:) My dog walking friend has other plans this morning with her daughters so she won't be walking with Bessie and Sasha and me. That allowed me to luxuriate in hitting the snooze button a few times and get up at 4:30 instead of 4:10. It is dark when I wake up and dark through nearly all of the dog walking time. I love the sense of privacy we have in the dark. No one else is out and the world is ours. There is a light on a pole in front of every house in the neighborhood and I carry a flashlight.

:) Today the dogs go to a new groomer. It is exciting and scary for all of us.

:)Barbara, I had such a frustrating time trying to make appointments for the booster that I gave up.

So sorry you are under the weather!

You have one of those jobs where you can't get sick. (((Hugs)))

Freezing the soup - one little hint that might be useful if you have the room to do it is to freeze the soup in the mug or bowl you are likely to want to use when you are sick, then transfer the frozen soup to baggie. Then you just put the soup in your mug and heat in microwave when you want it.

My son's family has been taking covid tests all week, mainly to protect DH and me. PCR and lateral flow. Max's class has loads of cases, but he is negative. It is so kind of them.
I feel a lot safer, having had the booster. We could still catch it, of course, but not badly.

My friend G wants to chat in a bit. She will have just got in from driving south today.
I'm slowly getting round to my publicity rounds. Sent an email to a radio show this morning. My DDIL is going to give me a few contacts. Kind of her.
    You have to try. :)

Much love to all. Hope you feel better soon KJ. <3

Rori – Making your pain into a kite is brilliant. Will you fly it outside, or use it as art in your home? Give Mars a gentle pat for me.

Tracey - I had a glimpse of the Northern Lights many years ago. They were green, constantly moving, and brilliant. I haven’t had the good luck of seeing them in person since then. I count you as very lucky. I hope you have a good time with your friend.

Barbara – The Bi-Mart near us has also closed its pharmacy. They still have shelves of vitamins for sale. Better than nothing, I guess. :ohwell: We got our vaccinations at our local Walgreens. We’ve each had three Pfizer vaccinations and a flu shot there. They were organized and things moved swiftly. I had an easy time with my third vaccination, but DH didn’t feel good for several days after he took his shot. :noway:

Machka – I am impressed with your level of exercise. I typically ride my terra-tryke, a three wheeled trike I ride in the garage on its trainers, but since I fell and bonked my knee I haven’t felt up to it. Today my knee felt a little bit better. I’m hoping to be back at riding the terra-tryke soon. :star:

Barbie – Dogs are wonderful, and I sure miss walking with mine. I miss him every day. We have travel & family obligations this fall, but we’ll be looking for a puppy in 2022. :flowerforyou:

Karen - I loved watching Laurel and Hardy on our black and white TV when I was growing up. So funny!

Sunday is Halloween! We need to get ready with some treats in case someone comes to our door. We will have our front door light on.

Allie we just had some painting done and i wish I had asked them to put up some plastic in the doorways. A fine layer of dust coated our entire main floor. I am having to go through and vacuum wash just about anything that was out. DH is in stage 4 cancer and does not need that dust. Neither to I. I would wear a good quality mask while they are working and when you clean up after them.

We are having “a bright, bright sunshiny day.” I spent some time chatting with a neighbor and look forward to seeing the Oregon Ducks play football later today.

Did a DVD for the bosu then went for a short walk mainly because I had to go to the bathroom. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Jari Love Revved to the Max DVD. I didn’t realize that the bosu DVD was mostly ab work.

I think everyone enjoyed themselves at the Halloween party

Made cookies to give to Steve when he leaves (he’ll be here Wednesday) then worked on cleaning up the downstairs. Still have a lot to do putting decorations away

Rori – I know that you are one of the most fantastic mentors. I remember years ago Bryan had a girl in his class who was beaten to death. What they did was they planted an evergreen tree in her memory – something that would never die – and then each of the kids had a balloon with her name on it and they all released it into the sky.

Tracey – how wonderful that you and your cousin reconnected!!!

KJ – hope you feel better fast

    Rita – (((HUG)))

Weather looks like it’ll be nice the next few days. Maybe we won’t have much trouble drying out the inflatables.

Lector at the church tonight. Need to return the garment I borrowed from them.

Vince is talking about staying in FL for 8 weeks. For one thing, I don’t think I can take 8 weeks off work. Not during Feb. and March, maybe July and August. Also, he constantly calls if the newspaper is late. Can you imagine if something that he was waiting for didn't come in the mail? Now a neighbor of ours at the condo who sometimes stays there for months has told me about all the problems she’s had having her mail forwarded. I honestly don’t want to hear Vince ranting and raving about the mail. Then to have it reforwarded from FL to NC, I really don’t want to hear it. Well, since I’m working, I’ll just tell him that I’ll have to come home early. It really isn’t fair to Burger King. He’s talking about staying 8 weeks because Jess was talking about coming down there. Why we have to stay the entire time she’s there is beyond me. I know he has directions printed out about how to close up the condo and I trust Colby to do it.

    Saturday Highlights

    - Going for a drive in the countryside to check some cycling route possibilities. It is gorgeous out there! After all that rain, everything is very green, plus there was snow down to 600 metres so the mountains are topped with snow. And the cycling route possibilities are good!

    - Spending an hour weeding. I actually enjoyed it! It's peaceful, and I got most of my bed weeded. I want to finish that and plant seeds tomorrow ... but where are my seeds? I have this feeling I put them somewhere safe.

    - Cycling inside for just over half an hour.

And now I need to work on my cycling club stuff ... while I think about those seeds. We've checked the greenhouse and shed and I've checked numerous drawers. They can't have just wandered off.

Regarding the Heart Rate conversation earlier, I wore a HRM as I do when I cycle inside, and you can see my average and maximum heart rates during that ride. It was what I would call, a relatively casual ride.

Found them!! Bottom of a basket, under a bunch of stuff, tucked into a drawer. A safe place, apparently!

Don't you just hate when you put something in a safe place- and then can't remember where that safe place is!!
    Glad you found them.

Insomnia bad last night- was up at 4 am having a cup of hot chocolate- either that was what helped or just that it was 4 AM and I needed to get some sleep. Woke up when dh came in from work at 7:30 but did go back to sleep for an hour, off and on.
Have the house to myself tomorrow- a bunch of different things to work on- will see what actually gets done.

Flea – I honestly don’t want to stay in FL for 8 weeks. I REALLY don’t want to hear Vince ranting and raving. Plus...it would be like saying that we trust Jess and Colby. To me, we don’t have to stay there the entire time they’re there and we shouldn’t. We should show her and Colby that we trust them. Hey, if she can manage her personal bills (phone, rent, student loans, car, insurance, etc), I honestly think she’s responsible enough. Vince’s OCD is probably coming thru feeling that we have to be there to close it up. No, he hasn’t been diagnosed with OCD, we just joke about it since at times he needs (and wants) to have things done a certain way. You have no idea how many times I've listened to him telling me how to do things (like wind up the extension cord) and then just done it my way. The job got done, and he never knew it wasn't done the exact way he would have done it.

Barbie – I really like having the condo, I REALLY do. We can vacation whenever we want, we can take the cats with us, it’s very relaxing there. I don’t want to get rid of it. At one time Vince seriously thought of the logical reasons why we should get rid of it. I just told him how I felt and he hasn’t talked about selling it since then. I do believe he finds it relaxing, too. Of course, his way of relaxing and my way are two different ways. But that’s OK. I don’t want to get rid of it. One of the things I want to do with the money I’m earning is update the condo. Of course, that’s after I get the things done around the house that Vince doesn’t think are important but I do (like the landscaping). So to me (and Vince) selling is not an option.

Flea - for some reason I can't seem to edit my post, even tho it's been less than an hour.

Anyway..why don't we stay longer than a month? Because you can only have your mail held for 30 days. Then you have to have it forwarded. And this is the postal system we're talking about. Why don't we go another month? Vince has this "thing" about wanting to do things himself. He feels "why pay someone for something you can do yourself". I think eventually he'll have to give this up. Until then, tho..... In summer (June, July, August, even September) the grass is growing quickly. Plus..we usually go to see Denise in September (only we couldn't go this year) So that is his concern. He decorates big time for the holidays so October is decorating for Halloween. In November we've been going to Jess' for Thanksgiving, plus we need to take down Halloween decorations, then start Christmas decorating after getting back from Jess'. Also, Steve likes to stop here in November on his way to FL. December is can't leave the computers on and outside. January is taking down the decorations. Feb to March we usually go to FL. When we get back it's time to open the pool and the grass is starting to grown. May we go to see Denise and do things around the house (like trim trees, wash windows, etc)

Now this year we did have to go to FL at the end of August for about 2 weeks. Not being able to see Denise and PJ was a blessing in disguise.
