Nov 15= 150.77
    Nov 22= 150.43
    Nov 29= 151.63

    Nov. loss= +.88
Nov. average weight= 151.28 at least my average is going down

    Dec 6= 150.57
    Dec 13= 150.34
    Dec. 20= 150.69
Dec. 27= DNW at dd's house & no scale

    Dec. loss= +.12
    Dec. average weight= 150.53
