Carol - lovely photos,
I love your grandson's hair. Max has always had it short, but his best friends have all got luxuriant locks and he is thinking of growing his.
I've had a productive day. I usually take Sunday off, but it was such terrible weather this morning that I buckled down and emailed a local radio station and a local free magazine. Then I managed a new Instagram post this afternoon. I know some of you are following me - thank you. I go by heathereylesiam.
I was pleased with myself this morning as I managed to force myself back to sleep until normal getting up time. I was expecting to be pacing the house, but used my eye mask and ..... Voila! I am making cauliflower cheese for dinner. I've cooked the cauliflower and DH has grated a mountain of cheese! Now to make the sauce. I always add scallions, sun-dried tomatoes and top it with bacon pieces on the cheesy breadcrumbs. KJ....? Are you coming over?
Just hope I can stave off the hunger pangs until 6 pm.

A close up of me in Paris in 1966. Note the Alice band and the trench coat I was soooo proud of. I thought I was a Left Bank bohemian.

Good Sunday and Happy Halloween,
Things getting done. Feels good. Have to head to grocery. Something about no milk, eggs, bread, cheese and a lot of other things is making my DH nervous. Planned on going yesterday, but was rainy and I wasn't feeling it. I have spent the morning doing paperwork for work, but only have about another hour to go as soon as one of the websites opens back up!
No trick or treaters at our country house. We would have plenty to give if we ever did!
Hugs!
Love!
Encouragement!

Michele – Do you and Vince both trust Jess and Colby to use your condo without you there? If so, go for it and let them use it. If not, invite them for a week or two while you’re there. You and Vince are the ones who need to make that decision.
Machka – HAPPY MENOPAUSE! Enjoy yourself and your new freedom. It might be stop and go for a bit. My mom called her periods “the curse.” I have enjoyed freedom from “the curse” for a long time. :flowerforyou:
(((Margaret))) – I hope the dust situation has ended and your DH can be more comfortable.
Barbara – Everyone should be able to rant once in a while. No apology necessary.
Allie - I hope you are able to fix your coffee table’s leg. Wonky legs can lead to unwanted spills. Tea cups are happier with a level surface.
Peach – Your grandchildren look like they are having fun carving their pumpkins.
Pip – I love your photos of the ocean and your pup, Yogi.
Heather – You were a beautiful girl in 1966, and you are a beautiful woman now.
The Oregon Ducks won their football game yesterday. Yay!!! DH and I both graduated from the University of Oregon. We loved it there. A job offer for DH in the Portland area prompted us to move back then.
This is the final day of Halloween Town for the year. Yay! It will be nice to have fewer cars parked everywhere tomorrow. :grumble: (at last)
We have a sunny morning and coffee. What could be better?

Did Jari Love Revved to the Max DVD then because it’s getting cold out rode the recumbent bike for 45 minutes.
After exercise went to Aldi. Was thinking that I’d need to go to WalMart also, but Aldi had most of the things I needed. I’ll probably go to WalMart maybe Tuesday after work.
Julie – you seem to have a good renter there
Rita – you’re only assuming that a therapist is going to tell you to leave your dh. You may be surprised, he/she might encourage you to go to a support group. You won’t know until you give it a try. If the therapist insists you leave dh, you can always leave that therapist.
KJ – I don’t know how I’d manage without my freezer! Honestly, at this point it’s stuffed. But if I can go to Aldi, they have gooooood grapes on sale, I’ll get some more and put them in the freezer. Hold a seat for me at Chez Heather!!!
Carol – I think everyone at the party enjoyed themselves...thanks for asking. As soon as I can, I’ll get some pics. Honestly, it was mostly younger people (50’s – 60’s) who were there. I guess a lot of the older people (70’s – 80’s) are concerned about indoor activities. Wish we had more “food” , tho. Oh well….
Made more chocolate bran muffins for me now have ribs in the oven at 275 for about 4 hours. I figure when Steve gets here we can have them one night. If the weather is nice, Vince can grill with the BBQ sauce. If not, I can use it in the broiler. I’m going to try making the potato puffs in the convection oven.
Had to trim the mats out of Lexi’s fur. My heart breaks that it was necessary. See, she was severely abused. Here’s a picture of when we first got her. I remember when they took the bandage off her. There was so much adhesive I just thought “how in the world are we going to clean her up”. You know, in the 13 years we’ve had her, we’ve never once had to give her a bath or cut out a mat. She was always so very fastidious. She would go into the litter box for a minute, then spend 5 minutes covering it up! You’d never know she had used the litter box. She always groomed herself real well.
But we’re sure she has dementia. She walks around the house with the “deer in the headlights” look as if she was saying “I need to use the litter box...but where is it?” She’s totally deaf. Many times she just can’t make it to the litter box or she forgets where it is. She spends most of her day sleeping. But as far as we can tell, she’s happy. It took her years before she could even “meow”. She had a dislocated hip and air leaking out of her trachia, which is why the SPCA seized her, she had been abused.
The sad thing is...we’re 99.9% sure it was the guy Denise married who abused her. He never admitted it and neither did Denise, but the SPCA told us that when they came to seize her, he threw Lexi against the wall.
So there’s a special place in our hearts for her. She’d been thru so much. When we first bought this house, we didn’t have any beds (except for ours) which was a blessing since she couldn’t jump up but the mattress was low enough to the ground that she could sleep with me.

Rita when you look for a therapist, you can lay down guidelines. I had one who wanted me to stay with my husband. I fired her and when I went looking for another I said right out I'm leaving my husband and I want you to support me through that process. It really helped me to have someone on my side to talk through the divorce issues. You have the support of all of us here, but you can't get too personal online. Best wishes for a safe journey for you.

Michele ~ (((Poor Lexie))) Is there a possibility that in addition to being deaf she might can't see and can't get to the litter box.
Margaret ~ Drew is a Cutie I didn't imagine him being so small.
Allie ~ I hope the weather won't be really cold when you have the work done.

Kelly ... Karen gets the credit for making "pucks" out of soup!
Margaret ... Drew all dressed up!
Rainy, wet day here. We will have exactly 3 children come to the door for candy ... and that's only because I've called their parents to let them know I have something for them. Our neighborhood streets are not good for walking on in the best of weather.
Yesterday we participated in our church's trunk or treat event but ended up having to go inside and set up everything on a table. I wore myself out creating all of the props the day before. My son and husband helped set up the table but they are evidently unable to center a table cloth. That kind of stuff drives me nuts. We had a really good turnout of local children.

Made it to the grocery! Whoop! Whoop! Now to eat the food. I only threw out celery, some spinach, and some yogurt. Oh and the last of the 1/2 gal of milk. Not too bad for us. And of course, I shop, we go out to eat.....SMH!1

My day so far has been short walk with dogs, breakfast, long walk with dogs, curbside pickup at grocery store, long walk with friend, lunch, medium walk with dogs.
I decided to post the new thread for November now so I don't forget.

Love your table!!!
I will have to try and remember for next year.
We are not participating in Trunk or Treat at church this year. Haven't been IN church in months- it is mandatory masks in our county but they are not following it. When I did go, only two others had masks on besides me.
I am not a big fan of Halloween and with the weather we had this past week or so, never did bother putting up any of the decorations. They are still sitting under a tarp on the back deck- they will just go back in the shed. I will get the Thanksgiving stuff out, including our big blow up turkey.
Christmas- oh, I go ALL out. We will start the day after Thanksgiving, unless it rains(and dh may start a little before with just the winter type stuff.
