Our Zoom went well. Lots of news. We are scheduled again for the 25th.
I love to talk with my old friends. We have been friends since 1964. We kept in touch through all the years, but small children and geographical distance meant it was difficult our middle years. So glad it survived. I have written about our friendship in my memoir, but I have edited out some stuff that curious minds might want to know. ;) Our friendship kept me alive in my teenage years. <3<3<3

Still not 100%. But I WILL SURVIVE!

Had a fun time at the shops this afternoon. Chats in the flower and card shop, teasing in the butcher's, success at the hairdresser (Not paying a deposit), lovely stuff and chat at the deli. I feel so lucky to live here. :D

Excess caffeine seems to turn into acid reflux at bedtime. I have been thinking about switching to caffeine free tea later in the day. I particularly like peppermint tea.

If you like cinnamon- like red hots/ Fireball- there is a tea we get usually at Grocery Outlet but also available on Amazon- Good Earth Sweet and Spicy. It is really amazing-no caffeine. A friend who was drinking a bit too much Fireball whiskey tried this and now drinks that and rarely drinks the Fireball anymore.

I start the day with echinacea tea with a touch of honey in it. DH makes it and brings it upstairs for me. The rest of the day it’s decaf coffee with soy milk, and tea after dinner. I occasionally have a chia latte before bedtime. I love it’s warm spiciness.

Machka: <> The cases are rising in UK as well.
Heather: <> 👍🏻 sounds like you are on the mend.

I drink two large mugs of tea with milk at breakfast time, one after lunch, one mid-afternoon, and one after dinner.
I have one mug of strong milky coffee around 10.30 am. I might have an extra tea if someone offers me one.
I drink flavoured fizzy water with lunch and a beverage of some sort as an aperitif around 5 pm and another with dinner. Sometimes alcohol, sometimes AF.
I love my tea, proper British tea. Strong, with milk, no sugar. Nothing comes close. :D<3

Pip - Thanks for the wonderful photo of your trio of dogs. It is so good that you still have Yogi. I love it and still miss my old dog, Schooner. We will be looking for a puppy after Christmas. :star:

Barbie – I like the photo of your poodle, too. Dogs are such good companions. It is hard for us to wait to get another. We’ll be looking for good breeders when we get home from our trip to VA. I also hope to start a new Project Linus blanket when we get home. :flowerforyou:

Rebecca – Your boys have all grown up. I like the photos of them, especially the photo of your boy and you together. Is the photo Owain?

Like his heartrate might get to 190 but on the medication it’ll only get to 180. They did give him some more intravenously in the ambulance so that it would get into his system faster.

August = mid/late winter. That's when the virus seems to be most active.

It's delightfully quiet out there. A few people have walked by because we're allowed 2 hours of outdoor exercise a day, but no cars!

Just the wind and the waves.

Machka--So glad to hear it is not cancer. Pray the meds help.

Well I am caught up with reading. Been an interesting last 10 days. Enjoyed my 5 days off and really had to push myself to come back to work. DH is still having problems and another trip to the ER. He does have the heart tests this next Tuesday. He has been working several hours a day and is doing better.

Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND NE <3

I hope your husband gets some answers.

I'm hoping the meds help too ... and don't cause me problems with my heart. Evidently that is a real side effect. I had to go for a baseline ECG before I started and have a second ECG booked in about 10 days to see how things are going.

Michele you sound so calm despite the emergency trip the hospital.

    Heather get well soon.

Flea I'm glad you are getting a month of sick leave soon. Understandable that you be so tired with chemo.

Rebecca, sorry you had. rough night.

Tracey- I think seven would be the earliest "normal" wake up time in Paris. In the country-side or just outside of Paris things can run an hour or so earlier.
I would say 9 am is the usual starting time for work in PAris.
It can even 10 am in some fields. It's very rare to have a class or meeting before 8:30, which is the early-bird hour bemoaned by many. Some shops open at 9 am but others at 9:30 or 10.
Dinner is never before 7pm (which is early). 8pm is a more common prompt dinner time and in fact one can have dinner at 9pm or 9:30. It's not unusual at all.

Barbara, I am not going now but I have had good experiences with acupuncture.

Where I work, we can show up anytime between about 7 am and 10 am. :)

A few people turn up really early (between about 7 and 8) but most people turn up somewhere around 8:15 and 9:15.

Stores usually open about 10 am.

    Cafes about 7 am.

    Uni classes at 9 am.

Dinner somewhere between 6 pm and 8 pm.

    Machka in Oz

It sounds somewhat like here except - work wouldn't be open at 7 am- I think most offices would be closed and locked till at least 8 or 8:30. When I lived in the usa and had a summer office job as a teen we could arrive at between 7 and maybe 8:30...?

And dinner never starts before 7 here. (in Boston you could have dinner from 4:30 to maybe 9pm latest. I remember one time telling my Dutch then-boyfriend that I was having dinner at 10 or 10:30 after dance Classe-which we did a LOF - he thought that was so funny and wierd almost unbelievable to have dinner at 10pm)

What do I drink in the morning?

I really prefer a cold drink to a hot one, especially in the summer. For quite some time I have been starting my day with one scoop of Advocare Spark, two scoops of unflavored collagen, and one packet of either Advocare Berry Collagen or one packet of True Lemon Raspberry mixed with 32 ounces of water then poured over ice. This gets me caffeinated and 25 g of protein right off the bat. I’ve been looking for alternatives to the Advocare so I’ve been experimenting with some homemade “loaded teas” similar to the Herbalife ones springing up in so-called Nutrition shops all over. I get my recipes from a website called silver lining lessons. I like them, but they don’t have the collagen so I have to get it another way and if’s not as good. Once the weather gets colder I’ll have a cup of hot tea, and I can mix my unflavored collagen in that.

Drinks - I have gotten into an old Coke (the drink) habit again. I can’t believe I’ve allowed done it. There are still a few cans in the fridge and I won’t be buying more except my Sunday night treat after they are gone. I drink one large 2 cream coffee every workday. Sometimes on weekends and sometimes not.
In the Winter I enjoy a nice tea in the evening. Unlike Heather I like it weak and with sugar. My paternal side of the family is of English heritage and they shook their heads at me a lot!

Michele - I always think I’m going to enjoy a musical and then never do. I do like dinner theatre where there is a lot of singing along with the story though.
My daughter just bought In the Heights and brought it out to watch sign me. I couldn’t get into it or follow it. I did enjoy the dancing

Machka - I amazes me how strict Tasmania is in a good way. I’m curious how they enforce the rule breakers. We are in poor shape here because of the rule breakers.

I made some more crafts today before and after the visit to the dietitian. She told him what I have been saying for 2 years but now it’s new. 😂.
She told him he has a relatively healthy diet. He needs to up the veggies and watch his portions closer. We have both ignored our diets for the last year and a half. He will be done work in the next couple of weeks and we will be eating suppers together again, it will make a huge difference

My back and hips were hurting a lot this morning, I did my exercises that the special physiotherapist had given to me and it helped a lot! I need to remember to go to those faster. Now I have a terrible pain in my right calf. I just can’t seem to get pain free. It’s very frustrating and tiring.

I took some pictures of our crafts today. These are not our best ones that we do, Rodger still has to burn a bunch for me to colour. Our best seller is scenes and Rodger is the designer of what the ornament is, but all colours and painting is by myself and sometimes our youngest daughter. I have even been inspired by a photo Penny at the North Pole shared a couple of years ago. That ended up selling a whole line.

I will post them in a separate post in a spoiler.

    It's Friday!
I fell asleep reading last night. That wasn't because I was bored, just tired. 😉 The Grace and Strengths that you all are examples of is inspiring. Words have such a big impact on people.
    Work
Grrrr! SIL says that I dont understand that when Steve and I are gone that she is pretty much solo versus when she is gone and I still have Steve to help. Really? He can't help at counter. How about it is easier when you have employees. DH says he feels like I don't care if we make money or not. Really?? There is a fine line between making money and customer service. Some things you just do so that customers come back when there is a big problem. G (who is SIL's stepson) has no mower experience and really hasn't figured out who knows the answers. He keeps going to SIL for answers (SMH) . He argued with me when i said i need an engine torn down for possible warranty situation.
I had a customer yesterday who said he was excited that I was there. He says I am the friendliest and most knowledgeable person there. He gets stressed if he has to speak with anyone else. 😎
I have logged, but water suffering. I just don't drink a lot of anything. One or two cups of coffee in the morning. Try to drink water. Occasionally decaf or green tea in evenings or an adult beverage. I don't drink soda (or pop or cola depending on where you are from). I never have drunk (?) much. Probably training from school. No time for bathroom between classes or having to ask to go if in class. I try to get a glass of water when take vitamins when I remember.

    Allie Have fun!

Laundry done. Kitchen cleaned. Sheets and mattress cover changed. At least house feeling happy. Not sure if DH is going to allow us to be off tomorrow since plans had changed, but we will see. It isn't like I dont have work to do, but that could be done from home. Maybe i should take him to work and i will work from home 🤣🤣🤣

One friend just lost both his parents in less than 2 days. One friend's mother is in ICU. My friend is recovering from blood clots in her lungs. My MIL's Male friend had a major stroke sometime on Wednesday. His DIL found him when she got home from work. Not good. Another friend's mother is in ICU fighting lung cancer. So much sickness and death around us. So I am going to count my aches and pains as evidence that I am alive and really in good health.

    HEALING thoughts to all!
PEACE in all things to everyone!
THANKFUL for the support of wonderful women!

Kylia in Ohio where Fall weather comes back tonight

Kylia, that is a lot of loss and illness around you. Losing both parents in 2 days is so brutal. Ws it COVID? or other stuff.

So sorry about the work situation. Driving your DH to work sounds like a good idea. That way you will have some time alone (even if you have to work from home). and your SIL will not be alone. There is a Ted.Com talk that says that needing to drink 8 glasses of water per day is a myth. I have rarely drunk that much. Though 2 may be on the light side. Do you feel thirsty? The Ted speaker said that is the gage of how much you need to drink (except if you are very elderly and no longer have the usual "signals")

Michèle that makes sense that that would be routine for you. surely it's good that you are calm then. Drinking water is probably that healthiest of all. A friend said we should filter all our water (which I don't). When I drink water I do drink bottled but when I drink tea, boil food etc, I use unfiltered tap water. Do you drink tap water? or bottled or filtered ? of course it depends on the water source where we are. What kind of tea do you drink? green tea or herb tea? you are not a caffeine addict!

    Good Saturday,
Two friend's mothers passed yesterday. Neither of those were C.

Not sure what today will bring. I know I have work to do, but can be done in comfort of home. We will see....

JulieWhen I am thirsty, I will drink. It just doesn't come naturally. I know that more water is better for bladder and kidneys.

A-fib- My DH has it. It took over 4 years before the doctor took his complaints seriously as all his tests came back normal. He has been on anxiety med for 15 years. They found the A-fib after he wore a monitor for a month. His heart was over 150 bpm for over 12 hours. He was actually down almost 40 lbs and eating everything cause he was hungry. He has been on Eliquis and Multaq for 4 or 5 years. One is blood thinner(for potential clots) . The other to help regulate heart. He also wears a CPAP. Once those steps were taken, he gained the weight back. They tried a beta blocker on him. That lasted two days. His resting heart beat was in the 40s. Exertion heart rate in the 50s! I took him off that quickly. The multaq is much better. I know racing hearts can be scary!

    Hugs to all struggling daily!
    Healing thoughts for all!
Peaceful moments for all in our crazy lives!

Day 1 of leave (and lockdown)

    Relaxing day.
    Sleep.
    Colouring.
    Playing keyboard.
    Laundry.
    Listening to music.
    Watching TV.
    Processing photos.
    Reading.

I've finished colouring one picture and have started another. Usually I take maybe 30 min a day to colour but today I've been doing bits all day.

I've been working on two songs on the keyboard: Soft Kitty and Silent Night. I need to practice and refresh my memory, but some of it is coming back.

We should have popped down into our home gym, but don't think either of us had the energy.

I've been tired this and last month and had, for weeks, looked forward to the lovely long weekend away we had last weekend and then this time of leave. So I'm not minding the lockdown at all.
