Been busy doing nothing. Wonderful.
Beginning to feel a bit better. Slept on and off. Read in between. I can smell the chicken stew DH is making and I'm looking forward to it. Still creeping about in my pyjamas like a very old lady, but I am hopeful for a renaissance. The body is a wonderful thing if you give it a chance.
I intend to get up soon and move to the sofa where I shall spend the evening watching TV.
Love to all. Thanks for the good wishes.

Peach – Happy beautiful fall day in Georgia! We have started our morning with hot coffee indoors and Oregon rain outside. I’m happy to look out my windows and watch the river on this misty morning.
Rita – I am impressed with your planning and notes. :flowerforyou:
Machka - I love the ducklings! As a child I had a book called Make Way for Ducklings. I loved it. Your photo reminded me of the book. Your Mama Duck has a big brood. The keyboard is a nice gift. I hope you’re able to get a stand and an F key.
Allie - Enjoy your trip! :flowerforyou:
Lisa – Your daughter is lovely and Levi the charming destroyer is a cutie. Three grandchildren are a blessing. My daughter also has three. Two are in elementary school and the third is not old enough for school yet.
I went to yoga class yesterday and had a wonderful time with my friends there. I had a fall a couple of weeks ago. I tripped going up concrete stairs and bonked my left knee pretty hard. The yoga class stretches made good progress for me. I wore a knee brace in class & I left class feeling much better. My left knee is a bit grumpy again this morning and I have my knee brace on again today. The next yoga class will be Friday. My doctor suggested physical therapy in addition to yoga if the knee doesn’t improve enough.

Cold and clear today. Not unusual for this time of year. However, just read two posts on NextDoor.com that there is a bear roaming through yards about one block away as I write this. He must be finding food because he has been around our neighborhood for a week now. Mars the Leash-Loving Cat will have to stay inside for a bit.
Lunch with a good friend today. Then dinner with my new travel friends. Better hit the recumbent bike before the day gets away.
Yesterday was Creative Arts Grief Therapy group. It is offered by the Denver Hospice, and I find it a lovely way to spend time reflecting and using the right side of my brain. Yesterday we took plain boxes and created our 'safe space'. Mine had all the colors of the rainbow, a calm cat, music, plants, tomatoes and crystals. In real life, my safe space is my home, and that was the theme I was going for.
Flea: As I exhale, I am blowing energy to you. You are strong and will get through this.

Rori. I love the idea of a box representing your safe space. Might try that with the kids sometime.
DH made the most heavenly chicken stew for dinner. There is enough left for me to mix with rice for tomorrow's lunch.
What a great husband!
I rang my son to check on Saturday. They are still waiting for results from the PCR tests. Probably negative, but you never know. I'm planning for them to arrive at 5 pm and will order takeout pizza from round the corner, so we can all eat together. We
always have the Funghi one. They can have plain and add toppings.
Parents to collect at 10.30 on Sunday after DH's birthday breakfast of fresh pancakes, croissants and pain chocolat. Must buy some fresh orange juice. I will somehow try to jam a fountain candle in the croissants!!!
Must be feeling better even to contemplate it!

Flea ... glad to hear you are almost done with the chemo and will soon be able to give your body a break!
Barbara ... I've been cooking quite a bit. It seems to be beyond my husband and son to figure out how to get a meal on the table. I have spoiled them. However, I do everything from my borrowed wheelchair ... no standing or trying to balance on one leg involved. Use a grabber to reach things. I have a hand mirror I use to "look into" my pots/pans as food is cooking. And I have to really think about what I'm doing before I do it which means it takes a long, long time to get things done. But then, I seem to have a lot of time right now.
Rita ... I like the way you take measurable steps to address your worry!
Allie ... have a great trip!
Heather... glad you're on the mend!
Another beautiful fall day in western New York.

So glad you posted. I think of you every time I pop in here. Lots of hugs and love coming your way. You are grace under pressure personified.
Beth -
That goes for you, too, on the grace under pressure thing. My hats off to you for cooking for two able-bodied men while you're in a wheelchair. Holy guacamole, woman.
Heather -
Am pleased you're starting to feel better, I think a day off was definitely in order. Hope tomorrow is better.
Allie -
Enjoy the trip! Post pics!
I have taken scandalous advantage of my healing and cursedly immobile status, and have read hundreds of articles all over the web on various subjects, far beyond my usual explorations. Keeping myself distracted has been a way to keep me from overthinking my progress and also slower than I would like, as I am not a patient person in the end. Perhaps that's what I'm supposed to learn from all this. I am learning to accept my temporary limitations and to find alternative ways of doing pretty much everything.
It does help that I slept nearly 8 hours last night, which always leaves me with a much more sunny outlook. My best friend and I talk every weekday, and she senses my progress through my voice and our conversations, and nearly cried today because she feels she got me back. She hung in there through these rough weeks, including the days I just broke down in sobs.
Well, I have one of the white noise programs running on the TV and made the mistake of choosing the rainstorm one. Making me want to take a small journey to the smallest room in the house.
Later y'all,
Love,

They came over and hosed off the excess powder. Now we have to wait for it to cure some more before they can seal it. May be about a month2 -
RVRita - I've read those books too. Even though they were written decades ago, are so very pertinent and to the point. Spot on - they are so very positive style of writing.
Auntie bk - my dog was marked as a Min Pin by the vet but think he's a mutt. Stockier body and shorter legs but he's my peanut. Waiting at the gate whenever arrive home from work.
Pip - how did you train Yogi to deal with an electric toothbrush?4 -
Evening ladies
Im at my cousins in Brentwood,im exhausted and there is a houseful of kids but its a blast and im so happy to be here.. the flights were uneventful thank goodness..

No training at all. He let me from the get go. He knows I’m the alpha and that I wouldn’t do anything to hurt him.4 -
Vince had an attack of a-fib so off to the hospital we went. He’s home now. I did get to the gym and did a body pump DVD. First went to Aldi, then the gym, stopped at the Salvation Army, to walmart and bought gas. Home to get dinner ready.
I say when Flea is finished with her treatments we have a virtual party! What do you all think?
Heather – feel better fast
M – your “greeters” reminded me of that book “Make Way for Ducklings”
pip – I never heard of an electric toothbrush for dogs!
Barbie – I was thinking earlier. Are you still taking those Isaginex (is that how it’s spelled?) shakes. I don’t recall you mentioning them lately which is why I ask
Went for my walk
Gonna take a shower. Work tomorrow.

Allie I'm glad that you made it and that your flights were uneventful!! Have a fantastic time

Well i did find out when I got here that my aunt and cousin had covid and my aunt was hospitalized.. everybody has been vaccinated and the quarantine time is long over so im hoping for the best nothing I can do now5
-
Worked so no formal exercise but I did go for a walk around the block. Same for tomorrow
After work stopped at Food Lion to get Vince milk, then went for his allergy shot, then stopped at the Salvation Army then stopped at Michael’s to get some shells for the mermaid.
Barbara – yup, I only get one shirt from BK. That’s all I got at Food Lion, too. Back when when Vince and I worked at Gino’s (remember them?) we got two uniforms. Of course, that was 40 years ago.
It does seem that I’m not getting in as much water now that I’m working. I used to routinely get in over 100oz/day, now I get only around 80-90. Still not a bad amount
Heather – when I first saw that view of yours, the first thing I thought of was “what a pretty jigsaw puzzle”. What a view! Is it hard to find gas over there? I wouldn’t think people wouldn't use as much since it’s so expensive so there’d be a lot to be had. Maybe I’m wrong
The other day after work I went to get my pocketbook out of my trunk (where I keep it while I’m working, need my license to drive but I don’t want to take my pocketbook in with me), there was this “stuff” on the back of the car. It looked like liquid egg. So I just took the hose to it and it washed right off.
When I was young, I didn’t like mushrooms; now I like them. Same for spinach.
Anne DE – That guy unfriending you...no loss, that’s for sure. Things will get better.
Cheri – thanks for that smile
Bought 6 heads of cabbage at Food Lion. It was on sale for 49 cents/lb. I’ll make some sauerkraut (more like a lot) with only using the Tbs of salt.
Rebecca – why does the number 4 in Japanese culture represent bad luck? Tell me more about this.
Went to Belk and got a king size sheet set for $11. Think that’s pretty good.
Ceramics tonight. In about 2 weeks I should have the mermaid done. Then to wait for Vince to put the shells on.

This number is unlucky because it sounds very similar to the word for death, 死 (shi). In Japan, people often avoid the 4th floor. It’s also uncommon to have room numbers ending in 4, especially in hospitals.👍

Thanks for your support, everyone. I don't feel like a trooper. I am looking forward to the honesty of 4 weeks medical leave when I have my surgery in November. I mean, I go to work. I answer emails and attend meetings. I do work. But I really am not at even near 100%. For example, we had a Zoom all-employee meeting yesterday, and I sat in the recliner in my office with my lap top to "watch" it, and I am pretty sure I dozed off 5 or 6 times. They posted a link this morning for people who weren't able to attend, and I almost felt like I should have watched it again.
So I am really pretty worthless at work.

Well last night started off normal, lying in bed at 9:30pm. Then I started my back pain, so I ran a hot bath, got back to bed at 11pm. Still not helped, so trimmed my nails in the bathroom, just kind of pacing. Then took another bath, was out at 3:00am. Went downstairs and moaned on the couch. Poor son was worried, asked if I was ok, if I needed a blanket. Sweet, but I said I was fine. Finally relaxed at about 4:30am and went to bed. Woke up when Lee was taking his shower, he said he would wake me up at noon. What a crazy night. Today was some chicken noodle soup. My body is so sore!

I think she was a caregiver for several broods. There are quite a few ducks in that area and I'm guessing the others were out getting food or something and left their ducklings with one.

Michele, Yes, I am still having Isagenix shakes for breakfast. I've had one nearly every day since I found them in the middle of 2009. I have Isagenix Isadelight chocolates for a treat and Isagenix bars for mid morning snack.
RVRita, bravo to you for seeking a solution to your anxiety. How great to find something that helps.
Allie, glad to hear that your plane trip was uneventful for you. I hope the rest of the trip is just what you had hoped.
Flea, sending hugs to you as you navigate this difficult time.

It’s an electric toothbrush that we use for us, he just has his own toothbrush2 -
Take advantage of the free distilled water. Sometimes I have the hardest time finding it for Vince. Seems the shortage has to do with the fact that it takes so much work to make distilled water.
Off to beddy bye. Work, soup kitchen, then Green Room tomorrow.

On my way home from an errand I stopped along the way to talk to a woman who was walking her dog. The dog was a Keeshond like our sweet dog, Schooner. It was lovely to chat with her and pet her dog. ❤️4

I’m so far behind!
Kylia - why don’t you go away for a couple of weekends? Maybe to your farmhouse? Just shut off.
I struggled talking to my girls about all intimate things. I was pushed into it when our eldest said “I know tampons are for girls and condoms are for boys, but I don’t know why”. I think she was 9, a young girl that had babysat for us for years helped me through it. We also watched a lot of shows that dealt with difficult topics to open up conversations more easily. 7th Heaven was a great one.
Mary - I’ll get some pictures posted in the next couple of days. I need to get some pictures take .
Barbara - I would not do well with bears that close I don’t think.
Although my Mom seemed fine with them around.
Annie - I don’t think you lost much with that guy. He was only looking for someone to use.
Tina - I am 53 and have been a great aunt for 13 years on November 9th. I remember feeling old at the time. Now I feel old because my Grandson who was born on my birthday turned 10 last month. 😂
I like dance to Hair Band music, it’s what I grew up dancing to. I like it to get my heart rate up. I haven’t been able to for a long time though, my hip is still considerably painful.
Michele - did you get the work done you wanted to? I think it was landscaping. I was thinking about that the other day.
Julie - what is a normal wake up time for France?
Lisa - Levi is a cutie.
Heather - my DH texted me yesterday afternoon that he felt like he was getting a cold. I drove out to our daughters (3 hours round trip) to get the rapid tests I left there after the birthday party. He thought it was funny to text our daughter later to tell her he wasn’t pregnant. 😂 He is feeling better today, hope you are better and Johnny doesn’t get it.
Beth - “a mother’s work is never done” I’ve often wondered what would happen if I were to be laid up, when I was told not to bend or squat earlier this year for a few months. DH stepped up (cough, cough) by getting the pots and pans out for me. 😂 He’s been spoiled too.
What a busy week I’ve had. Work was super busy and then the evenings flew by. I didn’t work Monday as it was Thanksgiving. Tuesday after work I crafted well into the evening. Came up with many more designs. Have sold a few based on concept only. Last night my unexpected drive to our daughters took up the evening and tonight I had ceramics. I am not used to being busy in the evening and my back and hip are letting me know they are unimpressed.
I am off tomorrow, I am accompanying DH for a dietitian visit. I thought since I do the shopping and cooking it would be good to be there. I then need to get some proper pictures of our ornaments posted to our FB page for the virtual market on Saturday.
Another busy weekend ahead of me. It sure makes the time go fast.
Lisa - your white noise show made me chuckle. I am always up way later than DH on the nights he doesn’t work. I turn the station to odd shows before I go to bed to make him question my sanity on my viewing. A lot of times I put on ones that show different views, sometimes a fireplace or campfire etc. Tonight while I’ve been catching up here I was going to put one of the campfires on, but noticed that they have a Halloween one. It is all lit pumpkins, with old creepy music, cats meowing and owls hooting. He’ll enjoy it when he wakes up. 😂

I am always homesick in the Fall. These are photos people are sharing of my hometown and the neighbouring town that I lived in when we were married before moving to Alberta.
The one with the church, my Dad helped build those steeples. The bridge is the Longest Covered Bridge in the World 1282 feet. My initials are carved in the walkway a few times I’m sure.
