Beth- It sounds as if you are being a good girl and listening to the doc and staying off your leg (as much as possible). I live with men who don't/won't cook and I am positive if I ever had to go through anything like you are dealing with, I would be living off Campbells soup and take out.

Favorite herbs/spices- Oh, how I love herbs! I love the smell of cilantro, but I think my very favorite smell is freshly grated ginger. Such a sunny, lemony smell! INstant mood lifter for me.
the million dollar question- 1st: House and debt paid off, 2nd: 100k put into retirement savings, 3rd: pay off our kid's student loans, 4th: 500k gift to specific charities or people in need. This way I could continue to work and use that income for home upkeep, travel, necessities, and still have plenty to bank.
On shopping bags- I have used cloth shopping bags for many, many years (probably close to 20 years). They are washed often. They have been used for more than groceries (carrying meals to people, packing up kids from college dorms, sending things home with kids,etc.) I do keep a handful of plastic bags for wet clothes, dirty cloth diapers, etc. BUT, when stores banned us from bringing our own bags, I felt like crying. I had SO many plastic bags. I was happy when they allowed the cloth ones again. Pre-covid, Aldi was planning to get rid of a lot of their plastic packaging and have people bring in their own containers to carry things. I haven't heard anything about that change since covid hit. I would welcome that change with open arms.
Well, here we are at 7:15. I better scoot and get ready for the other kids. I currently have a roasting pan filled with small pumpkins and gourds sitting in about an inch of cornstarch "slime". I added a handful of googly eyes to the mix. I figure if I set that out with a bucket of sudsy water, the kids will be busy for a good hour getting the gourds slimy, then washing, then slimy, etc. Fingers crossed for no rain, so we can do this messy play outside, rather than in my kitchen. On my walk today ...

I tried to upload my book. Went well, though I was in a complete state trying to decide on cover design, colours etc. All good until I looked at the first few pages in the Preview. Horrible mess up. Soooo..... I am in a panic and ....... AARRGGHHH!
I know there us a fix, somewhere, but I couldn’t find it in my panic, so I've closed it all down and need to calm down a bit.
DH is no use because his book was not right, and neither were his previous ones. I will have to soldier on alone.
I think I will leave it until tomorrow morning, but whether I will sleep tonight is another matter.
I think most of it is OK, it's just the front few pages seem to have slipped and the first chapter doesn't start on the facing (odd) page. A poem has got split in two. Grrrr!
As I've said before, I am not technical.
I need to look at their templates, I think.

Morning peeps
So far did a 5k (3.1mi) a couple of days, Then did 6miles for 3 days (days off here and there) then now up to 7.5miles for 3 days (2nd day yesterday of the 7.5mile run). Will plan to increase to 8.5 miles for 3 day, etc. staying at around 10 min mi which I’m ok with. I know I can go faster but I’m okay with the way it is now4 -
Carol-- We watch the show Chopped. I find it interesting the stuff they come up with from what they are given. I do think it is an honor to have been chosen.

DH was not doing well again this morning. Was up at 430 with chest pressure. I called the doctor this morning and asked about his test results. He figured if they don't call it must be ok. Any way there is a problem with his heart going into rest. So they are going to order a heart monitor.
New person has showed up last 3 days and taking lots of notes and asking questions which is a good start. I work with her tomorrow. I am starting to relax and getting excited about getting back to 44 hour weeks instead of 55-60.

Car in shop today because I got bumped from behind on Tuesday. Fortunately no body damage...We will get our new boiler beginning of November. They have it they need to get the man power together to put it into our home. Way of the world right now. Getting kitchen ready to paint next Thurs. I read on line what to do. So I am washing all the walls to have it ready. DH keeps himself busy with small projects. I did make it clear all his stuff has to be off dining room table by next Wednesday. We need a place for appliances so we do not have to be picking them off the floor. So It is a busy couple of weeks. I am not taking on any extra activities until these repairs and painting are complete.
I did say to DH feeling disoriented because getting kitchen ready is like a mini move. Now where did I put that. I have some of that anyway this just aggravates it. I know understand why my mom did very little on her home the last ten years she lived in her home.5 -
Rain started here Tuesday evening- forecast is saying rain every day through this coming Tuesday. We do need it and the only thing this rain will hurt is the tomatoes at mom's that we didn't get picked over the weekend. The green ones will be fine in the rain and hopefully we will get some more sun before the frost hits. Frost will take out all the peppers and they can't be eaten if they get frosted/tastes bad and the tomatoes will be totally gone

Garlic I use every single time I cook. If I am cooking Asian, which I do a lot it is ginger and garlic- Lots of it!!
I grow most of the herbs I use- my rosemary plant my dad started for me over 25 yrs ago has taken over the front of the house and gets pruned back at least a couple times a year then I share about 10 grocery bags full with who ever wants it, My thyme, and oregano are doing so so- sage, I need to plant a new one. Don't have much luck with that for some reason.

Down a lb today. Slow and steady. But overall I'm down 11 lbs since my trip. When I view "reports" my weight fluctuations look like either a "I'm #1" sign or I'm giving someone the finger!😂😂 My jeans are starting to be droopy! I will soon feel the need to buy 1X's and retire these 2X's. They are getting thin anyways.
Yesterday I had creamy tomato soup (the tubs you microwave), and a bologna, cheese and mayo sandwich made with buttermilk bread. The creamy was just too salty, and had this weird oil sheen. It was not my wonderful childhood moment of dipping the sandwich in my soup.🙄😪. I did make some nice blackberry turnovers. I will have one with coffee after soup homemade chicken noodle soup.
I thought they looked pretty close to store bought. But without as many chemicals.

Machka ... home prices are all about location, location, location ...
Herbs/spices ... I grew up with outdated cans of McCormick's spices. We rarely used spice. My mother was big on Campbell condensed soups though. As a result I never much cared for things like paprika until I found smoked paprika ... l now love smoked paprika. Fresh garlic is big with my guys. I occasionally make a salad that uses tons of fresh basil and mint and farro. Love it. I never understood parsley either until I started growing flat-leaf italian parsley. Now I'm sold. Fresh is infinitely tastier to me than dried/canned.
Carol ... I watch "Chopped" too and would love to watch when your DIL's brother is on. Let us know!

Afternoon ladies
Went to knit and stitch ,still plugging along on the blanket, its going to take me awhile lol..
Beautiful fall day out.. but im still trying to recoup from trip.I didnt grocery shop and I am so confused..
I should be eating a low phosphorus diet and trying to figure out what to buy and make is just making my head spin,so i procrastinate....
Im not one to cook alot for myself and tend to pick at stuff,and not at good stuff either,but if I had the right things in the house to eat then it might make it easier..
Ugh its just so hard.. but ill figure it out.
Not supposed to have processed foods ,meats and not much dairy either so leaves me with not to many things im used to..2 -
made bacon and tomato sandwiches for dh and mil- dropped them off. He has to be over there while the plumber works on a busted pipe- have to dig a trench from the house to the street and hopefully not have to go into the house. Line broke last night and the plumber couldn't come until this morning.
Made a sandwich for me- enjoyed one of the last tomatoes from the garden.
Next I will make some zucchini bread- haven't made any in a few years. Will share with MIL
Making Fettuchini Alfredo w/ chicken breast for dinner . Have a half gallon of half and half to use up.1 -

When I went to Sam's Club today, I was shocked to see older (and I mean white haired older) adults (men and women) working in the parking lot gathering up carts to be taken back to the store. Also working in the store stocking, etc. Whereas, the younger people were working the cash registers. I have no good answer for it but it made me feel sad.

Allie - I know NOTHING about low phosphorus - but a googled it and there are a ton of suggestions and lists of things you can have. I would look at this as a game, what can I find that I like and is "right" and make it fun.

Kim ... like you need more to do in your life! Thank you for the offer ... I will find split peas. There's no rush ... it's just soup season and I've been hungry for split pea soup.
Allie ... Kim's idea is the best way to approach new diet protocols. You have to go all in with the idea that this is for you and your health, but make it as tasty and interesting as possible.
My ride was a bust ... started to pour down rain but I did get to see some harvest decorations and what leaves are still on the trees.
